Queridos amigos:

  • Moving to Chile in a week, need to know if my 27'' iMac will work on 220V automatically

    Hi guys!
I'm graduating today from college! and I'm moving to Chile in just a week and a half to work. I have a 27'' iMac that I bought last year but I don't know if it will work there because of the voltage difference. Does anyone know for sure how this works? Of course when I've gone down there my Macbook hasn't had any problems because the charger converts the power, but I don't know if the iMac has the same capability or if I'll have to buy a converter in Chile.
    Please let me know!

The iMac will work on the electricity supplied to the wall. You just may need a different shaped prong to plug into the wall. Check the specs at Apple's web site.

  • February  2012,I bought an AppleTV in the US, to bring it to where I live, CHILE, where voltage is 220V. Is the device multivoltage or do I need a voltage converter?

  • PLUG ADAPTERS FOR CHILE

Wondering if anybody can help: I'm going to Chile on Friday and am borrowing a 15" Titanium Powerbook from my office. I can't get a definitive answer from Applecare about the World Travel converter kit, with the wall outlet plug adapters. Will it work in Chile? The box and the manual list Europe and Australia and Hong Kong and all kinds of places, but there's no mention of South America at all. Different countries down there have different voltage. Chile is 220.
I've talked to Tech Support, I've talked to Customer Service. All they say is "I don't know." I even went to an Apple store today to look at the kit and they reufsed to open a sealed box and they had no display models. And again, they just shrugged and said, "Oh, it doesn't say South America? I don't know."
I checked International Electrical Supply websites and they say that Chile is 200 v and you need a WA-10 and WA-12 grounded plug adapter and it shows the pictures, and a #1 and #6 ungrounded. But the Apple manual doesn't list numbers or letters. Just illustrations, which feels to risky to me to go by. Then Radio Shack says for Chile you need their converter called "B" and plugs "2" and "5." (Which they didn't have).
So it seems like everybody calls this stuff something else.
Since the Apple power adapter will convert the voltage to 220, all I need are the plug adapters, right? The Apple power thing has a 3-prong plug. I guess I have to purchase the products from somewhere else, it seems, as I'm nervous about purchasing from Apple and finding out the plug adapters don't work. And I can't find anybody who knows anything about them.
Anybody out there with experience on this stuff? Since it isn't my laptop, I'm even more concerned that I don't screw this up.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Buy the 98 cent plug adapters which are our style on top and two round prongs on the bottom. The power supply works from 100-240 and 50/60 hz so you just need to accommodate the plug format. I have a bag of them and am off to Chile in a week. Decent hotels usually have a box of them to lend out as well.
You might have to get a (somewhat discouraged) 3-2 prong adapter here first, e.g. the plug is 3 prongs that you have now and you need to get it to 2 prongs to fit in the Chile adapter as all the sockets only have the two holes there.
So it isn't grounded all that hot but there is usually a wire on the adapter so you can always run a ground wire to the screw in the cover plate or a pipe etc.
I don't bother but make sure you are not using it in the bathtub or something like that.

    Please, help me :)

Your best bet would be to try resetting the password to the account that you would like to use via iForgot
Once you log in to that account change the email address to anything, it can even be fake its just a placeholder
After you do that you will be free to change your old email address on your appleID to the new one that is now free to be used as it is no longer attached to the other account.

  • Decimal Places are not Permitted for Chile Country

    Hi All,
In OVA8 settings for Chile country at the field max.doc value, i am not able to use the decimals. getting error message as Decimlas are not permitted (Message no - 00011). checked OY04 - there is no decimals for Chile currency. checked - OY01 Dec.Pt. format as 1.234.567,89
For Argentina, Peru and Uruguay same settings has been done and i am able to save the decimal points in OVA8 at the field max.doc value.
Please let me know if there is any specifis settings for Chile or SAP NOTE
    Thanks,
    Mahesh

    HI,
    just looking at a brand-new ECC60 / EhP4 system where nobody changed OY04 settings.
I can find CLP (Chilean Peso) in the list with ' ' decimal places, so thats why there are no decimal places allowed.
Check again OY04, if you find an entry for CLP and NOTHING is maintained it means that ZERO dec. places are allowed.
If you find an entry in OY04 with a number of decimal places >0 than this decimal places are allowed.
If there is NO entry for a given currency then its used with 2 decimal places (SAP standard).
So OY04 is only for the currencies that should be treated different as SAP standard.
    Best regards, Christian

  • International travel (South America/Chile) and adapter/converter questions

I am traveling to Chile in South America and want to make sure I will be safe using my macbookpro with just a simple adapter (no power converter) - http://shop1.frys.com/product/1769498?site=sr:SEARCH:MAINRSLTPG
I understand the the plug and adapter that came with the computer should allow an input range of 110 - 240 (Chile is 220) but I have read on forums of people's notebook getting fried.
Anybody know what else I could get to be safe or should I be ok with just a standard adapter?

I go to Santiago annually and all you need is the round pin adapter. If you have any dollar stores in your neighborhood look there first as several of them where I live (my neighbourhood is pretty ethnically diverse) sell them for 99 cents.

Most of the current Apple Intel based computers are comparable in CPU speed. I don't think it is so much the model of laptop as it is the memory, and storage capacity of the machine. If you are going to use FCP on a regular basis, perhaps as a professional or semi-professional, then you should think about the maximum memory and a very large capacity internal disk drive. For instance, one hour of finished compressed video will take up about 1.5 to 2Gbytes of disk space. If you add up the raw footage and still imagery and audio, you'll use up your disk drive capacity real quick. So a hard disk on the order of 750Gbytes @ 7200rpms might be good for video editing. 5400RPMs might be slow to rendering times. Rendering a video might take up a lot of memory so more memory is better e.g. 8Gbytes.
As a rule of thumb, once you get to about 80% of your disk drive or memory you'll see degradation of performance.
You can check out macsales.com. THey have a menu system that will allow you to pick and choose from various alternatives. BTW, it's been said that although Macs are typically spec'd at a certain memory size, macsales.com found that Apple computers will actually support higher memory levels. That is, if 4Gbytes are spec'd, some machines support 6Gbytes. macsales.com will provide the guidance for you.
You might also consider buying an external disk e.g. 500Gbytes to carry around with you for back-up or transport to another machine.

  • I want to create a payment account in iBookstore, but I live in Chile. Is it possible?

I need to create a payment account to sell books on iBookstore, but from Chile I have been very complicated.
    I have two questions:
1.-The Apple requests bank account must necessarily, be issued by a U.S. bank.
2.-which form should I fill as a foreign national to obtain an EIN I asked Apple.
    Thanks.

No, you don't need a US bank account. Any account that can accept direct payments from an overseas source will work.
See this link for how to get started and obtain an EIN. (Doing this over the phone with the IRS after filling in the form is the quickest and easiest way to get this done.)

  • I live in Chile and would like to watch movies from my MacBook to my JVC HD Television.. What cables do I need to purchase to do this?

I live in Chile and would like to watch movies from my MacBook to my JVC HD Television.. What cables do I need to purchase to do this?

You'll need a Mini-DVI adapter for the MacBook 4,1 and the iMac 8,1 and a cable from that to your TV. Here's the various types of Mini-DVI adapters on Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=min i-dvi&x=9&y=13
(Composite is the red, white and yellow RCA plugs on your TV or red, white and S-Video plugs.)
You'll also need audio cables to the TV using a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs or a 3.5mm stereo input plug for audio with the Composite. You attach it from the headphone jack of your MacBook to the appropriate audio input plugs on your TV.
If you connect the MacBook using a Mini-DVI to HDMI adapter you will probably need to use external speakers or a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs connected to a stereo system for audio if your TV doesn't have separate RCA input plugs or a 3.5mm stereo input plug for audio with the HDMI plug. The Mini-DVI to HDMI doesn't carry audio and there're no audio plugs on most TVs to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI.

  • Additional Extended Withholding Tax for Chile.

    Dear Gurus,
I've received a request for an additional WIthholding tax used in chile for Foreigner which are not living at chile.
The description I've received was as follows.
If a Downpayment is applied the Withholding Tax should be set at the Downpayment.
after that when the Invoice is loaded, the remaining WIthholding tax should be calculated.
I've created two Tax types one for invoice and one for payments. with their corresponding Tax Codes.
Take this as an example: Final Invoice 10000   WTh 20%
F-48 Downpayment of 5000 , estimates WTh of 1000 this leaves
    5000  Vendor,
    1000 to WTh and
    4000 to outgoing payment
After that I enter the invoice reducing the WTh ammount to the remaining part (5000)
that leaves the following accounting doc
    Expenses 10000
    to Vendor  9000
    Wth           1000
then I make a compensation at f-54 for the 5000 Downpayment. but when generating the final payment of the invoice the F110 is calculating as follows.
    wht         1000
    Vendor   9000
    to  vendor        5000
    Wth                  2000
    Payment          3000
Doing this it's estimating the nother 1000 of the remaining part of the paymen side of the Wth.
Could anyone let me know if there's a way to make it avoid making this estimation since the whole withholding tax has finished when the invoice arrived.
Thanks in advance for any information you could provide.
    Regards

    Hi Srinivas,
No additional customization required for customers credit Memo TDS except this one. All configuration setting for Vendor withholding Tax procedure also applicable to Customers.
Go to ASSIGN WITHHOLDING TAX TYPES TO COMPANY CODES
then select subject to w/tx check box under customer data

  • I am in Florida with my iPad, find my iPad says I am in Chile. What is the problem?

Find my iPad says my location is Chile. I am currently using it here in Florida. My friends also say my location is Chile. Any solutions?

Then you'd best hop on a palne and get it. Just kidding. If it's a wifi ipad, switch wifi off then back on. If it's a 3G ipad, then pop the sim card out, restart the ipad and then pop the sim card back in. The in My friends app, just check your location. Also make sure location services are switched on.
