Ogg support for Creative MediaSource Pla

Hi I just started using the Creative MediaSource Player that came with the Soundblaster X-Fi Plantinum and I am trying to find out if there is ogg support for it. It doesn't seem to recognize ogg files. Does anyone know of a plugin or some way to enable ogg support for it.
Thanks,
Travis

As a Last.FM moderator we see quite a lot of threads and requests passing by for a pplugin that would allow people to "scrobble" the tracks they played on any of Creatives MP3-players. (Take a look at http://www.last.fm/forum/276/_/26462, for example). The problem Last.FM faces here is that, by the looks of it, getting a timestamped log-file from plays on a Creative-player is not possible (don't quote me here, I am just the messenger, and have hardly any knowledge concerning the plugins...)I do know that there is a community that is pretty positi've about Last.FM and that moderators nor staff can help them here. Perhaps the nice people developing the software for your players might want to take a look at the site and decide that it might be a nice idea to open up the software a bit, or develop a plugin themselfs. It might prevent people (like me) from buying an iPod, which does allow me to submit my listened songs to the site...

  • Should I install "Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.20 for Creative MediaSourc

I have the Play For Sure firmware on my Zen Touch, now I'm going to first install the driver on my computer, then install the creative media source, then the play for sure software suite, and then the media source CD plugin. Should I also install the Zen & Nomad Jukebox plugin afterward or that's only for ppl who haven't upgraded the firmware?
    Thanks!

The "Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.20 for Creative MediaSource" is for those who have the non-PlaysForSure firmware. So, you do not need to install it.

  • Cannot play audio CD with Creative MediaSource Pla

    Hi All,
I recently installed an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum soundcard and the Creative MediaSource Player software. I also purchased Creative 5. Analog speakers. Have everything configured pretty well now and really enjoying the enhanced sounds!
My problem is that I cannot play audio CDs using the MediaSource Player. I can see my DVD Player and CD Player in the MediaSource Player 'Source' column and a list of all the tracks on the CD. (no track info, just track numbers and length)
When I double-click on a track it cycles through all the tracks and then places an 'X' next to each one in the 'Now Playing' list window. If I have other music files from my harddri've available, it will start playing one of them.
I've tried different CDs with the same results.
I can use both the DVD and CD dri'ves to play an audio CD if I use any other player (Winamp, Windows Media Player, etc.) and use both dri'ves everyday for loading software and reading files. It will also read the demo DVD Audio disk that came with the card using the DVD-Audio player they provide so I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with the hardware or drivers.
I've read all the info that came with the card and on the Creative Web site and have been through every configuration screen multiple times but haven't found a switch that turns this feature on.
Would like to get this working so I can standardize on one player that allows me to use all the advanced features of my new card.
Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this.

A good way to see what kinds of things you might need for something like vlc is to look at the optional dependencies for the package.  So if you do pacman -Qi vlc if the package is installed on your system already, or pacman -Si vlc if not yet installed, you can see in the output what kinds of optional dependencies there are.  Typically there is a short description of the extra functionality that the optional dependency can provide as well.
So in the case of vlc (and the libcdio optional dep) I get:
    $ pacman -Qi vlc
    Name           : vlc
    <SNIP>
Optional Deps  : avahi: for service discovery using bonjour protocol [installed]
                     <SNIP SOME MORE>
                     projectm: for ProjectM visualisation plugin
libcaca: for colored ASCII art video output [installed]
                     libgme: for libgme plugin [installed]
                     librsvg: for SVG plugin [installed]
gnome-vfs: for GNOME Virtual File System support
                     libgoom2: for libgoom plugin
vcdimager: navigate VCD with libvcdinfo [installed]
                     xosd: for xosd support
aalib: for ASCII art plugin [installed]
libmtp: for MTP devices support [installed]
smbclient: for SMB access plugin [installed]
libcdio: for audio CD playback support [installed]
                     ttf-freefont: for subtitle font
                     ttf-dejavu: for subtitle font [installed]

  • Creative Mediasource Pla

When I click on the icon I get an error message that says <B>
Creative MediaSource Player has encountered a problem and needs to close.
    </B>
I deleted files and folders under "C:\Documents and Settings\YourName\Application Data\Creative\ Mediasource but it didn't fix the problem. The problem started this morning. I have been having a lot of problems with static in the sound on my MS Flight Simulator (FS2004) program so I updated my creative drivers online and this problem began. I tried uninstalling the new drivers and loading the old ones from my installation CD but that did not help. I ran the creative diagnostics and it says the SoundFont fails. Running the fix does not help. It still fails the test. I tried restoring defaults from the start menu and got an error message there also. Audio HQ, Surround Mixer, EAX console etc. nothing will execute.

Yes, I know. Your wondering why I even ask then. But I just can't help wondering what the heck it is. I also asked tech support and requested screen shots of it--they sounded very interested. So now I am curious as to what they might say.

I bought a USB external Surround 5. last week which had a Creative Labs sticker on it saying "Vista Ready - go to www.creative.com to download drivers". Yet having done so I discover that most of the features on the box do not work.
I want it for 5. sound and soundfonts - but both these are missing. If these are not going to be supported (and soon!) please can Creative confirm this. Then I will take it back to the shop (PCWorld UK) and advise them that is DOES NOT DO what it says on the box. I will tell them that they should peel the stickers off - because it is clearly not true that it is Vista ready!Message Edited by markburleigh on 04-27-200704:38 PM

  • Support for Creative Web Cam

Does Creative have any plan to support my web cam 550, or do i have throw it out?
    Please advise.

You don't need to use the headset. You can just use the regular devices plugged into the sound card of your computer which would include a microphone and speakers. If you have a laptop, a microphone and speakers are usually built in. The headset just tends to be more private and convenient and creates fewer problems when you're a alone.

  • Support for Creative Cloud

Adobe is starting to irritate me already and I haven't purchased anything.
How do I contact someone with questions about purchases made online?

This forum is about installing the Cloud manager and then the actual programs
Individual program support begins at the Forums Index https://forums.adobe.com/welcome
You will be able to select a forum for the specific Adobe product(s) you use
Click the "down arrow" symbol on the right (where it says All communities) to open the drop down list and scroll
The only telephone support I know about is Return, cancel, or exchange an Adobe order

  • Audible Support for Creative Zen

Hi there,?I have just purchased Creative Zen Wav from the following site.
?http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/p/crea...uilt-speakers/?The device has arri'ved, the sole purpose I bought this one is to listen to Audible audio book.
There seems to be quite a lot of Creative devices on Audible's supported device list, along with the following keyword on the site. ......[*]Supported Music Services: Audible Ready.
<[/list]...... It turn out, however, that this device has not yet supported Audible audio format. I suggest Creative put a very clear keyword on the advertisement or product description (esp. on the Compare page) saying "This device DOES NOT SUPPORTED Audible audio (yet) ."???

    DM,
I agree. I'm sure the other players were in the works or close to being ready to release when these came out. I know I'm beating a dead horse, but I was so disappointed when the Zen Touch was not added to Audible after I was told before purchase it would be, so now I aggrevate Creative about Audible. I do hope they add Audible support to the new players. I hate that I bought the ZSP and then it won't be Audible compatible. I like the Zen Vision M.

  • Re: creative mediasource pla

After I shut down Media Player, Surround Mixer, and the Equalizer, how do I get it to startup in the same position it was in when I shut it down? I am getting tired of having to reposition the windows everytime. And since I always use these three apps, is there a way to start all three with one click aside from placing all of them in the StartUp folder and having it start upon boot up?
    Thanks

  • MSN Messenger stops Creative Mediasource Pla

My 24 Li've External card works perfectly well with Media source player - until - I log on to MSN Messenger v.7. Then my PC tells me there is no sound device installed. Device manager tells me the device is working probably. I am fed up using System Restore. Any help guys?

In Device Manager under Sound, Video and Game Controllers I have: - Audio CodecsLegacy Audio Di'versLegacy Video Capture devicesMedia Control DevicesRealtek AC'97 AudioSound Blaster Li've! 24 bit externalVideo Codecs?Sound Blaster Li've properties says that the device is working properly - which it is at the moment. The loss of sound is frequent, on booting up. Once it is on it does not "fail" whilst in use. It?comes back after using system restore, re-installing the soundblaster software or sometimes just on rebooting.
?The Sound Blaster is always shown as "working properly" even when it is not?

I installed MS5 using auto update but it did not uninstall the old media source. After the install of MS5 I was having a conflict with another program that is in my startup folder causing it to not start. So I uninstalled media source 3 thru add and remove programs in control panel and it seems to have fixed the conflict with the program in the startup folder. Media Source 5 works fine but when I check the Creative website for updates it wants me to install all the Media Source 3 programs. Is this necessary or a glitch at Creative?
It seems that MediaSource 3 and MediaSource 5 are designed to coexist with each other. I believe that MediaSource 3 may still be needed for some (old) products. That may be the reason why installing MediaSource 5 does not automatically uninstall MediaSource 3.

  • Creative Mediasource for Creative Zen (2-38

    Hey everyone,
I am well aware that the current version of Creative Mediasource is not available for the Creative Zen. Now I figured that eventually they would make a version compatible with the Zen. I'm currently up to my 3rd Generation of Creative Mp3 players (from Zen Touch to Zen Vision: M to Zen 32 gb ), and I constantly used Creative Mediasource to edit the track information, usually the genres which awere so totally confused (Hip Hop should never be associated with Country :S). However, now that the Zen operates through Windows Media Explorer, instead of being able to select whole cds and right clicking them to 'edit genre', I now have to individually select each song and rewrite the details.. this could be a problem in the near future; I just got my mp3 player last tuesday, and though right now i'll manage, my media database is a little off in terms of assortment, and editing 600 tracks manually seems to be a rather tedious task >.< So, my question is(are):
When (if they ever decide to do so) will a Creative mediasource version for the Creative Zen be released?
Is there a faster method that I'm unaware of to edit the tracks?
I did take the time to look through the forums before I wrote this, taking the precautions by searching for Creative Mediasource, Creative Mediasource Zen flash, etc. Thanks in advance!

Well, I usually avoid Windows Media Player because the computer I use is also used by the rest of the family, and every once in a while it chooses to autosync music onto my Zen.. but if you say it's useful to edit multiple ID3 Tags (so that's the official name for them, oh..), i'll give it another try. And I'll try MediaMonkey too, because it sounds like the program was made specifically to make ID3 tag updating easier.
    Thanks for all your help!

  • Creative MediaSource Go! software updat

I've scanned the postings and can't find an answer to this. How do I update Creative MediaSource Go! to a newer version? I was viewing the other updates available for my system, I saw that the CMS Go! version needed to be 3.0 or newer. I have .0.26.0 and SB Audigy 2, which came with my Dell in 2004. After I updated the driver about 2 weeks ago, everything seems to be working fine, but if there is a way to update CMS Go!, I can't find it.
With all the problems people seem to be having with SB lately, I'm reluctant to fix something that currently isn't broken, but I'm thinking about the future. If I don't update what might need updating, will I be abandoned at a later date?
    Thanks.
