"Oh, it's just Photoshopped!"

I don't know about you guys, but I hate, hate, HATE it when people say that every picture on the web (and even elsewhere) is "just Photoshopped."
I finally got so sick of it I did a Google query to find out how wide-spread the problem really is. In Google I search the exact quote, "say it's photoshpped." In case you're interested the results were:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22say+it%27s+photoshopped%22&btnG=Search&aq=f&oq=&aq i=
Seems that these days, whenever somebody sees something a bit strange in a pic, or even slightly out of the ordinary.... it must, of course, be "photoshopped." I like what one person said about some of the Baldwin Street, the world's "steepest street" comments, where everybody was crying "it's been photoshopped!" His quote: "I hate all of you. Ben knows it’s real you retards. People just say it’s photoshopped to see if you’ll get mad or try to prove it’s not." Source: http://qualityjunkyard.com/2008/10/27/baldwin-street-worlds-steepest-street/ . Some people even claim that (get this) you can tell if it's been photoshopped or not because, if you zoom into the pic real, real close, you will "see pixels." Wha? Huh? Well no sh*t you'll see pixels. That's what every image is made up of. Even a digital camera captures images via "pixels" in the sensor. Your whole computer monitor is nothing but pixels. Your television is pixels.
On social networking sites, I myself have put up some pictures of somewhat extraordinary things (things, situations, or stunts I do) only to have morons cry photoshop.
How do we get rid of this disease? How do we start and spread a viral campaign like wild-fire to educate the low-brows that Photoshop is not a magical picture maker box. How do we get it through their heads that you just don't open the app, push a few buttons, and VOILA! You have any picture you want pop out? How do we explain to them that it takes YEARS of enduring a steep learning curve, dedication, mastery and expertise with the program to create an image that could fool or at least puzzle the experts?
I'm tired of the "it's been Photoshopped" disease... and it is a disease, like a cancer. It's becoming more and more wide-spread to the point that many times you don't even feel like posting pics anymore. Anybody ever feel the same way?

We all like people to look at our art.  But Pride/Vanity are sins!  And you are seeing where they lead, no?
Practical Moral of the Story:  Why worry so much about what the utter morons on the wild internet say?
Not only that but:  Why post photos on a place called QualityJunkyard.com and hope for nice comments?
What do you care what some envious teenage boob with too much money and free time thinks or writes?  Most of them are so stupid and immature they can't even put 3 words together properly, couldn't hope to even post a photo on the web (much less Photoshop it themselves), nor even figure out how to work anything but a cell phone camera themselves.  Their computer will stop working in a few days anyway, considering the sites they must visit - they'll be the victims of more malware than they can fathom.  If there should ever come any significant challenge to their survival, rest assured they'll be gone first - recipients of Darwin awards one and all.  Pity them, for they will die lonely and will have missed most of what the world offers because they have have kept their empty heads down texting profanity to some other learning-challenged individual.
You'll have less stress in your life and you'll live longer if you avoid and ignore the idiots who have nothing better to do than to try to make you feel bad.
And hey, you can smile inwardly knowing it would take as much or more skill to Photoshop a flying bicyclist or slanted road seamlessly into a photo than it did just to stand there and press the shutter button at the right time.  If you absolutely MUST answer the freaks who disparage your work, just say, "Thanks!  It would have taken more technical skill to put together something this realistic and believable in Photoshop than it did to simply photograph it, so I'll take that as a compliment."
Relax, and enjoy your day.

  • I subscribed to Adobe CC and I discontinued it. Now I need to install just Photoshop. Can I install the free 30 day trial because it is asking for an application and I don't understand this. I need this asap because I am teaching a full day class on PS th

I had subscribed to the full CC program and then stopped it.
Now i have an emergency need to just Photoshop 6 (is that also cc?).
I learned on short notice that I will be teaching a Photoshop a full day this Thursday and need to plan today.
Could someone please help me download either the free trial or the monthly subscription for Photoshop asap?

Gailm68577904 what version of Photoshop exactly are you trying to download?  If you are wishing to evaluate Photoshop CC 2014 then please see Creative Cloud Help | Install, update, or uninstall apps for information on how to install.
If you are wishing to install Photoshop CS6 then the installation files can be found at Download CS6 products.  If you have a registered serial number for Creative Suite 6 it will be available under your account at http://www.adobe.com/.  You can find more details on how to locate your registered serial number at Find your serial number quickly.

  • Is it possible to purchase just photoshop (Mac) as a disk or download?

I need CS3 or later but want new - not a used product, having read about licensing and installation problems. I don't need the entire CS, just Photoshop. Elements are too limited. Thanks!

Adobe does not sell licenses for old version.  The licence is what you want.  The software can be downloaded from Adobe web site.  Licensed users can download and install the old version of Photoshop from Adobe.com and use their License key to Activate the software.  Protect yourself there are many software scams on ebay....

  • Does the end of the year upgrade policy also include just Photoshop?

I understand CS3 and CS4 are eligible for upgrades to CS6 until the end of the year, but what about upgrading from PS4 to PS6? I normally upgrade to every version, but due to being layed up for 8 months with a knee injury money is extremely tight, so I was planning to wait and upgrade from CS4 to CS6. I heard about the new (now old) upgrade policy so I upgraded to CS5 a few days ago. Now I see that Adobe changed the upgrade policy again. Now I'm wondering if I can return CS5 and wait to upgrade to CS6 later in the year when I have more cash flow.

    Hi Coldrake
Yes, all CS3 and CS4 products, whether they're a suite or stand-alone product, like Photoshop, as a one-off arrangement this year only, can wait 'til December 31st 2012 to upgrade directly to CS6... of course, we don't know how much that will cost!
Thank you, pf22, that answers my question perfectly. I'd love to keep PS5, especially with the discount, but as I said, after being off work for so long, money is extremely tight at the moment and will be for the next couple of months.
Of course we also have the "Grace Period" coming up where you could purchase the CS5 upgrade and get CS6 for free
It looks like it's going to be a few months before PS6 will be coming out, so I may be able to swing that, thank you for an excellent suggestion.
Thank you Noel for covering all the bases! I don't have the suite, just Photoshop.
Thanks for both of your replies, they are greatly appreciated.

  • I have photoshop cc. Now I see an offer for lightroom and photoshop for a lower price. Can I subscribe to that service instead of just photoshop cc?

I have photoshop cc. Now I see an offer for lightroom and photoshop for a lower price. Can I subscribe to that service instead of just photoshop cc? I currently pay $19.95 for just photoshop.

Ron , You need to contact Adobe Customer Support, then cancel current Photoshop single app subscription and then subscribe to Creative Cloud Photography subscription -$9.99 , it includes both Photoshop as well Lightroom and lightroom mobile apps.

  • I just updated Creative Cloud and it disappeared from my desktop.  In my profile, there is no longer a subscription to Creative Cloud--Just Photoshop for CS3 customers.  What is going on?

A few minutes ago I got a Creative Cloud update notification.  I ran the update and Creative Cloud disappeared from my desktop.  What happened?  I still have Photoshop CC and Bridge CC.  But will I still get CC updates?  Also I no longer seem to have a Creative Cloud subscription--just something that looks like a monthly fee for keeping Photoshop for customers with Photoshop CS3+.  What is going on?

I just had an online Chat with Adobe Support, and we uninstalled CC Desktop and reinstalled it.  That fixed the problem.  I have no idea what CAUSED the problem though.

  • IPhoto 11 plus Photoshop Elements 10 or Just Photoshop Elements 10?

I am a recent convert to iMac having started with iphone and then ipad.  I now what to organise a couple of years complete unorganised photos.  I would appreciate recommendations on whether I should use iphoto 11 and photoshop elements as my external editor or just use photoshop elements 10 as both my organiser and editor? I am using Lion as my OS.
As inferred above I have no tags, albums or libraries my photos are completely unorganised so no converting - looking at clean imports to either programme but would be interested in pros and cons of both routes suggested.  For example would using iphoto plus elements rather than just elements give me better integration with iphone 4, ipad 2 and apple TV.
    Thanks in advance
    Mark

You can use Photoshop Elememts 10 with iPhoto just as you can with Photoshop or any other image editor.  The organization features of Elements is essentially file/folder management and really not digital asset management like iPhoto.  If you decide to use PSE with iPhoto the following should be of some help:
Using Photoshop CS3 or Photoshop Elements 9/10 as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's Advanced Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been edited and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 9/10 the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
s  I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatibility be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
NOTE: If you want to use  iPhoto's editing mode as the default and PS/PSE  as the otpional editor  once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Edit Photos:  in iPhoto".  That will let you either edit in iPhoto using the Edit button or Control-clicking on the thumbnail and selecting "Edit in iPhoto" or in PS/PSE by Control-clicking on the thumbnail and selecting "Edit in External Editor" in the Contextual menu.
This way you get the best of both worlds.

  • Downgrade «Photoshop CS6 Extended» to just «Photoshop CS6», it's standard version?

    Hey,
recently I've replaced my MacBook Pro 17" (Mid 2010) with new Retina (15" / Early 2013) and after I've installed Adobe Photoshop it appears to be Extended version instead of Standart. And I want my standart version back. I didn't use 3D features and I'm okay with standard version. I'm running OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3) if it useful information.
So the question is: How do I downgrade my Photoshop CS6 «Extended» to «Standard» version?
    What I've tried:
    1. Reinstall application. No changes, still Extended version.
    2. Install on differenct computer same install package. I've tried to run this on my Mac Pro — unsuccessful.
    3. Reinstall application on «clean» OS X version on my previous MacBook Pro (17") — everything is okay. Standard version running as it does before.
Please help me solve this little issue, because Google left me without answers.
    Thanks,
    Jake.

    Simple.
It's just one and the same application, just one binary.  What determines whether you get the Extended features or not is your serial number.
If you're on a subscription basis, it will always be the Extended version.
If you're using the trial version, it will be Extended.  When you input a Standard serial number after you purchase it, it will become Standard.
If you've already put in your serial number and registered the applicaton and still see the Extended features, it means you paid for the Extended version.

  • Viable options for having just Photoshop and After Effects?

I have the single app plan for $20/mo, for After Effects. I've come to realize that I would like, as well as I kind of need, Photoshop. However, I don't wish to purchase the complete plan ($50/mo). I noticed there is a Photography plan for $10/mo, however since I already have a plan I'm unsure as to how I would go about getting two plans, or if there is a way to add on to my current plan. If I have the Photography and the Single App plan together it would be $30/mo, and I would have everything I need for $20 less than the complete.
Any viable options, advice, or suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    - Infinity

You can of course get the photography plan, you just do not "add" it. It's simply a completely separate purchase.

  • Just photoshop and Illustrator

    Hi
I was wondering if it is possible just to use download Photoshop and Illustrator on Creative cloud rather than the whole suite? The monthly fee is rather expesive for the whole suite and I am looking for something a little cheaper bearing in mind that I only use these two programmes.
    Kind regards
    Mike

There currently is not a two-application license for the Creative Cloud. I wouldn't expect Adobe to make something like this available any time soon.

  • Purchased Full CC membership, wanting to cancel that and switch to just Photoshop/Lr

In May of this year, I purchased the full Creative Cloud membership, allowing me to download any program on to my desktop. But now, not being able to work I can't afford the $50 a month and am wanting to switch from the full membership to just the Photoshop/Lightroom plan for $10/month and possibly pick up a single plan of Illustrator for $19.99. My question is, do I have to cancel my full membership completely, un-install all of the programs including Ps, Lr, Ai and then re-download those three? Or is there a way to switch memberships without un-installing and re-installing them?

  • Can I install just Photoshop from CS5 on my laptop I have Design Premium

I mostly use my desktop but do a bit of traveling. My laptop doesnt have a ton of memory but I was hoping I could just install Photoshop since that is what I use the most.

If it meets the minimum specs, yes.

  • Can I upgrade just Photoshop from Creative Suite 5?

I only want to pay for the CS6 upgrade for Photoshop.  Is it possible if I have the CS5 creative suite or do I have to upgrade (and pay for) the whole thing?

Suites can only be upgraded to suites. There's no way to just upgrade a single program. It has been forever this way.
