OH MAAN this is weird

Apple just release Aperture 1.1 as a free download
and we had to pay for logic 7.1 and 7.2
i thought they said for every .X will cost money but .x.x is free
whats up with that ?

When a pro app knocks $200 off of it's price it means there are problems. Aperture just wasn't a smart move for Apple. Here's why:
* Targeting pro photogrophers who are all dedicated Adobe users.
* Apple and Adobe have this thing about each other which means that Apple isn't going to build something that intuitively connects with Adobe products.
* Photographers need Photoshop.
* Apple's first entry into the Pro photo market is a program which Adobe didn't have yet, but doesn't replace the bread and butter (Photoshop) meaning that it's really just adding an extra step to the photographers workflow, and it's not integrated step.
* So while it looked really cool and had some nice features it just didn't fit in with workflow unless you just became a pro photog and had never heard of Photoshop before.
The last thing is that Adobe had already been working on this app previously and dedicated years of R&D to it, but never released because generally there wasn't a great demand. But, as soon as Apple releases Aperture, Adobe let's the alpha version of their app (Lightroom) go out publicly and begin building for release (now in beta 2 I think) to coincide with CS3, which will render Aperture useless.
Sooooooo... at least Adobe isn't making audio products. Oh yeah, they are. Have you seen Audition. Soundtrack Pro look out. I think this is why they took STP off the market as a solo app. Audition is bundled with DV Production Studio (Final Cut competitor), which is only on PC's now but scheduled to appear on Mac's in '07 at which time the competition may just be too much for Apple.
Which is why they should focus on making the stuff they do best (Logic) better instead of messing around in places they don't really belong.

Well you can't use it. The iOS 7 Activation Lock is pretty secure and you can't bypass it.

In terms of dragging the clip; I am taking it from upper left hand corner of the screen which I believe is called the Event library and taking it down to the middle of the screen. But in the middle of the screen is the daggone audio wave file and all I am doing is putting that clip on top of the audio wave file and when I play, I get both audios!
I remember working in iMovie 09 and iMovie 06 you would drag your clips down into the time line and do your editing there. That doesn't seem to be working here. I appreciate your help more than I can say. I've got to get a DVD out ASAP and it has to be done in FCP X

Is My Iphone 3gs the only one that does this really weird glitch

ok i have a issue i looked everywhere and i did not see anything in the forums about this
when i am replying to a text message and auto-spell types something so i hit the back button/delete key to rewrite what i want to type and it does not delete the text it just goes over the letters and doesn't delete it and sometimes the cursor will just get stuck and sometimes the cursor when i am deleting text will keep going over the letters i am typing and doesn't do anything , so as i hit back/delete button on keyboard it just keeps going over the letters and does not delete its really weird, and this is my 2nd new iphone 3gs for a different issue, and they both did that.
what i want to know is if this is a hardware problem and should i take it in to get it replaced again which i hate doing,since i got a good iphone 3gs this time...has this happened to anyone else,or does this happen to anyone else

Well if it happened to 2 different iphones perhaps something is corrupted in your backup restore file. By restoring your new phone with this old backup restore file u may be copying over the problem.
Solution: Restore and setup your iphone as a 'New' phone instead of restoring from a previous backup. This should solve your problem.

OK this is weird- like Gremlins weird- Images removed from vault

On the drive where my main A3 library lives- NOT on the drive where my vault lives- I just found an "Images removed from vault" folder. It's 36.55GB and contains images that I did not delete from my library. It gets weirder: those images are not gone from my library! The images dates range from 2007-2011. I haven't found a common denominator yet.

I had been having a great deal of trouble with my vault drive: sometimes it wouldn't mount, and updating the vault would hang when it did mount. The third cable I was tried finally gave me a stable mount, but it kept hanging at the same place updating the vault.
I ran repairs on both the the library and the vault drives and did all the trouble shooting on the library. Same thing. Finally, I wiped the vault drive and started over. The new vault was created without issue. (This is a 450GB vault on a 500GB drive- I know, I know)
I noticed the "gremlin" folder today after I copied over an old 1.56 library- that was unrelated to the images in question- to pull up some old client work. I don't remember seeing it there before, but it was dated the day before I resolved the vault issues.
@Nathan: It was at the same level as the library, and they were equivalent to masters: CRWs, CR2s and PSDs.

So this is weird...... any ideas?

After getting the latest updates on my system for final cut, motion and so on I have been having weird problems. Any motion file that has a filter on it won't open up and causes final cut to crash. The really weird part is when I try to open the motion files in motion, when it doesn't quit, it will open up a file called "sports comp.rattle". I have never made a file of this name, very weird. Suggestions? It would be great if I didn't have to re-install but I will try that if no one thinks of anything... thanks... any one else have this happen?

I don't want to argue with you on this point but what we usually find at the end of "Apple broke my stuff" threads is something the user has done that is remarkably simple and ridiculously subtle, impossible to find.
I am the victim/villain in more than a few such issues with our FCP systems. Trying hard to fix one now, matter of fact. From within FCP, I get a red "Effect failed to render" panel when invoking several FxPlugs or FsScript effects from Motion. The same effects work fine in Motion. Is it Apple's fault? Probably not since I can get no one else on any FCP forum to declare they have the same issue. Did I cause it? Dunno. Compressor crashes if I touch the interface. It's weird and a few other folks have a similar issue. No one can tell if they are related. It's probably outdated Flip4Mac or Flash codecs causing the problem in Compressor but how could I know for sure?

Well, this is weird.

Not a new mac user, but this ones got me stumped.
I fell asleep with my imac on a dresser next to my bed, the keyboard and mouse were both on my bed, so i imagine i hit some weird button or clicked something in my sleep, and now the screen is oversized i guess? well, basically i have to scroll down to see the icons on the dock, and then i have to scroll back up to see the top taskbar, and to see the time on the far right i have to scroll the mouse over all the way to the right, it is kind of frustrating, can someone please help me?

Crazy Transitions, this is weird.

First I had that "Internal Muxing Error", now this:
some menus appear to have a transition, in Graphical view they have the little black triangle in the bottom right corner, but... there is no transition set! I tried setting a transition then removing it, no way, the triangle stays there, and what is REALLY weird is that the build HAS those transition that I never wanted!

Hi all,
I have a very weird bug going on.
After i come back to a song that i have saved (maybe the previous day) i find that some plugins have addopted completely different settings to the ones i have saved. This can happen to any number of tracks (including none!)and any plug in (Logic and external). Audio instruments can change instrument and today i found a random synth note on a piece of audio (an acoustic guitar) that wasn't there yesterday!!
This totally undermines my feeling of safety when i save and often messes up very crafted mixes!
Has anyone experienced anything similar....is there anyone to solve my christmas headache.

The synth note thing was weird. I can excuse you for thinking it was pilot error (i thought the very same thing!). But i saved the song....it wasn't there....and when i came back to it, from the 1st play it stood out like a sore thumb....i changed nothing! Very weird. I shall keep you informed of my progress.

This is weird man!

So I have my HDV footage (1440x1080) imported into CS3. Project settings: 720x480 16:9.
Since as long as I've used Premiere, I've always had to render HDV footage from the timeline.
Now don't ask me how I did this because I've tried to duplicate this with no luck. I was messing with INTERPRET FOOTAGE on a particular clip and somehow the clip became smaller in the source window. When I took said clip and added it to the timeline, gone was the red bar at the top necessitating the need to render.
Anyone know what I did? (I don't have the answer, however this is saving me a remarkable amount of time in rendering).

With the proper hardware, software and project settings, yes. Just drag then to the time line and drop them. No rendering required, unless you have the MainConcept plug-in installed. Then it requires rendering. Weird but true.

and the weird thing is i got 25 with 44.1khz and 24 bit
and only 10 on 96khz 24 bit
funny thing is logic or the OSX didn't use my 4GB of rams instead it used only 1GB even though the CPU was crapping out
I tried everything with the Process Buffer Range from small MEDium to LARGE even switch the Large disk buffer on and off nothing happen
even changing the buffer size to 1024 didn't help
I'm starting to thing when does logic uses the rams and on what plug-ins uses the rams most
And for most Users recording at 96Khz or above you might need really really powerful mac or more nodes to do a big session with lots of plug-ins and 96khz live audios
Anyone should try this and see as well maybe it might be my system
check the differences between nodes and normal as well if you can and tell us your setup
Also even though the plug-ins are bypassed they are actually counted in the rams try it and see
the more you add the more the ram usage goes up ( bypass or not bypass ) this is on spacedesign though

so the rams only counts on EXS24 Reason and GPO
because i tried most synths i didn't see the rams moving much and i tried it on Spacedesign which was kind of shocking but it was more of CPU than rams
i can go over 50 EXS24 and CPU will be like around 50% with big samples on 96khz but when i put even 7 spacedesign in 96khz song the CPU craps out
i personally though the more the rams more smoother the Spacedesign can run
so now it makes sense on why EXS24 doesn't get process on node but why doesn't space design doesn't make use of the rams
the rams is up to 2.5GB with 50 EXS24 but when i add the spacedesign to them, the rams doesn't move and the CPU craps out
hmm altiverb lets me get up to 8 but i still don't get why it eats up CPU that much and none of the other FX doesn't

I just got my new imac today from fedex and I'm having some problems early on ok I got quite afew programs that run windows and mac and none of them will install and run right take warcraft 3 for example it just crashes as soon as you run it then there myst 4 and 5 don't run right either all of them just crash whats going on with this thing anyways love the computer but getting very fustrated that nothing I have runs on this mechine.

The older iMacs used PowerPC chips from IBM/Motorola. Software for those Macs were written in binary code specifically for those chips. The new iMacs have Intel chips and software must be written in binary code for those chips. In this interim period Apple has incorporated into the Operating System software called Rosetta, named for the famous stone which finally allowed archeologists to decipher ancient Egyptian. Rosetta allows software applications written for PPC Macs to run on Intel Macs by translating the PPC binary code into native Intel binary code on the fly, or in real time. However, it has its drawbacks, especially where games are involved. PPC software using Rosetta are much more memory intensive than native Intel software. There is a new creature added to the mix called Universal binaries. These are a new breed of software applications that contain both PPC and Intel binary code. They can run on both PPC and Intel Macs
So, first you need a lot of RAM to run games. Second if the game manufacturer has issued a patch to your game that makes it more Intel friendly or updates it to be a Universal binary, it is to your advantage to check with the game maker and download and install the patch. Third, Windows games will not run on Intel Macs unless you have used one of the methods available to install Windows XP on your Intel Mac.

IPhoto Preferences, This is WEIRD!

In iPhoto preferences>advanced>edit photos, you can choose to edit photos in iPhoto (dropdown menu), or (in my case) Photoshop Elements. I cant remember the exact order of events, but I'm pretty sure that, as always I was editing in PSE, but I wanted use iPhoto editing to make a quick change. So I change the option in pref>advanced to iPhoto.
This is the weired bit....When I went back in to revert to edit photos in PSE, the option had gone, and was replaced by the file number of the the photo I was working on!! Cant get rid of it!!
Is this a first? Does anyone have a clue?

In the advanced preferences window under edit photos what exactly happens when you select "in P1010515..."
as I said it should open a selection window so you can select PSE again
iPhoto has the capability to directly interface with any external editor - simply go to the iPhoto preferences (iPhoto menu ==> preferences ==> General and set the Edit photo option to in external editor - select the desired external editor (if you have a previously seleted external editor you must reselect it to the the window to select a new one) and you are set - now when you edit photos they are sent to the selected external editor and when you are finished editing you save (not save as) and the edited photo is returned to iPhoto, the original is maintained in iPhoto and the iPhoto database is correctly updated.
If you want the option of editing in either iPhoto or the external editor after selecting your external editor simply set the edit in back to main window - now when you right click (control Click) on a photo you will get a menu which allows you to select either.

I have a number of iWeb websites such as www.sbls.co.uk
If you launch a browser and look at the pages they are fine. If however you change the text size, by just one point in the browser, the titles on some of the iweb pages goes huge, like 100points and renders that page useless. Decreasing the text size does not help you have to quit the browser and try again.
If you goto the page and then adjust font size in the browser it works just fine. Its if you change font size before going to the website. Its repeatable.
it does it in both Safari and Firefox for me and is likely a bug in iWeb. Does anyone else experience this with their web pages? I am at a loss what to do.

No. If you failed to turn off Find my iPhone BEFORE you upgraded to iOS 7, you will need the original Apple ID and password. If you upgraded to iOS 7 you will need this info; there is no way around this. If it is the device passcode you will need to restore your iPhone in order to reset that, which in the end will require your Apple ID and password in order to activate the phone once it is restored.
Why don't you have the original Apple ID? Where did you get the phone?
