OID installation : Oracle Directory Manager
Hello
This is a 'please tell me what step i am missing' type of question.
I have completed the OID installation.
When I login into the Oracle Directory Manager using the cn=orcladmin user I see a blank page and most of the Menu Items greyed out.
Can you please advise on which post-installation I am missing out on?
Thanks
Cyril
Well, none.
This should give you a complete access. Check your installActions.log file for errors.

Can't start Oracle Directory Manager
Hi,
I have installed and configured OID in OFM11g, but I have no idea how to validate it. I am not sure whether I configured it successful.
I have installed identity server 10.1.4.3.0 refering to link . It said that if I installed it successful, I can start OAM Identity Server service ( [step 18|http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/fusion_middleware/im1014/ovd-oam/oam-ovd/install_oam/install_oam.htm#t2] Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services, right-clicking the Oracle Access Manager Identity Server (identity) service, and selecting Start.) However, when I start the service, I can't see Oracle Directory Manager ( [step 19|http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/fusion_middleware/im1014/ovd-oam/oam-ovd/install_oam/install_oam.htm#t2] ). Actually, nothing happened.
When you completed the installation of Identity Server, could you open the Oracle Directory Manager ?
Your help is appreciate.
Best,
Sunny.Zhang
Edited by: Sunny.Zhang on 2009-10-4 上午10:21Hi,
You can validate OID installation through 'opmnctl' and/or 'ldapbind'. You can access 'Oracle Directory Services Manager' through a browser using the url -
'http://<host>:<port>/odsm/faces/odsm.jspx'.
Here is a link which shows screenshots of the overview of 'Oracle Directory Services Manager'.

Error trying to log into Oracle Directory Manager
I am receiving an error message when I try to log into Oracle Directory Manager. This is the first time I am trying to log in, I am trying to login with the username cn=orcladmin, and with the password welcome, which is the default. I then receive the error message "Server is not up and running". I thought I started an OID instance with oidctl.
I am running on w2k.
I am using the default port 389, at least thats what I accepted while installing the infrastructre.
Any advise? From the main page for this forum (http://forums.adobe.com/community/creative_cloud) please see the announcement.

Edited by: user9032138 on Oct 13, 2011 12:13 AMDear Avi Miller,
I have successfully installed both of servers (VM Server 3.0.2 & VM Manager 3.0.2) as below
+ VM Server 3.0.2 on Dell PowerEdge 1950
+ VM Manager 3.0.2 in OEL 6.1 on Sun Fire X4100M2 Server
Refer to Oracle VM Server 3.0 Document, they recommend to do Discover Oracle VM Servers to VM Manager first of all step then do anything else like Creating a Server Pool so I try to do Discover Oracle VM Servers in many times but still not success.
What I try to do Discover Oracle Servers as below:
After I install both already I start to Discover Oracle VM quickly
1. Log into Oracle VM Manager
2. Select the Hardware view.
3. Select Discover from the Actions menu. The Discover Servers dialog box is displayed.
4. Enter information about the Oracle VM Server(s) to be discovered.
5. Specify an IP Address (or rang): IP_of VM Server and Click Add
6. Put password of VM Server Agent
7. Click OK
Wait a minute the Status of VM Manager show fail and when I click Detail it show as below:

Error Oracle Directory Manager
Dear all,
1) I installed Oracle database 10g on windows XP and installed also a loopback: now I can log into database, But when I am trying to connect to Oracle Directory Manager it says "Server is not up and running: host/389". Services are up. Everything seems fine. Can anybody tell me what could be the problem?
2) I used apache of Easyphp to configure port 389 and 636, now host is running on port 389 and 636 but i'm not able to log in Dyrectory Manager. Can anybody tell me what user i have to insert to login? I'm not able to connect and the system not recognize me...

Problem of Connexion to Oracle Directory Manager
When I try to connect to Oracle Directory Manager with
User: orcladmin
Password: welcome
Serveur: localhost

I got a message server is not started, but i check by going contro panel->administor tools-> services and I find OracleDirectoryService_ORCL and OracleServiceORCL are started. But its not possible to start OracleOraHome92HTTPServer because there is maybe a error in windows or a error in the service.
has anybody faced a similar issue. And how to resolve it
Best RegardsIn the screen of connexion to Oracle Directory Manager(part of Oracle9i Database), when I click LOV to select luser, I got a message le server LDAP is stopped and I find in the champ of port is 389 and we cant change it.
So I try again connect to Oracle Directory Manager with

I got also the same message server is not started:localhost/389, and i check by going contro panel->administor tools-> services and I find OracleDirectoryService_ORCL and OracleServiceORCL are always started. -
Error in Agent Installation - oracle Configuration Manager
Hi All,
I m trying to install Agent using this file "Linux_Grid_Control_agent_download_10_2_0_2_0". In between the installation "i got one screen - "oracle configuration manager proxy setting" even it is optional and i have not checked it .... it is not going next. i dont want to configure it (but when i give values proxy ip and port, not accept it). When I click the next button getting the message "The connection to oracle Configuration Manager can not be established, please check your network connection and proxy settings and try again"
Please help with this
Thanks
ShijuHi Shiju,
Is there any specific reason for using 10.2.0.2 agent. The latest Grid Control agent release is 10.2.0.5. I would suggest you to install the same. Also you can configure the OCM at a later point of time.
Hope it helps

Navigator Not Visible in Directory Manager
On Win XP Pro Oracle Directory service does not start on boot, even though it is set to do so automatically. It will start manually from the Windows services app. After starting the service, oidctl runs successfully from the command line "C:\>oidctl connect=oid90 server=oidldapd instance=3 configset=0 start"
On start up Oracle Directory Manager (ODM) accepts the orcladmin/welcome logon and displays the connecting message and loading schema message. ODM opens but does not display the Navigator panel. ODM seems to be connected to the database because Objects, attributes, entries etc. are visible by selecting choices from the Operations menu.
When OID was first installed the navigator sometimes did and sometimes did not display. Now it is never displayed.
Any suggestions appreciated.Hi Jay,
I am a Business Analyst and would like to get Oracle Workflow running so I can play with Workflow Builder. I'm just trying to get my hands dirty with this stuff. I want to use OID as a directory server for workflow.
I uninstalled 9.0.1.1 in installed 9.2.x.x. The results are similar.
The Bind request to LDAP failed error re-appeared. I had somehow worked around this on the previous install but I don't know how. The command ldapbind -h trburns -p 389 -D cn=orcladmin -w ohwgwead returns Cant contact ldap server. The error seems to be common as it appears in numerous postings but I havent seen a clearly described explanation and solution.
Do you have access to Oracles knowledge base? It must have a description of this problem.
I can open ODM after the bind failure by clicking the close icon. Double clicking the banner works in cases where the navigator tree is not visible. Many thanks for that tip.
Any authoritative information you could provide about the bind problem would be appreciated.
Thanks again,

Installing Oracle Enterprise Manager 10G on Fedora 2
During installation Oracle Enterprise Manager on Fedora 2 I receive message, that my computer has 0 Mb RAM , and installation stops. In fact my host has 1024 Mb Ram. It seems to me, that installer can't correctly determine the value of RAM.
How can I switch off this check, or how to provide the installer the right data?generally im specfiying it in c:\documents and settings\Program, but im installing it from c:\documents and settings\my documents\software.
I got another verson of Orcle, ive downladed the developer sute 10g, in this case the college where i go to use, it to connect. so i expect i will have to really uninstll that and the instll in Oracle Enterprise 10g.
ive got screen shots of the process i am going through, in order to get a sucessfull installation.
If anyone has msn please come online so i can send you the screen shots of what is happening when i try and install in Orcale enterprise 10g on my pc

Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control
Please help me.
Here's oracle installing step:
1. Install Oracle 11g software with "Advance" option. I just install software without creating a Data base at this time.
2. Create a Data base with DBCA
I couldn't see the Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control at "Services " window while
"Chapter 3: Getting Started with Oracle Enterprise Manager" says that:
This chapter introduces you to Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control. The Oracle Universal Installer installs Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control when you install the Oracle software. Enterprise Manager Database Control provides a Web-based interface that you can use to manage your Oracle instance and database.
Thank in advance!Hi,
You didn’t create a Database that’s why you don’t have Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control.
Create Database with DBCA and you will get an option “Configure database with Enterprise manager” (step 5).
At the end of DB creation you will get a link for Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control.
Browse the link to open EM Database control.
If you choose to create DB with Oracle installation then you will get Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control.

Oracle Enterprise Manager Agent deployment (Installation and Configuration) Error
Hello,
I am trying to create an agent on a linux server using Oracle Enterprise Manager 12.1.0.3. The user is created with root privilege on the server, by change /etc/sudoers entry username the same as the root entry. After that I tried to add host target by clicking Setup->Add Target->Add target Manually->Add Host Targets in the Oracle Enterprise Manager.
In the Add Target view: I clicked on add, then I entry host and platform information. After that I click next. Then I provided the Linux x86-64 : Installation Details for
Installation Base Directory, Instance Directory, Name Credential ... then click next. then click Deploy Agent.
In the Add Host Status view: stages Initialization and Remote Prerequisite Check successfully passed, but in the stage Agent Deployment, it failed in the Installation and Configuration phrase of the Agent Deployment stage.
The log content is shown below. There are numerous SEVERE Errors. But I don't have much experience in dealing with these type of problems. I thank you in advance for all the helps.

Thank you for your help AkankshaSheoranKaler. I have executed the following command based on your request. If there is any issue, please let me know. Thanks!
"Can you run this command to make sure that the agents bits were downloaded correctly : oms home /bin /emcli verify_updates
Share the output of the command. I am suspecting this is a know issue (Bug 17300008) but i will wait for your output. Also if you can open an SR with oracle support to track this issue and its resolution. "

For each update with missing archives, emcli import_update can be used with a -force option to re-upload the archives to the Software Library.Hello AkankshaSheoranKaler
We have done the following, but we aren't able to resolve this issue. Thank you for your help!

“This happen if the software library is not accessible, readable or unmounted (if it is in shared file system).”
On Enterprise Manager server [nsn175-105], we did the following:
1. we modified /etc/exports to include this line: /export *(rw,no_root_squash,sync)
we start nfs service by executing command “service nfs start”.
On Management Agent server (nsn175-89), we verified that we are able to mount /export directory of EM server.
On Management Agent server, we started firefox browser and were able to run successfully https://nsn175-105.us.oracle.com:4904/empbs/genwallet
After making this change, we ran agent deployment again. We encountered the same error as shown above.
“You can fix the software library or you can download the agent bits in offline mode.”
For fixing the software library, select Setup->Provision and Patching->Offline Patching, then select Offline Patching radio button, download: https://updates.oracle.com/download/em_catalog.zip. Next upload this zip file.
“Try downloading the bits again”
We are not sure what agent bits are. Would you please explain this and provide procedure how we can download this?
(Here I have attempted to fix the software library, but I am new to Enterprise Manager and not sure how to interpret this). -
