  • OID installation without GUI.

    Hi there,
I'm attempting to install OID (10.1.4) on an AIX based system. I'd rather not have an X server installed so I was wondering if its possible to set the installer to have a 'no display' option whereby I can install the thing via an ssh connection.
I've installed OIM in this manner and was hoping that there was a 'headless' approach to installation for OID as well. I have had a look at the installation manual but have only come across the need to have an X server running in order for the OID installation to work.
If anyone could point me in the right direction - that'd be tops! Cheers.

Is this what you are looking for?
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/sol.1012/repca.1012/repca/silent.htm#i1003960
BTW, I am trying to install Oracle Identity & Access Management on AIX myself. Can you please provide me some information like -
Do you need to install the Application Server?
Can you use this for auditing/access control/privilege provisioning etc?
I am looking to implement this just for the database tier first and then expand it to the middle tier. I would greatly appreciate it, if you can share your experience.
    Thanks.

  • Stalled OID installation

    Hi All,
I am installing OID 10.1.4 on a Red Hat Linux server. The server already has Oracle DB 11.2 and OAS 10 running. During the OID installation, the installation stopped at Configuration Assistant's - Oracle Database Configuration Assistant and stay there for hours without progressing. Checked the oradata directory and can't see any dbfs or any files being created there. The only message from the shell which started the installer is 'opmnctl: opmn is already running'.
    Has anyone seen that before?
    Thanks

Eh no, I was referring to the installation that complained about opmn already being started. At that point, you might try stopall, or startall (depending on what the actual status is).
Normally, this should not stall - I have seen this warning before, and it never actually stops the installation process.
However, at some stage the process tries to figure out what ports are being used, and it runs some hideous perl/java code. Just be patient when you find out netstat is running.
    Are you actually installing now?
    Cheers, Frank

  • OID installation : Oracle Directory Manager

    Hello
This is a 'please tell me what step i am missing' type of question.
I have completed the OID installation.
When I login into the Oracle Directory Manager using the cn=orcladmin user I see a blank page and most of the Menu Items greyed out.
Can you please advise on which post-installation I am missing out on?
    Thanks
    Cyril

    Well, none.
This should give you a complete access. Check your installActions.log file for errors.

    my question is
    1) can i use existing schema ? ( which was created by oid(11.1.1.3.0) 32 bit linux )
    2) i try these installations in two different boxes both are showing the same msg's but one ldap is read only mode and another read & write mode . why ?
    thanks in advance

    For your first question:
This should not be a problem. But check here first: http://www.oracle.com/ocom/groups/public/@otn/documents/webcontent/161244.xls
    Second question:
I don't think the problem here(according to the logs) is read only or not. It looks like Directory Integration Plataform(who will provision information thru these) is just not finding OID. So, try telnet from one to another and see if they are 'speaking'. Check all(OID,DIP and Database ports).
    I hope this helps,
    Thiago Leoncio.

Install has detected that port 1521 on your host is currently being used by another product. If this port is being used by an Oracle Network Services listener version 10.1.0.2 or higher, you may elect to continue the install by clicking on the OK button. The existing listener will be used to handle connection requests for this Metadata Repository. If this port is being used by an earlier version of Oracle Network Services listener, or is being used by a non-Oracle product, or you do not want to use the existing compatible Oracle Network Services listener, you must reconfigure the application that is using port 1521 to use another port, shut down that service or application and then click OK to continue with the install.

  • OID Installation Priority (new ORACLE_HOME & repository???)

I am looking to install the following Oracle Products:
    1.) OID
    2.) Oracle 8.1.7 w/ Intermedia
    3.) Oracle App. 9i AS
Should I install OID first with a new repository and ORACLE_HOME???? Then install 8i, then 9i AS ??? Like the order listed above 1)...2)...3) ?
I currently have a fresh install of win2K and just want to take the easiest route to get things up and running properly. I am installing everything on a single server for now(prototype development).
Thanks ahead of time for your patience and problem resolution.
    Eric Robitaille

    Hi Eric:
The order in which you want to install these products is fine. Actually it is ideal especially if your going to install all of these products in the same Oracle Home. When you install OID make sure you set your NLS_LANG environment setting to AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8 prior to installation. When you install OID it will install an 8i database at the same time. All of the other products you mentioned need to have an 8i database as well and you can use the same database created for OID.
You will probably need to increase your USER tablespace by about 200MB to make room for all of the products your trying to install. One question I have for you is do you really need intermedia context? I thought that was only nessesary if you are installing iFS. If you do a Standard install of 9iAS you dont need iFS or Intermedia. Just a suggestion.
    Thanks,
    Jay

  • OID Installation Questions pertaining to integration with EBS 11.5.10.2

Our Environment is E-Business Suite 11.5.10.2 and we want to investigate/view OID/SSO in action. Ultimately, we'll attempt to use Microsoft Active Directory as the source (of truth). I had performed OID/SSO integration with EBS about 3 years ago and remember the "overall" scheme, but Oracle's documentation/downloads page has left me thoroughly confused, hence, I am asking those that have been through the process .... THANKS IN ADVANCE
    (1) Do I need to install the base AS 10g Infrastructure and Metadata Repository via 10.1.2.0.2 installation or can I go directly to installing OID 10.1.4.0.1 ??
Here is what I believe the steps to be, PLEASE, correct me if I am wrong ...
    (1) Install 10.1.2.0.2 Application Server Infrastructure by selecting "Infrastructure and Metadata Repository"
    (2) Install 10.1.4.0.1 and select to upgrade an existing 10.1.2.0.2 installation. Once 10.1.4.0.1 has upgraded everything, including the database to 10.1.0.5, I assume that I can simply remove 10.1.2.0.2 through the Oracle Installer. Is this correct ??
    (3) Once upgrade to 10.1.4.0.1, I believe that I need to download a Metadata Upgrade Assistant patch, (mrua), and run mrua,sh to upgrade MR to 10.1.4.0.1 which will be apparent by querying app_registry view.
    (4) Upgrade 10.1.4.0.1 to 10.1.4.3
The documentation is confusing and hard to find for me. Do these steps seem to accomplish the tasks or am I missing something ??
    THANKS IN ADVANCE

I didn't do the install myself but we went straight to installing 10.1.4 Identity Manangement, although I believe that Infrastructure components which underly it are essentially the same as 10.1.2. As far as I know you can't use 10.1.3 because it lacks those infrastucture components.

  • OVD/OID installation/staticports.ini /Please help!

    Dear All,
I am trying to install Weblogic admin server on port 7003 and OID on 7004.
How to create staticport.ini file for these ports?
I would apprecaite it if you provide staticport.ini example for OVD/OID/Weblogic installation.
I tried to use this one below. It did not work
    Oracle Directory Services Manager 7004
    Oracle Directory Integration Platform 7004
Oracle WebLogic Server Listen Port for Administration Server 7003
    Kind Regards
    Maria

    quick check is the following:
    1. is the listener up
    2. is the database up
    3. can you ping the database server from the AS server
    4. is the database accepting connections - try logging in from a remote client via sql*plus
    5. do you have the correct user credentials

  • OID Installation Failing

    DB:11.2.0.2
    OS: Red HaT Linux 5
    IDM:idm_11.1.1.2.0
I am trying to install OID on a 2 node RAC Cluster envirnoment and it is failing at step 5 . The error i am getting is
INST-07277 : Specified Domain name is either not valid or the corresponding location is not empty.

Are you seeing this from RCU? You need to create a brand new database, and run RCU to create tablespaces and schemas..
During the OID install you are going to supply the DB information to the installer.. Check the connections manually before starting OID install...
Tell me more details about it.

  • OID Installation issue

    Hi Experts,
I am trying to installl OID 11.1.1.5.0 on Windows Server 2008 R2 box. The installation is failing at the last step where it is trying to start the Oracle Internet directory instance. No logs are generated.
    Please help. Its urgent.
    Thanks.
    Anuj

Most likely, your network is not configured correctly. Make sure that your hostname and domainname matches the first entry in your hosts file.
If its urgent, log a support call.

  • OID installation into 10.2 Database

    Hello, everybody.
    1. Can I install OID into existing 10.2 Database on Linux x86_64 (SLES 10 SP1)
    2. ... and if this 10.2 Database used by Oracle EM Grid Control 10.2.0.4?
    3. How can I move my existing "standart" installation (OID = AS + 10.1.0.5 Database for AS Repository) into other server/Database?
    Thanks

    1) Yes - you can install the OID into a 10.2 database.
    2) This is possible as well, as the OID has its own schemas. BTW - I'm working with such an installation right now.
    3) Yes, but you will need to create a metadata repository in this new database. Just moving the OID could work, although I never tried that.

  • OID Installation Fails

During a one box install on a Windows 2000 server the OID service fails to start during installation. The installation will work if the network connection is disabled. The service fails to start on reboot if the network connection is enabled, but will start if disabled. Note that the Oracle_Home environment string doesn't exist at that point in the installation where OID fails to start. The isadb service shows as started but I can't connect to it using SQL*Plus. I can connect to the sid created during the install (after copying the alias to the TNSnames.ora file). Any Ideas?

when I restart the server with the network connection enabled I get the message ORA-27101 Shared Memory realm does not exist. If I use the below incantation to start both the iasdb and the ocs databases, I can connect to them with sql*plus and scott/tiger.
    set ORACLE_SID=<database_sid>
    sqlplus /nolog
    conn / as sysdba
    startup
If I disable the network connection every thing starts up fine but of course nothing works correctly as it can't resolve dns querys. Has anyone any ideas as to what the problem is?
