OiD W2000 installation

Hello
Ive installed OiD from CD Oi8 v 8.1.6 for W2000. Im able to connect to the OiD with Oracle Directory Manager.
3 services are running :
-OracleDirectoryService Started
-OracleOraHome81TNSListener Started
-OracleServiceOIDDB1 Started
BUT. After restarting my server is this situation:
-OracleDirectoryService
-OracleOraHome81TNSListener Started
-OracleServiceOIDDB1 Starting
Im not able to start OracleServiceOIDDB1 service, it is still STARTING !!!
My configuration:
W2000 SP1 with no Oracle products
Ive used this installation plan:
- Control Panel, System, , NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8
- Install from CD Oracle Internet Directory, Perform Typical Configuration (new database OIDDB1 is created)
- All services are running
After installation OiD Im able to stop and start oidmon (C:> oidmon stop), (C:> oidmon connect=oiddb1 start), but Im not able to start and stop oidctl.
If I run DOS> oidctl connect=oiddb1 stop
I get only help, how to use oidctl.
Where could be a problem ?

It appears that you have followed the installation steps properly. I have heard of several others with the same problem with OID on Windows2000. I would reccomend that you go to our Support site and start a request for help. The URL is http://www.oracle.com/support/
It has been reported that OID runs very well on the "Domain Controller" version of Windows2000. You might try installing it on this version.
Until we are able to figure out what is wrong with the Windows2000 port of OID 2.1.1 I would reccomend that you try installing it on a more robust Operating System such as Solaris 7, or HP-UX.

OID connector installation

Is there a connector server install required?
I have unzipped the OID connector into the OIM- ConnectorDefaultDirectory and from Admin Console load the connector. I have referred various blogs on this and they say above steps should be sufficient.
However the Connector guide refers to a install of connector server? Is this optional?

If they are on separate hosts and as you are using OID connector - yes, you have to use connector server to connect remotely.
Configuring SSL is not mandatory - However, if you want to configure connector for SSL, refer: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E22999_01/doc.111/e28603/deploy.htm#BGBHHEAB
User accounts that are required for OID connector installation, refer: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E22999_01/doc.111/e28603/deploy.htm#BGBDBGIE
P.S: Just as a suggestion, you can enable LDAP sync (OOTB feature) in OIM, which does not need any connector server to be installed if installed on different host also. But, you may need to install OVD, where there will be two adapters configured that communicates with OIM and OID.

OID :: DIP Installation is failing

We are trying to install DIP and ODSM on a solaris 11 box and trying to point the installation to a freshly installed OID (11.1.1.6) running on separate solaris 11 box. Our OID service is up and running and we can connect it successfully from another server. We even tried to install these components on the OID server and encountered the same issue. Please let me know in any idea. Thanks

Hi,
Configure OID without DIP,just uncheck the checkbox of DIP.After configuring OID go to WLS_HOME/bin/config.sh and extend the domain in which you have configured OID. On the select component window select Oracle Directory integration platfore[oracle_IDM] and extend the domain. It will do it for you.

Fusion middleware OID cluster installation with weblogic domain

Hi,
I am trying to install/configure fusion middleware OID 11.1.1.2 cluster with two nodes.
Installed Databse, Weblogic, Ran RCU for schema creation.
I installed OID by selecting Create new Domain
selected clustered check box while installtion.
Selected OID and DIP for installation and configuration.
Create domain was sucessfull.
Deploy oracle directory server was Sucessfull.
Got Error when deploying Directory Integration platform.
Error: An internal operation has failed error in configuring DIP-00004 error in connecting to oracle internet directory server.
I thing apply patch will solve this issue.
I am able to login to weblogic
Admin Server, Node manager and manager server are in running state.
I am able launch enterprise manager.
OID1 is up.
I am not able to launch /odsm. any idea?? (tried with different browsers its the same)
I am applying patch now..hope solves the issue.
So now OID is deployed on one manager server and i have to add one more server in this cluster.
I am thinking to do basic weblogic installation on other cluster server then copy the domain from machine1 to machine2.
Not sure how to setup the other managed server with machine 2 details??
Please correct me if i followed any wrong step.
I need steps for Clustering.
Any idea please help??

OID Connector Installation error

Hi All,
I am trying to intergrate OIM 11.1.1.5.0 with OID Connector 9.0.4 to provision the Users. While Installation i am getting the error as " DOBJ.XML_IMPORT_ERROR DUPLICATE OUG " in the Connector Installation page and Import of Connector XML Files (Using Deployment Manager) got failed.
Please suggest me, to resolve this issue.

I tried your Query (select OBJ_KEY from AMWAY_OIM.OBJ where OBJ_NAME='Give OID Resource Name') but it gave me an error as Table or view doesn't exist.
I tried query as select OBJ_KEY from DEV_OIM.OBJ where OBJ_NAME='OID User'. Here OID user is Resource Name .
Note: I have taken this Resource Name from OIM Console-> Manage Resource.
The Query gives result as OBJ_KEY=> 41 .
Need help on the below three Questions::
     1.Is this OBJ_KEY wants to delete from DB?
     2. To get the OID rows we used Query as select * from DEV_OIM.OUG; but to identify the OID rows particularly why we didn't use DEV_OIM.OUG table name in the Query OBJ_KEY from DEV_OIM.OBJ where OBJ_NAME='OID User' ?
I have this doubt because I don't see OBJ_KEY=> 41 when I ran this Query select * from DEV_OIM.OUG;
     3.Is the OID Resource Name is correct, which I have taken from OIM console?
Please suggest me and clear the doubts.

URGENT : Error while OID 11g Installation

I'm currently installing OID 11g on UNIX box using MobaXterm (alike Putty) to connect to Unix box through a windows machine.
While installing OID, I'm facing a problem related to Ports.
If I proceed with the Auto Configuration, I get the following error, though the next screen shows the installation was successful :

Due to the above mentioned error, the instance for OID is NOT getting created, though the Home Directory and the Response Files are getting created successfully.
Also, after the response files are created, the installer asks to run the oracleroot.sh, which again seems to be working fine.
But just after running the .sh file, the next screen which shows up while the installation isn't the desired one, as all the components which are supposed to be installed, should be shown in a hierarchy, which in my case are not shown up.
If at all I proceed with the manual configuration, I get the error on the GUI itself which states :
Ports are not free or invalid (some 5 port numbers are mentioned in front of the error).
Kindly help me out on the above mentioned problem ASAP, as it is very URGENT.

Thanks for your reply. I was able to fix the issue by adding a JAR into the library folder.
Now, I'm getting a new exception.

Error Message during OID re-installation

I had installed OID with the wrong options and during cleanup, I accidentally deleted the OID folder without running the deinstallation procedure. I cleaned up the OID entry from oraInventory/inventory.xml and /var/opt/oracle/oratab.
Now, when I install OID in an empty folder, it gives me an error message:
"Oracle Application Server Infrastructure 10.1.4.0.1 cannot be installed into a non-empty Oracle Home. Please choose a new or empty Oracle Home."
I then followed the procedure listed in:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28196_01/install.1014/b32088/ts.htm#BABEEICB
But this did not work. I am not able to install OID on the same machine now because of the error message.
Please advise.

I forgot to mention that the platform is Solaris 10. That is what surprises me. Also, I am using Hummingbird Exceed to do a GUI installation.

These are the steps I followed:
1. Instead of de-installation, I directly deleted the folder.
2. Cleaned up OID entries from oraInventory/ContentsXML/inventory.xml
3. Cleaned up OID entry from /var/opt/oracle/oratab file
4. For next install, I specified a different installation folder. I am still faced with the same error.
Please let me know if I missed some step.

AD and OID connector installation on Base version 11.1.1.5.0 failed.

Hi Experts,
I am trying to install AD and OID connectors on base oim 11.1.1.5.0
OID connector version: Release 9.0.4.12
AD connector version: Release 9.1.1.7
while installing these connectors in 3 steps
a. Configuration of connector libraries
b. Import of the connector XML files (by using the Deployment Manager)
c. Compilation of adapters
first step passed and it is failing at 2nd step and 3rd
Error:
DOBJ.XML_IMPORT_ERROR Missing root objectcom.thortech.xl.dataobj.tcUSR [DataObjectDef] (importable)
can anyone suggest me on this.

How to create staticport.ini file for these ports?

1. is the listener up
2. is the database up
3. can you ping the database server from the AS server
4. is the database accepting connections - try logging in from a remote client via sql*plus
5. do you have the correct user credentials

There are some suggestions with the global name in the connection descriptor....
TNS name WXP-56M33BS.hyd.amer.dell.com
maybe try IP / localhost or hostname....in the tnsnames

Test Portal upgrade from 10.1.2.0.2 to 10.1.4.2 and then Portal 11g

Is there any easy method to recreate production like envionment and test upgrade process.
I have read Staging of test envionment http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/core.1012/b13995/prodtest.htm#BHAHIHBH
from production and it involves OID,Portal installation and various other steps to copy data. Staging process even does not support Oracle Hot Backup restore :(.

Restore application server backup tarfile.
change hostfile to unix to create alias for this local server.
Even in the client machine ( change hosts file to point to this server)
Can we test upgrade in this manner ? I know oracle wont support ?

No, you can't update 10.1.2 like that. You have to install and use the 10.1.3 version to get those levels of spec support.
By upgraded I assume what they mean is that you can upgrade your environment by installing 10.1.3 and redeploying your applications to the new Oracle instance.

I am new to Oracle Integration products (Fusion Middlewares). I need to prepare some B2B components using ORACLE B2B. so can you please help me out in finding the following:
1. From where can we download ORACLE B2B server?(Confused from Oracle website)
2. What is the procedure for installing it. ? (Is it Stand alone or is there any prerequisties to install ? )
3. Any user manual with real time examples for Oracle B2B?

Hey Jagjit,
There is 2 types of installation
1. Normal Plain B2B Installation
2. OID based Installation
1. Normal B2B Install
a. For this type of install, you have to select “MetaData Repository” during 101202-infrastructure installation.
b.During B2B installation select only “OracleAS Metadata Repository” .
2. OID based installation.
For this you have to install your 101202 infrastructures based on OID . i.e.,. During installation you have to select identity management and complete the installation.
During b2b installation choose “Identity Management Access” and provide necessary info like OID Port , OID host name etc.

Re-using roles

Is it possible to use roles defined for a particular site in
another site without recreating them? We have a large organization
with multiple sites (to avoid confusion with workflow), and we
often use the same role settings when defining custom roles.
Is there a way to make these common roles "global" like the
pre-defined ones, or to export them from one site and import them
into another?

You can manager users using EUSM (executable) found on the oid/ovd installation. Global/local role has to be created on the database side. All EUS mapping can be done on the OID or OVD side using "eusm". There is a metalink note that gives lots of examples on this. Or you can also use enterprise manager grid control that lets you do the same.
As or OVD vs. OID, I am not aware of any major limitations. just operational limitations. Since OID is a ldap server by itself, you can do a lot of tracing/auditing yourself instead of relying on other LDAP admins (unless you manage other ldap servers also). We are currently implementing oid 11.1.1.2 for EUS and I know of my previous employer who is in the middle of implementing OVD 11g (with sun one directory).
