Oil paint error unknown gpu intel HD (r)
Hi gang, I having been investigating why I cannot get my oil paint filter to work. I get the unknown graphics processor error. I have an intel HD (R) gpu with up to date driver. Any help appreciated.

Oil Paint Filter "unknown graphics processor error"
When I try to use the Oil Paint filter in Photoshop, I get this error message:
"The filter you were using encountered an unknown graphics processor error that caused an unexpected exit. Check the manufacturer's website for the latest software."
I have updated both my system and Photoshop. When I'm at work on a newer machine the filter works great, but I've been working from home on a macbook from 2007 and it doesn't work. I can't afford to buy an ENTIRELY NEW laptop simply to use this filter.

When you go to Preferences > Performance and look at the GPU settings, what is the mode? Basic, Normal, or Advanced?
Perhaps you can try ratcheting down the settings,but I somehow sense your video card is not supported and your vram is below the 256MB minimum.

Hey i have Photoshop CS6 and i updated my graphics driver and oil paint still isn't working, can someone please help me?

I read other discussions on the forum and still it wouldn't let me use Oil paint.
It still gives me an error saying "The filter you were using encountered an unknown graphics processor error that caused an unexpected exit. Check the manufacturer's website for the latest software."Your video driver caused an application crash. Photoshop noticed the crash caused by your video driver, and disabled the GPU functions because of that bug in the video driver.
You need to update your video card driver from the GPU maker's website, or contact the GPU maker to let them know about the bug in their driver software.
And with that GPU, I wouldn't expect much functionality - it's kind of old and at the low end for GPUs. -
Just got CS 6 (not extended) When I click Oil Paint Filter I get the following msg.

Is it my graphics card. If so, how do I check to see what I have? I have an HP about three years old.You need to upgrade your video driver from the web site of the manufacturer of your video card, not from HP, not from Microsoft, and not through Windows update.
Windows should tell you exactly what your video card is when you look at the computer properties. I'm a Mac user, so I can't give you more precise instructions. -

Oil Paint Filter not working - CS6 - Can you help resolve this?
Can you help? The CS6 oil paint filter is not working. The error is: "The filter you were using encountered an unknown graphics processor error that caused an unexpected exit. Check the manufacturer's website for the latest software."
I have the latest graphics driver software. I have the latest update for CS6. I have followed various community support recommendations to no avail.
In the Advanced Graphics Processor settings (preference, performance) only "Basic" is available and I can't select (grayed out) "Use Graphics Processor to Accelerate computation" and can't select "use OpenCL".
My System: Windows 7 (64 bit), HP Pavilion dv6-3250us Notebook with Intel(R) High-Definition Graphics Driver.

Your GPU doesn't support many of the features needed by the Oil Paint filter, and barely supports any of the GPU features in Photoshop (notice that it does not support OpenCL, or Normal or Advance mode for GPU drawing). -
Oil Paint Filter not working in Photoshop CS6?
Ok, so I have had PS CS6 for a couple of months with no problems. I downloaded the oil paint filter, but to use it i needed to update my GPU drivers, so I did and it started working. Last week, i noticed that when i attempt to use the filter, it says that need to have the box in the preferences section saying 'enable graphics processor' checked. before it was previously checked. Now when i go to it, it is greyed out because of an 'error' in my display drivers. I reinstalled my display drivers but it did not solve the problem. For some reason it is still greyed out. I know that my GPU meets the requirements for using oil paint, it was working fine before so why has it decided to stop working now?

Oil Paint In Photoshop Casuses Crash
Just about 80% of the time when I use Oil Paint in Photoshop CC it just goes black and restarts my system and looses my work. This only happens when using the Oil Paint Filter in Photoshop CC. Does anyone have a clue as to what might cause this. Asus P8Z77-V motherboard, Intel CPU i2700k, 32 GB ddr3, NVidia GForce GTX660 Ti. 1SSD and 6 hdd's. Run lots of other photo editing software and no problems with them. Help please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TIAUpdate your graphics driver and configure it suitably. The oil paint filter uses GPU acceleration, so this is crucial.

Got an error when applying oil paint filter
I'm using Photoshop CS6 on a PC. When I tried to apply the oil pain filter, I got an error message saying "The filter you were using encountered an unknown graphics processor error that caused an unexpected exit. Check the manufacturer's website for the latest software." Could you let me know on how to fix this?

Are you still experiencing this problem? We removed the Oil Paint mission, so you should not be seeing it. Can you tell me which version of Level Up you have? You can check the version in the Extension Manager.

Oil Paint Filter Crash (potential data loss)
Trying to apply the oil paint filter to a 45" x 30", 300dpi, 16-bit image I an error dialog that says: "The filter you were using encountered an unknown graphics processor error that caused an unexpected exit. Check the manufacturer's website for the latest software."
The menus all become gray and the software freezes so I can't quit, but Force Quit does not show "not responding".Hi Chris -
The only console log I get when this happens is:

which I assume is because of the beep that goes with the error message. Photoshop gets unresponsive but does not get a console error or become unresponsive from the point of view of Force Quit. I am attaching a video and a system info log.

Installed TWAIN devices: NONEI am getting the same error, also when starting CS6 I receive a message that my graphic device driver is not officially supported. I have updated the drivers and have never had any issues with any other programs. It appears to be a bug in the program.

What video card do you have on your system? Does it have 256MB VRAM or more? Do you get any other GPU feature to work.
Try going to the manufacturer's website for the video card in your machine (I'm assuming this is on Windows) and getting the latest available driver.
