OIM 10g Documenation Reading Flow

Hi,
I m trying to understand each and every component works in OIM like for provsioning.I got confused with OIM Documenation and among documents with which I can start reading.
Administrative and User Console Customization Guide
Administrative and User Console Guide
API Usage Guide
Audit Report Developer's Guide
Best Practices Guide
Concepts
Connector Concepts
Design Console Guide
Installation and Configuration Guide for BEA WebLogic Server
Reference
Release Notes
Tools Reference
Can any one suggest me the flow.So that I can clearly understand the OIM structure of provisioning

Hello,
But if you see the trace, it is coming from the OOTB library. Isn't it ? It doesn't indicate if there is any issue in any custom beans.
java.io.NotSerializableException: com.thortech.xl.webclient.workflowutil.ImageGenerator$FieldMoreover, i see this error in the log with case 2: ("configure" data flow). However, it is working and the the UI is showing me the data flow with this error in the log.
My major concern is case 1: ("edit" workflow) which is not showing me anything on the UI ?
Ideally, it should trigger Nexaweb client to populate the workflows in the UI.
*1 interesting observation:*
If i go to "Design console" -> process definition -> "Render workflow",
then it opens the workflow in the default explorer and the url which is opened in the browser is same as the previous case. It is working here as expected. Does this means the problem is with Nexaweb client load in the UI in case 1. How to fix this ?
Please suggest.
Thanks,

  • Replicating the app functionality from OIM 10g to OIM 11gR2

    Hi,
    I have a resource object with an object form and a process form and approval, provisioning configured in OIM 10g design console. Provisioning is manual provisioning assigned to a particular group based on a task assignment adapter. For replicating the same in OIM 11gR2 i followed the following steps.
    1. Created a Resource object in Design console.
    2. Created a dummy IT Resource ( Since while creating app instance it is having IT Resource as Mandatory field. * Is there any way to skip this as i do not have any IT resource in my original app as it is going for manual provisioning?)*
    3. Created a process form in Design Console with the same fields as present in my 10g app process form.
    4. Now i need to Create an app instance and select the created resource object and IT resoource. Also i need to create a form associated with the app instance in which i will add the fields as present in the object form in my 10g app. ( Here i am not understanding how data will flow from object form to process form since there is no data flow mapping here)
    5. Other steps like creating the SOA composite with human tasks and deploying it and after that creating approval policies is pretty much clear.
    Please clarify whether the steps are correct and also the queries which i have posted in between. Thanks in advance.

    Thanks Gyanprakash. Wll disconnected resource trigger our custom approval process if we select the resource name properly in scope in operational level approval policy. Have you tried a disconnected resource with your custom approval process. Because i read the following lines in admin guide
    Oracle Identity Manager supports provisioning of disconnected resources by using the SOA worklist for manual provisioning of disconnected resources. After the role-based provisioning decision or SOA request approval is complete and the corresponding application instance is determined to be a disconnected application instance, a new SOA workflow is started. This new SOA workflow is assigned to the manual provisioning administrator.
    So i thought disconnected app instance will have its own approval process configured during the creation and it will route accordingly. So just wanted to clarify how to make disconnected app instance to trigger our approval. will approval policay take care of it as i am going to select the name of the disconnected app in the scope field.

  • OIM 10g to 11g upgrade error

    Hi experts,
    While doing upgrade from OIM 10g to OIM 11g, I am not able to upgrade OIM Middletier.
    Steps performed till now
    1. Run OSI Upgrade Utility in OIM 10g.
    2. Export OIM 10g DB Schema from Oracle database version 10.2.0.2.
    3. Run prepare_xl_db.sh and import the OIM 10g Schema to Oracle Database 11.2
    4. Run RCU to create schemas for MDS and SOA in Oracle database 11.2
    5. Install WLS 10.3.5, SOA 11.1.1.5 and IAM 11.1.1.5
    6. Upgrade OIM Schema using Upgrade Assistant Utility
    7. Create WLS Domain for OIM and SOA
    8. Configure OIM(copied .xldatabasekey to config/fmwconfig folder)
    9. Upgrade OIM Middle Tier using Upgrade Assistant Utility
    Upgrade Assistant is failing at step 9 when it is trying to initilize scheduler properties.
    In logs, it says invalid username and password but I am sure I entered correct password for all schemas.

  • OIM 10g: Requests Track Doesn't show any requests status

    Hello,
    OIM 10g BP15:
    I've created a group "oim-admin-group" ("admuser" is the member of this group).
    I've assigned quite a few "Menu Items" access required for "oim-admin-group" group including:
    * Track Requests menu item
    Also, assigned "permissions" on all objects to this group.
    However, when "admuser" logs in and perform a search on Requests > Track > Search:
    he don't see any results but the message:
    "Your search did not return any results. Try again. "
    I added "oim-admin-group" with "read" permissions to
    * Organization > Xellerate User > Administrative Group >
    * Organization > ABC (User's org) > Administrative Group >
    Also, in (with "read" permissions)
    * Resource > "Request" > Resource Administrators
    * Resource > "Xellerate users" > Resource Administrators
    * Resource > "Xellerate Organizations" > Resource Administrators
    However, "admuser" still not able to track requests and sees same response.
    Any suggestions ?
    Thanks,

    Looks like the "Administrative queues" implementation could have been planned around design time. Then the requests could be assigned and managed by different roles(groups) member with different access levels in OIM.
    However, in my current setup - all workflows follows this rule 1) Route the request for manager approval 2) After successful manager approval, route it for application group approval (2nd step of approval). Implementation of "Administrative queues" in this setup looks difficult to me.
    Any comment?
    Thanks,

  • TcLookupOperationsIntf method usage in OIM 10g JSP

    We are trying to use the tcLookupOperationsIntf in OIM-10g to populate few lookup fields on manual selection.
    But while trying to use getLookupValues, getLookupValuesForColumn we couldn't achieve the same.
    Both the above quoted methods require different parameters; tried different combinations but none seem to work or most probably headed in a wrong direction.
    Below is a code snippet of same attempt, please advice
    <tctags:lookupfield
                             selectionColumn="Lookup Definition.Lookup Code Information.Code Key"
    className="Thor.API.Operations.tcLookupOperationsIntf"
    methodName="getLookupValues"
    columnNames="Lookup Definition.Lookup Code Information.Code Key,Lookup Definition.Lookup Code Information.Decode"
    fixedFilter="Lookup Definition.Lookup Code Information.Code Key:<Code Key Value>"
    lookupAPI="-2"
                             </tctags:lookupfield>
    the same works fine for tcOrganizationOperationsIntf/tcUserOperationsIntf.
    Below is the error captured in logs, on clicking the lookup defined by the above tctags

    Using OOTB API it will not be possible to achieve.
    You need to customize your JSP.
    You can use Javascript to achieve this. Approach can be as follow-
    1. Get values of both lookups at the time of page load. (It will avoid page refresh and other complexity of page reload to fetch 2nd lookup)
    2. Store both in Java Script variables.
    3. When one of the lookup field value changes, call a JavaScript function which will change value of second field.
    You may need to have plain HTML field if OOTB field is not working.

    Detail:

    Design console uses RMI.
    Can you check if this port (RMI) has changed in your application server for any reason?
    you can reinstall the design console, as it wont take more than 10 minutes to do it. If in a fresh installation you have the same behaviour, I'd bid that you have a wrong RMI port.

  • OIM 10g and ORM

    Hi.
    I need an End-user Interface to create membership rules and access policies in OIM 10g.
    Can I Achieve this by integrating ORM and OIM?
    Or is it better make a custom OIM interface to do this?
    Thank You.

    To any one that cares, and a warning to all who try to install OID, LDAP or the Identity Management for web logic, or the OAS. I may not be the best or brightest oracle person. Now having said that I do have several years experience as a developer. I have tried to install various version of the Weblogic with oracle 11g, and the Identity management. As well as the OAS, OID, on a 10g database. This is on a Windows XP pro OS. After about 50 attempts... I am being conservative about my guess, I give up. To add insult in injury our DBA that has managed to get a version of OID and OAS on a 10g Database, then upgrade to an 11g database, can NOT get the same results on another like system. This is not on a desktop...His work in on Sun 890 boxes using Solaris. So as a warning to every one out there. If you have not gotten it to work. You probably will not... Unless you pay a high priced Oracle Consultant. I never thought I would say this, but I think we would be better of going to a Novel Solution, or a Microsoft AD solution. However that would mean we would probably need to port most of our applications over to that environment. After fighting this issue now, I am ready to do just that. If Oracle had not bought Sun I would look to see what they offer, but now I am just Mad as #### . So if you are just starting an Oracle project, and trying to use weblogic and the LDAP... Run to Microsoft.
    They might have something that works......

  • OIM 10G hide resources from standard request wizard

    We have created 65 resources in OIM 10G which must be requested by a custom request page in OIM. This is working fine, now we neet to hide those resources from the standard resourcer self-request page in OIM.
    How can we do that ?
    is there some kind of fixed filter we can use? (we added a new OBJ field named OBJ_UDF_CATEGORY and this field could be used as a filter)
    Thank you.

  • OIM 10g provision takes long and gives DOBJ UPDATE FAILED

    Hi.
    We Recently added a resource but it´s provisioning process takes about 1 minute to complete.
    When a user makes a request for lets say 10 users, when the request is approved, the web page tries to wait until all the 10 user provisioning process is finished but that means 10 minutes waiting and OIM gives DOBJ.UPDATE_FAILED. I assume this is a timeout.
    How can I configure OIM (10G) to do all the provisioning process in background so there will not be needed to wait a lot of time watching a stall page when the (last approval step) approve button is pressed ?
    Thanks.

    It´s a Webservice which makes a LOT of transactions and takes a lot doing them, we cannot change its behavior because it was built by someone else.
    Offline Provisioning Explains a lot!
    Even fixes a Rollback problem we were having caused by conectivity problems with some target Systems.
    Thank YOU!

    =============================
    Anyone encountered this before in the clustered setup ?
    Thanks,

    Hello,
    But if you see the trace, it is coming from the OOTB library.
    Thanks,

  • OIM 10G - passwords

    In OIM 10G, are there any characters that are not allowed to be in a users password?
    Thanks,

    We use the API for our users to set passwords in OIM (9.1.0.2 BP 15). I think that we had to write in our password web page to disallow characters like ', "", &, <, >, ==. This is at least partially controlled by the <AppFirewall> section in your xlconfig.xml file. I think if you set it to level 0, it will not restrict any characters.

    Hello. Can someone point me to any documentation (Oracle or other) on self-registration in OIM 10g. Like doc on how to install it and customize it. Also a doc on how to set up self-registration on a separate server and talk to OIM server using SPML.

    Refer doc below:

  • Min Max Planning not reading Flow Schedules as Demand

    We use min max planning to order all recurring purchases and flow schedules for production planning.
    Min max planning report does NOT see flow schedules as a source of demand. Is this correct or are we missing a setup somewhere?
    If min max planning cannot read flow schedules, is there a standard report to identify component shortages where items are between min max level but not enough on hand to fulfill the open flow schedule?
