OIM 11gR1 - Request Stuck in "Obtaining Operation Approval"

Hi Guru,
we are having a problem with oim11gr1, the Request from the user are stuck on "Operation Obtaining Approval" status even though the approval workflow process has complete.
This issue also happened with Request that only use Auto Approval process provided by OIM11gR1, doesn't use custom approval with SOA-BPEL.
Is this a bug in OIM 11gR1? How do we fix this?
Need help guys.
Thank you,
Heri

Hi Bikash,
We use OIM 11g version 11.1.1.5.0, we haven't apply any patches yet. Do you have recommendation what patch(s) that we should apply?
Not all request with that spesific type, but only for some request (intermittent). Some request that use approval workflow from soa-bpel also sometimes stuck on "Obtaining Operation Approval" or "Request Complete" but doesn't trigger provisioning process.
Please help.
Best Regards,
Heri

  • Approving OIM/SOA requests using OIM 11g APIs

    I'm creating a SOA request using createRequest method in RequestService OIM API. I would like to approve/reject the work items using the API as well but I don't see any methods to approve/reject the tasks. Is this something I would have to use SOA's webservices to do it?
    Thanks

    You need to use BPEL worklist API for the same.

  • CUP Request Stuck in Approver's Queue (approval show in logs)

    We are seeing an odd error in our CUP system (5.3 SP13). A request will come to a user, they will approve it, and then the request will never actually leave their queue.
    I can look at the request's Audit Information and see they have approved. It has clearly been registered in the logs. However, the request just will not move on to the next state. If I go to the Administration section, and click on Forward Request, it shows that particular approver's approval as still being outstanding.
    It appears to CUP as if the approver has taken no action whatsoever, but the audit log says they clearly have. I eventually have to wait for all other approvals to be collected, and then approve the ticket as an Admin to finally provision the request. It will just sit in their queue forever if I do not. I have yet to establish any kind of pattern or common denominator between the requests, but I have at least 7 examples of it happening so far. We have not made any changes to the workflows. The last major change was the upgrade from SP7 to SP13 last month (this started happening shortly after that).

    It may very well have to do with the upgrade to the SP13 , I would open a message with SAP support to check if this is a known issue. There is a thread somehwere here which discussed all the bugs of SP13, If you search for SP13 on thr forum you might find it.

  • References for developing Reconciliation Rules for OIM 11GR1

    Good Day!
    Hi Folks!
    I would like to ask if you can share some references or any documents which tackles on the development or creation of reconciliation rules for OIM 11GR1. Currently, we are trying to pull users from a SAP system and provision them to MS AD. Currently, we want to develop reconciliation rules such that we can avoid doing manual ad-hoc link.
    Aside from the documentation guide, are there any other references there available in helping us to develop recon rules from a simple definition and from there maybe we can pick it up to define a complex one?
    All answers are appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

  • [OIM] Trigger Request tasks

    Hello People,
    I see that when I make a request in OIM, the request goes into "Request Received" state for a while and after some time the approval tasks appears. Is there a schedule task that triggers the request's tasks, so can I trigger it manually? A very few of them remains in the "Request Received" state, so I would like to bring them to life again.
    Thanks!

    Their is one for sure which resubmits requests that are in a Request Initialized state but nothing for Event Received. Tough Luck.

  • OIM 11gR1: Disabled Resource changes to Provisioned on modification

    Version: OIM 11gR1 BP7
    Target System: Active Directory using AD Connector 11.1.1.5.0
    In my environment, I have a user with a disabled Active Directory resource. Whenever I make changes to the user's AD resource, the status of that resource is changed to "Provisioned" even though the resource is still disabled on the target system. I know that when a resource is disabled, you cannot edit the form. I have made the modifications through the APIs or password reset button on the OIM interface (I have setup "Change Password" process task so that password is pushed out to the user's AD resources).
    I have also setup a custom icf connector and it has the same behavior as above.
    I would like to know if anyone has ran into this issue before or any insights in debugging this issue.

    Check if the task that is being triggered after user resource is disabled has mapping "C -- Provisioned". That could possibly be the reason!

  • Change/Edit Request Attributes in CUP at Approval Stage

    Hi All,
    We have SAP GRC AE/CUP 5.3 SP07 installed in our environment. In our work flow of the request, there is a requirement that some of the request attributes need to be changed by the role owner/ approver at the approval stage of the request. The request contains both SAP standard as well as some custom attributes. I only see an option to edit the validity date or the roles/profiles of the request at the approval stage. Is this option configurable? If not, do we have any work around to achieve the requirement?
    Thanks, Anil

    Hi Harleen and Alpesh,
    We are in GRC 5.3 SP8 and we would like to allow approvers in each stages to change the validity date (e.g. Valide to date) in a role request.   Here is the situation:
    I have a workflow path which has two approval stages.   Both stages were configured to allow "Change Request Content".    What I noticed is the approver in the first approval stage can change the validity date and then approve the request.    But when the request is on the 2nd approval stage, the approver can no longer modify the validity date.
    Is this the same scenario which Harleen said that "You cannot edit the information of a request once it enters the approval stages"?   If this is the same scenario, do you know whether a fix is considered by  or available from SAP?
    There may be situations where we don't want the 2nd approver to overwirte what 1st approver has approved.   However, in some situations we may want to keep that flexibility to let the later approver to have the last say.
    Thanks for your input.

  • ORA-01013: User requested cancel of current operation (#1013)

    Hi Guys,
    I have an application and in particular an append query that inserts rows into a linked table. I keep on getting this error, (although the code works fine in enterprise manager, and code-imports ok).
    I did not cancel the query but it seems to think it has. The insert/append query starts and prompts me for the username and password, this works fine, it just stops half way or beggining etc...
    This is the error:
    ORA-01013: User requested cancel of current operation (#1013)
    And this is the error on Help file:
    ODBC – call failed. (Error 3146)
    Using an ODBC connection, you tried to perform an operation on data in an ODBC data source. This error may occur when the ODBC data source is on a network drive and you are not connected to the network. Make sure the network is available, and then try the operation again.
    Cheers
    Champinco

    Does "linked table" imply that you're using Access as a front-end for Oracle? I know that Access sets a query timeout value when it works with ODBC connections and this error generally occurs when you have a query that exceeds that timeout. I don't know whether Access lets you adjust that timeout, but assuming you're using the Oracle ODBC driver, you should be able to disable query timeout in the DSN configuration.

    Hi,
    I have been working an issue involving an application that is receiving "Message: ORA-01013: user requested cancel of current operation" errors. These errors are seen in the Application servers which are 6, w2k3 Standard sp2.
    My problem is the users are not the ones requesting the cancel. I have worked with my application support dept and they have informed me the timeout settign is 2 seconds. As you can see in my list below these transactions are taking longer then 2 seconds. A good transaction should take less then 3ms.

    We can't up the timeout setting in the application, We've already looked into it and theres to much red tape for us to cut in order to implement that setting.
    Recently our DB's were upgraded from Oracle 11.2.0.2 to Oracle 11.2.0.3. The very next day is when we started receiving these alerts.
    Any thoughts?

    What's it doing during these bad transactions? Is there a difference between what those are doing and what the fast ones are doing?
    Off the top of my head with so little information, the only thing I can come up with is that a lock is being held which is delaying some of the transactions from completing until after the timeout hits.

    Since the Exception message did not contain error code that Exchange server usually returns like (401) Unauthorized or (403) Forbidden, I am unable to pinpoint any reason for this to occur, since the functionality worked perfectly several times before
    this exception occurred as I can check in my logs. Also my diagnostic class which runs on the occurrences of any exception immediately tried to ping exchange server and re-initialize ExchangeService object. When I checked diagnostics logs after this exception
    time for the result of diagnostics, then it was able to ping the exchange server and the ExchageServer object also initialized successfully. So I am out of any reason now.
    The exception occurred on the last line of the following code:
    ItemView itemView = new ItemView(100, 0);
    FindItemsResults<Item> itemResults = null;
    PropertySet psPropSet = new PropertySet(BasePropertySet.IdOnly);
    itemView.PropertySet = psPropSet;

    itemResults = service.FindItems(WellKnownFolderName.Inbox, itemView);
    if (itemResults.Items.Count != 0)
    service.LoadPropertiesForItems(itemResults.Items, itItemPropSet);
    Any guesses why this could have happened? Or just some random network congestion? Am I forgetting to log some more information. Should I also log Exception.Data or something else?

    The timeout is occurring on the client so it not a particular error that's being returned by the server.
    The default timeout with the EWS Managed API is 90 seconds and is set on the ExchangeService Object. You can set this to a higher value eg to set it to 5 minutes
    server.timeout = 300000;
    Why it fails ? if its overnight then Backups can be the cause eg if they are snapshotting the server or some other backup mechanism could mean the server is very busy for a time. Or any other number of specific environmental factors. This is really
    a job for your Network admin to determine with server and network monitoring. I would suggest you check the EWS.Log on the Exchange server to see what happened at that time.
    What you should do at a code level is handle the exception, I would suggest wait for 60 seconds after the exception (this will cater for most throttling issues) and then try the same request again. If it fails again after a pause then
    you generally have a larger problem.
    Cheers
    Glen
