OIM installation on RAC DB and Weblogic clusters
I understand its a very broad question but tell me the links/resource/metalink documents references for installing OIM 9.1.0.1 on Weblogic clusters and Oracle RAC DB clusters ? (either or both)
Is OIM 9.1.0.1 compatible with Oracle RAC DB 10gR2 ? I have checked the configuration matrix but still not sure on it. Can anybody confirm this ?
I have gone through the basic installation guide for the same but I still find loopholes in it. If anybody has made any document for his/her purpose, please let me know, very appreciative!
It does not give information about the schema design needed for OIM on Oracle RAC DB like -
1.) During installation of OIM, we need to specify the "User Name" and "Password" of the database account that is created for Oracle Identity Manager.
So is that user needed to be created with all the necessary privileges in RAC DB before starting this installation ?
Thanks in advance,
- oidm.

Hey there,
I have checked the certification matrix but still just wanted to specifically know about compatibility of OIM 9.1.0.1 with Oracle RAC DB 10.2.0.2 ? Do they go hand in hand ?
Thanks,
- oidm.

Issue with Distributed Queue and WebLogic Clustering
Hi, When a message is received by distributed queue, MDB is processing the message on two managed servers. There seems to be issue with clustering and the physical queues present on both the managed servers are receving the message.
Our environment configuration details are as below:
One Web logic Cluster with 2 nodes (2 managed web logic servers).
One MDB deployed on the cluster listening to a queue with JNDI name “xng/jms/CODEventsQueue”
One Distributed queue with two members on the two nodes of the cluster, and with JNDI name “xng/jms/CODEventsQueue”
Two members of the distributed queue deployed on two JMS servers, which are separately deployed on each managed server .
And the distributed queue is deployed on the cluster.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
SampathIt is not clear to me how you concluded that "both the managed servers are receiving the message". Did you monitor the queues' statistics, or did you see both MDB instances received the same message?
It looks like that you using a weighted distributed queue. Do the two physical queues that compose the distributed queue have their own JNDI names? If so, what are they?
Have you tried to use a uniform distributed queue and see if the same behavior shows up?
You can find more about uniform distributed destination at
http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs103/jms/dds.html#wp1313713
BTW, which WebLogic Server releases are you using? Could you provide the distributed queue configuration?
Thanks,

Two NES server and weblogic clustering(urgent!)
Hi,
I'm using Weblogic 451 on HPUX11(jdk1.2.2.04) service pack 10
and using NES3.6.3 webserver with weblogic plugins(proxy server).
separate Two NES server(separate HP machine) forwarding 10 cluster weblogic
server in separate 2 HP Machine(each machine has 5 weblogic server process).
L4 switch loadbalancing 2 NES server...(L4 load balancing algorithm is not
support session..but round robin)..
Is this architecture correct ?
I think if L4 not support session and nes plugins will don't know how to
find correct webogic in cluster .
looking forward your reply..
thanks..

I don't see anything wrong with this architecture.

The NES WebLogic plugins will find the correct WebLogic server in the
cluster as this information is maintained in the cookie (OR in the URL if
cookies are disabled and you have URLRewriting enabled). Just make sure that
you have identical WebLogicCluster properties defined for both plugins.

OIM Installation over Weblogic application server - Login Exception
Hello there,
I installed OIM 9.1.0.1 on Weblogic 10.3 with DB 10.2.0.1. I am not able to login into the Administrator web console. And I am getting this following error as stated by the logs below with DEBUG level. I have used sun jdk provided in the weblogic installation itself and in Production mode - Non clustured, non SSO.

Does anybody have any clues ?
Thanks in advance.I faced similar issue sometime back with Weblogic.
Here's how I resolved that -
Using weblogic admin console verify that OIMAuthenticator is present in weblogic Authentication Providers under Security Realms - >myrealms->Providers
Also check that Control Flag in DefaultAuthenticator is set to "SUFFICIENT". In my case after the installation it was still set to "REQUIRED". -
Oracle RAC 9.2.0.7 and Weblogic BEA 8.1 sp5 known issues
Hi to all,
do you know if there are known bugs or issues about these versions of Oracle RAC and weblogic? I want to use these two versions but I want to know before if there are known issues, bugs or problems.
Thanks for everything.
F.From an application server perspective the fact that a database is a RAC cluster is irrelevant. The app server is connecting to a service or an instance.
What is an issue potentially is RAC with 9.2 as you are missing the very substantive improvements brought forth in 10.2. -
Problem in OIM Installation in Linux-64 bit environment
Hi,
Components used
1. Oracle Database11gR1
2. Weblogic Application server 10.3.0(installed in non clustered mode)
3. OIM 9.1.0.1
Also ensured the above three are compatible.
I'm facing problem at the end of OIM installation in RedHat Linux-64 bit environment.
The error details in setup-weblogic.log file is given below
===================================
setup-startscript:
setup:
[echo] Setting up weblogic for xellerate complete.
[ant] Exiting /oracle/oimserver/xellerate/setup/weblogic-setup.xml.
BUILD FAILED
/oracle/oimserver/xellerate/setup/setup.xml:443: The following error occurred while executing this line:
/oracle/oimserver/xellerate/setup/weblogic-setup.xml:196: Could not create task or type of type: wlst.
Ant could not find the task or a class this task relies upon.
This is common and has a number of causes; the usual
solutions are to read the manual pages then download and
install needed JAR files, or fix the build file:
- You have misspelt 'wlst'.
Fix: check your spelling.
- The task needs an external JAR file to execute
and this is not found at the right place in the classpath.
Fix: check the documentation for dependencies.
Fix: declare the task.
- The task is an Ant optional task and the JAR file and/or libraries
implementing the functionality were not found at the time you
yourself built your installation of Ant from the Ant sources.
Fix: Look in the ANT_HOME/lib for the 'ant-' JAR corresponding to the
task and make sure it contains more than merely a META-INF/MANIFEST.MF.
If all it contains is the manifest, then rebuild Ant with the needed
libraries present in ${ant.home}/lib/optional/ , or alternatively,
download a pre-built release version from apache.org
- The build file was written for a later version of Ant
Fix: upgrade to at least the latest release version of Ant
- The task is not an Ant core or optional task
and needs to be declared using <taskdef>.
- You are attempting to use a task defined using
<presetdef> or <macrodef> but have spelt wrong or not
defined it at the point of use
Remember that for JAR files to be visible to Ant tasks implemented
in ANT_HOME/lib, the files must be in the same directory or on the
classpath
Please neither file bug reports on this problem, nor email the
Ant mailing lists, until all of these causes have been explored,
as this is not an Ant bug.

Caused by: /oracle/oimserver/xellerate/setup/weblogic-setup.xml:196: Could not create task or type of type: wlst.
Further, I have identified that the ant was unable to launch a custom web logic task, wlst.
This custom task of web logic task is invoked by ant using the following script in <OIM_HOME>/xellerate/setup/weblogic-setup.xml.
<target name="setup" depends="setup-startscript">
<echo>Setting up weblogic for xellerate complete.</echo>
<wlst properties="${basedir}/Profiles/${profile}" arguments='SETUP_CONFIG ${profile}
${weblogic_login_password} ${datasource_user_password} '
fileName="${basedir}/setup/oimconfig.py"
executeScriptBeforeFile="false"
failOnError="true">
</wlst>
<antcall target="stopServer"/>
<antcall target="startServer"/>
</target>
Also I have ensured the all the environmental variables, JAVAOPTIONS, USER_MEM_ARGS, ANT_OPTS are properly set before installing OIM.
I have tried several times but still getting the same error.
Please help me to resolve this issue.
Did anyone face this issue before??????
Edited by: Katheresh on May 17, 2010 9:36 PMI am not certain but when I was installing OIM 9.1.x with wls 10.3.0 on windows I had a failure too and it turned out I didn't create the wls domain user and group for OIM. The docs for OIM 9.1 does not talk about it so you may want to create this account and group and re-try the install. The steps are below:
Log in to the WebLogic Admin Console using your new account by pointing a web browser to the following url:
http://<hostname>:7001/console
1. Select Security, then Realms, then myrealm, and then Groups from the navigation panel on the left.
2. Select the Configure a new Group link in the Groups page.
3. Enter User for the group name in the Name field under the General tab and optionally enter a description for the group.Click Apply.
Note:
The group name User is case-sensitive.
4. Select Security, then Realms, then myrealm, and then Users from the navigation panel on the left.
5. Select the Configure a new User link in the Users page.
6. Enter Internal for the user name in the Name field under the General tab and optionally enter a description for the user.
Note:
The user name Internal is case-sensitive.
7. Enter and confirm a password associated with the user name Internal and click Apply.
8. Select the Groups tab.
9. Add the User group to the list of Current Groups for the Internal user by selecting User from the list of Possible Groups and clicking the --> right arrow button. Click Apply.
Please post back if it works,
Thanks, -

My installation is failing and I cannot seem to get to the bottom of it. Any pointers / help here is appreciated.
XIMDD does not report any problem prior to running the installation. The database operations all seem to occur successfully, but there are problems deploying to WebLogic. The myserver.log content and the Java VM System Properties Report from the XIMDD is included. The environment is:

####<Jan 23, 2007 4:50:15 PM EST> <Warning> <Deployer> <SNSSRV101>Ryan,
I'm starting to set up the same environment as you. The purpose is to learn as I'm a newbie to IdM. What are all the components I will need to install? From the tutorials/docs on this site I was able to conclude:
Oracle DB
App Server - tutorial uses JBoss...I'd rather use WebLogic to learn it as well
Oracle Identity Manager
Does sequence matter? Unfortunately, the tutorials aren't as detailed as, for example, Microsoft's Walkthroughs for MIIS 2003.
Thanks and sorry to bug you with newbie questions. -
OIM installation OIM schema missing on configure JDBC component schema
I am trying to install OIM on Linux . I have installed Oracle 11g DB, RCU 11.1.1.6 version, Weblogic 10.3.5 Version, Oracle SOA Suite General version 11.1.1.6. I have installed OIM Version 11.1.1.6 with option install and configure later. I was able to install until this point successfully.
When configuring OIM installation by executing the command in /oracle/Oracle/Middleware/Oracle_IDM1/common/bin/config.sh and moved on to step configure JDBC component Schema .. the page displays only SOA infrastructure, User Messaging Service, OWSM MDS Schema, SOA MDS Schema. The wizard does not display OIM Schema and OIM MDS Schema. I have tried several times and it does not show schemas related to OIM.
Your help is greatly appreciated. I have been trying for almost 1 week and was not successful. As i.m.k. said, there is no OIM 11.1.1.6. The latest release of OIM is 11.1.1.5 (BP 3 I believe) the base can be found via Patch ID: 12575064. You've downloaded Identity Management 11.1.1.6 which does not contain OIM. At this point, you are going to need to use the RCU 11.1.1.6 tool to roll out the schema creates, then download RCU 11.1.1.5 to recreate the schema. You also need to download the SOA Suite 11.1.1.5 (Patch ID: 13691768) and blowout/reinstall SOA. Likewise with OIM.

OIM Installation - Post Installation Issues
Hi,
I am able to install Oracle Identity Manager (11.1.1.5.0) from OIAM Suite 11g.
The installation is standalone OIM without LDAP sync. After the installation I am able to start the admin server and soa server. But as I start the oim serve, it throws error in deployment of oim application. The stack trace is as follows -

Any resolution on this ? In case the post installation steps are common - why they are not part of the standard installation so that it will not get missed.

OIM application intialization failed because of the following reasons:
Unable to find keystore ".xldatabasekey" in <DOMAIN_HOME>/config/fmwconfig/.
oracle.iam.platform.utils.OIMAppInitializationException:
OIM application intialization failed because of the following reasons:
Unable to find keystore ".xldatabasekey" in <DOMAIN_HOME>/config/fmwconfig/.
OIM generates this key(.xlDataBaseKey) during OIM Installation itself. It seems like for some reason it(.xlDataBaseKey) was nos created <DOMAIN_HOME>/config/fmwconfig/.
So, follow this instructions here:
(http://ssb.sewanee.edu/oradocs/OBIEE/core.1111/e12035/oim.htm#CFHDDACC) 13.11 Adding the CSF Entries for Oracle Identity Management and WSM
I hope this helps.

Issue in bringing up CRS on ATG 10.1.1 with MySQL and Weblogic 10.3
Hello,
I am trying to bring up Commerce Reference Store as part of my evaluation using MySQL (bundled with ATG) and WebLogic 10.3.
I followed the ATG Documentation on CRS with WebLogic and MySQL and I could not proceed because of the below error log. I keep getting error in OnlineCreateServerInstanceTask of CIM. I believe it should be some configuration problem, but could not think of any.
As part of the installation, I use C:\jdk1.6.0_25. I verified my weblogic server is up through the admin console. I started MySQL before running the eval batch. Apart from starting MySQL server, I did not make any datasource/database configuration changes for ATG. I have not run any other scripts to configure MySQL too.
Please guide me to resolve the problem.

Thanks. This error is resolved after following the logs in C:\ATG\ATG10.1.1\CIM\log\cim.log. The root cause is I used http as protocol instead of t3 while specifying weblogic admin url.
http://localhost:7001 instead of t3://localhost:7001

Eclipse indigo and weblogic 10.3- not able to download wl 10.3 to indigo
Install new extension from eclipse indogo, it does not give option of weblogic 10.3. It gives
BEA Weblogic Server v8.1
BEA Weblogic Server v9.0
BEA Weblogic Server v9.1
BEA Weblogic Server v9.2
BEA Weblogic Server v10.0
It does not give
BEA Weblogic Server v10.3
How do I configure weblogic 10.3 to eclipse[indigo]?
1.Change Eclipse memory settings by updating the properties of eclipse.ini file -Xmx768m -Xms256m
2.Make sure this configuration (-Dsun.lang.ClassLoader.allowArraySyntax=true) is there, if not add it and save the file.
3.Make sure you have configured your Weblogic server in "Development" mode. If node done, please change the configuration.
4.Start Eclipse
5.Go to Window -> Preferences -> Server -> Installed Runtimes -> Add
6.In the dialog "New Server Runtime", there is a link "Download additional server adapters". Click it, and Eclipse will search on the Internet for additional server adapters. When it's done, select “Oracle Web Logic Server Tools” (or more appropriate one, if you get one) and install it.
7.Alternate to step 5, you can add http://download.oracle.com/otn_software/oepe/galileo as updated site in Eclipse and install the Eclipse pack from Oracle.
8.Restart your Eclipse after installation.
9.Open server view as Window ->Open View -> Others -> Server ->Servers
10.Right click on the pane, and select new server
11.In the next screen, select your JRE e.g. JRE 1.5 and Weblogic installation directory e.g. C:\bea\weblogic.
12.Click next
13.In next screen, provide the Weblogic domain directory e.g. C:\bea\weblogic\myprojects\domains\mydomain, provide the Weblogic port e.g. 7001 and user id/password for the Weblogic server.
14.Click finish.
15.Double click on the server; it will open server details in the editor. Make sure publish automatically check box is check. If not checked, check it, save and close it.
16.At this point, you can see Weblogic server listed in server pane.
17.You can right click the server and add/remove projects from your workspace to this server. No it's different. It's different script.
I got the below response from Oracle support, and I'm trying to see where this Servers tab is. I see a servers tab in preference, but I don't think that's what they mean because there's no domain item.. Any idea?
Basically, OEPE connects to weblogic domain through admin server. When you create a new server in OEPE, you only choose domain instead of individual servers, and that server created maps to domain's admin server.
If you want to deploy the application developed in OEPE to managed servers or cluster, you could try the following:
1) browse to Servers tab
2) right click on the domain
3) choose 'Properties'
4) choose 'WebLogic' -> 'Publishing' -> 'Advanced'
5) move disired target from left to right -
Installation hangs at 72% during Weblogic server 9.2 installation
I had already Weblogic portal server in my machine working fine. 3 days back when I opened workshop, it said "Could not create Java Virtual Machine" and was not starting. After that I reduced xms and xmx values in workshop.ini file and it worked but it gave other problems like outofmemory. So, I uninstalled that.
And When I tried to reinstall the Weblogic portal 9.2, installation went till 72% and when it turned to "Creating Sample Domains..." it got hang. I couldn't install it at all. Can someone please explain why it happened and how to resolve it? First of all I could not understand why suddenly it said "Could not create Java Virtual Machine"???????
I have Windows Xp Service pack 2 with 3 GB of RAM memory and 7 GB free space in C drive.Dear Senthil,
It seems your RAM is getting utilized by some other processes on your machine , Check all of them as you have enough RAM required by WLS. Also for next installation , delete all the files created by earlier installation .
Also importantly unset the environment variables got set by earlier WLS installation. -
Calrification for Weblogic Clustering
Our J2EE application is multitiered where JSPs&Servlets(Frontend) runs in a weblogic instance and EJBs(Backend) runs in two weblogic instances which are clustered. Here the Frontend weblogic instance and one of the clustered Backend weblogic instance are running in a same machine A and the other clustered Backend weblogic instance is running in another machine B. We had tested the following cases for Failover
Note :
please consider "JSPs&Servlets" as Frontend and "EJBs" as Backend.
Weblogic 9.2 and stateless session beans are used.
Frontend is not clustered.
Case 1:
We are doing a transaction where the request from frontend goes to one of the of the Clustered Backend weblogic instance. Before the transaction gets completed this backend weblogic instance is made to shutdown. The transaction has failed over to the another available Clustered Backend weblogic instance . The transaction had completed successfully and the Failover is working fine.
Case 2:
We are doing a transaction where the request from frontend(running in Machine A) goes to the Clustered Backend weblogic instance running in the Machine A itself. Before the transaction gets completed, the machine A is made to shutdown (i.e. both frontend and backend weblogic instance shuts down at the same time). Here the transaction has failed and could not able failover to the other available Backend weblogic instance .
Please clarify whether weblogic cluster supports the Backend failover when both the Frontend and Backend are brought down at the same time?
Any weblogic CLustering experts, please clarify...Hi Jayesh,
Thanks very much for your reply.
I understood that your reply "You might want to consider collapsing front end (servlet & JSP) and back end (EJB) servers into a single WebLogic server for better fail over support." means that JSP&Servlet and EJB should be combined to form a single archive(EAR) which has to be deployed in single weblogic instance.
Please check whether my assumptions are correct for your suggestion on better failover.
1.The cluster configuration of JSPs&Servlet(web.xml) and EJBs(ejb-jar.xml) running in single weblogic instance will be similar to the cluster configuration of JSPs&Servlet(web.xml) and EJBs(ejb-jar.xml) running in separate weblogic instances. i.e All the configurations are same, but instead of the application running in separate weblogic instances, it will run in single weblogic instance.
2.In the URL for specifying the EJB connection from the JSP&Servlet, the cluster IP address should be used.
You have mentioned that if EJB client is not alive, the failover will not work. Please clarify how the failover will work in this case only(JSP&Servlet and EJB running in single weblogic instance and clustered).
Thanks,

Weblogic clustering with IIS as web server
Hi,
I have two IIS servers and two machines for weblogic. I am planning to have
a weblogic clustering. I have seen the documentation online. But has some questions
for which dint find any answers.
Somewhere on the newsgroup I read , if we will be having IIS proxy-plug in we
do not need the DNS setup. Is that true ?
How many IPs and other things I need to do this setup ? What is admin server &
its role ? configuration how to do it is not avaliable in the documentation.
Could someone help ?
Thanks and Regards,
Sheetal

Hi All,
I am trying to install OIM 9.1.0.1 on the following configuration:
OS: Windows 2003 server
jdk: Sun jdk 1.6.0_10
App Server: jboss 4.0.3
database: Oracle 10g
I have successfully installed java, and database and run the prepare_xl_db.bat file without any error (except the normal view or table doesn't exist).
But when I run the setup_server.bat file, it just starts with a command prompt and then gets closed and no other screen for installation appears.
I have checked the java_home, classpath and path variables. Everything looks fine.
java_home is set to the jdk folder.
classpath to the bin folder of jdk.
path is set to the system32, webem and bin folder of jdk folder.
If anyone has any idea about the same, please post.
Thanks
GauravAre you using Virtual Environment ?
If yes, where you have kept the installables, Is it on ethe same machine where you are installing or you have kept it on your physical machine ?
You may laugh but once it worked for someone. So he suggested me. :)
When your command prompt opens it will show some file name.
Just see the temp folder, is it creating folder (temp folder of OIM Installables). Give try after copying the installables in temp folder of windows.
