OIM - IT Resource - how to cofigure Mail Server

Hi,
Maybe it is dummy question... but I want to configure a mail server as an IT resource in OIM and there are 4 fields to fill; authentication, server name, user login, user password, what authentication field refers to? It is not obligatory field but what to write in it?
Thanks in advance!

OK, I have left the field (authentication) blank.
My goal is to send email to user, when a resource is provisioned to him.
After adding mail server, I have made an email definition in the Design Console with following attributes:
Type: Provisioning Type
Object Name: Here goes my resource
Process Name: Here goes process related to the resource
From: User
User Login: XELSYSADM
But it does not work, did I miss anything?

  • How to config mail server

    Hi,
    I have apex 3.2 installed on O11g.
    My email system hosted through gmail service.
    Does any one know how to setup email server using hosted GMAIL?
    Thanks

    Hi "hlthanh",
    The authentication is going to be an issue for APEX, as you can only specify an SMTP server which does not require authentication. I know - it is a limitation in APEX that I wish to address in APEX 4.0, but that doesn't help you right now. All I can suggest is to stand up a relay between APEX and GMail, have APEX push mail (unauthenticated) the relay and then use the relay to push it to GMail's SMTP.
    Sorry I don't have a better suggestion.

  • How to get mail server host?

    Hi, All.
    I try to implement my background co and get two questions.
    1. How can I get the mail server host name which I set in GP Administrator?
    2. How can I get my EP server`s host name?
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi,
    No idea about first question.
    For second, you can try this code :
    try {
         InetAddress thisIp =InetAddress.getLocalHost();
         String url = "http://"+thisIp.getCanonicalHostName();
         final String instanceNumber = System.getProperty("SAPSYSTEM").toString();
         final int httpPortNumber = 50000 + 100 * Integer.parseInt( instanceNumber );
         url+=":" + httpPortNumber;
    } catch(Exception e){

  • How to configure mail server for subscription

    Hi,
    I want to test subscription. My problem is how to configure the mail server.
    As to my understanding, we need first configure mail server, then the user can choose "Subscribe" in the Details screen of a folder.
    My steps are:
    1. In KM - CM - Utilities - Channels, specify SMTP server, userId and password.
    2. In KM - CM - Utilities - Channel originators, set the Original address for notificator.EMAIL.
    3. In KM - Collaboration - Groupware Transport - Mail Transport, specify SMTP server and sent message folder.
    After that, when I choose a user and click "Send email", it failed saying "Failed to communicate with SMTP server when sending the email.".
    Could anyone tell me what's wrong with my configuration, or what should I do to make subscription work?
    Thanks,
    Ray

    Hi Vineeth,
    Thanks for help.
    According to your steps:
    1. set up a mail transport and making notification and mailing service active.
       In System admin - KM - CM - Global services, I've enabled Inbox, Mailing and Notification services.
      In KM - CM - Collaboration - Groupware Transport, I've set up a mail transport:
      Name: JavaMailTransport
      SMTP Server: smtp.yahoo.com
      Sent message folder: /documents
      System alias name: mytransport
    2. Give everyone read permission on notifications in KM.
      Where can I set user's permission on notifications? I think you mean folder /etc/notifications, but I don't know how to set permissions.
    3. Check if proper id's are maintained in users profile.
      How to do this?
    Thanks for help~~
    Regards,
    Ray

  • How to ping mail server in sent mail ?

    in my send mail code if my mail server is invalid then it throws SocketException if i want to ping mail server before i sent email how can i do that if i want avoid this SocketException

    AmitChalwade123456 wrote:

Even if it responds to the ping, it may go down between the ping and sending the mail. Or it may respond to the ping, meaning the box is up, but the mail service may still be down.
    Whether it comes from a failed ping or from an exception, the end result is the same: You can't send mail to that server right now.
    Just catch the exception and handle it. Don't overcomplicate things for no gain.

  • How to setup Mail Server in Lion

    I'm wondering how to setup the mail server if I have a website that is being hosted by a site like go daddy. I really have no IT experience and wanted this server to help my company get organized and on track. So far I have been able to get the VPN and File Sharing working. My next steps are the mail server and iCal. Thanks for the help it will be greatly appreicated!

    Well, it depends heavily on what operating system you're using, what mail server you're trying to install, your network topology, etc. Realistically, this is a question that is probably better asked in a forum for whatever mail server you're trying to install...

  • How does http mail server work?

    can you suggest a site which has information regarding working of http mail server? When i check my mail through a browser at, say yahoo.com, is only http used or is IMAP or POP protocol also in picture, and if yes then at what stage of mail retrieval does the protocol change?

    You do not mention what version of iMS you are talking about so I'll assume iMS 5.2 for my answer. Second I've no idea what yahoo.com uses, nor do I care.
    When you do http://<yourmailstore>/ you are talking to a basic HTTP server. That server then gets your mail from the mail store and shows it to you. The methods by which the HTTP server gets the messages from the store is internal information and not available.
    In large scale environments where more than a single mail store is used, then webmail proxies are deployed. The users speak HTTP to the proxies which in turn speak HTTP to the mail stores. The mail stores then use what I described above to get the users mailbox data and send it back to the proxy via HTTP which then sends it back to the client via HTTP.
    iMS webmail does not use POP or IMAP in any way, those are completely different protocols that are based on the Internet standards. There are no Internet standards for Webmail, at least that I am aware of.

  • How to migrate mail server IMAP (lion) to Maverick

    Hi guys,
    I need migrate my lion server mail imap to maverick.
    How can I do?
    Can anyone help?
    Many Thanks.

    Information on migrations to Dovecot from various other mail servers.
    That document includes commands for imapsync and larch, among other options.
    (If you're stuck for access, you could always slam the passwords, migrate the mail, and then re-issue the credentials.  Massively ugly, but possible.)

  • How to have mail server automatically cc all email for a user to other acct

    I have a user on my 4.9 Xserve who wants her email automatically send to another account. I set forwarding first, but her email client keeps asking her for a password (and hers doesn't work) and won't allow her to see past email. Is that normal? Anyway, I've shut off forwarding for now, and am wondering if it's possible to have it automatically cc'd to another account (send a copy, but don't interfere with her ability to manage the email in her normal account with an IMAP client). Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Be aware that you are about to enter the dark zone of Unix file editing. Once there, you may never want to come back. Your friends and relatives will spurn you and you will start to dress in dark clothes and listen to impenetrable music.
    You can also screw up your whole system... but hey, who wants to live forever
    If you have a skateboard, sit it on your desk, then switch off all other lights except for an anglepoise...
    In Terminal, cd to postfix directory, and just for interest, list the files already there...
    cd /etc/postfix
    ls -l
    You should see the main.cf one which you will edit later.
    Create the new recipient_bcc file using 'pico', one of the built-in text editors. This is the easiest to start with because it contains on-screen help. There are others, including 'vi' which I would normally use. You will prefix the command with 'sudo' which temporarily makes you the 'super-user' (root) and needs the admin password. So...
    sudo pico recipient_bcc
    Add the two email addresses, separated by a tab or space, on the left: the local email address, and on the right: the address to send copies to (BCCs). To edit existing text, use arrow keys. Save the file using ctrl-o, confirm filename, then exit (ctrl-x).
    For postfix to be able to read this as a database, you need to 'postmap' it...
    sudo postmap recipient_bcc
    To confirm, list the files and you will see the two new ones (ls -l).
    Before editing the main.cf file, make a backup copy of it...
    sudo cp main.cf main.cf.bak
    If you need to revert to the backup, you reverse the orig/target args...
    sudo cp main.cf.bak main.cf
    Edit the main.cf file (sudo pico main.cf) and either 'next page' to bottom or enter '^_' (ctrl + underscore char) then specify line number 999.
    add the line...
    recipientbccmaps = hash:/etc/postfix/recipient_bcc
    Postfix knows to use the postmaped .db file so you do not specify that one in the line.
    Save and exit file.
    Reload the postfix main.cf configuration file...
    sudo postfix reload
    Test it by sending an email to the user and watch the mail.log in Console app. You should see the BCC being sent to the other email address. If something has gone wrong, replace the main.cf with the backup, issue postfix reload, then try again.
    Once you have confirmed it working, dance around the room playing air guitar and give high-fives to any innocent bystander.

  • ICloud incoming mail server

    Good day all,
    For most of the day yesterday I and many others were having difficulty authenticating iOS mail and OS X mail clients to the Apple "appleid.apple.com" servers.  It may have been a load issue or a configuration issue on the servers (which are used for both mobileme and icloud.  By mid-evening on the east oast of the USA the occurences of password reject were diminishing and now seem to have stabilized.
    Today I am having problems with the incoming server bank at "p02-imap.mail.me.com".  It either does not connect or does not respond in adequate time to satisfy the Apple mail clients.
    I have 4 ex-family MobileMe accounts converted to iCloud.  Three of them were assigned "p99-imap.mail.me.com" for incoming mail.  The fourth was assigned "p02-imap.mail.me.com".  In all instances the incoming mail server was populated during account migration and is not editable.
    As an issue of curiousity, does anyone know how the incoming mail server was assigned?  Did the first 250,000 of us get one server and the next another, etc.?
    I suspect  "pXX-imap.mail.me.com" is a server bank with load balancing implemented across multiple servers.  Or maybe (shudder) we are hard assigned one physical server (p99, p02, etc.).
    It would be interesting to know how Apple's new improved data center(s) have been logically configured for redundancy, load balancing and fail over.
    Sorry - it's the geek in me wondering why I can't get my email from a specific Apple resource ("p02-imap.mail.me.com").

    You don't have to type any server info for your iCloud account.
    System prefs > Mail, Contacts & Calendars - New account and select iCloud.
    Unfortunately, that was step 1 in the process of not being able to use my mail in iCloud. Also, I have tried changing my password to 8 numbers/letter, etc. in accordance with the new AppleID rules, but that did not work. I have also tried deleting and recreating my account multiple times. I am definitely willing to try any more suggestions.

    Hi Azhar
    You can specify your mail server on the Portal.
    Go to System Administration -> System Configuration -> UM Configuration.
    You will find a field there to specify your mail Server.
    You may also have to specify this in the config tool of your WAS Server to enable email notification
