OIM Patch

hey guys,
Am going to upgrade (install a patch) OIM. I just want to know the latest patch already installed in OIM. How can i find the latest patch already installed in the system. Trying to know whether this patch is already installed in the system.
Current patch am trying to install is - Release 9.1.0.2 BP13
Thanks

If you go to your xellerate/config folder and look at the Version.props file, this is what is put into the XSD table. You should be able to search metalink to find this value. If not, you might need to download the other bundle patches and check this file to see the version, but it should be available in the searchs.

  • Using OPatch for OIM patches - do you need write privs to ORACLE_HOME

We are in the process of installing OIM and have reached the post configuration step, which requires us to install a patch.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/install.1111/e12002/oidonly009.htm#CDDGCDBB
We are in a separate group that the DBA team and we dont have write privs to ORACLE_HOME. Can you run opatch as user id X when ORACLE_HOME is owned by user id Y.
Also, when we installed WL + SOA + OIM, we were prompted for a oracle inventory location and opted to use the local inventory. I tried: "opatch lsinventory -invPtrLoc /<local-inventory-loc>" but that too failed.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

I could upgrade to OIM 11.1.1.5 but that is only pushing out the problem. The real question is how does one patch Oracle Fusion middleware products?
Since I was able to install WL+SOA+OIM using an id X, I should be able to patch the same software using the same unix id X. But it fails. opatch obviously is a tool that was designed to patch Oracle database software and it almost seems like it is assumed that whoever is running it has read/write access to $ORACLE_HOME. These are not valid requirements for a server that only hosts fusion middleware. Infact, we dont even need the Oracle client to install fusion middleware.
Has anyone been able to run opatch on a server that either does not have a ORACLE_HOME, or the Oracle client is installed but the user executing opatch does not have write access to $ORACLE_HOME.
    Thanks

  • OIM PATCH BP05

    Hi,
We have an OIM on jboss server and we upgraded it now with patch BP05 (according to the patch read me file). The issue is after applying patch we are able to work with design console but not Web Console.
At the first attempt of accessing the web console the server threw errors related to some tmp folders. We deleted all the tmp files in tmp/deploy of jboss and tried again.
This time we could see the login page but right after entering the credentials we are getting the following error.
ERROR [org.apache.catalina.core.ContainerBase.[jboss.web].[localhost].[xlWebApp].[action]] Servlet.service() for servlet action threw exception

Tried restarting the database also, but no use.
Anyone faced an issue similar to this??? pls suggest

    Hi,
Thank you for the input. I have checked everything again and ran the patch_jboss with new java_home. I'm still struck with the same problem. I'm also getting the following error in server window at the tome of start up.

  • Upgrade to OIM 9.1

    Hi,
Oracle released OIM 9.1 but with NO upgrade path included. Oracle promises to roll out the upgrade patch by June 08. Hope it materializes. It is still not clear if they would add any more (older) OS and App Server versions to the supported list by then and maintain the upgrade path continuity from earlier versions.
The upgrade from OIM 8.5.3 to 9.0.1.x is clear. We realize there is always a continuity or overlap of versions of OS, App Server and Database server from one OIM version to next. For example, all of them supported Solaris9 and WebSphere 5.1.x.
But as per its Release Notes, OIM 9.1 requires Solaris10 and WebSphere 6.1.0.9. How can we upgrade OS, App Server and OIM all at once ? I dont think, it would be as simple as upgrading only OIM.
Could it be that you just create a fresh install of OIM 9.1 on any OS and App Server you want and run the upgrade scripts only against the database schema of previous OIM, and then point the new OIM 9.1 installation to the upgraded database schema ?
If this is possible, then one can land up with a hardware, OS, App Server of his/her wish and OIM 9.1 with all the history/audit data of all users/resources.
    Any opinions ?
Any knowledge how is Oracle going to tackle this ?
    Many Regards.

Ok, I got an answer to a part of the question from Re: OIM Patches - do I need 9102? that I have to install the base patch of 9.1.0.2 and then apply BP12 patch. Could anyone please let me know the answers to the rest of the questions?

  • ORABPEL - 30308 SOA request on 11.1.1.5 patched

Scenario: OIM patched from 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.1.5
(at some point the workflows were also deployed to the application server (weblogic)).
This problem was not seen when the system was at 11.1.1.3
    Steps:
    - create a request (request for others)
    - pick a request template (eg add user to windows ad group)
    - add user login
    - add role
    - submit request
    Log files then shows:

Yes - regarding workflow re-build, when the 11.1.1.3 workflows were open by jdeveloper 11.1.1.5, it presented an option to migrate them to the new version and was accepted. EM shows all the workflows are running successfully. So did you accept them and then deployed them again? Did you use the same revision id as previous while deploying? Did you select the option of over-write the same revisions? And in OIM did you disable them and deployed them in SOA and then enabled them again?
I'll check the call to hwf:getPreviousTaskApprover, what kind of problem do you suspect with this? BTW, I've inherited code developed (11.1.1.3) by a predecessor, so a bit of a learning curve for me here :)The error log shows some error at getPreviousTaskApprover call and wanted to know if that's causing an issue on 11.1.1.5. But I also think that the getPreviousTaskApprover call is going internally from your email notification service where you might be sending a mail on task approval to the previous approver.
As for the flow status, you check your workflow instance in EM and check the flow chart there to determine where it is failing.

Can anyone explain why this error occured and how to solve this???
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi,
This error is due to incorrect JAVA_HOME. Use correct JAVA_HOME before running patch_oim_wls.sh script. setenv PATH <JAVA_HOME>/bin:$PATH.

I have seen similar error on forum but it has not been answered.
I have set all variables correctly and the directory has all permissions as well.
Please let me know what I am missing here.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your help.
The directory was already created during patch execution.
My error was related to MDS password.
The password for mds was different from OIM password so the patch errored out.
Once the mds password was updated correctly in the profile file, the patch executed successfully.

It seems that there was some problem while applying the patch.
OIM is looking for System Property"XL.OIM-ORM.Integration.Deployed" which is not there in OIM Database. You can create a system property with this name and restart your server. It's value should be false if you are not having ORM.

  • Error while patching 14196234 -OIM 11g R2

    Hi,
I am currently in the process of applying mandatory patches for OIM 11g R2, when I run run opatch lsinventory it succeeds, but when I run opatch apply following error is thrown:
Error during Update inventory for apply phase]. Detail:OPatch failed: Applysession failed in system modification phase...'ApplySession::apply failed: Current access level does not allow writing to the inventory'
I am on the latest OPatch version 11.2.
    Thanks in advance

I did not try doing that as the read me says "Product Patched is Oracle SOA Platform" and preinstallation steps says "Set the ORACLE_HOME environment variable to SOA Home" (and not ORACLE_IDM1)
    Thanks again

  • Patching OIM 11.1.1.5.3 to 11.1.1.5.6 Question

I would like to only patch my OIM 11.1.1.5.3 to OIM 11.1.1.5.6.
    Patch Number: 14760839
Bundle Name: Oracle Identity Management Suite BP patch of 11.1.1.5.2
Looking into the downloaded zip, I see patches for the following:
    - OIM 11.1.1.5.6
    - OAM 11.1.1.5.5
    - OES 11.1.1.5.4
    - OAAM 11.1.5.2
In my environment I have OIM and OAM. Is it a requirement to patch OAM if I patch OIM to 11.1.1.5.6?

    Hi,
If you are applying patch set for OIM ie from OIM 11.1.1.5.3 to OIM 11.1.1.5.6, it is not required to apply patch to OAM. OIAm products are certified in release level not in patch set level.
    Please see the certification matrix.

    Mark if this helps you.

  • How to proactively get information on OIM/OIA latest patches

Is there a way for a customer to proactively get information on the latest patches (BP) available? Is there a document on MOS that maintains this information?
    Thanks.

When you install/configure OIM you have the option of checking for updates automatically. I think that can automatically check for updates from the product itself. Although for that to work, you will have to allow access to oracle.com from your server. Another option would be to check the metalink notes periodically to see what's been out. There are specific notes which track for OIM9.x, OIM11.1.1.3x and then one for OIM11.1.1.5.x . I am not sure about OIA but there should be one as well.
