OJ 8500: Scan to Network Folders - invalid username/password with no password.

I'm using an 8500 Pro Wireless (A909g) on Windows 7 machine.  I'm trying to set up the Scan to Network Folder feature.
Problem is this: I dno't have a Windows password set up.  In this case, the printer cannot log onto my computer.  If I set a password on my PC, and then edit the scan to network settings for this password, then it can connect.
I don't want to have a password on my PC and would like the printer to log on to it this way. I tried deleting the profile and re-adding it.  Still no luck.
Any help?
This question was solved.
View Solution.

I solved it.
Two things to check.
1) Under Advanced Sharing Options (Network & Sharing Center --> Homegroups and Sharing options --> advanced sharing options....) -- Password Protected Sharing has to be OFF
2) For the folder that you are wanting to share and have scans saved to, right click, properties, security.  You need to add "NETWORK" as a user and make sure its set to READ/WRITE.
That fixed it for me.

  • Digial Filing, Scan to Network Folder not working on new Asus Windows 8.1 laptop

I've having difficulty setting up Digital Filing, Scan to Network Folder on my new Asus Windows 8.1 laptop. I'm using a HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909g Series.
It seems to setup correctly with no errors. However, all scans end up with a zero file size PDF. Trying to open them gives the error: “Adobe reader could not open 'scan.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
I've previously had no problem setting up network folders to scan to on three other computers, all of which were running Windows 7, not 8.1. Digital Filling continues to work correctly on each of these older computers, but try as I might, I'm unable to get this feature to work with my new Windows 8.1 laptop. I've tried with both the “Solution Center” software and the embedded web access.
I've compared all the setting I could think of to the previous Network Folders that work and cannot find any differences.
The workaround, scanning from my laptop using the Solution Center software (rather from the printer console using digital filing, scan to network folder) works perfectly. As far as I can tell, all other features are working.

The STUDIO is an older laptop running Windows 7. Scanning to network folders works perfectly as long as the folder chosen is in the \Users\Public folder.
I do not know nor have not needed the Windows password on this laptop. It's been years since I set up this laptop; I don't know if it even has a password.
The ASUS is a new laptop running Windows 8.1. So far, I have been unable to scan to a network folder; all the resulting PDFs are zero bytes.
The network folders are all in Network Path: \\ASUS\Users\Public; if I try to create them outside this folder, I'm unable to even finish setting up the network scan.
I DO know the Windows username and password for this new laptop.
    Username: [email protected]
    Password: Gpaork3edrecnlau
I've compared the properties on the folders involved on the two laptops by right-clicking them. So far as I can tell, everything is set exactly the same on both computers.
Below are my experiments – the first three on my older Windows 7 laptop all work perfectly. All the rest on my new Windows 8.1 computer do not work.

  • Officejet Pro 8500 A909g Scan-To-Network-Folder Problem On New Dell Optiplex 3020

I hope that I am posting this issue to the correct board.
I recently purchased a Dell Optiplex 3020 64-bit desktop running Windows 7 Pro. My home network now has the old HP printer and my original 2003 vintage Sony Vaio XP Home 32-bit on wired connections. There is also an HP Notebook 64-bit running Windows 7 Home, using a WiFi connection. I replaced a Linux clone (which had connected ok to the printer) with the new Dell on the same wired connection.
With the other 2 PCs, I was able to set up Scan To Network Folder using the original HP software with no problems. I used a current setup file from the HP site to set up the Dell. The file is: "OJP 8500vA909_Full_14 HP Webpack". The Dell prints fine, but when I try to set up the network scan folders on the Dell the setup stalls and I get a request for an SSL certificate. I don't know if this is being generated by the OS or by the HP setup file that I downloaded. I can't figure out how to get the network folders to work on the new Dell, and I know next to nothing about SSL.
To be clear, the old Sony is a 32-bit Windows Home Edition, the HP notebook is Windows 7 Home 64-bit, and the new Dell is Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Sometime soon, the Sony will be retired and the OS environment will become much simpler.
While I'm at it, I probably should update the printer firmware. However, my guess is that I should wait to do that until the old 32-bit Sony goes out to pasture.
TIA for any advice and suggestions.

    Hi Alla-guy,
As far as I know, you have posted your issue to the correct board, now let us see what we can do to get it resolved
I will answer your easier question first, in regards to the firmware. You can update the firmware whenever you are ready! You don't need to wait for the other computer to reach it's end, as the firmware is just within the hardware of the printer and shouldn't affect anything software wise on the computer, so go ahead and update the firmware when you have a few minutes!
As for the setting up to scan to a network folder, it is odd that it's asking for SSL, do you know if you're the administrator on the new computer?
I realize the instructions in this Set up and Use Direct Digital Filing for Windows document are for setup, but still have a look and make sure that is how things were going for yourself. Also, it may be a good idea to check any firewalls or anti-virus that you have and temporarily disable any firewalls or programs that could be blocking things over the network.
Let me know how this goes for you!

  • Problem setup scanning to network folder Officejet 8500 Wifi

    Hi,
For hours now I'm trying to get my printer scanning to network folder to work, but it just won't!! The printer is connected wireless successful.
I'm in the setup menu (via the browser) -> Scan-Digital Filing ->Network Folder Configuration and filled in all the required fields:
Network Path: \\192.168.178.15\E:\Dropbox\Scans HP printer OR \\Maarten\E:\Dropbox\Scans HP printer
Also tried to a network shared folder: \\MAARTEN\Users\Maarten
    Username: [my Windows user name]
    Password: [my login password]
But I still get the message: Username or password is incorrect. Make sure both user account and password are valid.
Can someone please help me?! Thanks.

    Hey Amazon62 ,
I am looking into this scan to network folder setup issue for you, but in the mean time, have  you tried changing the password?
The password may not be fitting the criteria needed for the printer, special character may be included for example. Try changing the password and or user name just as a test and let me know.

Edited by: SSNair on Jun 17, 2011 5:43 AMHere's your problem:
-bash-3.00$ sqlplus IRES_USER/U9$bvs#ir@DBBecaue of the dollar-sign, The shell is trying to expand the environment variable $bvs#ir@DB
Of course you have no environment variable by that name so what gets passed to sqlplus is not "IRES_USER/U9$bvs#ir@DB", but rather "IRES_USER/U9"
In your first test, you didn't pass the password on the command line, so the shell didn't get a chance to intercept it.
You can have a similar issue if you have a '@' in your password
oracle> sqlplus scott/P@ssword@orclTns will catch that first "@" as the delimiter to the tns string, and come up with something that cant' be resolved.

If you specify only the database name, then Oracle Database implicitly appends the database domain to the connect string to create a complete service name. Therefore, if the database domain of the remote database is different from that of the current database, then you must specify the complete service name.

  • Invalid username and password combination woes

Before I do what I think I am supposed to do... I wanted to run this by you guys first to make sure incase someone found a way. I wish i didn't have to do this but...
I have a Mac on our domain running 10.6.6. It had a seizure of some kind and i was forced to cold boot it. We got it back up and running and to the login screen, but when we tried logging in to it, the login in screen just shook. No matter what AD account i tried logging in with, SHAKE! SHAKE! SHAKE The next thing i decided to do was unbind and rebind the Mac thinking maybe it had something to do with that. NO GOOD. Not only did I get an error that the Mac could not unbind from our domain, but now, no matter what account i use to try and rebind the mac, I get the dreaded: invalid username and password combination error. WHEN I KNOW THAT'S NOT THE CASE!
Anyone know how to fix this OTHER THAN downgrading to a version of 10.6.x that CAN bind? If that's even a option???
    Thanks!

Why is that always any Apple support person or Mac users answer? It's a Microsoft problem. How can it be, I have 20 macs connected to the same network. The mac having the problem has been successfully working for 3 months. It started shaking when the user came in and in the troubleshooting process we removed it and are trying to rejoin it backl on to a domain it has been working on for months and 19 other machines are still working on. How is this a microsoft problem? Please enlightne me? If it sounds like I am frustrated, I apologize, but I AM!

  • IPhone deploy gets Login Error (Invalid username/password).  Android works

Hi, we're developing an ADF Mobile app on JDeveloper 11.1.2.3 which does initial authentication against Weblogic.
The login & app works fine on Android, but fails when we deploy the same app to iPhone (iOS 5.0.1, but also 5.1, 6.0 & 6.1 in the Simulator).
    Specific message is :
    Login Error
Invalid username/password. If the problem persists, please contact your system administrator.
It's definitely on the network and reaching the login server, because when we shut down the server or make the network unavailable, the message reports "The login server is not reachable"
All I can think is it's possibly encrypting the password differently within iOS.
Not having much luck on Google or other searches, so any thoughts are appreciated.
    Thanks
    Peter

I found a bit more information in the Weblogic Managed Server logs proving the login request reaches the server, but gives this error. Not much luck on google so, if this rings any bells for anyone thoughts are appreciated.

"ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied" when attempting to log on to db, in three different applications. Error is observed in Toad, Crystal Reports, and MS ODBC Administrator connect test. However, same db credentials work in SQLPLUS.
Customer is attempting to log into reporting database hosted by my company, and using Cisco VPN client.
I am unable to reproduce this at this time, on my machine, using same credentials and VPN profile.
    Here is what we know/tried:
    1. PING HOSTNAME is successful on CUSTOMER’S machine
    2. TNSPING HOSTNAME is successful on CUSTOMER’S machine
    3. SQLPLUS is successful with USER2/(pw)@HOSTNAME.int on CUSTOMER’S machine
    4. We corrected timeout error on CUSTOMER’S side, by adding TCP.CONNECT_TIMEOUT=1000 in SQLNET.ORA (Also observed extremely slow performance on CUSTOMER SIDE)
    5. We corrected dns suffix problem on CUSTOMER’S side, observed in NSLOOKUP by
adding: IP ADDRESS AND HOSTNAME to Windows HOSTS file
and commenting out default suffix COMPANY.com from SQLNET.ORA file
    6. VPN configuration and VPN credentials are good.
We tested CUSTOMER’S VPN profle, CUSTOMER’S VPN credentials, and user USER2/(pw)@HOSTNAME on my machine (WIN7). I am able to maintain persistant connection to HOSTNAME for hours
    7. TNSNames entries are good. Able to connect to db in Toad, and Crystal, on CUSTOMER’S machine using different Oracle user, USER3 (only has grant connect). Unable to logon to db, with Oracle user USER1, or USER2. (USER2 was created to try to resolve login problem w USER1, but issue still exists.)
    8. CUSTOMER has Windows VISTA, does not have admin privileges, has Oracle 10 installed for client. Using same Cisco VPN client I have installed.
    9. Database on our servers is 11g
I suspect a configuration issue with CUSTOMER'S Vista machine, OR network, but not sure what to check.

  • 0kb on scan to network with Windows 8

     1. Product Name and Number: HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909g wireless; connected via ethernet through a switch/router
     2. Operating System installed (if applicable): Windows 8 Pro 32-bit
     3. Error message: no error message
     4. Any changes made to your system before the issue occurred: no changes made
    Dear Forum Members,
We have just up-graded one laptop to Windows 8 and are surprised to find that the scan to network function does no longer work properly. It produces pdf files with 0kb and nothing is scanned.
Using the HP solution centre, the laptop can however scan documents to the hard drive. All other functions of this printer still work as expected.
The scan to network function works with all existing Windows 7 Pro (32 & 64 bit) computers.
Does anybody have a solution ?
    Many thanks for your help.

  • HP OfficeJet 8620 Scan to Network Folder No Longer Works after Mac OS X 10.10Yosemite Upgrade

My scan to network folder function no longer works. When I look into it, I get an error message when I test the Network Folder setup saying, "Incorrect credentials. Check your username/password and try again."
The username and password are unchanged. I just bought this AIO and I kinda need this function to work. I hope that 10.10 didn't just disable this function.

I have followed your recomendation step by step but did not work. The message "Incorrect credentials. Check your username/password and try again." keeps showing once I test the credentials.
After several hours of work this is very upsetting. What other option are to set up using Mac Book Pro and Yosemithe?
    Thanks

  • Can't view hidden network folders on pc (server 2003)

Hi, sorry if this has been discussed before, but I can't find anything after searching forums/google for 2 days, on and off. I'm a born again newbie to Mac and I'm trying to view hidden folders on my company network. I am able to access the network and gain access to all of my network folders, but not the hidden ones, for example, hiddenfolder$. Is there anyway to do this? My anti Mac boss, doesn't want our work "exposed" to the company and insists they stay hidden, out of sight, out of snooping eyes. Thanks for your help.

I have found two mechanisms that are working for me.
    1) Connect first to a non-hidden share. Authenticate properly to the server. Now, try and connect to the hidden share. It appears that Leopard is failing to ask for authentication from me if I connect to the hidden share first. If I connect to the non-hidden share first, it remembers the authentication and works fine for me.
    2) The directions from this post work for me: http://groups.google.com/group/comp.sys.mac.misc/browse_thread/thread/fe43e0b718 3465a8
    Quoted:
Generally Finder -> Go -> Connect to Server...
    smb://workgroup;username:[email protected]/sharename
    Should work, where:
workgroup: Workgroup (optional if default is
    the correct workgroup)
username: Username (optional if you are prompted)
password: Password (optional if you are prompted)
    server.address: Server NetBIOS name
    -OR- domain.name.com
    -OR- IP address
sharename: Share name (optional if server lets you browse)
I have been able to omit the workgroup/domain in my case with success, and just supply the username and password.
My current theory is that is that Leopard is just not asking for "authentication", so the two mechanisms that work for me appear to force the authentication to happen in a different fasion.
Good luck. I hope it works for you.

  • HP LASERJET PRO 200 MFP M276NW - Can't scan to Network Folder

    Hi there,
The scan to email works but not the scan to Network Folder. I have tried a lot of things but I give up.
I have given permissions to all and after share a folder it appears as shared... but does not work.
The OS is Windows 7. Hope you can help me with this because I will use a lot the scan to shared folder option.
    Thanks in advance,
    Fran

    Hi skile88,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I understand you are unable to setup the scan to network.
I will be happy to help you.
It is usually a issue with the Network Path for the network folder created.
Create a folder anywhere on the computer.
Right click the folder and left click properties, select the Sharing tab, click the Share button, select who you want to share the folder with or everyone. On the same Sharing tab copy  the Network Path. (example \\envy1730\users \Envy\desktop\networkfolder
In the embedded web server for the printer go to the Scan tab, select network folder setup, paste in the path for the network folder. Go through the wizard.
If those steps don't work then follow steps 1, 2, 3, to resolve this issue to try and get the network folder and path.
Step one: Make sure that the computer user account is password protected.
1.Click the Windows icon, then click Control Panel.
2.Click User Accounts, then select the account you used to log into the    computer.
3.Click Change your Windows password, then find the user account you used to log into the computer.
•If the user account is password protected, continue to the next step.
•If the user account is not password protected, click Create a password for your account to create a password, and then continue to the next step.
Step two: Define the network location
1.Click the Windows icon, then click Control Panel.
    2.Click Network and Sharing Center.
3.In the View your active networks section, click Public network under your network name. The Set Network Location window opens.
4.Select Home Network or Work Network, then click Close.
Step three: Make sure that the network sharing and discovery options are correct
1.Open the Network and Sharing Center window.
2.Click Choose homegroup and sharing options.
3.In the Share libraries and printers section, select Documents.
4.In the Other homegroup actions section, click Change advanced sharing settings.
5.In the Advanced sharing settings window, make sure that the following network options are turned on:
    •Network discovery
    •File sharing
•Public folder sharing (read and write access)
    •Password protected sharing
    6.Click Save changes.
7.Your computer network is now successfully set to complete the Scan and Fax to Network. Folder or Digital Fax to Network Folder Wizard.
I believe that this will provide a resolution to your issue. Thank you.
Please click “Accept as Solution ” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

  • Error when starting Firefox 3.6. "Javascript Application error. Invalid username/password combination. If you continue to get this error, try entering your email address as your username." Any suggestions on what to look for to resolve this?

When starting Mozilla Firefox 3.6, I get an error window which opens up additionally overtop my browser windows stating:
    "Javascript Application"
    followed with :
"Invalid username/password combination. If you continue to get this error, try entering your email address as your username."
Obviously it is happening with one of my email addresses/usernames & password combinations of which I know the username for (which I choose not to post here) and I'm not sure where to begin looking for a resolution to this problem.

I was able to resolve this by disabling (under Tools - Add-ons) Yahoo! Mail Notifier
Hope this helps some of you also!
