MacBook Pro won't start after changing RAM cards; just beeps.
MacBook Pro will not start after changing RAM cards. It just beeps; then I force it to quit.
The three things that come to mind immediately are that the RAM card isn't seated properly (you should hear or feel a click when it is seated), the RAM is bad or marginal for that Mac model, or you didn't get the correct RAM type.

MacBook Pro Beeps Three Times on Start-Up
I recently got a used MacBook Pro from my uncle, so I would have a laptop for college. When I start it up (with a new Snow Leopard install disc), it beeps three times. I've looked this up to determine it's an issue with the RAM, so I bought a new 8GB stick from OWC, and installed it. It is still beeping three times on start-up.
When I boot without the start-up disc I just get a flashing folder with a question mark in it (no OS found, that's why I need the install disc).
It no longer has a service contract (from early 2011).
Help on why this thing is beeping at me would be appreciated.What kind of RAM is in the second memory chip slot?
Usually these are sets of two, and matching is best.
•Maximum Memory 16 GB (Actual) 8 GB (Apple)
•Memory Slots 2 - 204-pin PC-10600 (1333 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM
Rarely would anyone install only one RAM chip, and
when a computer such as yours can use say, 8GB a
credible path to 8-GB would be two 4-GB/matching.
Or if you had a good 2 or 4 GB chip, it could occupy
the second slot for a slightly uneven workable match.
{What were the two RAM chips removed from the MB/Pro?
...At this point, I'd venture to guess they probably are OK.}
And there can be an issue even with RAM of the same
spec numbers, some of them for a PC or iMac will not
do well in an Apple portable, though of similar spec.
However I get the impression there is a hardware failure
at some other point, to include a bad hard disk drive..
A diagnostic is recommended since most usual startup
sequences do not work; so troubleshooting isn't possible
in the sense that most users would be able to at home.
Also a retail Snow Leopard 10.6 DVD should be of a
newer version than the one your MacBook Pro shipped
with, since the original system discs would have been
one of two Snow Leopard versions. However being
unable to boot from the DVD and have it run the Mac
the issue may be a logic board failure, if not RAM.
•Original OS Mac OS X 10.6.6 (10J3210)
•Later OS Mac OS X 10.6.7 (10J4139)
{specs from http://mactracker.ca database}
Anyway, perhaps another volunteer contributor has
ideas that may work, so I have to go about other
obligations and have to go offline now.
PS: I just noticed your other post, and Recovery
could be helpful, but may rely on the Apple ID
of the previous owner if an older OS X 10.7 or
later was installed & still present in the MB/Pro.
Usually a purchased code was involved in a
new install of Lion, via the Mac App Store while
MacBook, etc was running in SL OS X10.6.8...
Good luck & happy computing!

I have tried everything, but still I can't locate the photos tab in iTunes...I have tried changing the resolution, started iTunes after connecting with the ipad2, nothing seems to work! please advise!
I am also providing you with a screenshot of what appears! I need photos on my iPad2
Message was edited by: anganaYou don't see it on the left-hand side of iTunes - you need to connect and select the iPad on the left-hand side, and then one of the tabs on the right-hand side that you use to select which content to sync to the iPad should be Photos : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236
You will need to select and sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go as only the most recent sync remains on the iPad, not including photos in a subsequent sync is how you delete them from it. -
An error occurred while attempting to change modules while starting up LR 4.1. New install on a new MBP first time trying to start up
Just a guess, but since everything is new, perhaps you have some sort of permissions problem.

Changing the Media Start point
So I just had a hard drive crash on me and I did not have back-ups of my footage. It's not to bad because I have back-ups of the project file I was working on. So all I was going to do is a Batch Capture to reconnect all of my clips. Only problem is the person I had capture the footage did not leave enough pre-roll when they did a capture now. So now when it tries to re-capture it says "Cannot locate specified timecode"
This is because there is not enough pro-roll on the clip to allow it to batch capture. When I look at the Media Start in the browser window for the clip it says it starts at 00:00:02:31. I need to change this to a later start so it does not try to roll the tape so far back. So.....
How do I change the Media Start Point???
ThanksOk, I am following you, I just need to make sure the clips in the edited timeline reconnect with the old master clip.
I could keep the old offline master clip and just make it reconnect to the new captured clip. But will this make all of my already edited clips in my sequence that are looking at the old master clip off by however many seconds I had to reset the in-point to get the tape re-captured?
Thanks for the tip on dragging clips to the L&C window, I did not know you could do that. -
I created an application and in that application if date is changed the application starts from splash screen on re-entering and if date is not changed and u re-enters the application then it open in page where u leaved.It works fine in our side (Timezone,kolkata ,india even for Timezone,slvaniya,USA) but our USA client is telling that on changing the date it not starts from start-up sequence.Can anyone plz suggest the reason for it.
This is the code which we have used.
//////////Return if it is first time for the day or not//////////////

BOOL result = YES;
NSDate *now = [[NSDate alloc] init]; /// represents the current time
NSCalendar *gregorian = [[NSCalendar alloc] initWithCalendarIdentifier:NSGregorianCalendar];
NSDateComponents *components = [gregorian components:(NSYearCalendarUnit | NSMonthCalendarUnit | NSDayCalendarUnit) fromDate: now];
NSDate *today = [gregorian dateFromComponents:components];
[now release];
[gregorian release];
NSDate *savedDate = [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] objectForKey:LAST_TIME_VISITED];

NSDate *date = [NSDate dateWithTimeIntervalSinceNow: (86400*nOfDays)];
NSCalendar *gregorian = [[NSCalendar alloc] initWithCalendarIdentifier:NSGregorianCalendar];
NSDateComponents *components = [gregorian components:(NSYearCalendarUnit | NSMonthCalendarUnit | NSDayCalendarUnit) fromDate: date];
NSDate *dateAtMidnight = [gregorian dateFromComponents:components];
[gregorian release];
NSLog(@"dateAtMidnight : %@",dateAtMidnight);
return dateAtMidnight;

Try posting in the developer forums to see if you can get some assistance,you'll have to be a registered developer for access though.

Can you please guide me in "changes in basic start dates in Prod Ord".
Actually,We are now starting to plan order creation as following parameters:
Schedulling type:- Capacity req only.
Finish date:- 31st(or last date of that month)
Start date:- 1st( of that month).
Is it possible to change the dates now for existing Production orders.
What will be its effects
It is a kind request to you,to please guide me and correct me if I am wrong .
ThanksRahul ,
yes you can change the date of existing production order , only difference it will make is you need to reschedule it and you may face soem capacity availability problem , as the start date for all the order will be same.

Hi
Can anyone point me to a bulletin? I can only find instructions for as far back as 2006.
Where Can I Find How to Change RAM in a 2005 iMac, 1.8 GHz PPC G5?
ThanksGiven that there are three different models of 1.8 GHz PPC G5's using PC3200 DDR 400MHz 184 Pin RAM (Size - 17"/20"; Year - 2004/2005; Model No. - A1058, A1076; Model ID - PowerMac8,1, PowerMac8,2; Order No. - M9843LL/A, M9250LL/A, M9249LL/A; EMC No.- 1989, 2008, 2055), you usually need to provide more information.
Info on how to find/gather this information:

How to change daemon (service) start order by systemd?
how to change daemon (service) start order by systemd? I want getty start after all other service have been started.
hoanglan87 wrote:If you do that, you'll not see services messages when booting.
That's the whole point. Once your system's working fine, you don't need to slow your boot down with those messages. You can always get them back by hitting the "e" key (with Grub) and editing the kernel boot line. Unless you've set your time-out to 0, which is probably not a good idea for most of us. Those service messages don't seem to be logged anywhere (although, there's lots of other logging you can enable). Anyway, we're thread-drifting here, sorry. -
