All right all you geniuses,
I would like to start to venture into making websites in
flash 8, I have been playing around with the software, i can't
figure out a thing, i have no professional training in flash or web
design, I have just taken a few classes in my free time. I am fine
with html/css based websites, and am starting to learn PHP. So...
could someone give me some pointers on how and where to start in
making a website in flash 8? Please feel free to email me at

I've read quite a few books over the years and have gotten
quite a bit
from reading the documentation that ships with Flash. Haven't
taken any
classes, though.

Well, Flash is quite a bit different from HTML, that's for
sure.

Actually, that's not really how these forums work. As a
general rule of
thumb, questions are both asked and answered here publicly.
The reason that
works out so well is that even onlookers, who may share may
of your own
questions, have a chance to learn from the experience of
others. Private
consultation is something different, and most people I know
tend to charge
for that.
To get started ... heck, I'd say hit that trusty F1 key and
start with
the documentation. In fact, there's a section entitled
"Getting Started
with Flash" that should kick-start the whole thing for you.
There are
sections that guide you if you have experience with other
programming
languages or if you don't; if you're a web designer or if you
aren't; if you
have a basic understaning of Flash but want to catch up; and
so on.
Work through a good helping of that and do some
experimentation. When
you come up with specific questions, be sure to post them to
one of these
forums. If you can narrow down your questions, you'll find a
handful of
helpful regulars here to answer as best they can.

I know you are impatient but better to wait until you get home and take your time thus eliminating mistakes.
Connect the iPhone to your computer and follow the onscreen instructions. If you connect the iPhone to another computer first, you will have to re authorize your home computer. You don't want to do that.

This is really unfortunate. I'm sorry that nothing works. I was going to mention holding down the power button and doing a force shutdown but you already did that. You might need to take it into the Apple store. I don't know if booting into safe mode would help. You would have to turn off the machine again, hit the start button and hold down the shift key after you hear the tone, but normally you would let go of the shift key when you see the apple logo and spining wheel. Maybe by holding down the shift key after you here the tone will cause the screen to come back on? The other option is to start up from the 'install disk' if your machine came with one. You would insert the disk, then shut down the computer, and hold down the C key right after hitting the start button.

This is a known bug, and has been for years. It occurs when Firefox is your default browser and some glitch (or program) changes that default. Thankfully, there's a fairly easy fix, though it does involve monkeying around in the Registry.
(Note: These instructions apply to Windows Vista and 7 only.)
1. Click Start, type regedit, and then press Enter.
2. Navigate to the following entry: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\FirefoxURL\shell\open\ddeexec
3. In the center pane, double-click the Default entry, then remove whatever value is there (it'll probably be a weird string of numbers and commas).
4. Click OK, then exit Regedit.
5. If Outlook and/or Firefox are open, close them, then restart them.

I am using windows 7 pro this issue has drove me crazy for some time, now finally it's fixed by doing the exact same steps as above, hope this works for everybody that is having this problem. I just had to share this with my fellow firefox users. :)

That;s really not enough free space... you can use a tools such as OmniDiskSweeper to find out where your large files reside and begin pruning (or copying to an external if they're files that you want to keep).
One thing is certain - if you're going to continue your current usage you're certainly going to need to install a larger boot drive.

There is no simple way. It has to be a math calculation.
There are several ways you can get the dates. First you have to know what day is January 1st and what day is december 31st for a particular year. Second you have to check whether the given year is a leap year or not. Based on the abvove information you should be able to find out what day is a particular date.

If you enjoy yard sale shopping you should also look for computer recyclers in your area. The ebay power supply Jeff pointed to is a good price and has free shipping. The free shipping makes it nice because you do not have to leave home to get it. On the otherhand, recyclers may have other accesories and spare parts all in one location. They will often match or beat the price of an online source. Happy hunting. That is a very capable computer for its day.

Try going to System Preferences>Security & Privacy and under the General tab...
...select "Anywhere". Note that you'll need to use an admin account to access these settings.

CS5 Trial Download -- Cannot get past 'starting up plug-ins'

i did some searches through the forum and didn't find any answers about this. I successfully downloaded the trial software for CS5 and extracted and installed it. After a system restart I tried to open the system, and the startup splash page runs, but when it gets to 'Starting up plug-ins...' i get an error saying the program ran into an unexpected error and had to close. I've uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times. Can someone please help?

It really depends on the circumstances. If you haven't powered your phone off yourself for quite some time, sometimes kinks can just happen and this sounds like one of them. Every so often on mine I will have to use this method but it is in the very minority of occasions.
