OK I had to pay in order to download Itunes!

Now I know you are going to give me all kinds of advice.
But check this out.
Early New Years Morning. (Friday)
I had a computer that I had done a format and restore on. And hadn't downloaded Itunes yet.
So I went to several different sites/web pages, including apples in order to download it.
EVERY link I clicked on took me to a place wanting me to "sign up", an pay in before I could get a link via email for itunes.,
After awhile I gave up an went ahead and did it. I thought maybe it was something new Itunes was requiring.
Obviously it must have been some sort of virus/spam something in my computer. I have since found out that Itunes is not charging now for there software.
I just wanted to know has this happend to anyone else???!!!

Trust me, Apple's well aware of these scam sites. But there's nothing they can do about them since they're beyond US jurisdiction. All Apple could do even if they could get hold of them in a legal way is to try and get them for trademark violation. If you read their fine print carefully, all they really say that you're buying is, as Chris said, some sort of "support", not the software itself.
And if you were getting redirected to a scam site when you manually entered http://www.apple.com, then you contracted some sort of virus/worm, and there's nothing Apple can do about that either, said virus developers also being almost certainly beyond US jurisdiction.
You'll just have to chalk it up to experience and hope your credit card company will refund your money.

My problems started when I upgraded my iPhone's software to iOS 7.
I have moved from Melbourne, VIC to Perth, WA and my PC is in Melbourne. I live with my Girlfriend, and so I mainly use her desktop Mac to connect to iTunes, so you could imagine my surprise when I tried to connect after the fresh update and discovered that my iPhone will no longer connect to iTunes.
It appears as though you need iTunes 11 to connect with a iOS 7 device, which I was not aware of prior to the update. I then learnt that in order to upgrade to iTunes 11 you need OS X 10.6.8 or later.
Now I'm not very proficient with apple products (I always had an iRiver and PC) so while trying to find the right product on the mac store, I got seriously frustrated. Every time I thought I found what I was looking for, I would click "View in the mac store" which would not take me to a buy or download link, rather literally just a showcase of the features. I went in circles for over a **** hour trying to navigate the store. Finally I found the page where I could actually buy the software and found out you can't simple just download the update, you have to order it, which took about a month before it arrived.
I've just installed it ONLY to find it it's 10.6.3! WHICH IS COMPLETELY USELESS TO ME.
I searched for hours, and was assured that Snow Leopard was exactly what I needed to download the new iTunes. I don't know what to do, I'm not like every other apple customer, I don't have a lot of money, and this phone was a gift so the money I used to buy this update actually sent me broke for 2 weeks. Not to mention it's not even for my own computer, I need to know how to get my money back, and WHAT VERSION I NEED TO PUT MUSIC ON THIS **** PHONE.
I'm sorry if I've come off like every other appleh8tr. I just hate when I'm forced to buy something that does a lot of things when I only need it for one specific purpose. I've already had to buy a new charger cable, and after all of this, my account is frozen because I can't pay for a $1 app I tried to download (unsuccessfully)

My advice is always and with Lion even more so to do a clean install, leave the old system as is, use a new drive and format it with Lion, and that way you make a clean break and clean out any carried apps and processes, which you can reinstall if Setup Assistant doesn't.
Expect to do some hardware upgrades as you go along, more RAM, maybe even higher quality, graphic cards, and start wtih a fresh system drive, a new drive for TimeMachine, and a drive to clone your system, clone your user volumes.

HT3258 to the new iphone 5. I had the message I need to download itunes 10.7 which I did. I now have a message saying I need Mac OS X

If you are currently running Mac OS X 10.6 through 10.6.7, you should be able to update to 10.6.8 through Software Update.
If you are currently running Mac OS X 10.5.x or earlier, you need to buy the upgrade to 10.6 and update it to 10.6.8. Apple still sells 10.6, but only if you call them on the phone, and you can only buy it on a disc. Also, you need to make sure your Mac is new enough to run 10.6.

No, those are different apps... The one for your Mac is the computer version, and looks different. Both are developed for their separate OS's: iOS and OSX.

I have purchased Good Reader for my iPhone and iPad. I had to reinstall it on my iPhone due to my previous iPhone being stolen, and had to pay for it again. When I went to use the Good Reader on my iPad it wasn't working properly. So I deleted it and tried to reinstall it and I had to repay for that one too when I already owned it. So this is $4.99 paid twice. May I have this looked into please?

A Free Mavericks Upgrade!!! I had to pay for mine.

What a surprise, I awoke this morning to an offer from Apple of a free upgrade to Mavericks. I purchased my copy of the Mavericks installer 4 months ago and now find it is being offered free? Will Apple refund my money? I dont think so, or is there a new OS waiting in the wings?

As the others have said, Mavericks upgrades have always been free.
I can offer two guesses as to why you were charged:
1. You said: "I purchased my copy of the Mavericks installer ..." I wonder if you bought a standalone installer from some third party. You did not have to do that.
2. You might have started with a system that predated OS X 10.6.8 and had to pay to upgrade to at least that level.
