im trying to download itunes but everytime it gets to the point of starting sevice service: apple moble device it stop     then the message
service "Apple mobile device" (Apple mobile device) failed to start.
Verify you have sufficiant privileges to start system service.
   What do i do please help

So my dumb laptop i have not had this laptop no more than a crazy month (sorry im upset trying not to curse) anywho so i turn off the computer (dumb thing froze) ended up turning it back on and guess what dumb thing came on to Windows Boot manager and will not turn on took out battery did it again clicked enter did it again called toshiba tech support did not help wanted to actually wipe my computer so i said no because i have microsoft on here that was free for me n i have no key whatever he said to get it back and that was a long process to get it so i was crushed if you could help me to get my computer on i will appreciate the help thanks

I was updating to the IOS 8 thru ITunes on my 4S when it came unplugged from the computer (dumb dog). Now the phone just has an image of plugging in to the ITunes icon and when I plug it in it says its in recovery mode and needs to be restored to original settings and I will lose all of my contacts/photos/etc. Is there a way to reverse this and just get my 'old' phone back with all of my stuff? I only have the free ICloud storage so I know most of my stuff will be lost. Yes I know..,hindsight is 20/20 on buying the backup. Help please!

In short. No, you cannot unsync. If you had a back up from your old iPhone you cand restore from a back up.
In iTunes go to Edit > Preferences > Devices > and select the latest back up.
Before you synced your phone did you have it set up with the PhotoStream or iCloud? The pictures would be saved there. Or if you had them sync to a file on your computer.

Ipod won't sync...files/directory corrupted..

I have been trying to sync my Ipod with Itunes and I keep getting an error message that says basically it can't sync because the files or directory has become corrupted and unreadable.
Searching other sites I see some mention of this issue for others, and suggestions that the issue is likely due to files being "locked" in the directory and once "unlocked" the problem goes away.
My issue is I am pretty computer dumb when it comes to locating directories and knowing what to look for and do once I am there. Also, the "fixes" I've read thus far are for folks running a Mac..I have a PC...any fixes for a PC?
Has anyone had experience with this Ipod issue, and can someone please explain to me in step-by-step directions how to get to the directory so I can look for these "locked" files?? Then what to do with them?

Have you connected any new USB devices recently? Has the drive letter of the external drive been changed? Have you checked the external drive for errors? Does the problem persist if you power off the computer, then restart with the iPod & your external drive as the only USB devices?

Adobe reader 8 / acrobat

I have windows xp. I am trying to open a pdf file that was sent to me. I have adobe reader 8. I was told by my instructor I need acrobat to open it. Doesn't adober reader 8 have acrobat or do I need something else? I am Computer DUMB!! Please help me!!!!

I've had trouble opening a couple of PDF files, one that was sent to me via email (twice!) and one that I downloaded off a website. I just installed Adobe 9 and both times I get the message:
"Adobe Reader could not open *file name* because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded.)
Any suggestions? I'm computer literate but know NOTHING about programming.

After 3.0.1 upgrade Music takes 1-2 min before playing each song

Both of my Apple TVs are doing the same thing. Prior to the upgrade everything was working fine.
I have everything in my itunes (music, movies, tv shows). All of them are on my drobo which I've tried hard wired and using my drobo share.
Movies and TV Shows play fine and only take a few seconds to load.
Music *****, for some reason it takes a long time for the song to start playing and if I choose a playlist each new song it takes 1-2 minutes before it starts playing.
Both Apple TV's stream from my iTunes, it has to be something with the update because it worked fine before.

Please dont take this the wrong way, but from a troubleshooting stand point that was really awful suggestion. Being I have two Apple TVs and considering I have a drobo on a raid system and use it every day. The only thing that changed was the Apple TV update which would be the cause the of the problem. Heck even my GF noticed it before me because she plays music all the time and shes computer dumb.
I'm also having the issues where after sleep mode it is doing dumb things like cant find my library or wont load. I'll have to reboot it, and sometimes like yesterday I was listening to radio channels and the **** thing hug and rebooted. Its been doing it alot both of them.
To be frank I'm ****** off at Apple products lately, I guess because their selling more their quaility has dropped. My 15in macbook had less problems than my Unibody 17 in went in for repairs, my parents older iMacs are great, but my brothers new 13 in uni had to go in for repair as well. Both my apple TVs are acting up now too.
**** the **** new mac mini still doesnt have HDMI out, which is just stupid considering the mini-dvi doesnt do audio out and Apple has always been about smart and less cable designs, just seems dumb in my opinion.

Finding the "best" application for backing up

Any advice for a computer illiterate who needs to find the best app to use for backing up to a portable external drive.
I have seen many mentioned. I need a user-friendly, cheap, reliable one (for tiger). I am computer dumb, so please understand if I have to look up computer terms.

I use SuperDuper on our home systems, and my kids use it on their systems, too. I would recommend it as a top notch backup program. As it's preparing to backup or restore, It explains what the program is going to do in non-technical terms. While you can use it for free, paying the fee unlocks features that make it an even better program. For example, the free version backs up the entire disk. The 'unlocked' version gives you options, for example, to back up only those files that have changed since the last backup, which makes for a much quicker backup.

Download folder not working, how do I fix this?

I am computer-dumb.
But I use one, and need to figure this problem out.
When I open an email that has a word attachment or something, I used to just click on it, and my downloads folder would appear and I would open the document from the downloads folder.
Now, when I click the attachment, the download folder appears, and the bar that shows downloading occuring, flickers on the folder for about 2 seconds, and then disappears. THe download folder shows nothing.
If I dig through my finder application, I can find the attachment that I want, and open it from there, but this takes too long.
How can I fix this download folder problem?

You could try this:
Control-click the attachment, and select the Open Attachment option to view it.
You can also drag the attachment to your Desktop and then open it.

Adding attachments to e-mails pictures

I'm having a problem with adding attachments to my e-mails like pictures,I click on the paper clip ,pick my pictures and click to download but it just keeps spinning and doesn't download the pictures,.It did about a month ago ,it worked but now it doesn't I think my husband did something clicked on something and now it won't work. can someone tell me what to do to be able to download pictures to my e-mails . Even if I have to change the reader,thing,I have Foxit Reader now,I think .I'm will to change anything to be able to download pictures. I know nothing about computers so I really need help here. If I understand correctly, you want to attach a photo to an e-mail as opposed to downloading one from an e-mail. Is that correct? If not, let me know.
Are you using a web browser to use your e-mail? If so, what web browser are you using (e.g. Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, etc.)?
At the top of the program, do you get a message about it not responding? This is usually in the title bar of the program if it is present.
Do you get any error messages? If so, what are they?
Approximately, how large is the photo? If it's a large photo, it may be too large or might be taking too long to attach it. The size can be found by going to the photo on the PC, right-clicking the photo, and selecting properties.
What is the product number?
NOTE: Do NOT provide the serial number.
Who is the e-mail provider (@yahoo.com, @gmail.com, etc.)? Have you tried contacting them to verify the issue isn't on their side?

Router reset?

I got a letter about resetting my router password.
Very interesting e-mail they sent too.
WHAT is a router? And how do I give it a password or does it already have one?
I'm extremely ignorant about computers. I am a recent arrival on line.
I have DSL and a 6100G
Dell computer.
They didn't tell me what a router is or where.
Anybody know?
If someone knew how to give it a password that would be wonderful.
How could I tell if it came with a password?
Of if it came with a strong password or a weak password if so?
Mostly, WHAT is a router that needs a tough password because of security concerns(the e-mail says).

The little box that connects your computer to the phone line (DSL) is the router. If you open a browser on your PC and type the following URL into the address bar: http://192.168.1.1
You will find your router will answer. If a password has not yet been set, they'll be a dialog you can go thru to configure a userid and password (choose a good complicate password and write it down somewhere and stick it with your DSL information). You won't need the userid/password during the course of normal operations, just if you need to do some advanced configuration -- which if you're new at this, you really shouldn't need to be doing.
If there's already a password set, follow the link in the message from verizon and they'll walk you thru what you need to do.

Lightroom trial won't install-error 1

Trying to download/install Lightroom 4 trial. Terrible with computers but it looks like it downloads but when I go to open the installer it says "Operation could not be completed. (com.apple.installer.pagecontroller error-1)" Help please!

Is there a difference between the Intel Core 2 Duo & the Intel Core Duo?

I am looking to buy a new laptop, and I wanted to know if there is a big or major difference between the Intel Core 2 Duo processor, compared to the Intel Core Duo.
I currently have a powerbook G4 and it has a 1.67 GHz PowerPC G2 Processor, which I have noticed isn't that great, I can't download the new snow leopard software update, nor watch movies from Netflex and other stuff like that. Its pretty annoying, so that is why I was asking about the difference between the other two processors, I want to know if it doesn't matter or which one is the best before I buy.
I'm pretty computer dumb when it comes to this stuff that's why I'm asking.

Core 2 Duo processors are newer and more powerful (and thus faster) than Core Duos. Apple's current notebook computers all use Core 2 Duos, so if you buy new, that's what you'll get. The earliest MacBooks and MacBook Pros had Core Duos in them, but the last of those models was discontinued late in 2006.
