OK; Now I have no alerts of messages, text, etc.

Unfortunately, my problem I posted the other day has progressed. (I was not receiving the audible alert of messages while in outlook). Now the problem/issue has escalated to include all my media... text, phone ringing, the "click" when u power on/off the Iphone; basically, nothing! I have reset everything, turned on/off... still same result. Can anyone help? Might be time to call Apple Care (such fun).

Depending on what kind of computer you have, you're gonna need to put that backup in the appropriate folder or itunes is not gonna be able to see it for you to use.

The same thing happened with me. I was updating my husband's iPhone 3GS to iOS 5, and it lost his calendars and contacts. When I did the update, I let it do a sync and backup first.
Since that time, I tried to do a restore, and it only saw a back up from October, 2010. Where are backups stored? Are they invisible files on the mac? His laptop is a 13" macbook running 10.6.8.

Couple of things to check here, firstly is your volume turned all the way down, obvious I know but worth checking.
If you go to the Settings>Sounds screen and adjust the volume do you hear anything while moving the volume control?

If you're able to boot, launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID and that ID is a previous version of your current ID, not an entirely different one.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details and some other circumstances.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device. It may take a short while to remove the account.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

Have lost Contacts and messages after bad upgrade, anyone had the same?

Took most of the day to install the new software upgrade, it kept failing. Now I have no contacts or messages. Has anyone else had the same problem or know how to fix? there is a terrible lag now too

Yep I lost all my contacts and texts. I tried to restore but the only option to restore from was the latest backup which included having no contacts and text. You would think they could offer the last 5 or so should you need to restore a reliable version.
I've talked to support and they said if it wasn't back up by Outlook or Google then it's gone. I got all my music, videos, tv shows, apps, and pictures. No contact or text. Unfortnately, some dropped the ball on this risk. Hopefully they will learn and do better next time.
One piece of encouragement, after having no texts, one came in yesterday morning. I read it and responded and when I went to the main text areas they had all reappeared. Unfortunately, since there are no contact names, I am looking at numbers which are unfamiliar to me. But it's something to dig in to. The prompt to connect to iTunes is automatic, but not the restore process. You must manually select restore. There is no automatic restore.

Unless your contacts were synced with a supported address book app on your computer as designed and intended and your contacts were included with your computer's backup, or unless your contacts are available online with a free Apple iCloud account, with a free Yahoo account, or with a free Gmail account with all providing the ability to sync contacts over the air, your contacts are gone.

The alert message is just telling you that a specific feature won't use the GPU. This message is innocuous. It only means that the processing of one specific, obsolete feature will use the CPU, not the GPU.
Are you saying that After Effects won't start or open your project?
