If this does not work, try to delete the ipod software file located in C:[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates to make iTunes download a new copy when you connect in recovery mode. Maybe the file stored on your PC is damaged.
Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw)
iTunes uses "ipsw" files to restore your iPod or iPhone. If those files are unusable, then try deleting them, renaming them, or moving the file to a different directory. This will cause iTunes to download a new copy of the IPSW. When a restore issue is specific to a user, it is likely due to an unusable .ipsw file. If removing the .ipsw file does not resolve a user-specific restore issue, then the issue is caused by other user-specific security software settings or iTunes preferences. What does this component do? ipod nano 1g

Hi,
i've had to disassemble my iPod nano 1G at some point because it came into contact with water.
I cleaned it up and it worked fine aside from the adhesive on some of the tapes on the inside being less sticky.
The circled component in the picture came off and I glued it back on. After replacing the battery yesterday I found that the same component lay on my carpet this morning, yet the iPod has been working without flaws thus far. So I'm wondering: What does this thing actually do and should I bother putting it back in?
Also, it seems that not all 1G iPods have this component. The component itself seems to be a type of electric jumper.
I'm aware that this is not the most critical issue. I'm curious though, so if anyone could provide some info on the purpose (or respectively the effect of the removal) of this component I'd very much appreciate it. =)

All I see is a little gray circle with an X to the right.
Click on your ipod's name in the source list on the left, and it might tell you the sync status instead of the download status.
Frankly, itunes is so darn fussy, I can't say I've downloaded and synced an ipod at the same time.

It sounds like you are trying to change your login in the Tunes store through iTunes on your computer, which you can only do once in 90 days, which you don't need to do for this.

When you say you just purchased Formscentral exactly what do you mean? Formscentral has not been sold as a stand alone product in a while due to the decision to close the service. If you got Formscentral as part of a Acrobat subscription then you need to know that that part of the subscription will go away partially in June and fully in July. If you have indeed managed to purchase Formscentral standalone recently can you please give me the information about your purchase such as the date of purchase and link to the site from which you purchased. Refunds are available to customers who are not able to use the service though their contract period.

Did you try to charge it using the adapter or your computer?
If you can, let it charge for about 15min, then connect in recovery mode, described in this article:

If it's a one-time "glitch," you can try restarting your computer with the iPod still connected. Try ejecting again after the restart.
If the problem recurs, you may have a process running (other than iTunes) that is accessing the iPod's storage. When connected, the iPod's "disk" is like other mounted volumes. This process may be some type of utility that continously monitors your mounted volumes for security reasons, such as to prevent access by malware.
If you know of such a program that you have running in the background, there may be a setting to exclude your iPod's disk.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I also met this issue a few days ago and I finally find out how to transfer music from iPod to computer:
1. Plug your iPod in and wait for the computer to recognize it.
2. Open up 'My Computer' and under 'Devices With Removable Storage', double click and open apple iPod.
3. Click on 'Tools' at the top of the window and drag down to 'Folder Options'.
4. Under the 'View' tab, find the subfolder called 'Hidden files and folders'.
5. Select the option 'Show hidden files and folders'.
6. Click 'OK'.
