I Have Tried Almost Everthing! I Open Itunes Then I Put My Ipod ((&)) USB Cord Into The Computer And It Sats USB Not Reconized..!! I Just Dont Get It Help..??

I need some assistance with downloading the new iOS 5 software for my iPod touch 4th generation (32GB). Once connected, my iTunes says that a newer version is available and when I click on "update," the standard boxes appear and when i click on "download and update," it appears to download just as expected, but after a few minutes, an error box pops up and says that my "network connection timed out" and to "try again later"...
I have tried to get around this in every which way possible, but the same error box pops up each time. I have checked AND double checked my network and its connections and I am 100 percent sure they are stable. I have downloaded the latest version of iTunes (10.5). I even re-installed it, just in case. I have also tried clicking the "download only" option instead of "download and update"... No different.
In previous discussions, I have inferred that having my media on an external hard drive may cause some issues...? If this is the case, please note that all my media is on an external hard drive that connects to my computer via USB.
I am looking for any and all advice to help resolve this issue as the my warrenty has expired and I do not want to pay for Apple Support. : ) plus, iOS 5 looks so cool and I really really want it!!!!

I have a iPod touch 3rd generation and it will not turn on or charge.

This iPod, when ever I turn it on all I get is the apple logo. Then about five minuts later, it tells me to plug it up, you know, the low battery simbole. But the kicker is that it is always pluged up when it is doing this! Can you tell me how to restor this iPod? I've tried force recovery but I discontinued it from my account. I've heard if you plug up to a computer it will charge better, didn't work. Thanks for helping me. Cameron44

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

After reviewing your post, the iPod is not recognized in iTunes. A frustrating situation to be sure. You haven't mentioned what OS the computer you are using uses. You can choose what article to use either OS X or Windows from this quoted section.

The way I did it was I got the free app sync:stream from the App Store and then added my ipod to my ps3's Bluetooth devices. Then went to audio settings and set output and input to 'Skaggs iPod' you then open the app and it will be listed under music as a media service. You then go to all tracks and click copy (press triangle) it will then begin to copy all of your songs onto your ps3 via Bluetooth. I haven't tried but I assume the same can be done with photos. iOS6 problems aplenty ....not sure if the link I inserted is working or not, but the issue is a lot more prevalent - the issue being that what shows up & plays in iTunes after the iOS6 update is not what shows up (& plays) on the device itself. This may go beyond just the iPod Touch as well.
In my case I can see & play both audio & video files in my Playlist through iTunes, but can only see the Playlists on the iPod Touch with ALL of them being empty. Syncing numerous times no help. Contacting Apple Tech. Support no help - they suggested downloading my Purchases from the iTunes Store - waste of time, did not make a difference. It is clear Apple needs to release a fix to OS6.

If this is the problem following the instruction. Frequently it is a hardware problem.
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
Otherwise try (assuming that other devices see your network)
- A reset. Nothing wil be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power of and then back on your router.
- Reset network settings: Settings>Genral>Reset>Reset Network Settings

I'm guessing you have Itunes on your computer, So when you go to plug your ipod touch in and itunes opens if it is syncing to your computer it will come up with "Syncing" and whatever the name of your ipod is. Click the (x) on the right hand side and it should stop the sync. After you have stopped the computer syncing you now have to click on the icon that has your ipod connected (so if it is called Ipodtouch click on that) then it should say in the info section IOs update or something like that and click on that. This will update your ipod touch to the latest IOs without syncing and/or deleting your apps. Once you have updated the IOs the apps will be synced with your computer automatically.

You can connect to any computer and do it but it is a lot of work. When you restore after following the following instructions and iPod will also be updated.
