Ok. so I updated to iOS 5. Downloaded it from iTunes and all. But in the middle of installing the iOS, i fell asleep. not knowing my computer was at a low battery charge my computer shut down. I did a DFU already but i'm not sure if it the os is complete.

Restore to factory settings. That will use the latest iOS and then restore from a backup.
Never, never, never attempt an update/upgrade on any portable computer device without plugging it into its AC charger.

You can try a couple of different things. First - restart the iPod and see if the songs will play.
Restart the iPod by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If that doesn't help - delete the songs and then download them again. You can download purchased music again at no charge as long as you use the same Apple ID that you bought them with originally and as long as you live in one of these countries.
Previously purchased music is only available through iTunes in the Cloud in Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, France, Germany, Guatemala, Honduras, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, United States, and Venezuela.
If you are running iOS 5 on the iPod - You can delete songs by swiping across the song in list view to bring up a red delete button. Tap the button to delete the songs. Download the songs again in the purchased tab in iTunes.

I've tried http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 and other suggestions first, which turned out unrelated.
I've finally fixed the issue by plugging the cable in the USB 3 ports in the back of PC instead of the ports in the front, the iTunes saw the phohe and the recovery started automatically.
In the hindsight, I realized that the either the required prerequisite iTunes 11.1.5.5 update installed a USB driver incompatible with my PC's front side USB ports that I always used for my iPhone syncing prior or it was always
incompatible, but worked in all modes except the recovery.

Morning Al My issue has since been resolved after some advice from a friend. It was simple, push the optical cables in firmly until they click, however mine didnt click but there was definatley room for them to be pushed in further as if they are loose they "leak". in addition to this on the TV settings, make sure that the TV speakers are turned off

Hello apple support community! I'm trying to download my music purchases from iTunes onto my old Mac Mini. It runs OS 10.4.11 and doesn't have the capacity to upgrade to a newer OS. When I ask iTunes to check for available downloads, it says there are none. I have tried updating the iTunes software (version 9.0.2) but it can't connect to the server, even though I am on a wireless network. I've tried using home sharing and file sharing with my macbook air, but neither are working. Grateful for any suggestions!! Well, the Import/Export instructions make it seem as if the two computers should be able to communicate this file thru wifi, but that's the linkage I can't seem tocreate with Import/Export. Should I instead email a copy to myself (thats what applecare suggested)? Copy it to and from a thumb drive? But then place the file where? And the article was helpful, but should I be trying to move the Library file or the Library.xml file (as iTunes Help suggests)? Sorry to be so clueless about it...I suppose I buy Apple in the hopes of not having to think about this stuff, which approach seems not to be serving me well. Thanks again for your time!

I have downloaded multiple purchased (not rented) movies on my computer from the iTunes store and done multiple "syncing" sessions. NONE of my purchased movies are in my iPad. Yes, I checked videos, iTunes and every other app on my iPad but they are not there. I have updated my iTunes on both my computer and iPad, as well as updated my iPad. I have downloaded songs, TV Shows and apps as well and all these are on my iPad. Why are my movies missing? Please, please, please help!

Assuming that you are signed into the correct account on the iPad - the same account that you bought the movies with
You don't have restrictions enabled on the iPad in Settings>General>Restrictions (did you check this?)
The movies are in the correct format for the iPad (did you try launching iTunes, selecting one of the movies and then go to Advanced>Create iPad or Apple TV Version)
You have selected each of the movies to sync in the moives tab and have also checked the Sync Movies Heading
One other "trick" that I have read about is to download a free podcast, start playing the podcast, stop the podcast and then see if the movies are in the videos app.

I get an update server error message when i try to update my phone. I've uninstalled iTunes and all related software in the proper order and then reinstalled with security software disabled. no what?

I could use some help. Apple support walked me through the uninstall and reinstall of all iTunes and Apple files in the proper order with my security software disabled. I still get the following message:
"The iPhone software update server could not be contacted. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later."
Any ideas? I'm on a Dell i5 Core with Windows 7.

Yes it would, possibly even brick it.
Have successfully connected my ipod nano with iTunes so looks like the device driver is working.
Can I use my ipod nano USB connector to check?
It is not much help to you, since the device that you need still not recognized.
Anyway looks like I may have to swallow the loss of data. Have set-up a call for tomorrow with Apple support so will wait until after this before doing the factory restore!
