and btw - I sent pages docs/folders, with imported figures and tables (thanks Yvan, for being so knowledgeable and sharing. I learned a lot from reading your replies) from Eudora to Eudora. They opened just fine although the names were somewhat garbled...sent them to gmail and useless, sent them to entourage and only the figs and tables arrived!!)
so if one can't email pages 'docs', can one pass them by IM? transfer them via dot-mac? Some experimentation is required. I'll let you know.
Maybe I'm being picky, but does anyone else think this is somewhat limiting if Pages is to seriously eat into the Word market, even allowing that it isn't Word?
I just love it though. Almost as much as my beloved Appleworks, whose drawing feature I use almost everyday.

click a Pages document's icon while pressing the ctrl key.
You will get a contextual menu.
One of this menu item is entitled "Afficher le contenu du Paquet" (something like "Show Package's content" in English)

Nothing has been converted. You first need to convince yourself of this.
Start Adobe Reader (or Adobe Acrobat, if you have it). Use Open from the File menu. Pick one of your PDF files. Does it open OK? If not, what happens?

If you are attempting to share to both at the same time, you can't.
Are you selecting the second AppleTV in home sharing options on the MBP. Are all devices signed in for Home Sharing with the same AppleID?

First, what is the formatting of the external hard drive? It should be OS X Extended (journaled). You can determine it by selecting the EHD and typing Command + i.

If it isn't formatted to that you should move the library off of it and reformat.
The "!" is an indication that the file path to the original file has been broken So make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.

Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

The master password protects access to your passwords, not your mail or profile folder. Set up separate operating system accounts for each of your friends.

I have to zip pdf files to email them to someone with a PC. The problem is they aren't smaller after zipping and I can't email them. I tried adjusting the Quartz filter to the Reduce file size. Now they're smaller, but the recipient can't read them. Help!

I tried zipping them in Win 7 (which I use via Parallels 7) and sending them to the Finder to email.
But lately nothing is reduced. I tried choosing the Reduce File Size option in the Quartz Filter when I save the doc. The file size was reduced. However, the recipient could not read the file. Everything was blurry.

I am having some PDF sizing issues also, I am a BETA tester for TurboCAD Mac, and with the usage of (public) version 5, I have had some scaling issues. I have had (auto sent) 15 plus crash reports, (available as text) and had posted my scenario within the "lion- problems so far" article, so not to use up extra bandwith- or whatever- there are pictures there. I was not able to upload a PDF on site, and the staff @ Turbo CAd is working on it also. this is Lion specific new update, as I have posted many large format PDF's

A strange one-can recieve email, but not send

Okay, I have a powerbook G4 with an airport (graphite) and a siemens wireless gateway/modem provided by T**us
my mom's ISP. She can get on the internet okay (providing the signal doesn't get dropped, which it does) and downloads are fine, and she can recieve email, but not send. I have tried changing the smtp port to 587 from 25. Nothing from the activity monitor and no "whoosh". I have also tried setting up a new account (pop3) which the connection
doctor says is okay for sending and recieving. Any suggestions before I spend an hour or so with T**us' tech support
which for Macs isn't that good--frankly, I think the airport needs to be out of the picture---maybe it's fighting with the gateway??? :confused:

Hi John: Did you get the "Send" issue figured out with your computer? If not, here are some things to check out. It sounds like you are using Telus. If so the settings for incoming and outgoing servers is as follows: Incoming > "pop.telus.net" Outgoing > "smtp.telus.net". Server port is 25, with no SSL enabled.

My parents have a older Dell with IE loaded. Email works so the internet connection is fine. I want to load Firefox but can't get into the web to it. Can the Firefox browser be emailed and loaded from there? Or can I copy mine to a disk - how can I be sure I have all the right files to run the download?

Try using the Add-on Compatibility Reporter extension to "force" compatibility of that add-on.

You really need to contact the developer of that Burke's Law add-on and find out why they can't keep that add-on up-to-date with the new Firefox versions. IMO, if they are using a web browser as the interface for their product and are charging you for that service, they have an obligation to their customer's to keep their stuff fixed for the 2nd most used browser in the world.

You will have to go via your computer's iTunes. Connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases in iTunes (that should copy epubs and/or PDFs that are in the iBooks app, not just actual ibooks), and if using a Mac with Mavericks or Yosemite on it then do File > Move Books From iTunes in its iBooks app. You can then email them or add them to Dropbox from your computer.

IMHO the best solutiopn is to use Apple mail as hyour e-mail client - set it in the iPhoto preferences

Did you select Australia? Your page appears as the US. You can should be able to start a chat from your location. You can also select the Contact Us link at the bottom right of every page here. Apple's official advice is here... HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created. If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
