Ok. This is starting to get annoying.

I have had my silver 80gb iPod Classic for quite awhile now and I have LOVED it. It's treated me extremely well. I've never once had a problem getting music onto it, editing anything on it, absolutely no problems what-so-ever.
Until recently.
I plugged my iPod into my laptop the other day and was editing music when out of nowhere, my iTunes said that it could not read the disk. I thought that was strange, so I went in to my taskbar and manually ejected it (iTunes froze when I attempted to eject and I had to close iTunes using Task Manager). It ejected normally so I unplugged it, thinking nothing of the screen...until I actually LOOKED and it said, "NO MUSIC"
I had just spent an hour editing and putting music on my iPod, in addition to already having 13,000 songs from a previous library. How in the world could there be no music on it? So I plugged it back in and iTunes told me that I needed to restore it to factory settings because it could not be read.
So, I re-installed iTunes.
I got the same problem once again...so I manually ejected it again and scrolled through the entire menu, praying that it was just a malfunction that could be solved with some turning on and off. No dice. I held my breath and hit the restore button, praying again, that it would be a fairly easy fix.
I was able to restore the iPod and put it back to the original settings, eject it, set all the settings, plug it back in and start to try and restore what I could of playlists and such in iTunes.
Then, I started putting music back on it. Slowly. I had already put about 200 songs on it and had ejected it just to make sure the music was getting where it was supposed to go. I rested it for a little bit, hoping that maybe it just needed some cool down time. When I plugged it back in, it was fine, it went about loading my library fine....then iTunes froze and told me there was an error with my iPod again. So once again, I manually ejected it and the message "NO MUSIC" was on the side panel.
I know it's not an ejection problem. I ALWAYS eject it from the taskbar or iTunes. I never yank it out of the USB without shutting it down...although I have wanted to...especially within the last few days.
There's no problem with iTunes. It works just fine if my iPod isn't within a 10 foot radius of my laptop. I can get it plugged in and start loading songs on it just fine at first, but then at some point, an error occurs and it wipes my entire iPod. I virus scanned my computer with three different programs, I re-installed iTunes, I (again) restored my iPod to factory settings...nothing is working!
I've plugged it in to three different computers. It freezes and does it to all three. I finally had it working tonight, I got over 2000 songs on it and then when I plugged it into this laptop and uploaded another 1000 songs, it decided to freeze on a random song and when I unplugged it, it said "NO MUSIC." I looked at the properties and the songs aren't hidden...they're GONE. I've never had this kind of problem with it on any computer I've ever plugged it into. Ever!
I'm at my wits end here. I'm seriously tempted to throw it in the trash if it doesn't start working correctly.

*Check iPod hard-drive for errors*
Hold Select+Menu on the iPod for about 6 seconds until it resets, then hold Select+Play as soon as the Apple logo appears, again for about 6 seconds to put the machine in disk mode. Open iTunes and in the Sync tab of the preferences menu check *Disable automatic syncing of all iPhones & iPods*. Now connect your iPod to the computer, wait until it connects, then close iTunes. Browse *My Computer* and right-click on the drive for the iPod, click Properties, then click Tools. Under Error-checking, click *Check Now*. Under Check disk options, select *Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors* (Optional - takes ages but a good idea if you've reason to suspect physical damage). Click Start. Mac users should run *Disk Utility / Repair Disk* for the equivalent process. This should find and correct any errors in the logical & physical structures of your iPod's hard drive. Once these have been fixed you can reset the iPod (hold Menu+Select ) and should stand a better chance of a successful restore.
And if that still doesn't help try Erase your iPod - The Super Fix for most iPod Problems. Basically a low level format of the iPod’s hard drive to get around whatever problems are stopping iTunes from playing nicely with it.
Once you've restored your iPod don't rush to dump all the data back exactly as it was before. Complex smart playlists can sometimes trigger constant reboots or dumping of the iPod's library. In addition, larger transfers can fail leaving data in an inconsistent state. Try this technique for populating the iPod in stages.
*Break up large transfers*
In iTunes select the menu item *File... New Smart Playlist*. Change the first drop-down box to Playlist, the next to is and the next to Music. Tick against *Limit to*, type in say 10, then change the drop-down to GB, and set the last drop-down to artist. When you click OK you can enter a name for the playlist, e.g. Transfer. Now sync this playlist to your iPod rather than your entire library. When the sync is complete modify the rule ( *File... Edit playlist* ) to increase the size by your chosen amount, then sync and repeat. You can experiment with different size increments, if it doesn't work just choose something a bit smaller until it works each time. Before long you should have all your music on your iPod. Once that's done you can move on to other media such as podcasts, videos, photos, playlists etc.

    Because, every time that you hide (click the red x or cmd h) and you re-open the window, all the category names (artist, album, play count, etc.) look like an alien was trying to translate them. I can't read them and my iTunes looks like an alpha build of a ****** piece of software... not a high quality mac product. This is especially annoying since a) I use expose' all the time and don't want more windows open at once than I have to, and b) I use sizzling keys to control the simple things in iTunes and so only need to have the window open to fuss with occasionally. So when I do need it open, I appreciate it when it doesn't look like ***.
    It looks fine when I first launch and when I re-launch. Its just after its been hidden that it feels like it can wash its makeup off.

    I've had my black 5Gb Zen Micro over 2 years, used nearly daily and zero problems.
    I bought a red 8Gb Zen MicroPhoto last summer, for the car. Again, plugged it in, loaded a bunch of music, never looked back. Another daily player, and all it's done is play music flawlessly.
    I also bought a silver 52Mb MuVo TX FM last summer for outdoor stuff and it did have one problem around December, but re-loading the firmware took maybe 5 minutes and it's been perfect ever since.
    At least in my experience, Creative players have been trouble free and good value.
    My brother got an iPod Shuffle given to him for a Christmas present and it locked up the first day. He ended up selling it and buying a Gb Zen Nano Plus.

    When the prompt pops up next time you start iPhoto select Learn more. Then click on iPhoto preferences and select the Accounts tab. Delete your MM account and the quit iPhoto. Next time you open iPhoto the problem should be eliminated.

    ok, i'm starting to get agitated with this.
    i cannot install windows XP, 2003, OR Longhorn on my machine.
    right now, i have the following setup:
    msi 865pe neo2 motherboard
    intel p4 3.2ghz w/HT (factory HS/Fan currently)
    1 dimm of PC3200 crucial DDR400
    30GB maxtor HD plugged into primary IDE
    pioneer dvd/cd drive as sencondary IDE
    alps 3.5" floppy drive
    antec true blue 480wt PSU
    i do the following:
    format with maxtor cd
    boot from OS cd
    start setup, reboot, continue
    the farthest i can get is 'registering components/completing installation' i either get a blue screen stop error which isnt the same everytime, or it just locks up and doesnt do anything.
    ran the memtest checker and get errors on test #4
    i had a DIMM of kingston that gave the same errors, so i RMA'd it and got another. same errors, so i RMA'd again and got a Crucial stick. same errors.
    so i RMA'd the motherboard since i figured it had to be that. and it improved from the problems i had earlier. (the problems i had before were worse before.)

    thanks for the info about ram timings as well. i havnt gotten any solid answers about what to set it to.
    even with new mobo and ram, i'm getting errors in memtest86 #4 test as i always have. i've tried different slots with same problems.
    i only have one module because i dont want to waste anymore money on a non-working system. once i get it up and running i'll add another 512.

Most of the time I ONLY have 1 thing open at a time, and keep my tabs down to a minimum. I bought this to do film editing on but with it acting like this I cannot do that. I know I need a ram upgrade (currently running 2 gb) and my OS is old, 10.5.8, but I think even with it being a bit outdated it should run better than this. Would a fresh install or OS upgrade resolve this? Or any other suggestions to keep this clunker chugging along for a little while longer?

    How full is the hard drive?
    Do you run any virus software or hard drive "cleaner" software like MacKeeper?
    If your model is from 2007 you can install up to 6 GBs of RAM.
    2 GBs is the barest of minimum RAM for OS X to run on.
    Especially if doing video work. You simply do not have sufficient RAM.
    Also OS X 10.5.8 Leopard support ended around 2009.
    You could update to OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, at least.
    It is available on disc from the Apple store for U.S. $19.99.
    I Would seriously upgrade your iMac's RAM to the max. 6 GBs before doing this.
    Reliable Mac RAM can be purchase from online Mac RAM source Crucial memory or OWC ( also known as macsales).

    I am having the same problem and took the following steps to mitigate it to no avail.
    1. I deleted the Facebook app on the phone and turned off Facebook in the iPhone's system-wide settings.
    2. I re-enabled Facebook in the iPhone's system-wide settings and reinstalled the Facebook app and logged in again. It worked. For about an hour.
    3. I completely restored the phone to a previous backup (before the problems started) and reenabled Facebook .... reinstalled the app.... and now it works intermittenly. But it hasn't worked in about 12 hours now (just tried a few minutes ago).
    Please advise.

    I know you can't help with my Yahoo problem, however, apparently at some time in the past I have went to the Sync and tried to figure it out on both my laptop and my desktop, because I have the long snyc key information. However, when I go to try to sync both computers I never get the box to enter that key on either one. That is my problem. So should I try and get a new sync key and see if that works.

My music is managed manually and always has. I looked online for a solution and they all involve resyncing the library and unchecking voice memos. Is there a way to resolve this issue without having to resync my music or reinstall itunes?

    Have you powered off and then back on the router?
    Have you done anything to the router recently like changed a setting?
    Have you tried:
    - Resetting the iPod. Nothing will be lost.
    Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Resetting network settings: Settings>GeneralReset>Reset Network SettingsTo me the error sounds like a network/router problem vice aan iPod problem.
