OK to upgrade from 10.3.9 to MAC OS X 10.4?

I need to use Safari 2.02 to run a surveillance program. I have Safari 1.3.1 V312.3.1. I am told to upgrade from 10.3.9 to MAC OS X 10.4 before I upgrade to Safari 2.02.
Please advise if this is ok?

CS will not upgrade to CS5. Historically, only CS2-CS4 ever qualified for upgrade to CS5. Those versions are all long superseded and no longer available from Adobe.
Adobe currently only sells CS6 (for outright purchase) and the Cloud (by subscription only). Cloud members have access to both CS6 and CC.
The only way to upgrade to CS6 is from CS5. Adobe no longer sells CS5. Unless you purchase the full version of CS5 from elsewhere (I don't see any point in that in this case) you would not be able to upgrade to CS6. You'd have to buy the full version of CS6. Or subscribe to one of the Cloud plans. PS+LR is an excellent deal if you use those products.

You can write to Apple with the serial number and they can tell you exactly when your MacPro (as opposed to Mac Book Pro) was manufactured.
And in the Apple menu > about this Mac > more info > there should be sufficient detail to narrow it down.

Upgrade from CS3 to CS5 on Mac

Our company just purchased CS5 and we were told that we should be able to upgrade from CS3 (we never got CS4). The box we received states it's an upgrade from CS4, but when we asked adobe, they said it should install. No such luck. Should we have received a different version or is there something we're supposed to do differently?

You most certainly should have. The upgrade from CS4 is (assuming Design Premium) is $200 less than the upgrade from CS2/CS3.
If you purchased directly from Adobe call them and get it straightend out.

Upgrading from PSE9 to 11 on Mac OSX

I am finding it impossible to upgrade from PSE9 to 11 with either an upgrade disc or using the download. I have a valid license code...
I have tried the using Adobe cleaner tool and multiple machine restarts....
The error message I get is:

Yes. Read: Order an Adobe product platform swap or language swap. It essentially means you buy a normal upgrade, but need to handle it through Adobe directly to exchange serial numbers.

Upgrading from Photo. Elements 3 Mac

I have an old, registered copy of Elements 3 for Mac.
I want to upgrade to the newest version, utilizing my serial number as the software's been paid for.
How do I go about doing this?

To upgrade you just need to purchase the latest version and specify the version from which you are upgrading when making your purchase selections (go to http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-elements.html)
You should receive a new serial number for the upgrade version. When you activate the new version you will most likely be asked to enter the serial number from the earlier version to satisfy the upgrade requirement.

Upgrading from Panther to Tiger on Mac Mini 1.42 G4

Hi Everyone,
Would it be a simple install to upgrade a Mac Mini 1.42 G4 that I bought used and haven't yet turned on from 10.3 Panther (pre-installed by previous owner; also have discs) to OS X Tiger 10.4.6 that I bought new from retail store?
I don't have anything on this mini to back up--no iTunes, no address book, plug-ins, 3rd party software, iPhoto--nothing. Can I just do a simple install?

Although you certainly can do an upgrade install without erasing the hard drive, but if you do you should follow this procedure:
1. Boot from the Tiger DVD.
2. After selecting your language select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu of the installer.
3. Select your startup volume from the left side list, then click on the First Aid tab in the DU main window.
4. Click on the Repair Disk button. If any errors are reported as fixed re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. Then click on the Repair Permissions button and wait for permissions to be repaired.
5. Quit DU and return to the installer.
6. Proceed with the installation. When you get to the screen where you select the target disk select the disk and click on the Options button.
7. Select the Upgrade option and click on the OK button.
8. Continue with the installation.
Because you have nothing to preserve on the drive I would recommend that you do an Erase and Install instead of the Upgrade install. There are some benefits to be had by not upgrading because some components of Tiger will not be installed during an Upgrade that are installed during a Clean Install.

Upgrading from CS to CS4 on Mac; won't take serial?

I've purchased and downloaded the CS4 upgrade and can launch it in Trial Mode, but when it searches for a "qualifying version" to upgrade, it won't take my serial number for the CS I am currently running. I guess it would be CS1 (v. 8.0).
Also: I downloaded the CS4 upgrade, but in Trial Mode it's called CS4 Extended. Same thing?

First let's make sure what we're talking about.
You mention CS being version 8. You're apparently talking about Photoshop, not one of the suites.
I would suggest posting in the Photoshop forum and if that doesn't help, call Adobe. Install issues are handled free of charge.

If I upgrade from CS3 Windows to CS4 Mac , will my windows CS3 still work?

I would like to have photoshop CS4 on my mac but be able to retain the useage of CS3 on my windows machine. Is this possible or will upgrading cancel out my ability to use CS3?

Because i have two computers that i use simultaneously, 1 mac and 1 pc. I would not own a mac if I wanted to run windows on it hehe.
I have software I use on windows because it is more supported than the mac version of it. ( some companies shouldn't tease and say they have a mac version unless they actually have a tech squad capable of squashing bugs )
It is very convenient to have photoshop on my windows pc along with that software.
My PC and Mac are almost identical in specs ( 4gb ram, 2.13 ghz core 2 duo vs 2.4 ghz core 2 duo ) yet my mac can open files from my PC's desktop 10x faster than my PC can. - over the network. I keep my PC in top shape, i defrag, i run malware / antivirus cleaners, I check my registry regularly. Its just not close to being as fast as my mac.
I use my mac primarily for webdesign/development work and thats why I would love to have a permanent version of photoshop on it. the work I do on my PC is related to 3d and the software I use has very poor mac support.
So my question has been answered, I am unable to crossgrade to mac and retain a working PC version. so for now, i get to upgrade the PC version and wait for a few more $ until i can grab a full mac version. at which point i might even go all out and grab the $1700 suite.
