Ok why doesn't find my iphone have a selection to turn back on location services? it only makes sense in the case that whoever stole ur ipad will turn it off.

ok so first off my ipad was stolen, it was all my savings since im a college student attending uci and now the art institutes. my ipad was stolen the other day and the first thing the culprit did was turn of location services. i had find my iphone installed and running and everything but they turned it off. there should be an update for find my iphone to turn location services back on in this case. or is it that apple is so money hungry even after making billions that they wish for me to buy another one as if im made of money? seriously? apple claims to take care of their consumers, yet i get the run around and so do thousands of other apple fans when it comes to stolen property, **** it should be part of ios to take advantage of the gps, wifi signal, cellular signal etc. to trace a apple product yet it's not even on apple's todo list? some customer service.

Sorry for your loss, but had you put a lock code on you iPad, the theif would not likely have been able to go in and turn off location services to begin with.  The sad truth however is, once an iPad/iPhone/iPod is stolen, it's pretty difficult to stop someone from getting away with it.  It's not Apple's fault and they can't be responsible for theft.  It's just a sad testimony to our society........And while your blaming Apple for your loss, just remember that No, Zero, Nada, electronics manufacturers get involved in theft.  Nor do cellular providers.  Theft is an issue for the police, not the manufacturer or service provider.

Lost my iPhone and why doesn't find my iPhone work

A friendly reminder: In order to use Find My IPhone Successfully, you need to 1. Turn on Location Services, 2. Lock Location Services (Using Restrictions in Settings, General, Restrictions) so that if some one else finds your IPhone, they can NOT turn off Find My IPhone And/Or Location Services itself! 3. Add your Mobile Me and/Or ICloud Account to your IPhone. 4. Lock Accounts (Again in Restrictions) from being changed or Deleted so that your Mobile Me And/OR ICloud Account can NOT be Deleted! 5. Look Up the Location of your IPhone Before Suspending Service to the IPhone, NOT after Suspending Service (simple common since applies here as well).

  • Why doesn't Find my iPhone work?

I have set up the Find my iPhone app on my iPod, but it seems to be entirely useless. Perhaps you can help me understand what's going on here and why it's having problems.
The app is set up on my computer and my iPod. I recently left my iPod in the car, and later found it there, but the app was no help. Here are the details.
Before finding my iPod (manually), I tried to locate it via the app. I thought it could have still been in the house, where it would have been connected to the internet. (It wasn't.) Before searching the car, I opened Find my iPhone from the computer, where it told me the location of the computer, but not the iPod, which it said was offline. I turned on "lost mode", clicked "play a sound", and checked "notify me when found." Of course, since it was offline, not much could be done about it. I understand what's going on so far.
Then, I went to the car to search for my iPod, and I found it there. I brought it inside, and it immediately connected to the internet. It downloaded my email, worked perfectly. Except, Find my iPhone still didn't find it. I even opened Find my iPhone from ON the device I wanted it to find, and it still listed the very same device as "offline" -- even when I checked it from that device, which was connected to the internet, logged in, had the app open, downloading other things fine...  I can even eliminate the possibility that it was searching for a different device, because it was labeled "This Device" when I select it on Find my iPhone from the iPod. It listed the pending actions, which "will take effect when this iPod connects to the Internet." It isn't even a case where this app wasn't connecting, while other apps were connecting -- the app was connecting well enough to tell me the location of my computer. But it still said the iPod was offline.
What is going on here? In this case, I found my iPod on my own and don't need help with that, but the app seems so completely useless I don't know what circumstances would have to be where it WOULD find it. I understand the limitations -- that it can only find a device that is on and connected -- but it should at least be useful for playing a sound on a device that fell behind the dresser or some such, and it doesn't even seem to be doing that properly. What's wrong? Is there some way to fix this?
    Thank you!

It sounds like the iPod's Find My [Device] feature became disconnected to the service.  This can sometimes happen after a password change or something weird like an update.
Try this and see if it helps give you some consistency.
On the iPod, go to Settings > iCloud and turn off Find my iPod (you may be prompted for your iCloud password if you are on iOS 7).  Next Tap Delete Account at the bottom and "Keep on my iPod" for any pop-ups that have this option.
This action should kick you back to the main Settings screen.  Tap on iCloud again and it should prompt you for your password (don't log in, just make sure it shows that to ensure you are logged out).
Restart your iPod by holding the Power (Sleep/Wake) Button and sliding to power off.  Wait about 2 - 3 minutes then power it back on.
Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Go to Settings > Wifi and tap your home network and join it again.
Go to Settings > iCloud.  Sign in again with your Apple ID and password.  Allow iCloud to use the location of your device (Find my iPod switch is on).
Check iCloud.com or the Find my iPhone app to see if your ipod is now locatable.
Also, Go to Settings > Privacy > Locaiton Services and make sure Find my [Device] is turned on.

Why doesn't my lost iPhone show up on the 'find me' map?

Many things can prevent this: the phone is out of battery power, the phone has been wiped out and is no longer connected to your mobile me account, and many more.

    No.
Totally frustrated that I lost this feature so the Saudis can continue on their quest to keep girls and boys apart....
As I understand it, it's to help protect a goverment controlled cell phone company's revenues.

Googling shows that you have the 1G iPod.  For apps you need at least iOS 2. The iG can go as far os 3.1.3 that you get here:
Purchasing iOS 3.1 Software Update for iPod touch (1st generation)
Just be aware that there are presently not that many apps that work with a 1G with iOS 3.1.3

why doesn't facetime on iphone 4 work without wifi with straight talk when other networks can?

Hardware requirements of the iphone 4 do not meet the specifications needed for FaceTime over cellular data.
4S and up do not require wifi for FaceTime.
    this is exactly as intended.

  • Is it possible to locate iPad 4G+WiFi location if the services iCloud and Find My iPhone have not been configured.

Hello! My IPAD 4G   Wi Fi was stolen in Kiev, 17.05.2011. Is it possible to locate its location if the services iCloud and Find My iPhone have not been configured.
If it is possible what should I do to find it?
I have already applied to the police. But I also heard that if you contact the company Apple, they can quickly find the iPad police. Is this true?

    No.
Change your iTunes (Apple ID) password along with any other password that was stored in the iPod.  If any passwords are associated with credit cards, contact the CC company and get your card replaced (with a new number).  If any passwords are associated with a bank or any other savings institution, contact them also and discuss approprate action with them.
The "Find my..." function is pretty much useless if the device is in the hands of a thief.  All that is necessary is for the thief to connect to any computer with iTunes and "Restore as new."
The only real protection you have is with the personal information on the device rather than the physical device itself.  This requires action before the device is lost/stolen.  If the device has significant personal information, it should have a strong 8-digit (or longer) password AND be configured for automatic wipe in the event of ten consecutive incorrect password entries.

I have an old iPhone 4 that finally stopped working.  I have an unlimited data plan and want to keep it.  When I called customer service, I was told like in the past that if you purchase the new phone at full price, you can keep your old plan.  However, after some time on the phone i was told by the csr and supervisor that their system is not allowing them to complete the transaction without changing to a limited data plan.  I was told to try going to a store and buy the phone.  Same thing happened.  Has Verizon changed something and not told their employees?

Seems like people having this problem are those coming from a phone that doesn't have a nano SIM card...so when Verizon issues them one they end up changing their plan. No clue why this keeps happening but stay on top of them. As long as you initiated the request for your plan to be reinstated within the 14 day time frame they should put it back. Interested in seeing how this plays out. There is still one phone in my house that hasn't been upgraded (an iPhone 4). I'm hoping when we do upgrade it at full retail they won't mess with her unlimited data plan

  • If someone finds an iphone and its being tracked...then if such person restores it and takes the previous icloud account off, can the phone still be tracked?

If someone finds an iphone and its being tracked...then if such person restores it and takes the previous icloud account off, can the phone still be tracked?

In what regard? Restrictions would not impede in iCloud. All they do are allow certain changes (like age-appropriate content on App Store to be changed), and to prevent some apps from being shown on the device if they aren't going to be used, for example, I have restrictions active on my iPhone with the Youtube App turned off so it doesn't show on my home screen, and youtube links don't open into it (i find the application clunky and prefer the website).
If the device is restored; Anything put in place by restrictions and the prior user are renderred null as the settings get completely erased.

I have several pdfs on my iPad in iBooks. My iPhone shows only the categories, none of the documents. How can I get my iPhone to also show the documents that are on my iPad?

You will need to connect your iPad to your computer's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy them over to your computer (that will copy PDFs and epubs that are in the iBooks app, not just actual ibooks), and you can then sync them to your iPhone. Or you might be able to open each PDF in iBooks on your iPad and use the share icon to email them to yourself and then use 'open in' in the Mail app on your iPhone to copy them to its iBooks app (if the PDF is protected then you may not get the email option via the share icon).
The Settings > iBooks > Sync Collections setting doesn't copy items between devices, it just means that it a bookor PDF is on both devices and you move it into a collection on one device then it will be moved into the same collection on the other device

"Where do I find my hundreds of dollars of downloads I have done since 2005?"
They will only be where you put them  If you are doing the very basics, then they will be on your computer and they will be in your backup copy of your computer.
The itunes store is not global at all, never has been. You cannot redownload your content from another country.  You can only use the countrys itunes store for the country that you are physically located.

I am using Iphone 3 GS since last 4 months. I have note registered it under Icloud and unfortunately i have lost my cel 2 days before. Can someone help me / tell me the ways that i can get my cel back or trace it..?

No way to trace it if you didn't active Find my Phone on your iPhone before you lost it.
Notify your carrier and your police of the loss.  Chances are you will never get your phone back.
