Okay, so I'm a little slow.

Umm, I just now noticed that I was no longer 'watching' the old Sun/Oracle java network forum since the end of September and eventually found my way here. Did I miss something? Last I saw was a message from Oracle, back in March, that we would be 'transitioned' into their system, but I had to create a whole new account here and basically start over as a newly registered, first-time poster, to this forum.
Is that how it is supposed to work?

An email was supposed to have gone out to everybody, or maybe everybody that had made 15 posts in the last year or something like that. It explained the transition and how if you signed up on Oracle using the same email address as on Sun by Sep. 10, then your account would be migrated.
I'm active on here pretty much every day, so I saw the discussions on the site about it. I never got the email though.
So either you weren't active enough to warrant an email, or you just didn't get one for the same error that prevented others and me from getting it.

Because if i have followed your help maybe my laptop now would be destroyed, since you said i had wrong drivers for my Graphic Card, i was close to follow your instructions and to mess up and maybe even destroy by uninstalling and installing drivers, because Graphics are senestive now , but i am glad i did not follow your Instructions Paolo30.

IMac a little slow on start up

my iMac is a little slow lately and that had never happened before.
I am running OS X Yosemite and I have 1.68 TB free of 2TB
I do not think it should be slow.
Slow when it has been sleeping and I come home and touch the pad and it takes a while for it to wake up.
It takes a while for it to let me enter my password.
Why could this be happening?

Machine authentication is a little slow causing logon script to fail

using:
- Windows Zero with PEAP
- Machine authentication only (AuthMode is set to 2 in the registry)
- PCs are loginning it automatically, so it's a fast process
It appears that machine authentication is a little slow. I can ping the PC's IP after the auto login happens. This cuses logon script to fail.
If I hold shift to cancel auto-login, and wait for 10-20 seconds, the ping of the PC starts, and then if I login the logon script works.
Does anyone know a solution to this issue? Maybe a way to introduce a delay for login window (msgina.dll) to appear, so that machine authentication has time to connect

It's a common issue when authentication takes time.
You can simply delay the logon scripts.
This is an example of waiting for network to be up by pinging 10.10.10.10
Only when network is up, then it will execute the script

which model MacBook Pro do you have, and how much RAM does it have?
If its slowness is due to installed third-party software, then upgrading to Mavericks won’t resolve that problem. You could try downloading and installing EtreCheck, and including in your reply the output from a run of EtreCheck, to see if possible sources of slowness can be identified.

Try to solve it yourself... Standard troubleshooting...
1. Try a Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the slider. Slide to power off. Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the Apple logo.
2. Try a Reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
3. Remove apps from Recently Used (multi-tasking) list...
- From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
- Swipe up on the app preview card to remove it from the list
- Press the home button when done.
4. If still a problem restore with your backup.
5. If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
6. If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue.

Hey guys! I got my new iPad (32GB with iOS 5.1.1) one month ago. Now I found it takes longer to wake it up than my old iPad 2 with SmartCover. I have to wait for 1-2 seconds before the screen lit up. However, iPad 2 only take half seconds or less, seems instantly...
I wonder if anyone has the same problem like me? Is it something related to the iOS or can I change for a faster one (if the problem is hardware-related)? Thanks for your contribution.

Thanks for your detailed reply. I can't see any slow response on iPad 2 even with lots of app running background I think may be this issue is by design for iPad 3, or may be caused by the iOS 5.1.1 as my iPad 2 still running its original iOS 5.0.1...
This issue is rarely reported, so may be it's an exception for both of us.
I was concerned about this, but not that much now. The stunning Retina makes me forgot it! I bet you feel the same

Discoverer report runs okay in test system but very slow in live

Hi all
My Discoverer report takes about 5 minutes to run in the test environment. The same report (absolutely the same SQL in the custom folder in the admin edition and the same conditions and sort in the Desktop edition) takes at least 45 mins to run in live.
Has anyone faced a problem like this? How can I speed up my report in the live environment? I am using Discoverer version 4.1.48.06.00

Are you sure the 2 environments are exactly the same (ie: one recently copied to the other)? Reason I'm asking is that if one has many more records, or one has an index, etc. then that would, of course, cause a difference.
What about the time when you're running it? Is the production environment an Apps environment and they're running batch jobs, updating shipping info in the last week of the month, etc?
I would first of all see if the environments are the same by trying something as simple as running the query in TOAD or SQL Navigator or SQL Developer in both environments and then seeing if there's the same difference. If not, then move on to the Discoverer side of things.
If they're still different, then are the Disco environments the same? Have you turned query prediction, etc. off in DEV but not in PROD?
Is the DEV box a hot damn new UNIX box with all the good stuff like oodles of memory, multi-processors, etc? And is the PROD box a Commodore 64? Okay, just kidding on the last test, but you get the idea.
Start at the same relative time (ie: morning). Start TOAD, etc. and see the speed difference there. Then move on to Disco and see the speed difference.

Unable to connect to canon MG5350 printer wirelessly and also noticed running very hot to touch and a little slow at times. Can anyone advise?

It's just how computers are. The longer you use it, the more files you gather, and the slower the computer gets. If you want to make it faster, you need to simply drag files to the trashbin, and then empty the trash. I hope I helped.

Blob Storage seem a little slow over the last few days?

I have monitoring software front end and backend and both are showing slower than normal activity. Same occurred leading up to mass outage.
Azure storage is showing higher than normal latency for storage requests. Anyone else noticing this.
I'm also noticing it on some queries that I do which I know run in seconds and are taking longer than normal and yes nothing else is making them run slow.
Exact same thing occurred running up to the mass outage. Are Azure updating or heading towards another outage?

My Macbook Pro has become a little slow since last week. It Hangs Frequently. What to do ? Need Help.

Changes since last week :
1. Boot time has become very slow. Takes approximately 2 to 3 minutes to boot.
2. When I am using it, for sometime it is fine. Then suddenly it hangs. The cursor gets transformed into the processing sign, I cant click anywhere. I have to wait for the processing sign to transform back to the normal cursor. This takes upto 30 seconds. When it transforms back, everything is normal again. This happens every 1 hour.
3. When I am listening to music in Itunes, Sometimes the music stops suddenly. Nothing happens for sometime, then its fine again.
Could you please help me?

G5 running a little slow

I noticed my g5 slowing down today,anyone know what is sufficient for running a g5 with logic pro 7.
How much free memory should be available and how much free disc space on my hard drive.I use an external drive when i record audio and my g5 comes with a 250 gb drive and i only have 50gb's left of space

Ok here's what I have learned.
Once you have a setup that works..... don't change it!! Don't update anything..... and if you have to update, read what are the changes that are going to be applied to the new update and how will it affect your current version of LP. Even if you have to email the manufactures to ask them painstakingly one by one if this update will affect A, B or C on your setup and if this and so and so is supported.... then you do it.
Why update if everything works, get to a point where you understand what each update is going to do. Take back the control of how fast manufactures are forcing you to buy and struggle with their development.
So if everything worked b 4.... trace which software update changed it, then go back to that setup. I say this cause I am assuming it's an update with battery 3 that changed something in your overall speed.
I remember when I still had my G5. I was on LP7 on a G5 and I had a ridiculous amount of freedom and power on it and the moment I moved to LP8.... it was like they wrote LP8 specifically to force me to get an intel mac...... which i then did. Since then I try stick to what works for as long as I possibly can, cause these updates are just not always necessary and besides they almost never have anything to do with the way things sound at the end of the day.
My advice, be it flawed in which ever way, try get back to what you had.... re-installing from the top I guess?
I know you can also have an entire secondary boot up drive to test stuff on before you actually use it, to check stability and performance etc. but that someone else will have to explain as I seem to have forgotten the finer detail.
Hope you get stuff fast again as I am sure it's very irritating to you.
