I dont know if its my computer because it says that the device is unknown and doesnt come up as apple mobile device but I've watched youtube videos that seemed like they had similiar problems but they didnt work for me. I've tried the whole home button thing,updating itunes and everything but the recovery screen still wouldnt go away. Installing a SIM card will never rectify the device being in recovery mode.
Put the device in DFU mode and attempt to restore it as new via iTunes. Google "DFU mode" for instructions.

What do you mean by 'reset everything' ? Did you delete all of the apps that he had downloaded onto it ? All apps (and other content from the store) are tied to the account that downloaded them, so if the Facebook app was downloaded by his account then only his account will be able to download updates to it - you will need to delete the app and download it with your account for it to be linked to your account so that you can download future updates to it.

You don't add media (other than music) to your device by dragging. It's by synching.

Sorry, but Boost reportedly does not offer unlocking for iPhones, so you're stuck with them unless you can return the iPhone for a refund and cancel the service, or can sell the iPhone to someone who could use it with Boost.

I am having same problem . i can not use the phone. my Carrier ROGERS checked the phone its not stolen or lost phone but after restoring always ask for apple ID of previous owner and seller is not responding to any mails or phone if some one can help me out than it will be great.

You cannot delete the iCloud account that is signed on to Find My iPhone unless you know the password. This is called the Activation Lock:
ACTIVATION LOCK
It is an anti-theft security measure that is a part of iOS 7. You can only get around this by following the steps in this support article:
Find My iPhone Activation Lock: Removing a device from a previous owner’s account
Contact your friend. This is the only way around the lock.
