Okay to plug original iBook 1.33ghz recharger into wall?

Hey, i have an iBook g4 1.33GHz, and i was wondering if you could plug the battery charger into the wall with either of the plugs you can plug into it. You know, the long cord or the one that just goes straight into the wall. Its the one that came with my computer, so its the original one. So should I use a surge protector or is there one built into it?

You can do either. The longer cable includes a ground pin. There is no built in surge protector, so you should use one. But don't trust a surge protector if there is lightning--always unplug everything to be really safe.
Good luck!

At night, as soon as I plug my iphone to be recharged, my iphone starts behaving anomaly.  It is like somebody has taken control of it.  I see the screens moving, music starts playing and then stopping, etc.  I have noticed that several nights.  What I do is in Settings is to change  into Plane Mode, thinking that, may be if I do that, somebody that has taking control of it will not be able to download data.  Yesterday night, I was awakened by an alarm, whose setting I did not changed. When I looked over, the alarm screen changed to Settings and the Plane Mode changed alone in front of my eyes, from on to off.
I have not observed such a situation during the day. Only when I plug the cable.
I suspected that may be there is no Trojan installed. May be the cable, which is a spare cable, has been modified by a hacker, and it has electronics installed in the connector.  But tested with the original cable, and the behavior was the same, as described above.

    Thanks Meg for your reply.
It could be that both cable are bad. But, anyway, you would not expect any of these manifestations, even with a bad cable. I had bad cable for my 4s, and never saw such a thing!
I contacted by chat the support of Apple.  They told me that this behavior could be a software problem and recommended me to do a full recover of my iphone. That meant, putting in at the factory conditions and recup all the data from the backup.  I did that, and the behavior did not change.  The backup was made with the data of my PC, not icloud.  Tomorrow will try with icloud and check if that will work.

no, if iTunes can't find its drive/folder, it defaults to creating one within your Home directory's Music folder.
If anyone knows a way I send a product suggestions to apple please let me know, as I have a few that would like to suggest.

  • Is it okay to plug in and unplug the iPad Air throughout the day?

I did this with my iPad two and never really had issues but I would like to prolong the life of my new battery as much as possible. Is it okay to plug it to charge it for short bursts at a time throughout the day?

I figured that was the case and I've always done it with my phones as well. I just figured I would ask around. Really what I'm concerned about it is, for example: using it to about 85% and then charging it to maybe around 93% and then unplugging it. There are so many opinions about proper battery charging a few say it should be charged to 100% before unplugging. I'm just curious more than anything.
Those sorts of comments about charging are long pointless hold overs from the days of NiCad and nickle metal hydride rechargeable batteries.  They simply have no relevance any more with smart Lithium polymer battery technology.
Plug and unplug at will - your Lithium polymer battery will not be adversely affected at all.

  • The tenth anniversary of the original iBook - Happy belated birthday!

I just want to say thank you for the best designed (some say worst) and most durable portable computer Apple has ever built.
Steve Jobs unveiled the original iBook G3 (tangerine and blueberry) during the keynote presentation of Macworld Conference & Expo, New York City on July 21, 1999.

    Happy Birthday iMac!
My first was a 1999 Grape iMac DV (the colour has stuck on me even since!) which got me through university, that, my iMac G4 20" and 2.8GHz Core 2 Extreme are all going strong and all wonderful.

  • Upgrading original iBook hard drive

    Hello.
I have just discovered the Mac with a new second-hand original blueberry clamshell iBook. It's come with a 3GB internal HD which I find is puny. I want to upgrade, but I admit I'm scared after looking at the instructions on www.ifixit.com. I know that I need a 9.5mm tall replacement, but I'm totally new to Macs (used to Windows) and want to know every detail about upgrading, i.e. how to put OS 9 back on, are there specific Mac hard drives? what will happen when I turn it on just after the HD upgrade etc.
I confess my ignorance, and thank everyone in advance for having read this message thus far.
Original iBook G3 Clamshell   Mac OS 9.2.x

The process is a little involved. I recently upgraded my 10g on my iBook 466 SE Graphite to a Toshiba 40g that I had access to. It took me (I have built PC's from scratch-for years) 1:45 hours, only because I had never opened a iBook previously, and wanted to be careful. I used the instructions on www.ifixit.com. Most (if not all) laptop hard drives now are 9.5mm, only those that are (I believe) prior to 2000 are taller that 9.5mm. But any new hard drive you buy is the newer specification...9.5mm.
As for the upgrading to OS X, if your iBook, it would be better to upgrade to panther 10.3.9 and not to tiger 10.4.x, but it will run tiger. You may need to install a third party program called xpostfacto, because I believe you do not have Firewire on that iBook and Tiger looks for that as a requirement.
Also before you upgrade to OS X anything, you should hook that iBook up to internet and do a update to make sure you have most current firmware.
The most current firmware for colored iBook's is :

  • Can get past the "Power adapter plugging into wall" icon

I just got my brothers older 60gb Photo ipod and am trying to get it working on my computer. Did the whole restore thing, but now it is stuck at the Power adapter plugging into wall icon. I didn't have the original wall plug so I got a universal one at Radio Shack. Only the ipod still has the darn icon on it and I can't get past it. Any suggestions>

Lets do a trick. Connect the iPod and the cabel. The USB connector has 2 prongs that stick out a little more than the rest the goal. is to push it in a little so it charges but does not sync. Give It A Try.

  • I just backed up my mac to an external hard drive using Time Machine. What would happen if I turn Time Machine off and then plug the external hard drive back into my computer?

I just backed up my mac to an external hard drive using Time Machine. What would happen if I turn Time Machine off and then plug the external hard drive back into my computer?
What I am ultimately wanting to do is make more room on my computer by backing up all of my files onto the external hard drive and then deleting them off of my computer. However, neededing to be able to retrieve them from the external hard drive later down the road.
From what I have read and am trying to understand, is that I probably shouldn't have used time machine. I need to use the external hard drive like a basic flash drive where I can put things on and get things off without having it automatically update through time machine everytime I connect it to my computer.
Not tech savvy at all and barely understand basics. I need very simple and easy to understand explanations.

BIG BIG MISTAKE ..... youre making a linchpin deathtrap for your data trying to shove everything on a single fragile HD.
Dont suffer the tragedy other people make, buy another or 2 more HD, theyre cheap as dust.
The number of people who have experienced terror by having a single external HD backup is enormous.  One failure that WILL HAPPEN, and kaput,......all gone!
Dont do it, its all about redundancy, redundancy, redundancy.
    follow here:
Methodology to protect your data. Backups vs. Archives. Long-term data protection
Deleting them off your computer is fine....having only ONE copy is extremely BAD.
The Tragedy that will be, the tragedy that never should be
Always presume correctly that your data is priceless and takes a very long time to create and often is irreplaceable. Always presume accurately that hard drives are extremely cheap, and you have no excuse not to have multiple redundant copies of your data copied on hard drives and squirreled away several places, lockboxes, safes, fireboxes, offsite and otherwise.
Hard drives aren't prone to failure…hard drives are guaranteed to fail (the very same is true of SSD). Hard drives dont die when aged, hard drives die at any age, and peak in death when young and slowly increase in risk as they age.
Never practice at any time for any reason the false premise and unreal sense of security in thinking your data is safe on any single external hard drive. This is never the case and has proven to be the single most common horrible tragedy of data loss that exists.
Many 100s of millions of hours of lost work and data are lost each year due to this single common false security. This is an unnatural disaster that can avoid by making all data redundant and then redundant again. If you let a $60 additional redundant hard drive and 3 hours of copying stand between you and years of work, then you've made a fundamental mistake countless 1000s of people each year have come to regret.

Why not just connect the PC directly to the TC by ethernet and copy the files over?
It is hugely faster and much less mucking around.
In windows load the airport utility for windows.. if you have not already as this will help you access the drive.

How can you pull in pdf's from iBooks and bring them into the Box app?

That sounds great, but I'm lost.
    I followed these steps:
    1) Open your PDF (in Adobe Acrobat Pro)
    2) Chose print
The print/printer options pop-up will show.
    3) In the printer section, do not use your normal printer, a printer named Adobe PDF should be an option. Chose it.
    4) Under the "Page handling" section, change the Page Scaling drop-down menu to "Multiple pages per sheet".
It works fine, but it looses all of the font information and the search no longer works. How can you do it and save the font info, so the search tool continues to operate.
    Am I missing anything?

Go to Settings, iCloud, and then Storage and Backup.  You will then see a button to backup your iPad.  It may be that you have much stuff (i.e. photos, apps) for it to do a full backup but you will be able to tell what the estimated backup should be and what it will consist of so that you can choose to prune down items.  If you don't want to backup and get rid of the messages you can just turn backup off from this area as well.

  • IBook don't go into sleep after 10.4.7 update.

    Hello,
today i've installed the 10.4.7 update. After the installation my iBook doesn't go into sleep. When I close the Notebook the white indicator blinking once and the iBook wake up. If I try to activate the sleep mode from apple menu it is the same problem.
I have disconnected all USB devices and also the modem, network and deactivate the airport connection. I've also deactivated the wake up on LAN- and modem ring in the System Preferences. But with no effect.
Next I have checked the process list but there is no application witch is abnormally.
I have talked with a friend an he says that he have the same problem and also with the USB connection after the update. He has an PowerMac G4.
We have compared the sys-log files and we have the same abnormally entries after the 10.4.7 update.
    Log-file:

You can see that the system go into Sleep and Wake up at the same second. That is not normal I think. And also the" iBookG4 kernel[0]: Sound assertion...".
The line: "...iBookG4 kernel[0]: jnl: close: flushing..." I not know what this is? There are much of them in the log after the update.
An iBook with no standby function is not acceptable for me. Is there any possibility to downgrade the System to 10.4.6?
Please help me in this reason.
