Not sure where to post this because I'm not sure exactly where the problem is. I'm trying to open a file by clicking a file:// URL in a mail message. Mail responds with the message, "Mail was unable to open the URL 'file://Volumes/bla/bla/bla/spreadsheet.xls'. No associated application could be found."
At first it seems that Mail doesn't know what program to pass the protocol "file://" to, but if I paste the URL into Safari, Safari doesn't seem to know either (but Safari claims there is no file at that location), which makes me think it's a wider system configuration issue.
So I download "More Internet," which tells me "file://" URLs are handled by the Finder. So if the system knows that "file://" URLs are to be opened by the Finder, and the Finder knows that files with ".xls" extensions are to be opened by Excel, where is the problem?

file://Volumes... indicates that it is looking on your hard disk for the file. If it's there, you could navigate through the folder hierarchy on your disk and find it. What it sounds like is someone sent you the path to the file on their computer which really doesn't help you at all unless you are on a local network with them. Is the first "bla" after Volumes the name of your local drive or a drive you have access to?

You don't transfer Apple ID's from one device to another one. You sign out in the settings, )the App Store and iTunes if necessary) and then sign in with the other ID.
Settings>iTunes & App Stores>Apple ID>Sign out. Them sign in with the other ID. You can sign out of the app store and iTunes as well by going to the featured Atab in the App Store and the music tab in iTunes, swipe to the bottom and access the Apple ID in there.
You should have erased the iOad before you gave it to her in Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings. That way she could set up the iPad as new with her own Apple ID.
Be aware of the fact that if you use each others ID's in order to download past purchased content to your own iPads, you will lock yourself out of your own ID as you will have associated your iPad with the other person's Apple ID.
In other words, if you sign into your wife's ID on your iPad so that you can download an app or an album so that you don't have to pay for it again, you will lock yourself out of your Apple ID for 90 days.

You can NOT do so. Only the owner of the account used to lock the phone can remove it. Instructions for how to do so can be found within or linked from within the document I already linked to.
Activation lock is an anti-theft feature designed to make the device useless to anyone other than the rightful owner.
If your friend refuses to give your money back and can not or will not remove the activation lock, there is a fair possibility that the phone was not theirs to sell in the first place.

Okay, I have read some of the issues here and I am scratching my head. I have my PC hard wired to a Linksys WRT G router and my Mac is connected wirelessly to it just fine. Now, my computers don't seem to see each other on the network. Pretend I am a a complete novice and step me through telling me how to network to share the CD files, documents and pics that I have on my PC with my MAC.
I have the sharing enabled on both the MAC and the PC and I had this working at one point but something went haywire and all was lost. I have since reset my router and re-established the wireless connection between the PC and MAC.
When I click on the Finder and click on Network, my PC is no longer in there like it was before.
Any help would be appreciated.

Removing the dummy root element

Looks like I created a topic that cannot
be replied to! The topic maintainers will
have to delete it.
After looking at the XMLSample code I realized my mistake... oops!
A quick edit turned off the <root>
containment. Not sure why it's there in
the sample in the first place.
For anyone else who tries this, here's the
change to remove the dummy root element:
The new code in XMLSample.java is:

Please try deleting the xml files corresponding to the dimensions from the backend and try opening the dimension member sheet.

Is it okay to cover the cellular antennae

I am considering using a Luvvitt Silverback skin to protect the backside of my iPad 4 with cellular service. Luvvitt support informed me that it is okay to cover the antennae with the skin and that it would not affect my service. However, prior to just installing it I wanted to find out if anyone has had experience with covering the cellular antennae with a skin. It sould be great is someone has experience with the Luvvitt Silverback.

I don't have any experience with covering/not covering the cell antenna on an iDevice. With that being said, case manufacturers will usually know something about their product. They have to comply with certain guidlines when it comes to covering critical components. I would assume that what tech support are saying is true & that the skin would have no effect on the antenna operation...after all, they have a product to sell and if it impedes the operation, it won't sell. Maybe you'd have some luck looking up the item in question on Amazon.com and read the reviews from other users there. However, if you want to wait for a valid reply from someone who has actually used the product here on these forums, by all means do so.

We are using network print server using HP LaserJet 5550 and jetdirect, since our number of users is more than 500 staff in one place, sometimes they do the unresponsible printing such as print full color photos for personal use, print a novel and anything that not related to the business purpose.
Today, our director found out that someone print out a whole story book and spend a lot of paper... he challenge me to find out who is the user who did this? I can log on to the printer web console, but I can't find user log printing...
Any help will be much appreciated.

How to track the user who deleted the info object.

Dear Gurus,
In our BI system one info object has got deleted. If I need to track the user who has deleted that how can I track it(in which DBtable). And the complication is one user ID is being used by many people, in this case how can I track that from which machine the Info Object has been deleted(if there is any possibility to track the machines by IP address).
Kindly let me know if there is any procedure to find it out. Your help will be rewarded with a great honour.

you have to go in SLG1 transaction, and then select
Object: RSD
Subobject: IOBJ_DEL
External ID: (put here the name of your deleted IO)
Then choose a time range...and voilà, you can find the user who deleted the IO...

For this i am using a standard include RVADOPFO but here we need to pass the address number and person number gor getting the rest of the details. So where i can find the address of the person who created the sales order. (I am able to get the name throuhg VBDKA-ERNAM, but i need address number of that person)

in ADRC you will get the address of the SO created person in the field ADDRNUMBER that you have to pass in the ADR6-ADDRNUMBER you will get the mail address in the field ADR6-SMTP_ADDR

You should not have activated Classical PCA if you are using New GL.. New GL PCA is a much better functionality
Anyways, the reason for DUmmy PC is only that you did not assign the PC in the CO Object like Cost Center.. PC is always derived from Cost object. So, if the CO Object has no PC, the line item gets Dummy PC
There is a SAP note 702854 which offers steps to deactivate Classical PCA.. If you wish you can do that.. There is no harm as such in having Classical PCA, but New GL Is better
