OKI 5500n driver does not get installed......

I tried it on Macbook Pro intel and MacPro xenon.
in os 10.5.3 the printer just stopped working!!!
When I install the new driver from oki.com It appears that is is getting installed properly but I can not find the driver. I created a separate folder but still does not get installed!!!!
Please help!!!

I just got this working, after calling Okidata at 1-800-oki-data as someone suggested. I had tried installing all the drivers from the oki web site which apparently was not the best thing to do.
The final procedure that worked was:
1) Move Library/Printers/Okidata folder to trash and empty trash
2) Move all other folders in that Library/Printers directory, EXCEPT for PPDs) to a temporary directory on the desktop
3) Reboot
4) Install OSX5C5500E driver
5) Open System Preferences/Print&Fax
6) Click + to add a a printer
7) IGNORE THE OKI PRINTER THAT APPEARS THERE
8) Select "More Printers"
9) Under Oki USB, a printer driver will show up - choose that one.
10) Print - it works now!
11) Move other printer drivers back into Library/Printers
12) Enjoy using Okidata printer rather than buying lots of HP ink.

    Hi Friends,
    we are deploying the SP1 via SCCM 2012 , and the success rate is around 50 %, its a Light touch installation where user will initiate the installation via Software Center ( Web based )
    i was able to gather few errors , and this are the errors which failed during SP1 Installation 0x800f0828,
    some errors which sccm reports display are 
    11171
    10008
    10021-
    17031 - 
    1602 - User Cancelled installation
    113 - No more internal file identifiers available
    10070 - File handle reference is no longer available
    10050 - A socket operation encountered a dead network
    11170  - The task sequence manager could not successfully complete execution of the task sequence
    i could not find the reason for some of the errors, also i am looking for a fix/woraround if any
    Also i have noticed that in few computers the task seq failed at a place where after the sp1 installation a reboot happens and then PGP BYPASS utility is uninstalled, it did not start the PGP bypass uninstall after reboot
    is there a way to cut short the Task seq and keep it simple ?
    right now its like this 
    1. checking for prerequisite : checks for OS Name and OS version
    2. installs PGP Bootgaurd Bypass
    3. System Restart
    4. Installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1
    5. Final Restart
    6. uninstall PGP Bootgaurd Bypass

    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
    Note: This is now your Library. It's not a Back Up, and you need another disk for backing up.

    I tried installing all the wifi drivers that are there in the network drivers given in this website for hp dv6 6165-tx .But the drivers are not getting installed.It is showing the message that "the driver could not be installed properly as it is not compatible with the current version of windows".What to do.Plzz help me out..

     I upgraded my G580 (2689)to Windows 8 and had terrible trouble getting the wifi/bluetooth to work. I installed the driver 5.100.245.20 downloaded from Lenovo Support but it would not work at all. I went into the BIOS and reset to defaults and hey presto it began working! Strange really, as I had never been into the BIOS to alter anything. It may not work for everyone but must be worth a try eh?

  • New hard drive does not get recognized by OS X server 10.6

    Xserve disk utility does no see the new HD. It is not HD issue as I have tested drive in other carrier, switched drive in different bays, booted from Xserve 10.6 dvd and 10.6 Server image in our net boot. Drive is not seen by disk utility. Even put in an Apple original (Mac Pro) HD. We have verified that. memory, HDD carrier and HD Bay are not defective.

Other 2 drives in the Xserve are recognized in all bays.I even switced HD carrier. Nothing seems to work. I found the following notes in the Xserve manual. I could not fully understand that.   • Names.exe does not get installed when installing oracle

    Hello Group,
    I have installe Oracle 9.2 server on a Windows 2000 SP 4 machine and am configuring this as an oracle names server. The configuration is succesfull, however the service cannot be started 'coz the service is configured to execute the files names.exe from the folder c:\oracle\ora92\bin\names.exe.
    However, i have searched twice but this file does not exist on the server. I am not sure if i am missing something.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    I've got the same problem after installation Oracle 9.2.0.1 for Windows.The file names.exe was missed.
    And what is more I installed twice this product and in both cases I could find names.exe in bin directory.
    May be I have to set special option for Oracle Names before the installation.

    recently certain video or pictorial attachments to my e-mails be opened because the system requires the installation of the Adobe Flash player with Java plug-ins. The message also gives a link for installation. It appears to install but nothing really happens. Then the message advises that it will install automatically once security is uninstalled or when Firefox is off. Nothing seems to work. Please help. P.S.   • Oracle XE service does not get installed

    2 days ago downloaded Oracle 10 g Express Edition and installed on my computer. It installed succesfully and gave no erros. But when I tried to go to the homepage it failed to open. Then I check the services.msc and found that OracleXEService was not there. Then I uninstalled it and installed 11g XE Release2. But again the same problem. What's wrong with this? Does the OracleXE setup install both client and server side?

    Well, there must be something going wrong on your system, and there should be some clue either in the installation process itself, or in the log files.
    On my system, there are five logs in the directory named above:
    cloneDBCreation.log
    CloneRmanRestore.log
    postDBCreation.log
    postScripts.log
    XE.bat.log
    Do you have any of these? If not, you could try a silent installation as documented in the [url http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17781_01/install.112/e18803/toc.htm#BABBCGHA]Installation Guide. That way you'll definetly get a log file for the installation. There is also a silent mode for a repair installation. Perhaps you could try that as well.

    hi all .. I have the flat panel Superdrive IMAC 1.25 ghz. with about 35GB space in it. I tried installing leaopard but it not only failed but also the leaopard DVD was stuck. I figured out how to remove the dvd but was wondering if I can install leopard on it ???

    Then never be afraid to start a new thread, especially in a case like this one where there is no clear solution found. Exhuming a old thread that goes back a month or more almost guarantees fewer "looks" from the community. A new thread gets the attention it deserves.

  • IMac Slot Loading CD Drive does not get traction on CD's

    When I insert a Cd, It doesnt suck it in very well, sometimes I have push a little. then when i eject, it tries to eject, the wheels spin and the CD only pokes out about a millimeter beyond the doors. I have to grab it with pliers to pull it out. Is there any way I can get it to get better traction?

    Well first try taking the bottom off and checking out the action with it off.
    Helps? - The bottom is misaligned and needs to be installed correctly.
    No Help? - The drive will have to come out and be taken apart.
    Here I'm looking at a CD-ROM CRN-8242B:
    3 tiny screws and the top comes off.
    That thing you see that's silver and gray is the CD eject and insertion mechanism. It's all one piece. One tiny screw opposite the motor and drive mechanism comes out, the eject mechanism pushes back and unhooks and the entire thing comes out.
    Now turn it over and you'll see a motor, worm drive and some gears that drive a long rubber long rubber roller. Often that roller gets dirty, glazed and needs to be cleaned/ rejuvenated. There used to be a product for that, used to use the original Goof-Off - the critical ingredient was MEK (methyl ethyl ketone) to restore the tack on the roller.
    The other possibility is that the rubber belt is slipping, gears are broken/slipping, not meshing.

    I have just installed a new hard drive in my imac intel 20" (2006) and upgraded the memory and now the hard drive does not show up in the 'select destinations' folder of the install program. I can see the hard drive in the disk utilities window however it wont let me do anything.
    It is a seagate 1TB SATA II drive however it is displaying it as a 7.3 TB.
    If anyone has any suggestions I would be happy to hear them.
    I have tried to erase and partition and get the same error message each time, 'Input/Output error'.
    I have tried starting the thing with the install disk which is Mac OS X (Tiger?) which came with the computer. No good.
    Anyone?

    Thats correct. I can see it in the list however when I attempt to erase it or partition it it's like it's not being found or recognised and it throws up the input/output error message. I am pretty sure that the sensor it attached correctly and it is a SATA drive. I can see all the infor regarding the drive when disk utility is open and it all looks good but I cant access it or do anything with it. It's taunting me!
    The install disk is in the drive and the install program runs right up to the point where you have to select the location for the install and there is just nothing in the box where you have to select the hard drive icon.
    I have my suspiscions about the drive but any help would be appreciated.

    I have just installed Premier Pro CS3 on a brand new PC. I am a new user and I am receiving a message "The installed sound card driver does not support direct sound input".
    PC is a 3 GHZ Intel Duo
    4 G RAM
    2 x 500 G HD
    Windows Home Vista Preminum

    The CD/DVD driver is part of the Microsoft system and also available on the Windows 7 installation disk.
    Therefore there are no special CD/DVD drivers available.
    I read about this theme in different forums and also on Microsoft support forum and mostly this issue appear if the Windows system disk is faulty/damage.
    I dont know from where you got this disk but I recommend you to download an Windows iso file from Microsoft server as mentioned here:

    Then you could create own Windows installation disk or USB flash memory stick
    The serial key which you got with the Windows disk could be used for activation.
