Oki C9300 / PPD Files / PostScript

I have Leopard 10.5.2 and an Oki C9300. When using Adobe Photoshop CS3, Indesign CS3 or Acrobat Professional CS3 - I can not print files that contain postscript information (usually .EPS image files).
I contacted OKIDATA and they sent me some PPD files of which include what seems to be support for 10.2.x and 10.3.x and newer, however after installing the PPD files I can not print to the Oki C9300 when a document contains postscript information.
Does anyone know of PPD files either by adobe or oki that support leopard 10.5.x ?
- I also have 10.3.9 on my older mac and that still prints to the oki just fine when using PS files. This is my only work-around for now. Of course id like to print from my new computer.

UPDATE:
With the 10.3.x PPD File from OKI I can print when converting EPS and Indesign files to PDF.
However... When printing in InDesign CS3 I can print projects in 8x10 format that contain .eps image files but when i try to print 11x17 layouts that contain .eps files I get blank or garbled text pages. Also when doing this ... the OKI C9300 displays .pcl instead of .ps on its display. Confusing.
My first thought is that OKI needs to update the PPD file to work with leopard and CS3, however they insist that it should work.
any help?

  • Can not create printer with my own ppd file

I have a printer model that is not covered in Solaris Print Manager.
I downloaded a foomatic-PPD file. Followed the steps (from Solaris 10 administration guide) to add printer. (lpfilter -f $ name -F $ filter didn't succeed, so I manually did lpfilter -f foomatic -F foomatic.fd)
After printer is added, and it's idle, I tried to print a job, but it says:
UX:lp: ERROR: The LP print service could not read your request file
To fix: see if the spooling file system is full.
I have also tried to add a new entry in /usr/lib/lp/model/ppd/ppdcache and the new entry points to my ppd file.
Add printer through Soloaris print manager, I got the exact same message.
    Any tips?

I haven't played with this myself, but from looking at the documentation and what you have done:
    1. is this a locally attached printer (serial port , usb, etc.) or a network printer? You are using standard_foomatic that is for locally attached printers, but your description seems to indicate that the printer is on the network. If it's a network printer, then the netstandard_foomatic script should be used.
    2. Is the content type of postscript appropriate for this printer? The docs use that but that may not be correct. Is the Optra E312 a postscript printer?
    3. althought the built-in ppd files are in the .gz format (and unzipped as needed), the docs indicate that the "home brewed" ppds should be just plain .ppd.
Not sure if any of this is relevant, but that's my 2 cents.

  • PPD File:Where is a support center?

I have a question about a PPD file.
    Where is a support center?
    thx.

A PPD file is a “PostScript Printer Description” file, an ASCII text file that contains information used by applications and/or PostScript printer drivers to customize the PostScript being generated for a specific PostScript printer model.
There is no “support center” for these files. Typically, they are generated by the manufacturer of PostScript printers and provided with the host software for same. They are also often bundled with operating system (i.e., MacOS and Windows) releases for popular devices.
Generally speaking, hacking around with PPD files is not recommended since much of the interaction between PPD files, drivers, and applications is poorly or not documented.
I have attached the official documentation of the PPD file format for your perusal.
You might want to ask us a specific question that we may be able to assist you with.

  • Looking for the *.ppd file for an HP P1102w printer (to install in eCS system (= OS/2)

Looking for the *.ppd file for an HP P1102w printer (to install in an eCS system (=> OS/2)).  (.ppd means
PostScript printer description, applies even if the printer is _not_ postscript.; available for most printers
but isn't on the CD!)  Can anyone point me to the file ?
    John H. Lindsay

The LaserJet P1102 models are 'host-based', which means that they do not understand any of the 'traditional' Page Description Languages (PCL5, PCL6 (a.k.a. PCL XL), PostScript).
So unless your eCS system (whatever that is) has knowledge of the (various) proprietary and model-specific host-based languages, I don't think that a printer description file would help at all.

  • [SOLVED] Gutenprint 5.0.2 mismatch PPD file

    Hi,
When I try print on my printer (old laserjet HP-4 connected via parallel:/dev/lp0) Cups display info: "Gutenprint: The version of Gutenprint software installed (5.0.2) does not match the PPD file (5.0.1)." and I can't print. Where is PPD 5.0.2?
Off course I can print after downgrade Gutenprint to 5.0.1-3.

I had the issue but it seems fixed for me now: I needed to reselect one of the drivers via cups web interface 'modify printer' option.

  • Help printing seperations / PPD files

    Hello,
I have created a design in illustrator - which I want to print as colour seperations to use as a screen printing design.
However, when I go to the output section of the print dialogue, the Mode section is greyed out - and I believe this is where I need to select the seperations I am after.
There are also no drop downs for PPD - so I don't know whether I need to load one (I have a Canon ip4300, have looked for a PPD file but not found one) or alter a setting in Illustrator?
Any help is welcomed -  really would like to be able to use Illustrator for printing my designs off!!!
    Thank you.

    Hi Monika,
Yes, after much searching around I did find the PPD file in the "Library - Printer - Content - Resources" section - but even though it is there - if I have my printer chosen as I normally would to print a full colour image, I do not have the PPD drop down highlighted , nor in the output - can I change that.
Does this file need to be located somewhere special for CS5 to recognise it?
    Thanks for the help.

  • [SOLVED] HPLIP- PPD file not found.

    Hello all,
I am trying to install an HP Officejet 5610 All-in-One. I have used HPLIP in Ubuntu before to install it and it worked fine. However, I do not seem to be able to get it to work here in Arch.
I installed hplip through pacman, which seemed to work fine.
    Upon typing:
    sudo hp-setup
I select USB as the printer I want to detect, and that goes fine. It sees that I have an 'HP Officejet 5600 series' and after clicking next I get a 'PPD file not found' error.
I try the 'Select Other' option, but there is no PPD file relating to the 5610 AIO or even the 5600 series. I also went to linuxprinting.org to try and find a PPD file, but there doesn't seem to be one for this printer.
As I say, I know that the printer/scanner/fax-everything worked just fine in Ubuntu, so I am sure that it can be accomplished here. I must just be missing something simple.
Does anyone have any idea as to how I can get the appropriate PPD file, or which one of the listed ones might work instead? The only Officejet that I see listed is the 'hp_officejet_9100_series-ps.ppd.gz', does that sound like a reasonable choice?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I should have mentioned that I am running Arch64, in case that has some bearing on the issue.

    Thanks for the reply.
Well this is all rather odd. I checked and I had chosen 'foomatic/hpijs'. So I tried printing this thread again. No more odd characters. Apart from some seriously awful fonts (it is not printing the fonts that I actually see on the page) the page prints more or less normal. Also though, the Arch Linux banner does not show up, and Home, Forums, etc. do but they don't print right. There should be a black and a blue bar over the Home, Forums, etc., but it doesn't show up. I tried printing a third time and got the same weird characters as the first time.
So what do you think the problem with this is? I find it strange that it almost works once, then works weird, and I'm sure if I try enough times I will get another decent page. So I am lost here. The scanner seems to be working fine though. So there is definite progress, after all the printer works now. I assume that it is some language of font problem. I really have no idea though. Any more help is appreciated. Thanks.
I was gonna include screenshots but I don't seem to be able to figure out how to do that. Help please

  • Ppd file for a canon mg5440

     Hi
I need the ppd file for a canon mg5440 printer to work on Linux Ubuntu 12.04
    Thank You

    Hello,
You can download the latest HPLIP in this website
Chances are, your Linux system already has the HPLIP software installed. That's because all major Linux distributions regularly pick up the HPLIP software and include it with their distribution installation.
On this website you can download the HPLIP software which supports 2,045 HP printers on nearly any Linux distribution available today.

  • PPD Files

    Need a PPD file:
This HP LaserJet 5100tn  post script printer is used to produce separations for offset printing.  We have had to update the computer  to Windows 7 Pro and I'm hoping someone  has found a PPD file for it as I haven't been successful in doing so.
We can still print using the PCL Universal Driver  but we need the PPD to make necessary changes to Line Screens, ets.

I just started having this problem today. I have no idea what may have changed with my installation. I thought it may have been file related but it is doing it with other ID files. What is happening is this: I'm trying to print a file I need to duplex. I go to print, choose my printer and hit the setup button at the bottom left. I then hit the preferences button so I can get to my duplex option and I get the following error msg:
Function address 0x39e3cac8 caused a protection fault. (exception code 0xc0000005) Some or all property page(s) may not be displayed.
I thought if I could check to see if it was PPD related but I cannot find where those files should be. I'm without the ability to duplex any of my ID print jobs. My work-around I guess would be to print the file as a PDF and print from that but I'd still like to solve this problem. Any suggestions would be welcome.

  • C7250 ppd file

I run a linux system and I recently had to reinstall my OS. I'm having problems getting my printer/scanner back up. I got a c7250 and I need a ppd file for it. Where can I get it?

    Hi @bmike1 ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read about your HP Photosmart C7280 and needing a document for Linux. Here is a document on Driver support for Linux OS.
Linux provides the drivers and program software for the OS.
I suggest posting your inquiry on the Ubuntu Forums.
    Thanks.

  • RE: Announcement: Included printer drivers and PostScript PPD files for Int

I have a printer on this list (HP Photosmart 375) connected via USB. When I attempt to add the printer, it shows up in Bonjour but no driver is located nor can it be manually selected using the Print Using menu. I've had no luck with the latest package from the HP site either.

Sorry- your post is confusing. Is the lost driver you refer to at the end of your post the original driver that came with your OS? If so, have you looked in Computer>System>Library>Printers to see if it is still there? Did you actually try installing the driver you downloaded from HP, or just downloaded it? Did you delete the driver that originally worked? The original driver should still be on your OS DVD/CD disc if that is where you got it- you could try an archive and install of the whole system (a bit drastic) or use a utility like Pacifist to "grab" all of the drivers from your OS disc and then reinstall them.

  • How can you change path for converted PPD files?  Default goes to /var/...

    Hi,
I'm pretty new to the Solaris 10 world and I'm attempting to troubleshoot some Xerox print issues. One of our Oracle Users may send a print job through with an HP Initialization String...yes you read that right, and cause the Printing services to Yo-Yo.
I've installed the Xerox Printer Administration Tool 4.30.28 and then installed the most current driver package. Thing is, either the services will still bounce or the job will not print. Understandable because of the HP Initialization String.
However, I tried using the Solaris Print Manager w/ a generic Xerox driver and the Print Services did not bounce. I thought then that I would try using the actual Xerox Workcentre 7655 driver by converting the driver from Xerox and using the PPDMgr tool. Thing is, I could figure out how to really change the path so that the driver would get dropped in the /usr/lib/lp/model/ppd/system/foomatic directory.
    Any way to do this?
    Thank you for your time,
    Mr Mister

    Hello Eric
I am using the "UserDefinedErrorsDir" in LabVIEW 7.1 /7.1.1 Windows and Linux.
But there is a "syntax" problem. Let me explain this:
    If you enter
    UserDefinedErrorsDir=C:\
into your LabVIEW.ini File, LabVIEW will not search the Files in your C:\      Directory...
LabVIEW search the *-errors.txt Files in the
    C:\errors\
    Directory!
That mean that you have to create a folder with the name errors in your UserDefinedErrorsDir and after that you only have to copy all your *-errors.txt Files into this folder.

  • LW 16/1600 .ppd file install

I have an LaserWriter 16/1600 w/an AsanteTalk box connected to Ethernet. I want to get it printing in OS 10.4.11
I downloaded the Apple-LaserWriter16600-Postscript.ppd from http://www.linuxfoundation.org/ and the LW8500_PPD1.2.smi.bin from Apple.
They're on my desktop and I don't know what to do with them.
They open in Printer Setup Utility.app
I don't know where to go from there.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Shamus

The AAUI RJ45 Twisted-pair Transceiver is available on the used market, for example on eBay.
Ebay search for (Apple,AAUI) (RJ45,twisted) -(card,AppleTalk,"Apple Talk",comm, usb, cable) in Computers and Networking.
When that LaserWriter was released, the Ethernet Media wars were still on. there was Thick coax with a cable-TV modulator, one or two cable thin coax, Token Ring, and twisted-pair. Twisted Pair eventually won.
AppleTalk does not use IP Addresses, so you will not get far using an IP Address with the AsanteTlak.

  • I Can't find ppd file for HP LaserJet M1120 MP in my MAC OS 10.5

I can not find a PPD driver for HP LaserJet M1120 when I add the printer in my MAC, I have tried to use other PPD drivers, for 1220, 1200, and tryied to use generic laserjet driver etc. Almost tried all PPD drivers on the list...
I hope someone could have some hints on what PPD driver to use, or have a PPD driver for LaserJet M1120
    Thanks
    Lars

I do see the share printer, so it works to "add it as a new" printer, but it do not automatically detect correct drivers som I am trying different drivers, but it do not work. As said, I do see the printjob come up on the printerqueue on the PC.
Then I saw below on sourceforge.net, regarding gutenprint drivers for this printer, seems that there are non gutenprint drivers, and probably not in the future either..
I am also in contact with HP support, but they are really useless in providing help/support...
So a bit tired on this!. Thank you for your hints and tips!

Driver for HP LaserJet M1120 MFP
    By: Flávio Dourado (fsdourado) - 2009-01-26 21:04
Which driver do I select for connecting my HP LaserJet M1120 MFP to MacOS X Leopard? No one looks like it on GutenPrint 5.2.3...
RE: Driver for HP LaserJet M1120 MFP

The Gutenprint drivers do not support this device. There are Mac OS X drivers on the HP website.
This printer seems to use a host based driver with JBIG based on what I can find in the software technical reference for the product. It is doubtful that Gutenprint will ever support this printer.
