.olb object library cannot open file in 11g - migration from 10g to 11g
I have an object library (.olb) that will not open in Foras 11.1.1.2.0. It opens fine in 10g. I have tried converting it to ascii (.olt) but it will not creat the binary filie in 11g - get PDE-PER001 Internal Error (cakaa 2) when I try to convert any ascii file from 10g into 11g.
I have tried using frmplsqlconv, the conversion tool on .olb but get following error when it is run: ERROR opening easstnd.olb :oracle.forms.jdapi.JdapiStatusException: Failed to load olb
Check subclass and library dependencies
Any help appreciated!
Kim
Kim,
We are not migrating yet, and we have not started converting all our forms and reports, but for the tests we have done, I never had to use frmplsqlconv (in fact, I don't know what it is). What I have done is:
1) As I told you before, I copied everything (forms, reports, etc.) we have to a new location.
2) I opened ALL the pll files with Builder 11g, saved them, and generated the plx files. The only problem I encountered here was that with some plls, Forms Builder crashed when opening them. I had to open those with Forms Builder 10g, and remove program units one by one until I found the culprit. After removing the program unit causing the crash, I opened the pll successfully with Forms Builder 11g, and created the program unit I had deleted.
3) After all plls were generated, I opened the forms I wanted to test, saved them, and generated the fmx files.
4) Same thing with reports (rdf and jsp files).
I have never gotten an error in Builder when closing plls, and we don't have either .fmt or .pld files.

After Migrating from 10g to 11g Geeting problems with Guided navigations.
After Migrating from 10g to 11g Geeting problems with Guided navigations and section navigations not working.
And we are getting the following error <<odbc driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW)>> where we have used navigations.
In 10G we have Guided navigation Reports to display the Reports links and intermediate reports for conditionally displaying the Dashboard section(Reports) but after migrating to 11g Guided navigation reports and conditional reports are not working..
We know that in 11g section navigation replaced with conditions and Guided navigation replaced with action link.. but
do we need to recreate those reports in actions and condition or is there any work around avoid reworking.Hi Both,
Thanks for the reply ...
For Guided navigation we are getting like below error:
Odbc driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW).
For Conditional dashboard section we are getting like below error:

Edited by: user9976446 on Mar 1, 2011 5:20 AMHi Jaya,
I think it's a layout problem, the table component or the outer component around the table is set to some default width value (300px?). Try setting the width explicitly to something larger, or see if you can use a stretchable layout component around the table.
If you post the code from your page here we might be able to say more.

Application has problems when migrated from 10g to 11g
Hi there,
I am hoping someone can shed some light on a problem I have in moving an application from Oracle 10g to Oracle 11g. The app works fine on 10g (uses Apache webserver with PL/SQL module, and APEX 3.1.2.00.2), but on 11g using the embedded web server and APEX 3.2.0.00.27, it doesnt. Most of the app works fine, but there are a couple of pages that provide the ability to add child rows to a parent/child relationship, where the parameter passing mechanism from one page to the next appears to suffer from some sort of corruption. I have traced this using the "session" and "debug" buttons on the developer interface, which show that the values of the parameters get changed inexplicably, when branching from one page to the next - even when the page is actually branching to itself.
I am using the "Set these items, "With these values" fields in the branch, and have verified that the correct values are being associated with the correct items in the application builder. But while this does work correctly under 10g, with 11g, the wrong values end up being passed. Just prior to the branch the set of parameters have the correct values, but immediately after the branch, one of the values is NULL, another has the value of a different item, and a third has a totally random value - I have no idea were it comes from!
I migrated the application from 10g to 11g using the APEX application developer's Export/Import options. There have been no other changes. Should this have worked? If so, any ideas what might have gone wrong?
Thanks,
Sid.Well, I managed to solve this, but not in a way that makes much sense.
In desperation (I had tried almost everything else!) I changed the value of "Cached" in the page settings from "No" to "Yes", and ran the app, but the page didnt render correctly (in either Firefox or IE7) - in fact all that displayed was the developers toolbar at the bottom of the page. I changed the value of "Cached" back to "Y", ran the app again, and hey presto - everything worked fine! I actually did this a second time with a fresh import of the app from 10g, just to be sure I wasnt seeing things. I wasnt!
There was just one further issue - everything worked fine apart from this section of code in a page process:-
ELSIF (:p9_filter_type = 5) THEN
IF (:p9_x_gene_list IS NOT NULL) THEN
:p9_filter := :p9_x_gene_list;
END IF;
:p9_entity_types := 'GENE';
END IF;
In 11g the value of :p9_entity_types was not being set to 'GENE' when :p9_filter_type was 5. This was (and still is) working in 10g. I changed the code as follows:-
ELSIF (:p9_filter_type = 5) THEN
:p9_entity_types := 'GENE';
IF (:p9_x_gene_list IS NOT NULL) THEN
:p9_filter := :p9_x_gene_list;
END IF;
END IF;
... and now it works fine in 11g as well.
Only wish I knew why! -

Error ORA-24247 after migrating from 10g to 11g
Hi all,
After a migration from a 10.2.0.3 (32bits) database to a 11.2.0.3 (64bits) database, we are facing a problem related to the UTL_SMTP package. I vale already created a ACL, as you can see below:
-- create acl
BEGIN
DBMS_NETWORK_ACL_ADMIN.CREATE_ACL (acl => 'user_processos.xml',
description => 'abc',
principal => 'PROCES',
is_grant => TRUE,
privilege => 'connect');
END;
-- assign acl
BEGIN
DBMS_NETWORK_ACL_ADMIN.ASSIGN_ACL (acl => 'user_processos.xml'
host => 'rac-abc',
lower_port => 1521,
upper_port => NULL);
END;The problem is: After we try to execute a procedure that calls UTL_SMTP, with user PROCES the error ORA-24247 is raised. I did some research and they all point to the it is necessary to create an ACL to solve this probles, but the ACL already exists, as you can see above.Hi,
I had the same issue, well multiple issues, with this at first. You should find the solution in one of these links. Make sure you have done each step in the lists and it will work.
[url http://www.ora00600.com/scripts/databaseconfig/ORA-29278.html]ORA-29278 SMTP
[url http://www.ora00600.com/scripts/11g/UTL_SMTP_ORA-06512.html]ORA-06512: at SYS.UTL_SMTP
There are various parameters and configuration steps you need to make sure you have performed for it to work.
Hopefully that helps,
Rob

We have an ongoing debate over the merits of switching to securefile LOBS. This is Oracle recommended approach but what are the main benefits?
Thsi would allow parallel impdp to take place also has benefit for compression, but are there any other driving factors to consider?The fact that a hacking solution works well with a particular binary file on a particular database does not guarantee that it will not destroy another file and another database beyond repair. In case this happens, people will call Oracle Support for help. And Oracle Support may refuse (though it tries not to do this without reason) to help with such a corrupted database. This is a consequence of "unsupported" modifications to binary files. Therefore, publishing this type of advice with little or no word of warning nor disclaimer is simply irresponsible (especially, if simpler and supported solutions exist).
I did not suggest that you should waste time checking if your particular solution had already been documented or not but I did suggest that you see if the methods you proposed were documented. And, frankly speaking, this is not what an Oracle DBA should really have to check. I also cannot believe that you are not aware that modification of files in any undocumented binary format (not only Oracle's) is generally unsupported. And, while common and somehow acceptable in low-risk home or research applications, such modifications are a bad idea in high-risk production business use.

Elapsed time went up from 1min to 22min after migrating from 10g to 11g
I just migrated one of my database from 10.2.0.2(Red hat Linux, 2 node RAC, sga= 1Gb) to 11.2.0.1 (red Hat Linux 2 Node RAC, SGA=7GB)
The timing for one of the specific query shoot up from 1min to 22 min.
Following is the query:
SELECT /*+ gather_plan_statistics */ docr.DRCONTENT
FROM WRPADMIN.T_DOCREPORT docr, WRPADMIN.t_document doc
WHERE doc.docid = docr.docid
AND 294325 = doc.rdocid
AND ( ( ( (EXISTS
(SELECT 'X'
FROM WRPADMIN.t_mastermap mstm1,
WRPADMIN.t_docdimmap docdim1
WHERE doc.docid = mstm1.docid
AND mstm1.dimlvlid = 2
AND mstm1.mstmapid = docdim1.mstmapid
AND docdim1.dimid IN (86541))))
OR (EXISTS
(SELECT 'X'
FROM WRPADMIN.t_mastermap mstm2,
WRPADMIN.t_docdimmap docdim2
WHERE doc.rdocid = mstm2.rdocid
AND mstm2.dimlvlid = 1
AND mstm2.mstmapid = docdim2.mstmapid
AND docdim2.dimid IN (28388)))))
ORDER BY doc.DOCIDThe select field (docr.DRCONTENT) is a CLOB column.

Edited by: dm_ptldba on Oct 8, 2012 7:50 AMIf you check lines 2, 3, 8, and 13 in the 10g plan you will see that Oracle has operated your two EXISTS subqueries separately (there is a bug with multiple filter subqueries in that version that indents each subquery after the first one extra place, so the shape of the plan is a little deceptive). The statistics show that the second subquery only ran once because existence was almost always satistfied by the first.
In the 11g plan, lines 2, 3, and 9 show that the optimizer has transformed your TWO subqueries into a single subquery, then turned transformed the single subquery into a concatenation and this has, in effect, made it execute both subqueries for every row from the driving table - all the extra work appears from the redundant execution of the thing that was the second EXISTS subquery.
If you extract the OUTLINE from the execution plans (add 'outline' to the call to dbms_xplan as one of the format options) you may see some hint that shows the optimizer combining the two subqueries - if so then put in the "NO_xxx" hint to block it. Alternatively you could simply try adding the hint stop ALL cost-based query transformations /*+ no_query_transformation */

Directory structure and files in Oracle Application server 10g and 11g
Hi all,
I am doing a lab migration from 10g to 11g based on the use of JAXB. There were some directory structures used in 10g to store the JAXB jar files and some other custom jar files. I want to know the equivalent folder structures in SOA 11g server. The 10g server directories are mentioned below:-
1.<OracleAS_Home>\webservices\lib.
2. server.xml located at <OracleAS_Home>\j2ee\home\config in 10g. Where can I find the equivalent file to "server.xml" in 11g server?
3. <OracleAS_Home>\bpel\system\classes\com\oracle\bpel\xml\util.
4. <OracleAS_Home> \bpel\system\classes.Here are the equivalents as per best of my knowledge:
1. <WebLogic Home>\server\lib
For example, D:\Middleware\wls1036\wlserver_10.3\server\lib
2. config,xml located at <Domain_Home>\config\
For example, D:\Middleware\wls1036\user_projects\domains\ArunBaseDomain1036\config\config.xml
3. It should be the same as 10g (instead of OracleAS_Home, it will be ORACLE_Home) if you install the BPEL product. Since, I have not installed BPEL/SOA, I am not very sure.
4. It should be the same as 10g (instead of OracleAS_Home, it will be ORACLE_Home) if you installed the BPEL product.
Also, I would recommend that you consider using ORACLE Smart Upgrade (JDeveloper component) to help you with the upgrade process. It exactly points out these mappings of file/directory structures AND the necessary configuration changes as well.
If you are requirement, is only about making the library jars available to your application, then consider reading the below discussion.
