Old 3D Dreams Xtras

Hello, everyone! I'm trying to get an old (1999) .dcr to work. I've got all the Xtras it needs except for two called thus:
3DDreams.x32
3ddplay.x32
These are old 3D (Pre-Shockwave3DAsset) Xtras called "Shells Interactive's 3D Dreams Player". They were originally available from ftp://download.doitin3d.com/xtras/3ddplay (as I found out by decompressing the .dcr with Offzip). But this server's been down for years and years, and the Wayback Machine didn't have these Xtras conserved. So, if any of you Shockwave oldfags out there still have these Xtras stored somewhere around your harddrive, please reply!
Also, it requests 3 Xtras that I could find no mention of anywhere, including its own decompressed bytecode. These are:
Viewport, Persona, and Binary Data.
I highly suspect that they have something to do with the Shells 3D Xtras. If anyone knows something about these Xtras, please reply!

I still have Rich Shupe’s Xtras book from 1997, and the CD does include the 3D Dreams file. The file in the disc is named “3ddpr3.exe”, and I would guess that it’s an installer for the Xtra.

Director Flash 8 xtra breaks shared object and onSync

This one has driven me insane for days, but at least now I
know what the problem is. It's really a Director-Flash8 xtra-FMS
problem, but I figure the best chance for a solution is posting it
here.
The problem is this: The Director Flash 8 xtra update messes
up remote shared object connections to FMS applications. The
Management Console debugger does not show any SO properties ("no
data"), and only the "clear" onSync event fires. The old Flash 7
xtra worked/works fine. To illustrate, I've tested the following
code in the Director message window with both the v8 and v7 xtra
(if you know Actionscript and not Lingo, it's still easy to figure
out what happens here). It basically creates and connects a remote
shared object on FMS:

If I translated this into actionscript and ran it in Flash 8

but it took me a while to get this far. Is it simply a matter of
permission or firewall setting? Or is it something just broken with
the Director flash 8 xtra?

As of just last week, Adobe can replicate the problem and is
"working on it". I don't anticipate a shockwave-flash-xtra update
to come out of this, but perhaps they can identify some other
work-around. If you can avoid using "success" onSync events and
don't need shared object debugging, then FMS works with
Director/Flash 8 xtra... but this may be a symptom of yet more bugs
that I haven't seen.
I'm stopping development on my FMS/Director project until
this is resolved... I may need to crack open the old Multi User
xtra.

ZEN Nomad Xtra 3

Before I begin with my new to me year old Zen Nomag xtra Jukebox I have a couple questions. Will the player automatically update after the software is installed if there is a newer version available? I think the software provided is a year old but am not sure. How do I find that out? thanks

I would have to say mainly firmware if you want to, it's not a need.... The newest firmware makes the device completely MTP compatible which is helpful and nice since many things like the Xbox 360 and Windows XP don't have any other driver.

I need HELP! Zen sle

I recently (about 3 weeks ago) got a Sleek Photo, and I love it. No problems with the player itself.
My problem:
My home computer previously didn't have windows xp, so for a couple weeks after I got the Sleek, I used my laptop with xp to transfer songs to the player and such, and it was fast/worked great. Then I got a new home computer this past week, brand new, .0 gb ram, 250 gb hard dri've (!!!great upgrade from the old 20gb but thats beside the point). It's a good computer. BUTTTT, Mediasource takes FOREVER to load my library from my Sleek, and the program looks like it's not responding (but it is responding). Then, when I'm transferring songs (once I actually get to that point), it takes ages. Each song transfers very fast, but the pending and processing stages take a long long time. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling all my Creative programs, and Mediasource loaded a little faster the first time, but it's slow again and so are the transfers.

Ok, changing the virtual memory to 2048 helped a little. Is that going to mess with anything else on my computer though? I don't want to put other programs at risk just to have my zen work. The music loads on the zen within an acceptable time (but it's still slower than on the laptop, and slower than my old zen xtra on my OLD [piece of crap] computer). The song transfer is going a little better but it still takes about a minute to transfer 5 songs or so, which is slower than the laptop or the old computer/zen xtra. When it's transferring, when it switches from "Pending" to "Writing," it stays on 0% for a long time, maybe 0-5 seconds, then the song pretty much transfers instantly.
This is really getting on my nerves.

Started a six months free subskription eight weeks ago, never got it running depending on driver issues. Today I managed to download appropriate drivers and whoops it started to wake up. I was informed that it had expired, funny I thought, but I made a new subscription an payed for one year for five units. Couldn´t get it verified when using my new Code. And now I was informed that I still have 112 days left (!!!) on my free version. Tried that old Code for the free version, but still not approved.Using a desktop with Windows 7 64-bit and as an old man dreaming me back to old times when there were no f-ng computers annoying us and all the people were happy.I want to be happy again so please young skillful PC freaks, assist this sad old guy! Zen Microphoto Questi

I just bought the Zen Microphoto to replace my old Nomad Zen Xtra 40Gig.
The sound quality between the two is the same.
Some problems Ive been having with the Xtra is that there is a pixel or two that dies off randomly and sometimes a song restarts by itself.
I have some questions on the Microphoto...
) What is the resolution for photos/wallpapers? (60x60?)
2) Is there a way to make customs themes? (I would like to see some transparent bars. like in the top so that the top of the wallpaper isnt blocked)
3) Why cant I look at photos, while listening to music? (Doesnt it put the mp3 into a buffer/ram so it wont have to read the HD all the time to save power?)
Overall, I love Creative products and Im highly anti-apple. =)

I have another question...
When you add a track or playlist to the "Selected"...how can you look at the Selected list?
On my Nomad Zen Xtra, there is a Selected Music menu option so I can see the list of songs I want to hear..yet I can find a menu item like that in the ZMP.
After I add my playlist to the selected, and lets say I used the shuffle mode and came across a song in the middle of the playlist. Then I want to listen to a song that appears after the song that is playing right now. The way I used to do it is open up the list of selected music, scroll down once, and boom...the song I want is playing. Now, when that happens in the ZMP, I have to open the playlist, scroll all the way to middle and find that song. Creative ZEN X-FI Wi-Fi (32GB) - Wi-Fi streaming/download prob

Hi,
I'm a first time Creative user and decided to buy this player as opposed to the iPod Touch and other players. Its a great little player and I love everything about it, EXCEPT..
The online (wi-fi) function doesn't seem to be working properly. I can access MediaBox perfectly fine, however when I try to access my Media Server (which I activated through Creative Centrale), it wont stream or download any files. I can browse through the folders and see the files, but when I try to play (stream) a track, it buffers for second then sto
ps.
It doesn't actually play any sound. When I try to download the file, it simply freezes and I have to reset the device.
I'm very furstrated as streaming was the reason I went for this player and now it won't work.
I'm using a Linksys WRT54GSV.4 router if that hel

They fixed a bug that could have prevented the proper playback with some files. No more video types are supported by this firmware.
This firmware also once again enhanced the X-Fi Crystalizer feature (although it is not stated in the official description by Creative). It unfolds its full potential now IMO. The Creative Zen X-Fi has perfect sound quality.
@ Creative staff: Why is there no possibility to move a single track up/down in my playback list?
Even the old "Jukebox Zen Xtra" had this important feature.
Also why is the Zen X-Fi missing the ability to record from radio? The predecessor - the Zen - can do it (and the devices have many technical specifactions in common).
Also, I hope we'll get a T9 support for the nine buttons in the near future because the input method Creative technicians suggested is very uncomfortable.

Losing Track ID when xfering from Computer to Creative Zen X

I have an old Creative Zen Xtra (30 gig). I am running an old version of Creative Media Source (2.0.07). I am using a version of Mp3Tag to create tags for my mp3's. When I use the Import Function, I am getting all my tag info (genre, album, artist and title name). But it is not carrying over my mp3 track number in the tag. All the resultant tag id's come up as zeros (0).
Any suggestions would be appreciated

Media Monkey and Foobar 2000 allow you to write out the proper Mp3's.

Limited functions supported from Flash?

I have a flash file that I've imported into a Director
project. It imports correctly and the animations play correctly,
but interactivity seems to be lost. In the original Flash, you can
roll over objects and click on them to move to new screens. There
are no rollover animations in the imported version, and you can't
click on anything.
Is that expected behavior for Flash? I didn't make the
original piece so I don't know much about how it was coded.

Actually I tried updating a copy of Director recently, using
this link:

However the updater seemed to only update the shockwave
player, and not Director itself. I was able to get the flash 8
asset xtra working in Director however, by copying the newer flash
asset xtra out of the shockwave xtras folder
(C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Shockwave 10\Xtras) and pasting it
over the old flash asset xtra in the Director xtras folder
(C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Director MX 2004\Configuration\Xtras).
So now I can use flash 8 content, but my version of director
still remains at 10.1
Have I missed something, or is the updater link pointing to
the wrong file?
By the way, installing the flash 8 asset xtra in the way
seems to
break flash components! I never use flash components, so I
haven't looked into this much, but it seems like something that
could be a bit of a problem if you do use them!

Director + Flash + FLVs BUG

Hi.
I know this happened to a few people already, but does anyone
know how to fix this problem, a hack maybe?
We have created a video loop in director, when you hit any
key or move the mouse, director calls the FLA file, that's works
fine.
When you click on a btn things move -in to the screen and
inside of that screen you see options to play some movies, when you
click on the movies (FLV's) will load and it would work just fine.
But if you go to another part of the website and come back to the
one screen where you just seen the FLVs it won't play. If you come
out of it and come back to it again that FLV loads
it happends every other time... It seems that the
FLV's won't reload through director properly, I tried setting a
clear interval and it didn't work at all, is there anyway to get
around this and can re-start the FLV's?........
The other crazy thing is that SWF file will play flawless
through a browser or a from the SWF player... but it goes wrong
once it's placed in Director... Any thoughts on that anyone???

A question regarding the old connector (headphones jack) used in SE headphones models.

I liked the idea of MH907 , and I both them. Was very satisfied with the motion
activated feature - even if they didnt have the superbass feature like the ones
that were included in the package when I both the w380i phone.
Then I had a few problems with charging the "older" phone - I was using it for 3 years
and had to buy a new one. With limited resources at that moment, I got SPIRO.
Line in or 3,5mm or the connector changed during that period, to standard 3,5mm - just like
other phone ( walkman, ipod ... etc ) manufactures use. So I was unable to use perfectly
good headphones from previous phone and MH907 with my SPIRO.
Normally I didnt argue so much and both new ones - at the time decided for MH700.
Recently, when I lost ( or forgot them somewhere ) my MH700 - btw I was also satisfied
with them , good sound quality, I started searching for new ones online, in the local stores.
I saw a few products available, and was ( still am ) interested in HPM 88.
Noise canceling and superior sound quality speakers are surely a very good option,
but I noticed ( after looking at the pictures online and checking the compatible phones )
- the HPM 88 heaphones also have the old connector.
I asked this question before, but only mentioned MH907 - the answer was : " there are no
such plans " .
Now I ask SE or/and SE Xtras manufacturers again :
Are there any plans to make (the same) older model headphones with new connector ?
If not, is there an alternative solution with an aditional plugin to convert old connector
to a 3,5mm in ( without sound quality loss ) ?

Yes, yeah ; once again I agree with you - "over the ear" or lets say normal speakers are prefered choice in studios and professional work with music. It is hard to reach the sound quality with in-ear headphones that the "old fashioned" headphones offer, but in these modern days possible.
When I saw the monitor in-ear SONY headphones online and in SONY local store - you probably know that 50€ is the starting point (the cheapest EX monitor headphones), and reaches up to 500 €
with the best possible head set, I said to myself - surely there is a reasson for such a price.
SONY products are well known for its quality, and headphones with a price of a bit less then "minimum monthly income in our country" surely offer unique sound experience and listening pleasure(s) that I can only dream about at the moment.
I not a producer and I dont make music for a living - but when it comes to outdoor excercise with my bike,walks in the nature and/or just sitting outdoors and smoking - I just can not imagine having big "old fashined" headphones on my head ( an answer why I would prefer in-ear model ) .
I listen to the radio ( with mostly electronic music - but also lots of popular (and new ) songs from pop, rap to rock and metal - where voice and lirics are important and I want to hear them as good as I can. I also listen to harder, faster genres of electronic music like trance, techno and in that kind of genre its more if not all about a good bass line.
So If I quicly finish this post -> MH - 700 are a very good product for an affordable price. I was very satisfied untill I lost/missplaced (or something similar) them. Compared to ones included with SPIRO (both the phone in a package with local (slovenian) mobile carrier ) is like comparing HONDA TO A YUGO if you know what I mean. I would recommend them to every person who wants a bit more from listening to music - but cant afford an expensive headphones.
As for the "long" cord problem -> Did you ever want to reach for something while listening to music and could not, due the short cord ? It happened to me a few times. At least I can shorten that cord with a plastic tensioner or double wrap them around my neck - at least with that way I will not lose them again............. :_) " problem (at least with me) erupts when the cord is to short , not to long "

12 Month Old iPad 2 Running Rather Slowly?

I own an iPad 2, and I have done so for about 12 months now. Now, when I bought it, it was running iOS 4.3, I believe, and it worked like a dream. Everything was smooth, apps ran perfectly - everything was great. However, when I upgraded to iOS 5, I noticed a substantial decrease in speed. I thought it might get quicker with iOS 5.1 - no such luck. I thought maybe it would get quicker with iOS 5.1.1 - again, no such luck. Is there any reason as to why this is? It seems like it is just me though, as I always hear people (such as tech reviewers) saying their iPad 2s still run fine, and they also have 32GB iPads. But mine... mine just seems slow, for basic things.
Safari can be really slow sometimes. Even closing a tab can take up to 5 seconds, same with tapping in the search or URL bars. And that's always how it's been. I've tried taking off loads of videos/apps - no such luck. The four/five finger gestures can also be unresponsive - I'll pinch to go to the home screen, and quite often it'll lag (probably about twice a day on average). Sometimes, when you have done this, all the icons on the home screen will have disappeared, and you'll just get the app names - they come back after a second, but it is weird. Sometimes I have even seen the bar at the top disappear, which is rather weird. Same with the multitasking gestures. Occasionally these gestures won't even work, after two or three times of trying, or the animation won't happen - this just happened as I tried pinching out of Game Center. Tapping into/out of a folder - even that lags! You'll see the folder stop halfway through opening, then fully open. You tap out of the folder, and sometimes it'll do similar to tapping into a folder. In fact, I just tested it then, and it stuttered slightly as it closed the folder. It's really irritating, and I don't understand why it does it. Sliding between home screens! Lags. Even tapping on an app causes it to lag. You'll tap on an app, and see its darkened, tapped version for a few seconds, and then it'll open - this isn't supposed to happen! This is the sort of quality I expect from Android, not "the world's most advanced mobile OS"!
The Music app. Don't get me started. It's terrible! Scrolling is a pain. Trying to listen to a song is a pain. Viewing the album art is a pain. It's just not what I expect. And iTunes Match has messed up my Library. Before Match and iTunes in the Cloud, I could see all the album artwork, and my library looked great. Now, I see a few albums with artwork, and others with horrible stave artwork. This even happens for music on my iPad sometimes, which is extremely annoying. The stores are also rather laggy - iTunes, Apps and iBooks - but I can almost let them off, as they are having to go over the internet. But tapping in the search bar can take quite a while to load, which is frustrating.
Right, well I'm sure you get the picture by now. I just wanted to show you how widespread these errors are, and I'm wondering what solutions/options there are available to me as to how they can be fixed. I'll eliminate two for you now:
- Getting a new iPad - can't afford it as I'm saving up for a Mac
- Going to a Genius Bar - possible, but I live 50 miles away from the three closest Apple Stores to me, and I don't really want to spend the whole day sat at a 'bar' trying to solve my iPad's issues.
I could try resetting my iPad, I suppose, but I have done this before, and it hasn't really helped - it's just be an inconvenience. So what would you recommend? I don't want to be forced to move to a Microsoft Surface or anything like that just yet, as I still like my iPad - it's just that it's always been a little weary and sluggish on iOS 5. I hope you can help, I apologise for the length of this topic, and I look forward to hearing your answers/suggestions.

The symptom you describe is what happens when you plug an iPad into a PC/Mac USB port. It's not enough wattage to charge the iPad. When the screen shuts off it can then trickle charge the iPad albeit very slowly. I concur with "imanog", sounds like you have the wrong charger.
Make sure the charger says 10W USB Power Adapter printed in small light grey print on the edge of the charger. Try borrowing some elses iPad charger and cable. Check the cable for any visible damage. Try a different AC outlet or power strip. Take flashlight and inspect the dock connector. If there is a piece of lint in there, that could be interferring in the dock cable from making a good connection. Take an old dry toothbrush and gently clean any debris from the dock connector port on the iPad, this is more an issue with iPhones because people stuff them in their pockets and pick up lint in the dock port.
If all else fails, call Apple or schedule a Genius bar visit to have it checked out. It is possible that the power circuit inside the iPad cannot properly detect the power adaptor. There is some smarts involved where the iPad will sense the type of power it's connected to. It should be under warranty from any defects.
