Old Apple ID lost, can't update to Aperture 3.5

I downloaded Aperture onto my computer from an Apple ID that I no longer use. The email tied to that ID is inaccessible to me now. I (apparently) forgot the password to the Apple ID, and can't have a verification email sent to it.
How delighted I was to find, then, that Mavericks would bar me from using the 3.4 version of Aperture! Is there NO way to access the update apart from my old (inacessible) Apple ID? If not, why isn't there? Could Apple go ahead and make that possible?
Thanks for you help!

I have an App I purchased two iPhones ago with an old Apple ID (I don't remember the password).  The App has trasnferred, but I can't update it.  Is there any  way to link it to my current Apple ID and update it?

No, you will be unable to link Apple IDs, if you are unable to remember the password you will need to purchase it on your current Apple ID.

There is no such thing.  Please explain what is really meant by the above statement.

  • I downloaded pages with an old apple id, now i cant update to ios5 with my new apple id

I downloaded pages with an old apple id, now i cant update to ios5 with my new apple id

Content is tied to the account that bought/downloaded it and it can't be copied or transferred to a different account - for apps only that account can download updates to them. So if you downloaded it via one account and then created a new account, you will need to use the original account to download updates or authorise it on your computer's iTunes.

I understand that after renewing your iTunes Match subscription, you are not able to access your music as you would expect. To troubleshoot this situation, I would recommend reading over and working through the information in the attached article.

  • My iCloud mail is used in my old apple id, how can i move my old iCloud mail to my new apple id

my iCloud mail is used in my old apple id, how can i move my old iCloud mail to my new apple id

If the old ID is yours, and if it is an earlier version of your current ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

If you mean you changed your iTunes Store account ID, you can't update any apps purchased under your old account.

  • I have an old ibook G4, how can I update my OS?

I have an old ibbok G4, how can I update my OS to a newer version?

The Tiger 10.4(.11) is a fine operating system and so far probably the longest running one up to now. It was updated several more times until they got Leopard 10.5; and coincidentally, part of that time was when intel-based macs were being developed, and they shipped with a special build version of Tiger. You'd need the retail Tiger install DVD. And a later download of Combo update 10.4.11.
You could to an 'archive and install' that would install a new System Folder, and leave the older one in the hard disk drive for you to look at awhile and wonder what to do with it; there is a way (I've forgotten) on how to re-use some of that stuff. When upgrading from Panther several years ago, I decided to make a clone of the Panther on an externally enclosed hard disk drive with a FireWire connection, that has its own power supply, and has an oxford-type chipset to allow for Mac OS X booting from there. So a clone (carbon copy cloner) was used to make a complete system clone on the external drive. I tested it several times to be sure, then I erased the hard disk drive in the iBook (and other computers, I had an iMac G4, too) and installed the main system, then added the Combo update to 10.4.11, and the last security updates available, then reinstalled my applications. Some applications like Tiger better, and some were made for later OS X. Now the trail is cold on support but Tiger 10.4.11 is much superior to Panther 10.3.9. A totally better experience.
    {The advantage of an upgrade if you have other retail application installers, is the totally clean install gives you a chance to secure erase and overwrite one-pass zeros on the hard disk drive, and reformat it. But if you upgrade by archive & install, you have all those older applications, but have to figure out how to use them in the new system, which is in its own new folder. The older OS X won't boot, so later it would be put to trash.}
I was able to use Pacifist to reinstall some of the original applications from the older restore-install DVD the computer shipped with, as it can extract items from an install DVD without running the Installer, and it will install them from the desktop. But for a novice, this may not be a good idea.
Anyway, I suggest you start a new thread to address this upgrade question as it warrants due consideration.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • I purchased original software with another apple id. how can i access the old apple id in order to update software

I purchased my macbook air and pre-installed software under my work apple id number. i have been unable to update software on this computer with my home apple id. how can i switch to my work id so that i can install upgrades to original software?

You can only update software using the same Apple ID it was purchased from.

  • IPhone is asking for an old Apple ID's password when updating apps.

So here's a strange thing.  I have two Apple IDs.  As far as I can tell, everything is set-up to use only 1 of those IDs, and the other, I just don't even touch. But when purchasing or updating apps on my iPhone, it asks me for the password of teh Apple ID account that I don't use. I know you can't delete an Apple ID account (which I find VERY annoying!), so does anyone know how I can just completely migrate to the primary account so it stops asking me for my old password on the old account?
Edit: This question is posted using my old account because I can't seem to log into discussions or communities with the new one.  What the heck?!

My understanding thus far is that each App purchase is tied to only the xact Apple ID that was used to purchase it.  So supposedly if you change your Apple ID those Apps bought on the Old Apple ID are not transferable to a new Apple ID.  The reason for this would be that otherwise people could endlessly share their purchased Apps with other Users with different Apple ID's, who would not have to pay for the use of the Apps.
    Hope this helps

  • Changed Apple ID, but can't update it on iMac

    Hello,
My apple id was created before I had any apple products (using itunes on pc), and I just used a spam email account.  Years later, I wanted to update it to an appropriate email address, since I now have an iphone, imac, ipad, etc.
With a little magic and curse words, I got it changed successfully on my iphone and ipad.  But I am unable to get it to change on my iMac.  I get notifications often that I need to enter the password, but I am powerless to make it work.
    I have Yosemite 10.10.3.
On the iCloud panel I am trying to "sign out" and delete the account - and that goes okay until it wants a password to turn off "Find my Mac" - I've tried both old and new passwords, but nothing works.  I tried logging in to the icloud account online and going to the "find my" section, but there is no option for removing the computer from the find tool.
What can I do to update the apple id on my computer?
    Thanks!

If you updated your existing account then try logging out of it on the iPad by tapping on the id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores on iOS 6) and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on the iPad.
If you created a new account then any content that you purchased/downloaded via the old account will remain tied to that old account, and only that old account can download updates to its apps.

  • I have some apps with old email address so can't update..what can i do

I cant update some apps as hey have an old email address no longer in use. How can I solve this?

    Content is forever tied to the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one Apple ID to another. Apple does not merge Apple IDs. You will never be able to access your content bought with another Apple ID with a new ID. You need to revive the old Apple ID by changing the email address associated with it;
