Old Apple ID used to sign in for App Store

My iPhone 5s will not let me update any of my Apps because it's asking for an old Apple ID.  I can't remember that password.  I have a new Apple ID that I have set up under General for everything, including the App store.
I deleted that app that was purchased using the old Apple ID, but I still can't update the Apps.  When you open the App Store, and scroll down to Favorites , the NEW ID is listed  but it still wants the OLD ID to update Apps.
I logged into ALL of my Apple IDs (my phone, husband's phone, kids' iPod, and the iPad) and made sure the Old ID was not listed anywhere.  It's not.
How can I get rid of the OLD Apple ID and sign in using the NEW ID for updates?
Thanks!

The mistake was creating a new Apple ID, rather than changing the email address on the old one, or recovering the password for the old one. If you had done either of these there would be no problem with the apps acquired using the old ID, as the apps are associated with the account, not the email address that you used at the time you got them.

  • Sign in for apps store issues on iphor

Can sign in for apps on mac, pad but not iphone. Keeps asking me to sign in. I do but never takes. Can not buy apps. Can buy music on phone.

I expect the Apple Servers are getting Hammered, just leave it a few hours and try again.  I have been lucky and got all my devices upgraded and apps updated.

  • Can I use a different ID for app store than icloud on iphone?

In our household we share an ID for itunes so that we do not have to buy a separate instance of an app for each device we own. This causes a problem when someone wants to use their phone to buy an app since there is a different ID on the iphone than the computer's itunes account where most apps are purchased. THe itunes account will wipe out anything that was bought through the phone every time it syncs.
So, is it possible to have the app store on the idevice connected to a separate id than the icloud stuff that is used for mail and calendar?

Yeah. I don't think that is possible. I know you can have seperate user accounts on 1 computer. But the data from each would be different.

  • Why does apple not provide debit card facility for app store in India ?

Well it would be nicer to have debit card services in India for app store

The iTunes store in India accepts credit cards but not a debit card?
My debit card includes a Visa logo which can be used as with any Visa credit card and is also my ATM card for withdrawing cash from an ATM machine, and is accepted with the iTunes store in the U.S.

  • Can I use touch ID for App Store without using a passcode?

It seems that the ony way I can use the touch ID for App Store and iTunes is if I have a passcode to get into my phone. I don't want a passcode, it get in and out of my phone too often to have to unlock it all the time and I hate manually typing in my password for App I buy. Why can't it do both, isn't the touch ID just as secure for purchases even if you don't have to unlock the phone to get to it??

    From the article:
You can set up Touch ID in iOS Setup Assistant or by tapping Settings > Touch ID & Passcode. To set up Touch ID, you must first set a passcode. Touch ID is designed to minimize the input of your passcode, but you need a passcode for additional security validation, such as enrolling new fingerprints.
So yes, that's how it's designed. You must have a passcode, though as long as you understand the caveats:
In addition, you will need to enter your passcode to unlock your iPhone in these conditions:
    After restarting your iPhone 5s
When more than 48 hours have elapsed from the last time you unlocked your iPhone 5s
To enter the Touch ID & Passcode setting
    and
You can't use Touch ID for purchases if Require Password in Settings > General > Restrictions is set to Immediately.
you should be able to use Touch ID without needing your passcode. If none of those circumstances is true and you're still being asked for your passcode to make a purchase from the iTunes Store, it would seem that something is amiss with your iPhone.

  • I want to sign into the app store as another ID, but it is greyed out.

    Hey everyone,
I want to update my apps but I am having an issue.
When I click "update", this pops up
But that is not the apple ID I am signed into the app store as, nor the account I want to use to update things.
Why is it greyed out -- uneditable -- and how can I change that?
    Thanks!

OK so I was having this issue too but for some reason it was happening on Evernote. The user email that was populating the Apple ID field was for a previous user on the computer that, as far as I know, doesn't use Evernote at all. It only happened recently and as far as I knew all his user information was removed from this machine once we got a new one in the office?
Uninstalling and reinstalling worked but this behaviour seems very odd.

  • Touch ID doesn't work for App Store

My iPhone 5s touch ID works only on the lock screen. I verified to make sure the fingerprint settings were for both pass code and iTunes or AppStore purchases (which it was) and it doesn't work for a App Store purchases. Help anyone?

I had the same problem. I did not have restrictions enabled. After reading through similar threads and the Apple support article for using the fingerprint sensor for App Store and iTunes Store, where it says that resteictions cannot be set to "immediately," I decided to enable restrictions and set to "15 minutes." That did the trick for me!

  • Cab you get your ipod to forget old apple ID, because it is asking for the password but I do not use that apple ID becaue I have a new one, and not it will not let me enter a few of my apps

I Have a new apple ID and it is asking for my old ones password, I try to enter an app and it asks me to sign in but I hit cancel then ot kicks me out of the app, everytime.

When an app is purchased, it is locked to the Apple ID used to purchase/download the app. That will never change. If you have apps that are asking for the old ID for an update, it is working the way it is supposed to. If you cannot remember that password, then you will need to delete that app and download it again with the new Apple ID.

That means there is content on your phone...music and or apps...originally obtained using his Apple ID. Such content is forever tied to the account used to originally obtain it and cannot be transferred to another Apple ID. Your only choice is to identify and delete this content.

The first thing you should do with a second-hand computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. How you do that depends on the model, and on whether you already own another Mac. If you're not sure of the model, enter the serial number on this page. Then find the model on this page to see what OS version was originally installed.
    1. You don't own another Mac.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) installation disc, which you can get from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller — not from eBay or anything of the kind. If the machine has less than 1 GB of memory, you'll need to add more in order to install 10.6. I suggest you install as much memory as it can take, according to the technical specifications.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the installation media that came with it: gray installation discs, or a USB flash drive for some MacBook Air models. If you don't have the media, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To boot from an optical disc or a flash drive, insert it, then reboot and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, you don't need media. It should boot into Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
    2. You do own another Mac.
If you already own another Mac that was upgraded in the App Store to the version of OS X that you want to install, and if the new Mac is compatible with it, then you can install it. Use Recovery Disk Assistant to create a bootable USB device and boot the new Mac from it by holding down the C key at the startup chime. You will need the Apple ID and password that you used to upgrade. Note that if your other Mac was never upgraded in the App Store, you can't use this method.
Once booted from the disc, the USB device, or Internet Recovery, launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive — not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive, which is what you should do.
After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. When the installation is done, the system will automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
You should then run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. If you want to upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, get it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the previous owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed — you have to repurchase them.
If the previous owner "accepted" the bundled iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band) in the App Store so that he or she could update them, then they're linked to that Apple ID and you won't be able to download them without buying them. Reportedly, Apple customer service has sometimes issued redemption codes for these apps to second owners who asked.
If the previous owner didn't deauthorize the computer in the iTunes Store under his Apple ID, you wont be able to  authorize it under your ID. In that case, contact iTunes Support.

  • I use iphone 4 ios 6.1. i want to buy whatsapp app buy i cant buy it cos it says the email Id is for U.S why am in Nigeria. if i created another apple id using Nigeria country, will the app work with ma iphone that already have another id to purchase app

i use iphone 4 with ios 6.1. i want to buy whatsapp app but my previous apple id is for U.S using to get free app while i live in Nigeria. if i create another id for Nigeria region to buy Whatsapp app, will it work with my iphone that already have id?

    Hello Emmanuel,
It sounds like you are trying to purchase an app on your iPhone while in Nigeria.  You do not need to create a new Apple ID to do this.  You will just need change the iTunes Store country in your iPhone settings and update your billing information to match the country you are in:
    Change your iTunes Store country
Sign in to the account for the iTunes Store region you'd like to use. Tap Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Apple ID: > View Apple ID > Country/Region.
Follow the onscreen process to change your region, agree to the terms and conditions for the region if necessary, and then change your billing information.

  • So, my girlfriends old apple ID keeps popping up asking for the password. I have changed my apple ID and my Itunes ID and it still pops up. what do I do?I cant download some of my apps because of it

so, my girlfriends old apple ID keeps popping up asking for the password. I have changed my apple ID and my Itunes ID and it still pops up. what do I do?I cant download some of my apps because of it

If you have any apps downloaded with the other AppleID, those apps
will ask for the other AppleID to update.
Downloads are forever tied to the AppleID used to download them.
Delete the apps associated with the unwanted ID and download them
under your ID. You will have to purchase apps that are not free.
You cannot transfer apps from one Apple ID to another, not can you
    merge 2 Apple IDs.
