Old Collection replaced my new Collection becavse of a linked IMG #

I created an edited photo collection.  A few weeks later I wanted to retrieve that collection so I covld bvrn it onto a cd.  I vsed an IMG # from the DMG file to call vp the edited collection.  I vse my sd cards over and over again, so sometimes several photos are displayed that have the same IMG #.  I chose the wrong photo (a photo from an old collection) as the photo I wanted in my new collection and Lightroom changed my whole new collection into the old one - now I can't get my new collection at all... vnless I go back to the DMG files and re-edit the whole collection again.  How do I get Lightroom to reverse that process?

A few weeks later I wanted to retrieve that collection so I covld bvrn it onto a cd.  I vsed an IMG # from the DMG file to call vp the edited collection.
I'm not following you here, to call up a collection, normally you click on the Collection name on the left, in the "Collections Panel". There are other ways of calling up a collection, using the "badge" on a photo, or right-click on a photo and select "Go To Collection". None of these matches your description. Please state in much more detail how you called up the "edited collection"; please state exactly where you clicked you mouse and/or exactly what menu commands were used.
What do you mean by an "edited collection"? Lightoom has Smart Collections, regular (static) Collections and Quick Collections.
Lightroom changed my whole new collection into the old one
Again, I can't imagine what you mean. Please give the exact sequence of steps here, exactly what did you click your mouse on, exactly what menu commands were used, etc.
Please state your operating system and version of Lightroom.
Last request: please use the letter u when the letter u is required, do not use the letter v to indicate the letter u. Thank you.

  • TFS 2013, Copy a collection to a new collection

Not sure how to do this.
I need to take a collection that we currently have and pretty much copy it into a new collection so that I still have the old collection and the a new collection that is the same (at the time of copying) as the old one.
Is this possible and if now, what are the steps involved to do this?

    Hi Zenuke,
You can move a team project collection from a one deployment of Team Foundation Server (TFS) to another. And you can check this
    page for more details.
But the moved team project collection and the former team project, you can only make one of them work at the same time.

  • Default Collection Set For New Collect

    Good Morning,
Since upgrading to 5.2 I notice that when I right click on a collection set to create a new collection Lightroom does not default to the collection set I right clicked on as the "Inside Collection Set" if my original collection set is nested inside another collection set. I am then force to scroll through a long list of collection sets to choose the correct one.
It did not work like this in previous versions - 5.0 or 3.6.
Is this an intentional change or some type of bug?
    Thanks
    Harry

I have the same issue. In previous version of LR you could control click on a collection set, select "create collection" and the window would open with the same collection set selected. Now it jumps to the parent collection set of the one you clicked on forcing you to go back and scroll through to find the original collection set. It's a small issue but a pain all the same.

  • Old macbook replaced with new one, still have old hard drive.

I have the old hard drive from my non functioning 3 year old white macbook. Today I have a new white macbook complements of extended warranty. I tried swapping the old drive with the new, but it entered into a boot up loop. It chimes, sits there on the grey screen, then reboots. I'm assuming this is due to upgraded hardware in the new macbook being incompatible with OSX Tiger on the old drive.
So is it possible to put the old drive into an external drive case and run the migration assistant to transfer all the settings, apps, etc across? Is there another way I can make the old drive work with the the new macbook? Thought I might ask before I start shelling out for an external drive case or paying the apple repair store to transfer my data.
    Thanks,
    Warren.

Yes you could install it into an external drive case. (They are not that expensive).
Yes, you could reformat the drive GUID partition and install your OS on it.

  • New Collection Error (Apple Hosted Feed)

    Greetings All;
I'm having an issue that began yesterday and persists this morning.  I've added a new collection (Apple Hosted Feed) and entered all of the information and graphic.  I then uploaded one PDF file to the new Collection and saved the work. All information appears as it normally does. (see Feed Editor Screen capture).
When I return to "Collection Manager", the new collection information does not appear.  It's listed as a "New Collection" with none of the information visible (see Collection Manager screen capture).
When I preview the new collection in iTunes, none of the added information is visible (see iTunes preview).
Anyone having similar issues?  Any thoughts?

  • How do I transfer music from an old iTunes account/library on an old PC to a new iTunes account/library on a new Macbook Air?

I have an old iTunes account on an old PC.  I bought a new MacBook Air less than a year ago.  When I was at the store, purchasing my new Mac, I couldn't remember my old iTunes account password.  The sales rep encouraged me to open a new iTunes account, and assured me I would be able to merge the two accounts.  I have put very little music on my new iTunes account, and I want to figure out how to transfer my old account onto my new computer.  I am about to purchase the new iPhone, which I will use as my main music source since my old iPod just died.   I want to make this transfer before I make my new purchase, as I will be getting a $50 iTunes credit, and I need to know which account to attach it to.  (Also, I was given an iTunes credit on my new iTunes account when I purchased my MacBook Air, which I have not fully used yet.)

Thanks for your prompt response, Niel.  I had already seen that link.  So, my question is if I can't merge the accounts, then what will happen when I move my old library to my new computer?  Will the new computer then have the two separate libraries or will the old library replace the new library?
Also, if both libraries can co-exist on my new computer, it sounds like I will have to choose which library I want to put on my new iPhone, correct?  I won't be able to put music from both, is this right?

  • Zombie artwork in iTunes 11 - cant replace with new

I made up an album for a party and gave it a random piece of artwork.
Now when I have disassembled the album iTunes insists on using that random artwork even though I have gone through the Get Info/Artwork process and deleted the old and replaced with new. I even deleted the tracks completely (both locally and cloud), rebooted iTunes and then replaced the tracks with different source material. Loe and behold next day the old art work is back and the new disappeared. Obviously lurking somewhere is the old artwork and it knows which tracks it used to "own" and iTunes "helpfully" corrects my attempts to change and puts the old back.
    Any suggestions?

The exact same thing happened to me!
installed 11.1 on my 10.6 Intel MacBook Pro (2006). No issues.  Then suddenly I couldn't keep the program open.
After reading your description I was reminded that this started after I went through the settings & turned on the podcast sync. Now it keeps crashing & I can't keep it open long enough to check that option!
I've restarted, ran DiskWarrior on my computer & my external drive that holds the iTunes library.  It was open for a while so I could update apps, but the second I opened the podcast tab... CRASH & can't keep it open longer than 30 seconds.  Guess I'm gonna have to trash preferences or something 'cause this is getting crazy.

  • Problem with collection names getting replaced when creating new collections in Photoshop Elements 5.0

We have been using Photoshop Elements 5.0 a lot lately to organize many photos into collections.  A new problem just arose when creating a new collection.
As we named the new collection and clicked on "OK" it replaced another existing collection with the new name.  The photos from the old collection were still there but now under the new collection name.  This happened at least three or four times, each time a different "old" collection was renamed.  Does anyone know why this would happen?
This past week we have added at least 20 new collections with no problem prior to this.  Adobe actually had to shut down when this happened.  Each time we reopened Adobe it would happen again randomly renaming a different "old" collection when we tried to add the new one.  Any insights would be much appreciated.

Thank you - that was the problem and now it is working correctly
    again!

    Hi mshields1162,
Great question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
First, you may want to choose to have the sidebar displayed for familiarity:
    iTunes 11: Frequently used features
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5649
Afterwards, your device should be displayed if connected:
We'll want to click on it, and choose the Music tab at the top. Let's make sure "Sync Music" is checked:
Afterwards, you'll have the option to sync either the entire music library (for your first iPod), or "Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres" (for the secondary device). Upon selecting this option, four larger option boxes will appear allowing you to pick and choose what content will be synced. For audiobooks, you may need to do the above in the "Books" section. For a visual instruction on how to do this, see the following:
iTunes 10: Sync to your iPod

    Thanks,
    Matt M.

A Basic Guide for Migrating to Intel-Macs
The Knowledgebase article Intel-based Mac: Some migrated applications may need to be updated refers to methods of dealing with migrating from PowerPC chips to Intel with the Migration Assistant safely. The authors of this tip have not had a chance to verify this works in all instances, or that it avoids the 10.6.1 and earlier Guest Account bug that caused account information to get deleted upon use of the Migration/Setup Assistant. However, a well backed up source that includes at least two backups of all the data that are not connected to your machine will help you avoid potential issues, should they arise. In event it does not work, follow the steps below.
If you are migrating a PowerPC system (G3, G4, or G5) to an Intel-Mac be careful what you migrate.  Keep in mind that some items that may get transferred will not work on Intel machines and may end up causing your computer's operating system to malfunction.
Rosetta supports "software that runs on the PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor that are built for Mac OS X". This excludes the items that are not universal binaries or simply will not work in Rosetta:
Classic Environment, and subsequently any Mac OS 9 or earlier applications
Screensavers written for the PowerPC System Preference add-ons
All Unsanity Haxies Browser and other plug-ins
    Contextual Menu Items
Applications which specifically require the PowerPC G5 Kernel extensions
Java applications with JNI (PowerPC) libraries
See also What Can Be Translated by Rosetta.
In addition to the above you could also have problems with migrated cache files and/or cache files containing code that is incompatible.
If you migrate a user folder that contains any of these items, you may find that your Intel-Mac is malfunctioning. It would be wise to take care when migrating your systems from a PowerPC platform to an Intel-Mac platform to assure that you do not migrate these incompatible items.
If you have problems with applications not working, then completely uninstall said application and reinstall it from scratch. Take great care with Java applications and Java-based Peer-to-Peer applications. Many Java apps will not work on Intel-Macs as they are currently compiled. As of this time Limewire, Cabos, and Acquisition are available as universal binaries. Do not install browser plug-ins such as Flash or Shockwave from downloaded installers unless they are universal binaries. The version of OS X installed on your Intel-Mac comes with special compatible versions of Flash and Shockwave plug-ins for use with your browser.
The same problem will exist for any hardware drivers such as mouse software unless the drivers have been compiled as universal binaries. For third-party mice the current choices are USB Overdrive or SteerMouse. Contact the developer or manufacturer of your third-party mouse software to find out when a universal binary version will be available.
Also be careful with some backup utilities and third-party disk repair utilities. Disk Warrior, TechTool Pro , SuperDuper , and Drive Genius  work properly on Intel-Macs with Leopard.  The same caution may apply to the many "maintenance" utilities that have not yet been converted to universal binaries.  Leopard Cache Cleaner, Onyx, TinkerTool System, and Cocktail are now compatible with Leopard.
Before migrating or installing software on your Intel-Mac check MacFixit's Rosetta Compatibility Index.

Transferring data with Setup Assistant - Migration Assistant FAQ
Because Migration Assistant isn't the ideal way to migrate from PowerPC to Intel Macs, using Target Disk Mode, copying the critical contents to CD and DVD, an external hard drive, or networking will work better when moving from PowerPC to Intel Macs.  The initial section below discusses Target Disk Mode.  It is then followed by a section which discusses networking with Macs that lack Firewire.
If both computers support the use of Firewire then you can use the following instructions:
    1. Repair the hard drive and permissions using Disk Utility.
    2. Backup your data.  This is vitally important in case you make a mistake or there's some other problem.
    3. Connect a Firewire cable between your old Mac and your new Intel Mac.
    4. Startup your old Mac in Transferring files between two computers using FireWire.
    5. Startup your new Mac for the first time, go through the setup and registration screens, but do NOT migrate data over. Get to your desktop on the new Mac without migrating any new data over.
If you are not able to use a Firewire connection (for example you have a Late 2008 MacBook that only supports USB:)
    1. Set up a local home network: Creating a small Ethernet Network.
    2. If you have a MacBook Air or Late 2008 MacBook see the following:

    MacBook Air- Migration Tips and Tricks;
MacBook Air- Remote Disc, Migration, or Remote Install Mac OS X and wireless 802.11n networks.
Copy the following items from your old Mac to the new Mac:
In your /Home/ folder: Documents, Movies, Music, Pictures, and Sites folders.
    In your /Home/Library/ folder:
/Home/Library/Application Support/AddressBook (copy the whole folder) /Home/Library/Application Support/iCal (copy the whole folder)
Also in /Home/Library/Application Support (copy whatever else you need including folders for any third-party applications)
/Home/Library/Keychains (copy the whole folder) /Home/Library/Mail (copy the whole folder) /Home/Library/Preferences/ (copy the whole folder) /Home /Library/Calendars (copy the whole folder) /Home /Library/iTunes (copy the whole folder) /Home /Library/Safari (copy the whole folder)
    If you want cookies:
    /Home/Library/Cookies/Cookies.plist /Home/Library/Application Support/WebFoundation/HTTPCookies.plist
    For Entourage users:
Entourage is in /Home/Documents/Microsoft User Data Also in /Home/Library/Preferences/Microsoft.
Credit goes to Macjack for this information.
If you need to transfer data for other applications please ask the vendor or ask in the  Discussions where specific applications store their data.
    5. Once you have transferred what you need restart the new Mac and test to make sure the contents are there for each of the applications.

Replace the phone with a brand new phone.

There should be no way to tell.  The dealer/store shouldn't know either.  It should be good as new.
The warranty clearly states that it can be a refurb unit.  You have no say in the matter.

(see FCP X)..
    good luck with apple dude..
Where is the Apple problem? I have CS4 and CS5 running perfectly fine on my Macbook Pro. Installed 5 after Lion upgrade. Worth every cent. Adobe did have some catching up to do with Lion but with the CS5.5 update all runs fine. But not yours. So it is a problem with the Lion OS? You say you have been with Adobe since 2005. So you would be aware of all the other issues that Adobe had catching up with past Oss in Mac and Windows then. They get it right, but it is up to them. It is not up to Apple, nor Microsoft for that matter, to run around and check that every software developer in the world is running their business properly.
And what has politics got to do with anything. Some people just have to blame Software for their poor Hardware maintainence of failure of the same.

  • How to re-create same collections in a new catalog?

I recently converted all of my pictures to a new format.  I want to make a new catalog, identical to the old one, with the new pictures.  I imported everything, but I don't know what to do about collections and smugmug folders.  I still have the old catalog, and all of the old pictures.  But I need to reupload all of the new pictures to my smugmug site, same as before.  So, I need to recreate every collection and add the new pictures like they were before.  Is there a faster way to do this?  Can I use my old catalog to somehow recreate the collections?  I still have the old catalog, and all of the old pictures.  All of the filenames of new and old pictures are identical.  I also have a few collections that I would prefer not to manually recreate.
I am not very hopeful.  But I appreciate any help on this one.

That's what I meant with DNG's.  You can see the edits out of lightroom without destrutively saving the file.
Most people export instead. Note: Lightroom *never* re-saves edits to jpegs, destructively. If you are nevertheless sure of what you want to do, just be sure you read the fine print. For example, I have *no* viewers installed on my system that could take advantage of such an embedded preview (which couldn't also fold in the Lightroom edits, I mean). *And*, you must update the embedded preview or it won't have the edits (which is nearly equivalent to exporting).
Summary: As long as you know what you are doing, and how Lightroom works..., it's all good as far as I'm concerned, and I'll help. Just want to make sure you aren't about to step on your own toes due to some misunderstanding, eh?
