    Hi tharold,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If the music on your iPod or iPhone was purchased from the iTunes Store, you can transfer the purchases to your iTunes library.
This article goes over the options available for transfering content from an iPod or iOS device to a computer:
iTunes: Transferring media from your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or iPod
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1209
You can transfer media using these methods:
    Media type
    Transfer method
Music purchased from the iTunes Store
    Transfer your media through iTunes.
Download your media through iTunes in the Cloud1.
Download your media through iTunes Match2.
Music imported from a CD or other source
iTunes can't transfer this media back to your computer.
Back up your iTunes library or useiTunes Match2.
    Best Regards
    Jeremy

  • Im trying to sync my iphone with my itunes but my phone has different music on if i right click on my phone under devices, and click sync will it transfer all of th emusic from my phone to the computer?

Im trying to sync the music from my phone to my itunes if i right click on my phone under deviced and click sync will it transfer all of my music from my phone?

The music sync is one way - computer to iphone.
The only exception is itunes purchases.  File>Transfer Purchases.

  • HT4972 The computer that I normally sync my iphone with has crashed and all info was lost.... Im trying to sync to my new laptop... how do I do this without losing iphone purchases, apps etc???? Help??

The computer that I normally sync my iphone with has crashed and all info lost.... I'm trying to sync and update with my new laptop but I am getting an error meassage that if I continue all purchases, apps etc will be deleted..... How to I do this without losing all my stuff??? Help I have no clue about technology!!!!!

The official way to do it is to restore the iTunes library that was on your old computer to your new computer using the backup of your whole system you regularly update.  Then you are syncing the phone with the same old library.
Some of the information below is summarized by turingtest2 in the post at https://discussions.apple.com/message/18842615
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

  • I am trying to sync my iphone with itunes on a new computer, but  over 3 quarters of my music is missing.

I am trying to sync my iphone with itunes on a new computer, but over 3 quarters of my music is missing. It seems that only the songs downloaded on itunes in the last 6 - 9 months have transferred. How can I get the rest of it to sync?

You have posted to the iTunes Match forum, which your question does not appear to be related to. You will probably get better help by posting in the Using iPhone forum.

  • TS1474 I have just tried to sync my iphone with my computer. All my purchased songs were replaced with what was on my computer which was nothing. How can i get them back onto my phone or computer?

  • My PC crashed so I'm trying to sync my iPhone with iTunes

My PC crashed so I'm trying to sync my iPhone with iTunes using a new user account on my PC. Nothing is syncing, but iTunes keeps telling me it has synced. My ulitmate goal is to backup contacts, etc. before updating the phone's software.

You need to use the same Apple ID you used when you synced your contacts intitially.
That kind of data cannot be transferred to another account nor can accounts be merged.

Trying to sync my iPod with iTunes and I am getting this message:"This computer is no longer authorized to play purchased items that are on the ipod"...  I have deauthorized and reauthorized the account and still getting the same error.  I have read and followed the instructions in the support article TS1389.  I do NOT have an SC info folder at /Users/Shared/ directory to delete.
I just installed Lion yesterday, and am running iTunes 10.4.   First attempt to sync since upgrade.
    Thanks

    Yup,
Me too...this is stupid, stupid, stupid. Just purchased my 200 (ish) mac and now I am told that my new Mac Book pro is not "authorized".
Which if my 200 macs are authorized. Can someone please tell me???
I "deauthorized" my old MBP and still told I cannot use my iPhone with iTunes.
Interesting that my old $2500 MBP, my new $3000 MBP and my $500 iPhone all cannot work cuz of some pinhead's decision to use this assorization process.
Yes I am very, very, very mad.

  • I'm trying to sync my iPhone with my iTunes account, but they are on two different emails, help!

I'm trying to sync my iPhone with my iTunes account, but they are on two different emails, help!

I really don't know what this means.
What do you mean "when I try to change the email on my itunes"?
Where on itunes are you changing an e-mail?  and for what reason?
Not sure at all what you are trying to do an it seems that you are confusing e-mail, itunes accoutns and libraries.
Please explain exactly what you are trying to accomplish.
You have music on your computer?  You want that music on your iphone?

  • PleaHi, se help, ive just tried to sync my Iphone with my PC and it wouldnt allow me to for some reason. I disconnected and just tried to play some of my music from my Iphone and loads of my playlists have completely vanished, im gutted.

HI, PLEASE HELP I'VE JUST TRIED TO SYNC MY IPHONE WITH MY PC, IT WOULD'NT ALLOW ME, LATER WHEN I DISCONNECTED AND TRIED TO PLAY SOME MUSIC THROUGH MY PHONE ALMOST ALL MY MUSIC HAS GONE PLEASE HELP !!!!!!

    1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
    2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
    3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.
above works for purchases from the iTunes store. for everything else, check out this post by Zevoneer.

  • I was trying to sync my iphone4 with itunes and my phone was pgraded to ios version, i now cannot make call on my iphone because my sim cannot be recognised again. what do i do plsssssss.

i was trying to sync my iphone4 with itunes and my phone was upgraded to ios5 version, i now cannot make call on my iphone because my sim cannot be recognised again. what do i do plsssssss.

As peter says, this is evidence that your phone was previously hacked and was re-locked by the upgrade.
ONLY the carrier it is locked to can unlock it.  There is nothing else we can suggest.

  • I am trying to sync my itunes with my ipod, but when I get to step 3 of syncing, it stops. Also, I deleted all the songs on my ipod, and when I go to my music in my ipod the songs are all still there and in a grey color and I'm not able to select them.

I am trying to sync my itunes with my ipod, but when I get to step 3 of syncing, it stops. Also, I deleted all the songs on my ipod, and when I go to my music in my ipod the songs are all still there and in a grey color and I'm not able to select them. How do I completely clear my ipod music, and how can I solve the syncing problem?

Sync works the same way it always has, connect the device, select the content desired to sync and sync.
All the media should be in iTunes already, iDevices are not and have never been backup devices.
If this is a new computer, move the content from the old computer to the new computer.
