Old computer died, how do I syncronize w/ a new computer?

I had my IPOD Nano synced w/ my old computer. That computer died. I have all my music still on my IPOD. I have tried hooking my IPOD up to my new computer, but it doesn't see any of my old music.
I have read several of the articles on the apple website that talk about moving songs to your new computer by changing your IPOD into Manual mode (versus Automatic), but the instructions require you to have access to your old computer. I don't have that access anymore. I would like to be able to add more new music using my new computer, but not to lose what is already on my IPOD.
Any thoughts?

Check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2).
There's also another method. I've successfully tested this across several different Windows PCs.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), there's Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
The above methods may depend on what version of iTunes you are running.
If none of these methods work, try CopyPod.
If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.

• My computer died how do I sync to a new computer with out it deleting my music. Every thing is on my Ipod still just can get it out.

Wow my computer has died all my music, pics and vids are on my Ipod touch. But it is synced to the dead computer. In order to sync with the new computer it is going to delete all my stuff on my Ipod. Is there a way arround this so can restore my library to my new computer.

- Transfer iTunes purchased items by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
- For other items you need a third-party program like one of thos discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
The good ones are paid. And to do more than music, like synced photos, usually cost. There is also:
TouchCopy
Phoneview
iPhone Explorer
- After you transfer all the stuff, connect the iPod to the computer and right click on the iPod under Devices in iTunes an select Back Up.
- Restore the iPod from that backup.

• Downloaded CS3, Computer Died, How do I get Photoshop on new computer?

Morning,
I bought Photoshop CS3 (single-user license) about a year ago and downloaded it directly from the Adobe site onto my computer. All was well in the world. Then last week my computer's motherboard died and it's looking like I have to get a new computer. However, I'm unsure how I can get Photoshop (either the original CS3 or upgrade to CS4) on my new computer. I have the seriel number of my original purchase and the credit card receipt but not sure what to do next. It doesn't look like I can just upgrade to CS4 since CS3 won't be on the new computer??? Or will it install the entire program and CS3 doesn't need to be on there as long as I provide the seriel number???
I really appreciate any help!

It doesn't look like I can just upgrade to CS4 since CS3 won't be on the new computer??? Or will it install the entire program and CS3 doesn't need to be on there as long as I provide the seriel number???
Exactly that. The update installer only checks the two serials. There is no requirement for any CS3 component to actually be present on the system. For the rest - as Buko said, you should be perfectly able to use your old drive on a new mobo, assuming you do not plan on formatting it or foregoing it in favor of new harddisks. If you do, it would still be smart to at least once plug in the old drive to deactivate PS, so you don't have to bother with calling phone support to do it for you. Reinstalling CS3 on the new system should be no problem, if you have the source files for the installer, but since you seem to plan to go with CS4, I guess it won't be necessary to start any discussions about backup DVDs or not. Still, make sure to always create backups in some form. You never know what happens tomorrow. even without hardware failures, there may be occasions that require a re-install.

I've recently purchased a macbook but my iphone 4 is synced with another computer. How can I sync with my new computer and keep my information?

Sync the iTunes content from the iPhone to the new computer.

And... launch iTunes on the new computer. From the menu bar click Store / Authorize This Computer.

• HT1329 My old computer crashed but still have my IPOd with old music. How to transfer the music into new computer which has already music in it?

My old computer crashed and I still have my music in an IPod. How to transfer the music/playlists into a new computer which has already music in it? (Not possible to copy ITunes of old computer in IPod)
Thanks

Lucky for you, I just found out how to get the music stored on your iPod by messing around with it. I'm not much of an Apple user (I only have a shuffle), so I'm not 100% sure it would work the same way as yours.. but it's worth a shot.
if your iTunes didn't sync with your iPod yet,... that would be great..
1, Make sure your iTunes does not automatically sync with your iPod (I don't know if this would help..)
2, Click on your iPod and go to settings, check "Enabe Disk Use"
Your iPod should now have a partition on My Computer called AFJCHAW's IPOD or whatever you named your iPod... If you go to that disk, you'll notice there's nothing in there.
3, Click on Organize at the top right part of Windows Explorer(Windows 7, don't know how in XP..), go th the Folder and search options, view tab, and click on show hidden files, folders, and drives.
If you go back to your disk, you should be able to find a folder
4, It'll be pretty straightforward then. Go to iPod_Control/Music. You'll find folders there. Inside the folders are each of your music files (they're renamed but the Details would still be about the same).
If you did get your music files back from this procedure, then, yay! it worked!!
If you didn't,.... it should've worked..

• Desktop Died - How to re-associate itunes on new computer?

Hi,
My desktop died an ugly death. The C drive fried and I don't want to spend the 1000 bucks to have the information recalled. How do I go about re-installing itunes and all of my software onto the new computer without reformatting my ipad and ipod touch?
Thanks
James

I'm not positive, but when you plug in the iPad or iPod Touch, won't you get a choice to transfer purchases or format? Just choose transfer purchases.

The easiest way is to simply restore your music from your backup drive.

• Computer with CS6 Died on one of two computers. I need to install and activate CS6 Web Premium on another computer. How can I activate it on new computer?

I have Adobe Creative Suite CS6 installed on two computers. One of the two computers experienced a catastrophic failure. The hard drive is damaged and the computer will not boot. So now I only have access to CS6 on one computer. I would like to install CS6 on a new computer so that I have two working computers each with an installation of CS6. How do I do this and activate both installations? I tried calling Adobe but the only number I have to troubleshoot problems is for Creative Cloud problems only. Any way to contact a live person at Adobe would be appreciated. Any other solutions would also be appreciated..
Thank you.

You can contact Adobe support thru chat and they can deal with inaccessible activations to deactivate them.

• Old DW4 files - how do I recreate site on new computer?

I have a perfectly ok site for a sailing club, which I created in DW4 (NOT CS4). The machine it was on died and I tried to continue on another PC.
I could edit pages OK of course but the Library item didn't work. I have a weekly results page and a date selector library item which appears on every results page and the index. But when I added a new page and so a new date to the selector it didn't ask if I wanted to update all the files.
Now that PC is also failing so we've bought a new one and I need to/can start again.
Should I try to create a new site, or open the old one?
Many thanks

Again, thanks.
The path is C:\Users\Henry\Documents\Websites\sailing club
Try as I might I can't get sailing club to appear in the local root folder
window in Define Sites. But when I open the site sailing club its root
isshown as C:\Users\Henry\Documents\Websites
with sailing club foldertest shown below it, with all the files there.
I tried putting another folder in at the same level as sailing club - it
still wouldn't appear in the window, and it complained that the new site
would be in the same root folder as sailing club.
Surely it's not possible that the path is too long?!!
I'm really sorry if I'm being stupid - please stick with me!

• Old compuer died; how do i get all my bookmarks to the new computer?

My old computer has crashed. Is there a way I can retrieve my old bookmarks on line and transfer them to my new computer?

Where you using Firefox Sync on the old PC?
https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/What+is+Firefox+Sync
If not, were you using something else to store your bookmarks "online"? Like maybe Xmarks or Delicious??
If you weren't using anything for saving /sharing bookmarks online or for "syncing" your bookmarks, they aren't "online".
Do you have the hard drive from the old PC? If so, maybe that hard drive would work long enough for you to be able to access your files on the old drive if it is put in a USB enclosure and plugged into the new PC?
