Old desktop photo shows on projector!

I used to have photo #1 as my desktop photo. When I turned on my projector, the desktop photo would project onto the screen. I recently changed my desktop photo in system preferences. (Now I have photo #2 as my desktop)
Although my desktop is now photo #2, whenever i plug in a projector, my old desktop (photo #1) projects onto the screen! Where the heck does the projector go to find the desktop?

It sounds like you have your display preferences set to expand your desktop.
If that's the case the OS treats each display as separate and each can have its own background image. This is in contrast to mirroring where the same image (including desktop pattern) is show on both screens at the same time.
The solution is simple - just Ctrl-click on the desktop and choose 'Change Desktop Background' then choose the image you want on the second display.

    There they are.
Just unzip the file, and copy them to Mac HD/Library/Desktop Pictures

  • Only desktop photo shows up on display

Plugged my MBAir into my display, but suddenly only the desktop photo appears - but none of the rest of my desktop.  I tried Detect Displays and get nothing.  Help!  I'm guessing this is some simple fix - a setting I accidentally changed somehow.  Thanks.

  • Desktop photo doesn't display on external monitor

I use a mid-2010 vintage MBPro 7,1 Core Duo 2.4 GHz with the NVIDIA GForce 256 MB graphics processor, running 10,7.4 upgraded from snow leopard.   The laptop migrates between work and home.  At work, I plug into a NEC 24" monitor with single DVI 1920 x 1200 monitor, and operate it with an external keyboard in clamshell mode.  Probably every other time I do that, it gives me a gray desktop, dropping the photo I had chosen.   It also often bizarrely resizes program windows.  They are often consigned to the far right, nearly off the screen, and I have to drag them over and resize.  Adobe Acrobat is often resized to a single strip, with just the top of the window showing.
What would account for the variable behavior (sometimes with desktop photo showing, sometimes not), and the weird window displays?  Are there any parameters I can change to make it more stable?
What's interesting is that when I plut into my wife's cinema display, it usually sorts out the connection much faster, and displays without errors, though it is sometimes jumpy displaying video at high resolutions.
    Thanks for any guidance.

    Finally stumbled on the solution.
There is an option in Display Preferences, Options tab. It is the Overscan checkbox (default checked). Just uncheck it and the screen will not be cut off.

  • Old SMS photos not showing up

I have some old SMS photos that I received that are only showing up as a black screen. I hit load earlier messages till i got to the beginning and I can see two even older photos but I cant see the others for some reason. Help?

Publish to a folder on the desktop and then open one of the html files containing the photos with a text editor and search for "img src=". The code following that defines the photo.
Here's an example of one less the brackets : +img src="Embedtests_files/Talia%20Stamp.jpg" alt="" style="border: none; height: 203px; width: 260px; " /+. Each should have the file location (Embedtests_files), file name (Talia%20Stamp.jpg), the alternate name (alt= ) which iWeb doesn't fill in, style, heitht and width. See what your page includes after each img scr= tag.
It may be due to some setting need at the server but someone who's more familiar with non .Mac servers can better explain that.
Can you post the URL so we can look at it directly?

  • Photos show in a different order/sequence when viewed on my Centro than on my desktop???

Hello, I know this may sound trivial but it is driving me nuts!  My photos show up in a different sequence when I view them on my handheld (Centro smartphone) than they do on my Palm Desktop Media platform.  I cannot figure out why they do not match up.  I have HotSync-ed a million times.  I sorted all of my photos via the desktop media software so that they are in chronological order.  Then I HotSync and view the albums on my phone (Centro) and none of them are in the order they are supposed to be in.  (If this helps at all... All of the photos are stored on my microSDHD card, not directly on my phone's memory - too many for that.) Any ideas why the HotSync is not correlating them to the order they are in on my desktop?  Am I going to have to manually sort them on my phone also, even though I already did this on the desktop software??  Please tell me there is an easier way - I have LOTS of pictures.  LOL! Thank you!!  ~ Kimmy

12:13am ***  OH NO!!  I am totally going to cry right now. I was trying to get the stupid thing to sync correctly.  So, I deleted the picture albums off my phone.  I left them on my desktop, since they were organized as they should be.  I did a hotsync and it erased the photos from the desktop and didn't put them on my phone. So, basically I lost a million pictures.  I double checked my settings and everything is set to "syncronize" - SO WOULDN'T THAT MEAN IT WOULD SYNCRONIZE BOTH????  Not let the phone override the desktop??  I am beyond upset.  If anyone can lend some help I cannot tell you how grateful I would be.  :*(

Hi..  Syncronize means that hotsync looks at both palm desktop and the device and looks for any changes and moves those changes to the opposite side to make them identical.  Thus it saw you deleted all pics on the device and sees it as you no longer need any of the pictures which were deleted thus it makes the palm desktop match the device by deleting them.  If you had set the media conduits to desktop over writes handheld it would have done what you wanted.  Hope you can find them..

I would first go to your Adobe Account and make sure that all info in it was correct and then match up all S/N's with your records. If you find any problems, then make corrections.
If all matches, but does not work, contact Adobe and see if they still sell replacement DVD's for CS2. Adobe usually does, for a small price. Still, you will need your correct S/N, so you will probably be back on the phone to Adobe. When I once used them for a S/N problem, they were quick and did a perfect job.

  • HT4650 In Finder, Desktop, it shows a zillion photos ...jpgs.. all greyed out.  I have no idea how they got there and they have been a nuisance since I cannot seem to get them off.  Tried dragging them to the trash, didn't help.

In Finder,  Desktop,  a zillion photos show .  I have no idea how they got to the desktop but have not been able to get rid of them.  They are listed as greyed out.  ON the Desktop I tried dragging them to the Trash.  If I try to empty trash, 'some of the items you are moving are in use by another application. etc.."  and now,  another, Copy   "Preparing to undo "move to Trash".

    Try an All Images Search:
    In the Finder:
    Command - f
    Kind: Images
Size: Greater than 300kb (This is to avoid all the thumbnails, icons and so on.)
Set it to search the Mac.
As to why? The most likely answer is user error, I'm afriad. It does point up the importantce of always having a back up.

  • No Aperture photos show up in Desktop & Screen Saver System Prefernences

For some time I have experienced an issue wherein no photos from my Aperature library appear in my Desktop & Screen Saver System Preferences on the Desktop tab. "Aperture" appears in the left-hand column list of photo sources, but clicking it produces no results on the right-hand side where the thumbnails are normally shown. Curiously, if I choose the Screen Saver tab on the same preference pane, the photos all show up and are accessible.
As another bit of background, I do sync a number of photos from Aperature to my iOS devices using iTunes and never have an issue. The full listing of albums/folders appears in iTunes properly every time.
I have tried the all of the iLife Sharing options within Aperature and they do not seem to have any effect on this issue. I've been sticking with Share on Exit, since my iOS devices have no problems with this setting.
Also, if I choose a photo from within Aperature to set as my desktop photo it does work, but again, when I open the System Preferences neither the thumbnail for the background being used nor any other photos show up.
Any advice on things I can try?

Have you tried switching libraries, then quitting Aperture, and checking Desktop & Screen Saver again? I'd be interested to see if your particular issue manifests in a different library.

I can see my thumbnails for my events in iphoto, but when I click to open the folder, no photos show up. However, when I hover over the thumbnail, it shows the flicker of images
that should be inside the folder, as well as # of images in each folder. It also occasionally says the following when I try to even open iphoto:  "Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process for very large libraries may take an hour or more to complete." So, I am scared to hit "upgrade" for fear I will never recover any of the images as the wording in this quote seems odd. The photos are not in the trash. Did I lose them all? Do you know if/how I can retrieve them?

    iPhoto 08?
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 08* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • Photos show up as thumbnail but when I click on them they will not display

Photos show up as thumnails but when I click on them they will not display. I get a exclamation mark in a dotted line box

    Hylan:
That occurs when the library has lost the link to the original file. This is a result of a damaged library database file, Library6.iPhoto. You can try rebuilding the library from within iPhoto to see if you can recover the photos by launching iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the first three options. However, it's iffy.
You can rebuild the library with iPhoto Library Manager as it create a new library, leaving the original one intact, by reading the AlbumData.xml file and copying what it needs. You will be able to recover the photos, albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, slideshows, and calendars will not be recovered. Here's how:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: It may take some time to create the new library if you have a lot of photos. Report back on how long it took and how many photos you have in the library so we can give other users an idea of how long it may take.
It that doesn't work you'll have to start over with a new library and import the Originals folder from the old library as follows:
Creating a new library while preserving the Events from the original library.
Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
Open the library package like this.
Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
Drag the Originals folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library if you have the Finder checkbox unchecked in the Events preference pane.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
