Old Exchange 2007 is not moving MAPI clients to new server

Good Afternoon all,
I am in the process of moving from exchange 2007 to 2010. I thought I read somewhere that Outlook will figure out in the background that there is a new exchange box and when I've moved everyone to it that Outlook clients will automatically be mapped
to the new server. I have moved 5 people over and all 5 did not re-map to the new exchange server. I even tried closing/re-opening the app and rebooting the computer. Did I miss a step somewhere? Thanks in advance as I have 160 mailboxes
to move over. I'd like to do it gradually if the system will allow me to rather than do it all in one go.

EDIT-- My mobile users that I have moved are also reporting not getting email on their phones. Mix of iphones and droid. Tried rebooting and re-installing the Exchange profile. Seems as though external access breaks as well.

In Exchange 2010, clients do not connect directly to the mailbox role, they go through the
CAS role, so it sounds like you need to set the RPCClientAccessServer to point to the new Exchange 2010 server.
Do this via PowerShell :
GET-MAILBOXDATA | SET-MAILBOXDATABASE -RPCCLIENTACCESSSERVER <FQDN OF NEW CAS SERVER>
But as you have 160 mailboxes to migrate , which would be quite time consuming and needs lots
of efforts, so rather than opting manual way for migration I would refer you to do this using any professional Migration Software like Stellar Mailbox Extractor for Exchange Server, which can perform the Migration of 160 mailboxes in quick time.

Removing old Exchange 2007

Last year I upgraded to Exchange 2010 & all has been working fine.
This year I plan to upgrade to 2013.
Last year I moved everything over to exchange 2010 but could not completely remove all roles from old server which by this time was virtualised. This server has been off for 12 months.
In the exchange management console window on 2010 I can see in the server summary window that it thinks there is still an exchange 2007 server.
I have fired back up my old virtualised version of 2007 & tried to perform add remove roles as it still thinks it has a mailbox role. This fails saying it cannot find it self.
How do I get rid of this server so I can progress with upgrade to latest version?
I have checked ADSIEDIT & cannot see an entry for my old server.
Please help

Unlike Exchange 2003, manual
removal of Exchange 2007 is not supported. However, take a look at these threads..

The services that you need to move are:
Offline address book
Public Folders
System mailboxes (hidden)
Change OWA host name to point to server
When do.
Uninstall server A.

Moving Hyperion Intelligence to New Server

Using a document supplied by Hyperion, we are tyring to move ourHyperion Intelligence setup from an old server to a brand newshinny system. However, we're a little confused on the databaseend. We currently have the old server A pointing torepository/database A. The new server B has been installedwith the Intelligence suite using database B. We areusing oracle for our database/tablespace. The document stateswe simply need to "exp" from database A and"imp" into database B. (note: there are other stepsinvolved here but are unrelated to the database.) We're having some problems/questions related to this and wondered if anyone else out there hasattempted to migrate their Intelligence suite from one server toanother. Luke, Out of curiosity.....where did you find this document. I contacted support Friday because we are planning on moving Intelligence to a new server as well but they basically told me to login to e-support and look for the document there. I have been unable to locate this online. Can you perhaps enlighten me as to where I may be able to find this? I saw you post and figured I'd ask before calling support back later this morning. Migrate from Exchange 2007 to 2013 without modifying client devices

Let's use contesso.com as an example. Let's say the Exchange 2007 server's internal and external
name are currently mail.contesso.com. Now I am going to introduce a new Exchange 2013 server named mail2.contesso.com. The Exchange Server Deployment Assistant says that we should make the external DNS entry point mail.contesso.com to the 2013
server and legacy.contesso.com point to the 2007 server. That takes care of external clients. I don't understand how internal clients will find the correct server because they are all configured for mail.contesso.com which internally points to
the 2007 server. We have over 200 users with multiple devices. We do not want to be forced to create new Outlook profiles or change the configuration of their mobile devices.

MS Exchange 2007 - 64 bit and Entourage Client issue

Hi guys -
I'm a new one with Mac and I have got this problem so far:
I have Exchange 2007 on 32 and 64 bit platforms
from the Entourage I can see all mailboxes that are on Exchange 32 bit server and no issues at all here... I just go and add Exchange account and that's it...
but the problem is when I do the same for any mailbox which is sitting on Exchange 64 bit server -> nothing happens no errors, nothing... I don't see anything at all...
The question is: what I have missed here? or perhaps, it's not supported yet... Is there any kind of workaround

How to create custom folder in every mailbox of Exchange 2007 mailbox : not using Managed folder

We want to create custom folder in mailbox as root or inside inbox for every user of mailbox but not using managed folder .

What happens when you try that method? What errors do you get? Have you ensured you've installed EWS 1.2 per the requirements listed in the script? (it actually mentions 1.1, but that no longer seems to be available, but 1.2 is here

I'm assuming you're running Exchange 2007 (since you're posting in the 2003/2007 forum, and this won't work on 2003), is that correct?
While I don't know for sure that the script will work on 2007, have you ensured that you've amended the file paths to the correct locations? Eg, assuming it should work you'll need to amend the line :
$service = New-Object Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.ExchangeService([Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.ExchangeVersion]::Exchange2010_SP1)
to reflect the version of Exchange you're running, and the line :
Import-Module -Name "C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange\Web Services\1.1\Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.dll"
with whatever version of EWS you've installed.

Why is exchange 2007 account not displaying all messages in a folder?

Hi,
I've got my emails setup under hosted exchange 2007.
The email account loaded into iphone 3gs AOK, but when I go to folders other than the inbox it doesn't show messages that I know are there. Usually it displays the folder as being empty.
Refreshing it makes it think for a few seconds and then again come back empty.
I couldn't see any settings that were to do with age of message. Have I missed something?

There are settings on the age of messages. Also, by default, folders other than Inbox are not synced unless you open them; then you must wait for them to sync. You can go to Settings for the account and select other folders to sync.

Exchange 2007: user not found

Hi all,
I have a very strange problem..... I've been using Sun IDM 8.0 for quite some time now to manage Users in an exchange 2007 environment, without major issues. Now I finally got a new, improved test-environment, which includes a test-active-directory and a test exchange 2007 installation. Just two servers, probably the smallest possible configuration.
Now, everything works fine when I stick to the regular exchange 2007 management-tools, but it just won't work when using sun idm. :-(
I can create and modify activedirectory accounts without any issues, but when setting "recipient type" to UserMailbox, the operation suceeds but no mailbox is created. I activated tracing in the gateway and there is "getRecipientType: user not found" messages, which I suppose are related to my issue.
I definitly run the same idm-configuration in my production-environment without any issues. My exchange-admin claims that the exchange-environment has no differences either. I tried to run the gateway both on the domain controler and the exchange 2007 server, but found no difference.
Sadly, I'm running out of ideas..... :-(
Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Can anyone please assist me what to backup first before so that I can safely remove / delete the following highlighted entry from my domain controller:
Is that the correct location where I can safely delete the old Exchange Server mailbox entry ? All of our Exchange Servers are 2010 SP2.
There is also the computer object named MAILBOX when I do the search in
Active Directory Users & Computers console.
So can anyone please clarify if this is the best and safest way to do without causing any email downtime ?

You need to ensure that you have the following backups in order to proceed with the decommissioning process:
1. System State Backup of your Active directory
2. Exchange Database Flat file Backup
3. Run ExBPA Report and Export the Report for future reference.
4. Go to Registry Editor and Export “My Computer” as Registry backup.
Yes you are at the right location to safely delete the old Exchange Server mailbox entry .
The best & cleanest way is to delete the whole server object. This wouldn't break your Exchange 2010 configuration. But make sure you don't delete the “Servers” folder itself.

Uppgrading Exchange 2007 from sp1 to sp3 on small business server 2008 sp1

Hello everyone
I know this topic has been discused many time in this froum. but i have to ask it again in my exact situation.
I have a realy unstable and unsafe server which i am planing to migrate all the apps and services to some virtual servers soon.
first migrating is Exchange. i have Exchange 2007 sp1 on my server sbs 2008. i have my DC,AD, dns, DHCP, File, etc on the same server as well . So that is way it is scary for me (as i am not really experienced) to even upgrade one service pack.
Now, i want to know if anyone did it before. What should i expect during upgrading or after that? so i can be ready for that?
which kind of backup can save me if somethings happens to my Exchange? is there any way to install the new Exchange 2007 and sp3 rollup 10 and then migrate all databases and mailboxes to that new server? if yes, how to do that?

Hi Nima,
Ok, I know your concern. Please make sure you have read the above KB I provided before installing SP3 for Exchange 2007. What's more, you need to make sure you right mouse click and run as admin to install it.

Connecting clients to new server

Hi,
I'm going to move a group of macs to work to a new directory server. I tried to do it with a couple computers and it's been a bit difficult. I'm using open directory with clients connected to it, and using network homes. I deleted the previous server in Directory Access on the client, then added the new server (LDAP). When going into the login window names appear as they should, but it refuses passwords for all (but local) users.
Any tips?? Am I doing the right thing? Thanks!!

Try deleting the old preference files before resetting via Directory Access...
/Library/Preferences/DirectoryService
Check server logs to see what communication (if any) is getting through, e.g...
/Library/Logs/PasswordService

My ipod touch is frozen blank w/ just the time and full batt. charge icon on top. No response to anything. Would prefer not to restore as i lost most of my music files on my old comp and do not have them on my new itunes. Please help!

Help please! My ipod touch has been acting a little funny lately (freezing often, running out of battery even though it's off, skipping or stopping tracks...). Now it's just plain frozen- it will not respond to holding the middle button down for long periods of time or the off button. it is just blank except for up top still has the same text as usual "ipod" with the time in the center and a full battery charge icon. I have tried everything but restoring as I will lose 85% of my music b/c my old files were lost when my old computer died and now are only on the ipod. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I created a new i tunes account and I am trying to add music to my I pod touch but since I had an old account it will not let me add any new songs or let me transfer my existing songs to the new account. I also purchased one song and it did not download

I just opened a new I tunes account. The music that I purchased from an old account will not transfer to my new account & the old account email no longer exists it is (djbdeercreek613@com***t.net) and the password would not be accepted when we entered it. I also purchased one song "Country Must Be Country Wide" By Brentley Gilbert and it did not download to my i-pod. please let me know how I can get this problem taken care of.
