Old FaceTime update stuck in App Store Updates

I must not have updated FaceTime before I updated to Mountain Lion (now on 10.8.2), because I have permanently stuck in my App Store Updates and update for FaceTime Version 1.0.2 Released Mar 22, 2011.
How Can I get this out of my MAS Updates?
Thanks!

Thanks for the confirmation with the shot. I think I may know what's happening here. The one inside your Applications folder is probably the correct version which you entioned. The MAS probably sees an older version on another partition. Have you used superduper before or any other backup app for related purposes?
Can you use your spotlight to see where else copies of FaceTime may be installed? Thanks.

Try going into your account details on iTunes, change your info there, then sync your devices.

  • HT5672 Hi guys , can i update my old macbook to OSX via app store payment?

Hi guys , it is my fiorst so dont laugh!! i need to update my old macbook ( 2009 series) into OSX Lion
can i do it remotely , vioa paying through app store?

Step number one - Back up all your important data!
Seriously, it sounds like you are working without backups. Don't ever do this. Hard drives fail, it is a fact of life. Don't be one of those who get caught without a backup. An external hard drive, burning it all to DVDs, or online backup will save you frustration and money.
Two - don't expect a new operating system to improve performance. Get the computer running as best as it can before you upgrade. You may need more RAM or a bigger hard drive.

  • Safari 8.0.2 stuck in App Store update loop

Shortly after updating to Yosemite (10.10.1) the App Store notified me of the Safari 8.0.2 update. I have not been able to successfully apply the update; every time I try, the App Store gets stuck in a loop where it appears to download and install the update, but actually won't. Immediately after this "fake install", Safari is added to the list of recently-updated apps, but I'm still prompted to update it.
This issue was presented in the following thread, but no resolution suggested in that thread has worked thus far:Safari 8.0.2 will not install

    Hi
This was really bugging me too and no thanks to Apple for helping us out!
Here's how I've just fixed it:
Go to System Preferences and select the App Store (4th row 3rd in on mine) and uncheck all the boxes. Quit Safari and open the App Store from your Applications folder (or anywhere else you might have it) and then try the update again. Mine has finally worked after the umpteenth time. I think its set-up to download from iTunes and the two get confused but by doing this it works!! You may want re-check those boxes in System Preferences/App Store afterwards?
    Enjoy

  • How do I remove an old apple ID from the APPS Store

I gave my 27 inch iMac to my dad and thought I had everything deleted off my IMAC before I gave it to him.  I created an Apple ID for him; however, when we try to download updates from the APP Store it comes up with my old apple ID and asks me for the password to my old apple ID.  We are able to log into ICoud and ITunes using his new apple ID but for some reason the old apple ID keeps coming up in the APP Store box when we try to download an update and the old apple ID is "grayed out" in the APP Store box and we cannot type over it.  If we open up the app store and use the drop down menu, we are able to type in his new apple ID and purchase apps. I have tried signing out of the APP Store and ICloud and iTunes and the APP Store will not let go of my old original apple ID.  An apple ID is nothing more than a "User ID" and I have never heard of a user ID that could not be deleted or changed!!!  I am a former long time PC user and I like the Apple products, but the whole iCloud, Apple ID business seems very complicated to me. I am dreading carrying a 27 inch computer to the Apple store to fix something that should not be so complicated.

An apple ID is nothing more than a "User ID"
Actually, it is more than that. If you read the licensing agreements for any OS version or app obtained at the app store, it will become clear: the license for any app or OS obtained at the app store is not transferable. Hence it is tied to your Apple ID and will remain so - it cannot be removed.
You are supposed to remove anything obtained at the app store from the computer before giving/selling it. Your father will also not be able to reinstall the OS if need be.
Which OS version was on the Mac originally? You will need to use internet recovery (Command + Option + R) to erase your drive and then reinstall the original OS (if Lion or later). If it came with an install DVD, boot from that, erase the drive and reinstall. After that, your father can very easily download/update/reinstall any OS or app using his own Apple ID.

Preparing a 2nd Hand Mac for use -
You need to erase the HDD, reinstall the version of OS X that shipped from the factory on the Mac and then set it up as new with your own Apple ID.

  • HT5312 Old apple ID on the Apps Store won't go away !, I have a new ID and password, old ID requests password that is forgotten together with the info to retrieve it! Help?

I was not familiar with the system and the first ID and password with the information required to retrieve forgotten ! Old ID pops up when trying to do Updates for Certain programs and it will not go away I do not remember how to access that particular ID and can't. Get rid of it or perform updates for Cretan things...! Help anyone?

iTunes and Mac App Store content is forever tied to the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one ID to another and Apple does not merge Apple IDs. The only way that you can redownload content, update content and authorize the content's use on Macs, PCs and iOS devices is with the Apple ID used to buy it.
You can throw away free content and buy it again with your new Apple ID if the content is still available. But to keep using free content no longer available in the iTunes and Mac App Stores, as well as, the paid content, you will need to rehabilitate the Apple ID that was used to buy it.
Use one of these methods to contact the Account Security Team for help resurrecting the old Apple ID.

Telephone Apple Care for your country and ask for the Account Security Team, then request help.

  • Previous Apple ID stuck in Apps Store and won't allow password reset

Hi all - hoping someone can help me with a problem I have had with my Apple ID for some time, as I canot find any solution in the posts already listed.
I had to create a new Apple ID for security reasons and am able to use this for everything except the Apps store.  When I try to get a new app or update an existing one, it prompts me fopr the password for my previous Apple ID.  When I enter the password, I am prompted to reset this (as Apple no longer recognises it) but both answers to my authentication questions are flagged as incorrect answers (which I kow they're not) or when I choose to reset by e-mail, the e-mail isn't generated to me, so I can't reset the password.
I have tried signing in and out using all possible connotations of the previous and existing passwords but this hasn't made any difference.  I understand I can't delete the previous ID but not being able to get new apps or update existing apps is driving me crazy.
Any help to resolve this would be really appreciated.
    Many thanks
    Gavin

  • I bought a new iPad at some unauthorized dealer. They said I needed to pay to activate it, registrate it and to activate the app such as youtube, facetime, itunes and the app store. Is this true?

Please help as I really don't know anything about this.

No, this is NOT true at all.
You are able to use the Youtube, iTunes, and the App Store as soon as you want without activating these Apps.
You will need an internet connection to use these Apps though.
*Facetime will NOT work in UAE by law.
Facetime DOES need to be Activated.

  • FaceTime Beta (1.1.1) and FaceTime 1.0 (Mac App Store)

What's the difference between FaceTime 1.1.1 (Beta) and the one in the Mac App Store?  Am I missing out on any features?  Should I buy or no?  Thanks!

The Mac App Store FacTime is for OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard only.
With OSX 10.7 Lion FaceTime became part of OSX.

  • Stuck on apps store page

I'm stuck at the apps store page on my iTunes Store in iTunes. There is not button which will take me to the music store or the movies store (for example).
    Please help. Thanks.

    Saw this on another post.
Applecare Senior Advisor Txx Bxxx (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it!   It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year. Then see if you can connect to the store.

  • Stuck on Apps Store, can't access Music Store

Since logging into the Apps store, I've been unable to get into the music store. Home button just brings me back to Apps store home. Is the Music store not activated in my home country (Singapore) or something? Help!

I am in Singapore and I can no longer access the App Store from iTunes! Clicking the categories or using the search function returns the "We could not complete your iTunes Store Request. An unknown error occurred (504)." error.
Any thoughts as to why this would suddenly start? I was able to use it up until a few days ago--maybe until November 6th.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • What is the difference between regular FaceTime and the Mac App Store FaceTime?

The one in the App Store costs €0,89. How is this one differend?

    Yup.
The difference is about a bit.
It's a bit that, when set, allows a database to be in a permanent state of recovery, allowing repeated applications of redo. When a particular recovery operation has finished applying its quota of redo, the database sits there waiting for the next dollop.
A normal controlfile doesn't have that bit set, and when you do 'recover database' to it, it gets to the end of the redo stream and says 'Media Recovery Complete'. No further redo can then be applied to that database, meaning you can't keep a normal database in a permanent state of being recovered.
