Old flash player
I an trying to find an older version of flash player to download as my system has downloaded the latest version and some of my older games will not run. The automatic update is looking for Adobe "Flash(tm)Player" and will not run the game with the newer version installed, now in catch22 mode help please.
The (tm) is simply a statement of Trademark and it has nothing to do at all with functionality of the installer. The downloads at the link I provided are the "official" (and trademarked - whether the file name says so or not) installers from Adobe. You will not find a more legitimate installer than that.

I am running Windows XP.
my firefox deleted the existing adobe flash player 10.3.183.7 BUT I'm unable to download the new flash drive 10.3.183.10. Now I can't play anything. Can I go back to the old flash player (10.3.183.7)?''There is something wrong with the download that Adobe is pointing too. You can get the working download here:
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_10.exe
That solved my problem immediately.
I got this info from this post on the Adobe forum:
http://forums.adobe.com/message/3947097#3947097
Flash Download Problems
WindowsXP SP3
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:6.0.2) Gecko/20110902 SeaMonkey/2.3.3
(Note well: Internally, SeaMonkey 2.3.3 is the same as Firefox 6.0.2. They both use the same Gecko 6.0.2 for rendering Web pages, interfacing with the Internet, downloading, etc.) They differ only in the user interface (menus, buttons, etc).
I see two problems when trying to download a new version of Flash Player from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/. .
1. Your Web server is sniffing for my browser. I select the "Download now" button, and I get the same page all over again. The navigation is looping. If I spoof Firefox 6.0.2, however, I do get a download. This means you are sniffing for "Firefox" when you should be sniffing for "Gecko".
2. While spoofing Firefox, the download gives me install_flashplayer10_chrd_aih.exe, which is not the installer for Flash Player 10.3.183.10. Instead, it is some kind of helper. To get the correct installer file, I had to search my archives to find the URI http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win /install_flash_player_10.exe.
Both of these problems were previously cited in this forum at http://forums.adobe.com/message/3885371. Neither problem has been fixed. -

There never was standalone player for download. It only comes
exclusively with the installation
of Flash application. Publicly available players are only
browser based. If you have an old Flash app,
then you can get the player. That's the only way to have
standalone, installing Authoring flash program.
By the way, when you say "lots of other people...", what you
mean? I see this post first time
in the forum... Perhaps you use wrong phrasing and the thing
you are looking for is not Standalone
Player?

HP printer software includes old flash player that poses critical security risks
I would like to use the HP Solution Center for a Photosmart C309a printer but the HP software includes an older flash player (Adobe Flash Player 9.0 r115) that poses critical security risks.
HP includes this old flash version at:
C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\Digital Imaging\help\player\FlashPla.exe
Is there a way to update this HP program file to a safe version of Flash Player?
I think this is a generec security issue, but if it helps I run Windows 7 64-bit.Hello dghdah,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I understand you are looking for an updated version of Adobe Flash Player to use with Solution Center. When you install the Solution Center, normally Windows would skip the older version as your OS may have an up to date version. If this is not the case and the older version installed, you would need to update the flash player. Below I have linked you to the Adobe website to complete the update.

Installing new and uninstalling old Flash Player
I installed the latest Adobe Flash Player version on my iMac. Now I keep getting an icon and window telling me to install Flash player everytime I click on my hard drive.
When I click to go ahead and install, I receive the message that a later version of Adobe Flash is already installed and that therefore this version cannot be installed.
How can I get this older version to quit popping up telling me to install it every time I click on my hard drive? I put it in the trash, but it comes back again and again when I click on my hard drive icon on the desktop! When you click on your hard drive? Opening the Mac HD uses Finder. Flash Player doesn't even factor into that.
Are you sure you aren't seeing it every time you open Safari?
And is THIS what you're seeing? -

You could try completely removing Flash and starting over using the uninstaller which should be in your Utilities folder and called 'Adobe Flash Player Install Manager'. That should get rid of all traces of Flash, then redownload and run the installer from: http://www.get.adobe.com/flashplayer -
Flash Player thinks I have an old OS
I am using a Mac with OS 10.8.5 and Safari 6.1. Flash Player Installer will not work--it says "General Error" whenever I use it--so I tried the direct download, which didn't work either. I have uninstalled my old Flash Player and restarted the machine. When I use the Cocoa installer, the installer tells me I have OS 10.6, which is not the case. What do I do?

Hi all,
I have a Flash Media Streaming Server 4.0 running for more than a year now.
I protect the access to my server through the "allowedHTMLdomains.txt and allowedSWFdomains.txt feature" (amongst other things...).
We noticed that with Firefox 10.0.2 (last version) and Flash Player 11.1.102.62 (last version) our customers can't connect anymore.
In the admin console we can read things like :
Authentication failed for pageurl: http://my.domain.com, rejecting connection from XXX.XXXXXX.XXX
If i try from the same computer with another browser, i get

I can't find any significant difference...
I didn't change anything in my configuration since the beginning, and the application was working without probleme with every version of Browser/FlashPlayer untill now.
I suppose this is a bug, from Firefox or FlashPLayer or FlashMediaServer.
Is there anyone from Adobe that could help me to solve this or "workaround" this, knowing that i must use the security features.
Thank you very much for your help!
SamOk for the timeline.
For your workaround : it was already the case : i had only domains in my allowedDomains.
I'll have to turn off this feature, and after the update of the flash player, hope that not too many people will stuck to the old flash player version...
Thx for your help anyway! -
*Flash Player 11.3.300.262 is not working with Firefox. I think I found the problem.*
Millions of people got off work & turned on there computers recently to discover that Firefox is not playing any videos or flash content. Just like me, millions of people are randomly searching the internet in a futile & frustrating attempt at answers. Unfortunately, many of those people will simply stop using firefox & deem it a glitchy, unreliable browser.
This happened to me a couple days ago. I started up my computer & got a pop-up from Adobe saying that I need to update my flash player to 11.3.300.262. I've always thought of adobe as being a reliable software company, so I clicked on it with confidence that things will be working even smoother. To my horror, I relalized that right after the update, my main browser, firefox was destroyed. Then I went on the frustrating process of uninstalling, re-installing, running virus scan, researching the internet like a lost child. I said to myself, "that's why I hate updating stuff, because updates always seem to change stuff you don't want it to change & there always seems to be a problem with the updates." I usualy update software months after it releases, because microsoft & all the other software companies always seem not to test there stuff properly before releasing them. Then we have to look at a glitchy computer until the next update fixes it. Well, that is my rant. Now let me discuss the problem I found.
Problem:
What I did was, go into my firefox extentions menu & I disabled the 11.3.300.262 & I re-enabled the previous flash player. After that, everything worked perfect again. Then a today (a week later), I turned on my computer & my firefox wasn't playing any videos or flash content again. I went into my firefox extenions menu again, & I discovered that my old flash player had been deleted, & this new glitchy 11.3.300.262 had been enabled. Why did adobe feel the need to into my computer & automaticly delete & update my flash player. Now it doesn't work. THIS IS REALY FRUSTRATING!
The Issue I discovered:
"RealPlayer" is the most popular video program & it is installed on millions of computers. For some strange reason Firefox does not want its users to use Real Player. Specifically the RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin 15.0.2. I also discovered that my Browser Record Plugin 15.0.2 was automatically disabled when the Adobe 11.3.300.262 was automatically updated also.
- Maybe this could be because of some copyright conspiracy to keep people from downloading videos from the web.
- Maybe firefox wants people to use there download add-on instead of RealPlayers downloader.
I don't know what ther reason is. But what I do know is Nobody is going to delete there RealPlayer from there computer just to use FireFox. We can simply use Chrome or Internet explorer. I took the advise from Adobe & disabled the FireFox RealPlayer Extention. I also went into my RealPlayer preferences options, But there was no option to disable download recording from FireFox. BECAUSE I ALREADY DISABLED THE ADD-ON in FireFoxes menu.
Solution:
Step 1: Adobe needs to update all the computers with the previous flash player. That way we can choose to enable the previous flash player in our FireFox. or wait until a new update fixes the problem with firefox.
Step 2: Adobe & FireFox need to get together & go back to the drawing board. They need to create a update that actually works on computers that have Real Player installed on them. I don't care which company does the update. All I care about is if it works. Thank You.
Oh yea, Im running FireFox 13.0.1, Windows 7, HP computer, Real Player is up to date.Hey Chris,
I was able to duplicate this issue on my Windows 7 laptop as follows:
1) Completely uninstall FlashPlayer (using your tool) as well as Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Maintenance Service (used Windows 7 - uninstall from Control Panel). Please note that I checked the box that said "Remove my Firefox personal data and customizations" to ensure that Firefox was completely gone from my laptop.
2) I then went out to the Firefox website and downloaded the "Firefox Setup 13.0.1.exe" app to my laptop. I ran this app to install Firefox.
3) I then went to the following website http://www.ishmael.org.uk/karaoke02.php as I know that this URL uses Flash Player (obviously you can go to any URL that uses Flash Player - I'm just letting you know which one I used). I then clicked on the icon on this page to install Flash Player.
Once the install was completed, the URL stops responding and appears to be locked up (although it will occassionally hiccup and display portions of the page and then lock up again). You will eventually get a pop-up notice from Firefox that has the header "Warning: Unresponsive script" and says the following:
A script on this page may be busy or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to to see of the script will complete. Script: chrome://browser/content/browser.js:6551
Selecting "Stop script" will get Firefox working until you hit another page that uses Flash Player.
To ensure that the above URL is not the culprit, I used one from your website http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html and had the same results.
Hope this info helps!
Jeff
NOTE: As a reminder, I do not have RealPlayer installed on my laptop (and never have had it installed) -
[ADOBE] Resolving Windows Flash Player permission-related issues 9/2007
Printable, formatted versions of these steps, valid as of
9/15/2007 are available. I recommend printing them and following
along with the print version:
.doc:
http://www.supportflash.com/bent/flash_player_ocx_troubleshooting.doc
.pdf:
http://www.supportflash.com/bent/flash_player_ocx_troubleshooting.pdf
The issue is this: You have multiple accounts on your XP
machine. One account plays Flash no problem, the other doesn't,
although both are Administrator accounts. Or possibly you have only
one account, and that account fails to play any Flash content. In
any case if you have ANY odd trouble with the Flash Player ActiveX
control for Windows as of September 2007, these should be your
steps. And yes, you need to do both sets of steps, in order!
The cause: This is usually caused by either or BOTH of the
following problems:
1. Leftover locked bits of an old Flash Player installation
2. Registry permission errors (aka 'ACL's)
OK so what do you do about this?
ONE: Identify possibly leftover Flash player bits
a. Open C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash folder.
b. Download the latest FP uninstaller from
http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157.
c. Run the uninstaller. If you get a notice saying you need
to reboot, then reboot.
d. Look at C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash folder.
e. Does any file ending in .ocx remain? (flash.ocx,
flasha.ocs, flash9d.ocx etc...)
e1. If no, then you don't usually have any leftover locked
bits.
You're done with this part of the problem, proceed to TWO.
e2. If yes, then that remaining .ocx file may be locked.
Right click it
and select properties and look at the version tab.
What is the version number?
f. Is the version number Flash Player 9.0.16.0 or earlier?
f1. Use the uninstaller instructions from this technote:
http://www.adobe.com/go/4da116d3
-- section "Flash Player 9.0.16.0 and earlier"
-- DO NOT re-register the uninstaller. ONLY do this
UninstFl.exe part.
Yes, you'll need to know how to use the command line to do
this. If you're not
comfortable with that then take your machine to someone who
is!
g. Is the version number Flash Player 9.0.28.0 or higher?
g1. Use the uninstaller instructions from this technote:
http://www.adobe.com/go/4da116d3
-- section "Flash Player 9 (9.0.28.0) and later"
-- DO NOT re-register the uninstaller. ONLY do this
UninstFl.exe part.
In both the D and E sections above you'll need to use the
specific name of the control that remains
in the C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash. So if you had a
stuck flash9b.ocx[DJM1] in the folder
and version was 9.0.28.0, your uninstall command would look
like this:
UninstFl.exe -u
c:\windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\Flash9b.ocx
That said, if you have trouble running these commands it
really is necessary to find someone who knows how
to use the command line, either a friend or a local
professional. Or spend some time learning about the
command line yourself.
h. RERUN the uninstaller you downloaded earlier. This should
get rid of the remaining (now unlocked) .ocx file and fix any
registry keys associated with it.
ALL of section "ONE: Identify possibly leftover Flash player
bits" is important. BUT this locked bit problem only happens on
maybe one out of 50 machines. So most people with installation
problems such as this are not going to have locked bits.
AND even after reinstalling you may still have continued
problems with Flash Player not being recognized.
Then we have to move on to section two..
TWO: Registry Permission Problems
We have been working on Flash Player failures caused by
Windows System Registry issues. We have not been able to determine
what’s causing these permissions to change. But that change
prevents the successful installation of Flash Player ActiveX
control (used by IE Windows).
Registry permission problems can be resolved using a tool
called SubInACL, built by Microsoft to correct system registry
issues.
Symptoms: What to look for:
1. If you install Flash Player on IE and are unable to see
Flash content on any webpage
2. After installation C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash
will have flash 9c.ocx in it but it failed to register
3. It appears that Flash Player installed correctly, but
unable to view Flash content
4. Flash Player works on other browsers, but NOT Internet
Explorer
5. If you are missing groups in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT Advanced
Permissions
6. If you have run registry cleaners in the past, this may
have corrupted your system
Warning: The following solution involves the Windows System
Registry. Editing or manipulating the registry incorrectly can
result in serious system damage which may require re-installation
of the operating system. If you are not comfortable editing the
registry, then take your system to a professional. If you choose to
proceed, then it is essential that you create a complete system
backup and a Windows System Restore Point before proceeding. Adobe
Systems cannot be held responsible for damage resulting from this
information.
1. Select Start > Run
2. Type in “regedit”
3. Right click on HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
4. Select Permissions
5. Select Advanced
For Vista
Compare your permissions with the ones in this screenshot.
http://www.supportflash.com/vista_key.png
For Window XP Pro or other flavors of XP
Compare your permissions with the ones in this document
“Troubleshooting system registry issues that prevent Flash
Player installation” (scroll down to the bottom of page).
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=kb400116
Notice any major differences, missing groups, incorrect
permissions?
How can you repair the System Registry, what's the fix
Download SubInACL from Microsoft to fix permission issues
that prevent the Flash Player Installation.
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=fb1634cb
NOTE: The Microsoft version of the .cmd script run by
SubInACL is not be run on any XP version other than Pro. HOWEVER,
the Adobe .cmd script in the above technote is tested safe for ALL
VERSIONS OF XP!!!
If you have a Windows System Registry permission issue that
sounds like the one described above, SubINACL may be the solution.
Please note that if you have this issue on multiple accounts on one
machine you’ll need to fix each account individually.quote:

Hi Bentley
I've been having trouble with this for months and Asia
Pacific support has been no help at all, now they are telling me
that it it's a problem with my computer and they can't help me.
I tried the first step above and it does seem that I have a
locked component left over I think it is falsh9e.ocx. The version
is 9.0.115.0 is the trouble is I can't complete the fix. Can you
send me some detailed instructions to complete the step.
This has been very frustrating and your assistance would be
greatly appreciated.

I have windows vista and whenever I try to download the newest version of flash player it starts to download then says "Error:Failed to register" and when I try to sign in, it brings me to the sign in page for a split second then goes back to the previous screen. I am out of ideas of what to do. I do not want to uninstall the old flash player unless I am 100% sure the new one will work. PLEASE HELPPPP!
I don't understand the part about the "sign-in page"; where is that?
From the error message I understand that you are on Windows.
I would first try to run the offline installer from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#mai n-pars_header

Installing Flash player fails AGAIN on Win 7
Recently I had discussed here a problem with installing Flash Player on 32-Bit Windows 7, which was solved by help in this forum.
Now I had a similar problem with 64-Bit Windows 7 with Flash Player for Mozilla. Installation just said that it failed, without giving further explanation.
Following the advice I got in http://forums.adobe.com/message/3919367#3919367, I downloaded an installer explicitly from http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/.
This website redirected me to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/, from where I downloaded http://aihdownload.adobe.com/bin/install_flashplayer11x64_mssd_aih.exe.
Running this program went on for about 20 minutes, and finally resulted in the error message: "Installation encountered errors: Actionlist not found".
What else can I do to install flash player?
RonaldTrycie wrote:

That is not a direct download link; it's a download helper stub. In fact this is an old Flash Player link that is not even working any more. I have no idea why you would want to post this in a more than two years old topic... -

The download stops at 25%. I uninstalled the old Flash player and trashed all to old files, so now I have no flash player at all. Safari said I needed tp download a new version.

"The ActiveX control for flash player could not be registered."
Xp Pro 32 bit, SP3, 3.6.8 (seems to install ok on Mozilla, but I am keeping it off for now, for peace of mind).
IE 7.0.5730.11
I have tried quite a few of the things on the first page of this [url]http://forums.adobe.com/thread/662582#2905677[url/]Hi, I think Pat suggested the SubInACL link. It has helped users before. If you have tried it and it didn't help then I don't see any need to repeat it. What I would like you to do before we do anything else, is to take a look at the Revised Adobe Troubleshooting Guide than came out on 7/21/10. It has a section on Permissions needed to Install Flash Player and something you can do rather easily to confirm that you do have permissions.

I just finished working with someone that had RealPlayer and the add ons and no matter how many times he Disabled the add ons, they would automatically re-enable themselves during the Reboot(during the Uninstall/Install) So you could try to Disable them and check right after running the Uninstall and after the first Reboot.
Since you used the DLM, check in your IE add ons to see if there is a getplus, get_atlcom Class or a DLM Control listed.
If so, Disable them all.
The Uninstaller is used to remove old Flash Player files. If you want to check your Flash folder, or have done so and can confirm that there are no Flash files whatsoever, then no you don't need to use it.
I would still Disable SuperAntiSpyware during the Install. The Windows Firewall would not block Flash Player, but you can Disable it if you like.
While you are doing that I'll give you the link for the McAfee Removal Tool unless you have it.
Thanks,
eidnolb
