Old G3 Panther upgrade to New eMac + Office

I have a G3 iMac running Panther. I've bought an eMac running Tiger, and would appreciate some tips on how I can transfer my documents and Entourage identity to the new machine.
Also, I'll also be upgrading from Office v.X to Office 2004, so any additional help in transfering identities would be appreciated!

Hi everyone! First of all I would like to thank you in advance!
Recently I upgraded my old HDD on my MacBookPro. I made a clone of the old disk, installed the new one in the MBP and putted the old one in external enclosure. Now I'm trying to use the old disk with the enclosure, but it doesn't appear in Finder, it appears in Disk Tools, but I can not perform any actions on it. I tried to erase it, but with no success! The old disk is GPT protected and I don't know what to do. Tried to erase it with Windows and Linux with no success neither. I know the enclosure works because it recognize every other disk, but my old one is untouchable to my Mac OS! I'm looking for possible ideas on how to make my old HDD usable with the enclosure?

New eMac owner, looking to upgrade

Just picked up an eMac last week. It's my first Mac and I'm really enjoying it so far. I am looking to do a few upgrades though.
It has the small 40GB HD which I'd like to replace with either a 250 or 320GB.
- What do I need to look for? Will a HD like this one work?

I'd also like to bump up the RAM. Any PC2700/3200 will do correct? Is 2GB a gamble or is it alright to go that big.
Oh and the Superdrive is really noisy, should I be concerned and swap it out or just leave it be?

I suppose you could, but the enclosure will run you only about $30 and not only will it make the transfer much easier since it will save you all that time reinstalling the OS, updates, security patches, etc. etc. but will give you a place to continue to use the internal drive you pulled out of the eMac. Otherwise that internal drive will just go to waste.
I don't know if your new Superdrive will just show up natively under the OS and you will be all set and can boot the computer off the install CDs. Hopefully it will.
But if it doesn't, then you will have to re-open the eMac, put the original Combo drive back in, close it up, boot from the install CDs, install the OS, shut down, open the eMac again, swap the optical drives, close it up for the third time, then boot and install whatever you need to get the new Superdrive working.
Just to give you an idea, I swapped the hard drive in my eMac once using the method of first cloning the old drive to the new drive in an enclosure. Total time to open eMac, swap hard drives (including putting the old one in the enclosure), close eMac and start booting again was about 45 minutes taking my time. If you have to do it three times that's about 2 hours and 15 minutes of opening and closing not counting the time it takes to install the OS on the new drive (say 15-30 minutes not including time to download and install various updates and security patches). So getting close to 3 hours.
Just my opinion of course, but the $30 seems cheap compared to that sort of aggrivation.

I can not delete my history and adding new bookmarks. Upgrading to later Firefox versions and/or re-installing didn't help. The address bar still shows the web addresses of old and whenever I make new bookmarks, it's always gone as if it was never made.

Also, I have noticed that every once in awhile you can not close tabs you've opened, either by pushing on the X button and/or clicking on the mouse to close it. Although closing the window and opening it again (without closing the Firefox application) seemed to rectify the problem in the short term, it's becoming quite annoying.

First, download the add-on SQManager. This should be included with FireFox, it is really good.
Look for the file '''moz_hosts''' in the folder '''places.sqlite'''.
Don't delete the file, just delete the information in the file. My file has over 3600 websites, which go back years!! I did not know they were there, but I was frustrated about not being able to get rid of them. They popped up every time I used the address bar. Clearing my history would not get rid of them.
This is where they are stored!! I found that by deleting the pesky web site from '''moz_hosts''', it does not appear in my address bar anymore!!!
I think that if I just delete all the websites in moz_hosts....

As long as you don't delete the file, just empty it, FireFox won't know the difference. It will just keep adding websites to it until you empty it again.
Why running "clear recent history" doesn't do this, I don't know. You are doing manually what "clear recent history" is not doing.
Please tell me if you see any flaw in this.

Don't know if there is an option make the download window stay up, but you can bring it back with Ctrl+J then right-click on the download to open the folder it was downloaded to.

It is not necessary to delete your old wireless networks first, but doing so may eliminate confusion. If you wish to do that, open System Preferences > Network, and select Wi-Fi from the left column. Click the Advanced... button, then select your old wireless networks and delete them with the "–" (minus) button. Make sure the "Remember networks this computer has joined" remains checked.
OK then Apply.
This prevents your Mac from searching for your previous network which will no longer exist.
A new Express creates an open wireless network that you must select before you can configure it. It appears in your Wi-Fi menu like this:
Select it. AirPort Utility will load and walk you through its configuration.
Edit: If you are really using OS X 10.5.1 as shown in your profile, the above screenshot is not applicable. Instead, select the network called "Apple network nnnnnn" and then launch AirPort Utility.

Check with Kaspersky as to what versions of Firefox their programs are compatible with. It is up to Kaspersky to keep their stuff up to date as Mozilla releases new versions of Firefox. And if they are unwilling or incapable of doing it, they should inform their customers of such and maybe refund their customers instead of stringing them along.
