Old games on new Computer..........Help! IM Stupid!!!

I recently purchased a G5 imac. I cant play my old games (Diablo 2, Heroes, Age of Empires) on Mac os X because it says it cant find Mac OS 9.1. I dont think I should have to buy the old software and I dont know what to do. It doesnt make sense that the developers didn't account for this. Please give me help, Thanx!

think I lost all that software
Steffan, the DVD's or CD's that come with your computer should be treated like gold. There are many, many good reasons for ALWAYS keeping them in a safe place. Chances are you will need them for troubleshooting purposes one day. They will even increase the resale value of your Mac if should ever want to sell it (just ask any regular in the iMac G3 forum what they think about people buying older imacs that DON'T come with these disks.)
If you really have lost them then you should be able to get a replacement set from Apple, by quoting your model and serial number , etc. You will have to pay a fee for them, but it is well worth doing.
Cheers

I need to install a volume license for Adobe Acrobat Pro from an old to a new computer
I have the correct License Key which I checked on Adobe License site but when I enter it
    is says it's incorrect

    Problem solved,
I found the original Adobe installation files on our system that we used to first intall Acrobat Pro.
Using these files with the correct volume license key we were able to install the programme on our new Computers.
I was also informed by Adobe Help that I could also download these file from the Adobe License website after logging in.

Click on Licenses / Download and then Software
Hope this might help anyone else with the same problem

  • How to sync ipod games to new computer without losing old games on ipod?!?!

I bought a game for my 5th gen ipod and it worked fine, yadda yadda yadda. Well, tha computer I bought it with died and now I have a new one. I've bought another game, but am afraid if i sync it to my ipod, it will delete my old games. Any way around this? Thanks

Be very careful when connecting an iPod full of music to an empty iTunes library. There is very real risk of permanently losing all the music.
To prevent auto sync, before you connect the iPod go to the iTunes preferences and select "devices", then select "disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods".
An alternative method is to connect the iPod whilst holding down the 'control+shift' keys and do not let them go until your iPod appears in iTunes.
If you see a message that your iPod is associated with a different library and asks if you want to link to a new one, make sure you press "Cancel".
If you should click on "Erase and Sync" will erase all the content currently on your iPod and it will be replaced with the content of the iTunes library you just connected to.
When you've pressed cancel your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list under "devices" and allow you to change the update setting to manage the iPod content manually, and that will let you use your iPod for the time being without the risk of accidentally erasing the contents.
Then do any of the following to transfer your music from iPod back to the computer/iTunes.
For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.

Once you've done that, you can sync your iPod to iTunes as normal.

Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola and iDump and iPodRobot.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • Help with iweb.. opening old site on new computer

I made a iweb website on my old computer, i transfered files to my new computer's hardrive but it wont open in iweb. all saved as files html and opens the page on the web. how do i get the new version of iweb to recognize these files so i can make edits?

The short answer is that you don't and you can't.  You have actually saved the wrong files, because iWeb has no import facility, so is unable to open html files at all.
The files that will have been saved and which you need to transfer are the domain.sites files and these can be found under your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites.  Ensure that you do look in your User/Library and NOT your System Library, because iWeb is not there.
Find your domain.sites files and transfer these to your new Mac and then double click on the files to open them.
Have a look at other discussions for instructions on how to make your User Library file visible in both Lion and Mountain Lion.

  • New computer, help transferring!!!

    Hi!
Recently, I got a new computer (laptop, Fujitsu Lifebook). I installed iTunes to it, but cannot transfer my old music to this computer. We took out the external harddrive bay and we can access all our other documents (Microsoft word and such) but our old music will not download to this computer!!! I tried just plugging my iPod in to this new computer, but it didn't do anything.
Can anyone please help me??? I really want to put some new stuff on my iPod but I can't!!!

There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

  • Can I move Photoshop from my old to my new computer?

I purchased a new computer. Can I uninstall Photoshop from my old and install it on my new computer?

you are licensed for two concurrent installations/activations so you do not have to uninstall it.
but, if you no longer have use for the previous install then, before you uninstall it, you should deactivate (help>deactivate) it.

I have a new laptop and wanted to start using it as the main computer to sync/download for my iPod touch. So I download/install the newest version of iTunes, I plug in my iPod touch and it sycs my music, but not my podsacts and other items.
Queation 1. How can I get all the items off my old computer iTunes and loaded into the new one on my laptop ????
Question 2. is it possiable to sync the full contents of the ipod touch to the new computer.
if it helps, I have authorized the new account on the new laptop, and selected sync all podcasts,,,but I got an error message regarding that it cannot sync them.
Thanks for looking and I thank you for your help.
    Sincerely- Doug

    Hi There-
Thanks for the advise, I did that option and it brought over all my apps, but still none of my podcasts. the message says that it con not sync the podcasts because it says, the podcasts selected for syncing no longer exist. I guess I'll have to re-subscribe, but I think there has to be a better way to get what I have on my iPod to iTunes,,,just like the App's and my Music.

  • How to load more music to old ipod, on new computer ...

I think I am SOL but gonna ask anyways ...
For years, when I plugged my ipod shuffle into the computer, it would automatically load a screeen where I could see all my music on my ipod, play, add, delete, etc ...
Son rebuilt my laptop (includes new hard drive, new Window's install, etc) and there is NOTHING of the old left ...
So think, oh, I need to install itunes again ... did that ... but the new itunes program, and my ipod will not communicate ...
Son says I probably have to log into itunes (he doesnt use an ipod) .. No dice ... if I ever knew the info, I dont know now ... Tried every combo of email addy and passwords possible .. nope, not working ...
So question number one is ... Is there any way to access what IS on my ipod to make it work as it used to?
    or
#2 - I have created a new Apple account, but how do I make the itunes program talk to my ipod? Luckily I DO have most of my songs backed up/stored on a network drive...
Please, if you can help, dumb down your response, as I am not computer savvy LOL.

No not without deleting everything on their with a shuffle. Perhaps you could get the music off first and than reload it?
    For windows only
    1) If Itunes is already installed disk use may need to enabled so you can see the Ipod in my computer. Itunes hides your ipod from windows otherwise.
    2) Make sure you can view hidden files. In MY computer go to tools>folder options>view>show hidden files and folders.
    3) Windows should see the ipod and your music should be on your ipod in several hidden folders. To be safe I would copy it all to say your desktop.
    4) Install Itunes http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and the Ipod updater http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/ (if you don't already have it installed)
After that drag the copied folder to Itunes (drag and drop or in Itunes (File>add folder to library)
You may need to authorise your new computer by playing it in the library first.
There are third party software that will let you take the music of for windows and mac.

If you still have Access to the Old computer you used to Sync to...

    From your OLD computer...
Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..

  • Old game on new mac

Is there any way to play an old game (Traitors Gate) on my MacBook Pro. It's written for Mac OS 7.5. Are there any emulators out there? Or can I install OS 9 as a virtual machine (via Parallels or similar)? I have so many good adventure games that they just don't make anymore and have been itching to replay them since it's been so long and it would be as if playing them for the first time. (The other one is Titanic: Adventure Out of Time). I tried playing it in Vista (via Parallels) and even though it was do-able, it was very laggy.
(To think that the hardware that was available when the games were new pales in comparison to what's out there now and it seems as though the game is too much for my current computer...lol)

Hi! Short answer is No is isn't worth the effort. Tom
