Old HP Printer

Does anyone have an installation disc for a HP Deskjet 895Cse printer.  I purchase one at a flea market and learned when I got it home that it was missing the installation disk.  I would appreciate anyone's help.  Thanks

You can download drivers (or find instructions for using the drivers included in some operating ststems) by clicking here.    You can also print test pages without the drivers as described here.  Manuals and other troubleshooting information is availabls for download from HP here.

    5.  printer:  Lexmark Optra S 1255
    6.  bought a IEEE 1284 printer cable

    Explain #8.
Did you restart after adding the drivers?
If you open the System Profiler, under Firewire or Printers what do yo see?
    (Apple Menu/About this Mac/More Info/Firewire or Printer)
If it sees them then you know it's a configuration problem.

  • Will a USB-parallel adapter cable connect my MacBook to an OLD PC printer?

I have a very old laser printer of high quality and want to connect it (not wirelessly) to my MacBook. Does anyone know whether a USB-parallel adapter cable would do the job? Thanks,

Oh, a wrinkle: the printer has a cord coming out of it meant to plug (female) into a PC (male). So I'm wondering what to do. Any suggestions?

  • How do I return my old HP printer?

I saw a reference to returning my old HP Printer, presumably for recycling.  How do I do this.  Are there recycling centers or authorized locations?

You can return HP printers and equipment to Staples stores around the US, or they can be shipped via Fedex. To do the latter will require you to request a voucher from HP, then you can box it up and bring it to a FedEx drop-off point.
In the top right corner of this page is a Search box. Enter "printer recycle program" to go to a page with information.

Can my old HP print from my iPad using airport express.
If yes what can be done.
    Thank you.

You might be able to get the iPad to print to the HP by installing an App like Print Central on the iPad.
There are no guarantees that this will work, so worst case you will be out about $10 U.S.

  • Need Postscript for old Gestetner printer. Who can supply?

I need Postscript for an old Gestetner printer. Who can supply?

I assume you are asking for a source of upgrading a Gestetner printer to interpret PostScript as well as whatever other page description language the particular printer supports.
Gestetner was purchased by Ricoh in 1995 and was consolidated with Ricoh's Lanier division in 2007.
Any printer that is branded as Gestetner is probably quite old, but you may have luck checking on support for such a device (as well as availability of a PostScript option) by contacting Lanier.  Copiers, Printers, and Document Solutions from Lanier.

  • Printing: (old) Lexmark Printer via USB - Router - Arch

    Hey Guys,
i am trying to get my printer working on Arch.
    Printer: Lexmark T632
    Router: (Vodafone) EasyBox 802
    System: Arch
The printer is kinda old and does not have a network connection, so it is connected via usb with the router.
Printing works with windows (xp to 8).
At the moment i have cups installed, as well as "lexmark-inkjet-legacy".
Cups is working and i can access the network interface, also i can set up a printer. (i did, and its not working - when i try to print the interface says "Filter Failed")
What i did in windows to get it working:
    1. add a local printer
    2. create a new interface -> default TCP/IP
    3. enter ip of the router, in my case 192.168.2.1
    4. select the driver
    5. for devicetype select custom and not generic
    6. in this custom window select protokoll "lpr"
    7. and it works.
So, i tried doing this in cups:
    1. add printer, LPD/LPR Host or Printer
    2. entered ip: "192.168.2.1/515" (as 515 is his queue name given in the router settings), just "192.168.2.1" did not work
    3. enter name etc
    4. now i can either choose a specific driver, or upload a ppd file. i did the last one as the list does not contain my printer. The file i used for this is http://support.lexmark.com/index?docLoc … rlocale=EN
Now, if i try to print via "lpr filename", no error occurs. But in the networkinterface under "Jobs" under "State" says "stopped, Filter failed"
Guess this is because i dont have the right driver for my printer.
The Lexmark webside provides a .deb package for my printer, but installing this did not help (see http://support.lexmark.com:80/lexmark/i … id=DR21363 ) or get me more entries in the driver selection.
This download also provides a tool called "lexmark" where you can setup printers - but i did not figure out how to use this to set up an lpd printer.
does anyone has an idea what i could do?

Using a RPI has another advantage, you could setup SANE to act as a server together with xinetd, that way everybody in the house can use the scanner too, could be a lot of walking, though
I seldom use the scanner, so I decided to keep that one local, on the PI.
    Btw. Mine is also hardwired..

  • Help with Old Deskjet Printer

I have an old 660C and it goes through the process of printing but the pages are blank.  HP wont support it anymore!  I am looking for someone to help me fix it.  Will pay!  HELP!

The most likely suspect would be dried out or empty print cartridges.  I would start by printing a diagnostic test page as shown here.  If the page is totally blank then skip to the next paragraph.  If there are some wisps of black or color then try running a cleaning cycle up to three times.
If the page is blank then remove the cartridge and gently blot the printhead on a damp tissue.  If you do not get a strong black or three color stripes on the tissue the cartridge is at fault and will need to be replaced.

  • How do I get Firefox to recognize my new default printer as the old default printer is no longer connected?

I have installed a new default printer in my computer which is running Windows XP Pro. When I try to print from the browser it keeps showing the old printer which is no longer connected to the computer. Every other program has recognized the new default printer. The Control Panel indicates that the new printer is the default.

You can force Firefox into forgetting the old printer.
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # Locate the preference '''print.print_printer''', right-click on it and choose '''Reset'''
    # Restart Firefox

  • Mini doesn't recognize old Epson Printer

I am trying to connect a 1997 variety Epson 1520 printer to my Mini in order to print ledger size spreadsheets. I have intermittently used this printer with a Keyspan twin serial adapter on my ibook running OS 9 .
My mini is running OS 10.4.3. I downloaded the Keyspan (USA28X) software for OS X and gutenprint 5.0.0. I hooked up the keyspan adapter and the printer through one of the main usb ports. The computer sees the two keyspan ports. I go to add a printer and choose advanced but the printer does not show up.
If I click on USB printer, then I manally write it the Printer name and put in the keyspan's address (I think). Then I choose the software for the 1520 from the gutenprint list. The printer name shows up in print set up. I go to test print and get the message Printer not responding .
I am not certain I am writing the correct device url in the space. What is the correct way to write a printer url?
Are is it just two old for the keyspan and gutenprint to work. This one of the originals.

The Epson 1520 has a serial
bit rate of 1.8 Mbs I was going to try seeing if it
    would work at 7600
I can guarantee you that this won't work. The specs actually state a rate up to 1.8 Mbs and a flow control of XON/XOff. With the help of others, we have experimented with various Epson serial printers. We have tried baud rates from 57,600 to 230,400 in combination with flow control of XON/OFF and RTS/CTS. I have even tried the above combinations using two stop bits instead of the standard one stop bit. Epson serial printer just don't want to work via the serial port. It is not clear (and probably beyond my knowledge) whether the failure is due to Epson basing their printers on the RS-423 serial port standard as opposed to the standard Mac RS-422 serial port or whether it is their use of serial DMA or some other factor.
    the password problem on the
CUPS page stymied me. The password enabling patch
wouldn't work under 10.4 because it can't be loaded.
That is correct. I limited the patch to OS 10.3.x on purpose. There is no need for it in OS 10.2.x or in OS 10.4.x. The short username and password for an administrative user will work in both Jaguar and Tiger.
I just hate to have to go out and buy cables and a
new adapter for this old printer.
I understand your frustration. On the positive side, Epson started supporting parallel to USB adapters shortly after Apple dropped the serial port in favor of USB. These adapters also work in OS 9.x with the Epson drivers.

  • Need help hooking up an old laser printer to my wireless router

I have an old HP Laserjet4 Plus that has been a workhorse. I've had it for years and it still works great. Previously I was using it as my network printer, plugged into a WRTP54G Linksys Vonage router. That setup worked fine, but over time the router began to drop my connection over and over. I decided to buy a new router and leave the old one to only use as a Vonage device.
I bought a WRT54GL and got it going yesterday (with the help of Linksys tech support). It is now my front router and the old Vonage router is plugged into it just so my telephone service can work. Now my telephone works and my wireless connection works, but I am unable to make my network printer work.
I know that my laptop has the proper driver as the printer was working fine through the old router. What do I need to do to get my printer working again?
Also, I am not very technically savvy so please spell out any steps I need to take for a novice. Thanks so much for your consideration.

    yuppers you can.
but first write down that your rounter is now 192.168.15.1 not 192.168.1.1
after you made the last change did you have to restart your pc?
you will need to print out a status page like you did on the other. what is the current ip address it has? is it in the 192.168.15.xx range? if it is then what is it?  as long as its .3 or higher but not .100 - 49 then skip the next step.  keep in mind we want the printer to be static ip.
ok anyways, on your new printer you will need to set it to a static ip of 192.168.15.3 with a gateway of 192.168.15.1 and sub as 255.255.255.0 just like your other printer except the ip address off by one.
and in your pc right click on the printer > properties > ports > and either add 192.168.15.3 or modify the existing ip <<<really all we are doing is matching the ips so if printer is 192.168.15.35 make it that.  make sure the printer is selected to 192.168.15.3 press save.
enjoy and i hope your hair grows back out =)

  • How to remove old USB printer drivers and ports from Windows XP and Windows 7

We have several instances of HP 4250 Printers connected as local USB printers. When trying to replace this model with a HP P4015n or HP 600 M602n the new models will appear to install but won't print. No error messages but sometimes they try to install with ieee 1284.4 support which would seem to be a parallel port type. We're trying to use the HP UPD PCL 5.  I'm looking for a way to completely remove the old printer instances, drivers and ports. While the printer icons and drivers seem to be able to be deleted the USB printer ports can't be deleted. Then when I go back and try to install the new model printer it can only use he existing USB port. Again, when that happens the new printer won't print. So I'm trying to get a completely fresh start with the XP SP 3 and Win 7 OS before installing the newer models. I've tried several methods to clean the USB printers but the instructions are never detailed and most times something is missing and the OS needs to be reloaded. I thought that I would see if someone who knows HP USB printers has any ideas...

These seem to be a commercial products. For the best chance at finding a solution I would suggest posting in the forum for HP Business Support!
You can find the Commercial Laserjet board here:

  • Old Appletalk Printer Stopped Working With Snow Leopard

My old Apple 630 Pro Printer, which is connected to one of the Ethernet ports of my Time Capsule station, used to work perfectly through Appletalk... till I installed Snow Leopard. No more Appletalk in Snow Leopard, the printer is gone.
If I could find the IP address of the printer, I could probably add it this way. Does somebody know how to find the IP address of anything attached to the Station through Ethernet?
I know that this one is not easy, and thanks in advance for any info!

  • Maybe a bit OT - all those old, think printed manuals

I just cleaned out a closet down in the edit suite and lo-and-behold I found old boxes of Final Cut discs and manuals dating all the way back to Final Cut Pro version 2.... and that includes DVD Studio Pro and Motion and Soundtrack when it was called Soundtrack, and printed pdf manuals for Livetype and Cinematools.. and stand along Cinematools box! And even the software Cinematools came from: Film Logic.. or maybe Slingshot. They are both in there, I can't reember which Apple turned into Cinematools. I think I'll fill up a garbage can.
What does everyone else do with those big boxes of thick printed manuals? Come to think of it maybe I should recycle them.

Being the pack rat I am, we have a whole storage room filled with obsolete software, manuals, boards, digitizer pads, plotters and so on. Occassionally I'll drag the most hapless equipment out and let the art students disassemble them for useful elements in their constructions. Recycling can be fun and artful.
    cheers,

  • Time Capsule to an old HP Printer

I bought a Time Capsule so I could connect my old printer and print wirelessly. It is a HP Desk Jet 1055. It uses USB, which I connected into the USB port of the Time Capsule but I can't get them to connect. Any ideas?

OK, thanks for the clarifying that
Connect the printer to the USB port on the Time Capsule, power on the printer and wait a few minutes
On your Mac, open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)
    Open Print & Scan
Click the + (plus) button at the bottom of the printer list on the left
Wait a few seconds for your printer model or family to appear
(If you try this a few times and the printer does not appear, then your model is not supported)
Click on the printer model to highlight it
Click Add at the lower right of the window
    Try to print
If you have previously connected the printer to your Mac, then it will appear as if you have the same printer installed twice on your network.
Closer inspection will reveal that you have one printer located at the Mac and another printer located at the Time Capsule
You must choose the correct printer location first, then click Print
