Old iMac needs Firefox or something

Sending my Macbook Pro in for some repairs so going to be using the old iMac G4 10.2.8
It still works fine but things like Firefox and Yahoo etc are really out of date. Websites like FaceBook won't work on it. Is there a link to old FireFox upgrades? Safari?

Apple's only browser is Safari so they would not have a third-party one for an obsolete OS on their site. Here is a source for Camino--a Mac-only version of Firefox that's leaner:
http://caminobrowser.org/download/releases/
For 10.2, you need to scroll down and select v1.0.6 from the list. I think you'll find Camino more responsive and less resource-hungry that an equivalent version of FireFox.

• Old imac needs a new keyboard!

I have the old imac-- PowerPC G4 running on Mac Os X version 10.4.11.
I need a new keyboard, but don't necessarily want to upgrade the software to 10.5.... any suggestions? Or do I need to upgrade? Also, what would I need to get to upgrade? This is where things get very confusing to me! This desktop is my secondary Mac, but would still like to use it without putting a lot of money into it!!
Thanks!!

You can use any keyboard but not the latest Apple aluminum ones. If you want one of thoseyou need to upgrade to 10.5. Leopard, but you would need to buy a retail disc to do it.

• Why does my new iMac say Migration Assistant on old iMac needs to be upgraded?

New iMac: 2.5 GHz Quad core i5 running Lion 10.7.2
Old iMac: Power PC G4 running Tiger 10.4.11
Migration Assistant app is installed on the G4.
OX software is updated.
Connected via Ethernet cable.
But computers are not seeing each other and the new iMac says "Migration Assistant on the source computer needs to be updated".
Any ideas what is wrong?

You need to use the Migration Assistant on the new computer. You have to boot the G4 into Target Disk Mode - Transferring files between two computers using FireWire. Boot the new computer normally, and you should see a Desktop drive icon for the G4. Open Migration Assistant on the new computer in the Utilities folder.

• New Hard Drive on old iMac - need help getting Admin rights

My iMac hard drive finally crashed & I had to get a new one. The Apple Store did great at saving my files & programs, but I didn't know there had been a password set up originally (more than one person used this computer) and now I can't use some of my software already installed. It also won't allow me to re-install it, without a password.
How do I change my Administrator Password in order to enable me to install new photo software? The system won't allow me to use some of my own programs at this point. I have OS X Lion and the Support information claims I can go to Users & Groups and just click on my Apple ID somehow, but I can't get it unlocked to begin with. What do I do??

• My laptop died. I've dusted off my old iMac running OSX 10.2.8 and want to upgrade firefox to 3.5 or 3.6. Looks like I can't do that - where would I find older versions of firefox to update to?

My now dead laptop was running Firefox 3.6. It died. Now I have my old iMac out of storage. It has Firefox 2.0.0.1 on it. I'm using it now. Check for updates says I can go as high as 2.0.0.20. I'd like to upgrade the iMac to the most current operating system it can work with (right now it's at OSX 10.2.8), and then get Firefox up to the most current version this can run. I tried searching for older firefox versions to download, but can't seem to find them on your website. (I used search term "download Firefox 3.5"). I did this to check and see what OSX version they can work with. Let me know what I need to do. Thanks!

Firefox 2.0.0.20 is the last ever release for Mac OSX 10.3.9 and earlier versions.
Get it here:
• I need to install an old version of firefox, like 3.6.12. Where do I download old versions?

Latest versions of firefox are not playing nice with the old version of RedHat/Fedora that I am running on one of my systems. The firefox version I had on there is now corrupted and needs a reinstall. Upgrading the operating system is not an option. Where do I find old versions of firefox for download? I can only find versions 3.6.15 or later on the mozilla site, search as I might.

UncleD there is no no need to go to a random unofficial download site when Mozilla has all versions since the beginning available to public. Also not that the OP is using Linux, something that the oldapps site does not support anyways.

The ftp.mozilla.org is Not mirrored and it hosts the old versions that is not still hosted by the mirrored releases.mozilla.org
Also old versions are a potential security risk http://www.mozilla.org/security/known-vulnerabilities/
By the way the current updates for Firefox 3.6 and 3.5 are 3.6.16 and 3.5.18.

• My old iMac and OS 10.4 will not accept the New iTunes Version 10 application and I can't get past the screen offering to download iTunes 10. This is wrong and I need help getting past this situation. Help!

My old iMac and OS 10.4 will not accept the New iTunes Version 10 application and I can't get past the screen offering to download iTunes 10. This is wrong and I need help getting past this situation. Help!

Sure, you can get around it if you don't need the newest version of iTunes. I still use version 7.5 because the newer versions didn't strike me as offering anything I needed.
If you do need a version 10-something then you will have to upgrade your operating system to Leopard (fi your computer will support it) at least. If you need 10.5 for some reason then there's no getting around it, you will have to buy a new computer.

• Problems opening Firefox or Netscape after migrating from old iMac to new

When I set up my new iMac I migrated my internet settings and other preferences and apps from my old iMac.
Now, I can't get Firefox, Netscape or even Internet Explorer to open unless I have my old iMac on and connected via Firewire and router to my new one.
I get a dialog box telling me that: Connection Failed in bold letters and then the following: This file server is running on your machine. Please access the volumes and files locally.
I had a wireless connection on my old iMac cause I needed to connect a windows pc laptop to get on-line in order to work. I have a wireless router which is now connected to my new iMac as the main computer.
Before I turned off and unpluged the old mac whenever I opened Firefox or Netscape my old iMac drive would pop up on my desktop and my browsers would open up instantaneously without a hitch. All other apps open without a problem.
Any suggestions will be welcomed.

Thanks but that did not work. Under the new user I tried all browsers and the only one that opens is Safari.
I even tried deleting the preference files and still nothing.
I disconnected the old mac but I still keep getting a dialog box titled AFP Connection Status and Looking up "name computer" and now I get the Connection Failed - The server may not exist or it is not operational at this time. Check the server name or IP address and try again.
Neither Firefox, Netscape, Mozilla or Internet Explorer open.

• Need an effective method to swap everything from an old iMac to a new iMac

Hey Everyone!
I'm looking to swap iMacs with my parents. I have an older iMac (bought around 2008) and I want to move everything over to my parents newer iMac (bought around 2010), and from there move everything from my parents iMac over to my older iMac.
I have done tons of work on mine and have over 150 applications. The amount of work it would take to manually install all of these makes this swap not worth it. Is there a way to do this easily with time machine and an external hard drive, or any other way?
I desperately need the extra speed of the newer iMac for my video editing and my headphone jack has stopped working, which is pretty imperative for editing also. Would it be better to just invest money in more RAM and a repair of the jack? Since my parents have cleared me for this swap and only use their computer for email and Facebook then I think this is the best way to go. Let me know what you think.
I've included the hardware overview of both computers at the bottom. Humongous thanks to anyone that can show their skills and offer a detailed solution for me!

Thanks for the help! Will this keep both systems exactly the same? Someone else told me to do a Time Machine backup for each machine, then a fresh install of the OS. Are both ways effective? Step by step details would be amazing. Thanks again!
There is no easy way to merge two accounts together, however you can use Migration Assistant, this will create a new user account on the machine being migrated to. From there you can merge the two accounts, however it will take some work. Again Ponidini adresses this in:

Please carefully read the article, everything you need is right there. It's very comprehensive so take your time.

You must purchase a new QT key for each computer.

I bought a MacBook Air and wish to communicate with old iMac G5 2003-5 (sorry can't remember the year). The screen on the iMac is blank and will not come on but the hard drive still works. Can anyone tell me the cable I need to with the iMac & how to do it. I have music and photos on the iMac I cannot access.
Also, do I need to special CD/DVD external drive/burner to import music CD's into iTunes? I have tried and it keeps coming up with formatting problems.

If you have a Mac OS 8.x or 9.x CD (depending on the iMac model), look for a Drive Setup utility somewhere on that disc. Boot from the CD while holding down the C key. Initialise the hard disk with a 'Zero all data' option chosen.

• I have an old iMac that won't boot up anymore. I have the OS X install disks but I can't get it to boot from these disks. No need to save anything. Any suggestions?

I have an old iMac. Not sure of the operating system but the install disks say OS X. The computer will not boot anymore and all I keep getting is to restart and when I do I keep getting the same message. I do have the install disks but I can't get the computer to install, or for that matter, read the disks. I would like to rebuild the computer from these disks so that I can continue to use this computer. There is no need to save anything on the computer as I backed it up months ago. Any suggestions as to how I can save this computer and not have to recycle it?

Really need to know what version of OS X it is currently running, and what version you are trying to install.
