Old Imac with previous owners itunes. How do I sync my Ipod
Hello,
I've been given an old Imac (10.5.8 PowerPC). The previous owner used Itunes and all of her music is still on it. I want to be able to sync my ipod however if I do then I will loose all of my music on it. How do I set up the Itunes so it will now sync my Ipod? I've tried uninstalling it however this doesn't work.

I have just tried to sync my ipod to a new computer as my old one died but as I cannot remember my previous log in I created a new itunes account. I now want to sync but it says it will wipe my music off my ipod. Does anyone know how I can do this now ?
If you have purchases on your iPod Shuffle that you want to sync back to iTunes, but are under the Apple ID you no longer have access to, you'll need to reset that account information. You can use this link to reset your password.

If that doesn' work or help, you'll need to contact iTunes support and have them walk you through the process of resetting the older account information. Once you know the email and password again, you can authorize your new computer and transfer any purchases from this account back to iTunes.
For all non-iTunes purchased content, you'll need to the assistance of some sort of third party software that is not supported by Apple. See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

how do i sync my ipod with i tunes on a new computer when i don't have access to my old computer?
Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up your phone manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your device without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in iTunes and transferred your purchases.

You can also back up iTunes and restore it on your new computer How to back up your media in iTunes , but the iPhone will be erased anyway during the first sync. -

If you connect your ipod to your computer then look in the hidden folder labeled "iPod_Control" . (This is on a Mac version, but i think it's the same for Windows) and in "Music" is all your music mixed up in different folders. Just drag the MUSIC folder onto itunes then BAM! It's done ;D

How can I best make use of all my devices ? Mac mini, Apple TV, AirPort Extreme, airport express, ipad 2 (all purchased in 2011) and an old imac with OS X. I use my iPhones personal hotspot for all Internet.
Maybe you are looking to re-purpose this equipment versus getting rid of it if so, the best thing to do is search the internet for tutorials. And I say this because it's what I would do, there are a lot of tutorials online. Hope you can find good use for them. Worse case scenario if you can't find something right now, package them very nicely and when you come across something unbox and enjoy. I've re-purposed a mac color classic and LOVE IT!!

Trying to connect my iPhone6 to my old iMac with 10.6.8 MacOS, and synch up the music. It says I need a new version of iTunes. When I try to upgrade the iTunes on my iMac, it says, it is already the latest version. What do I do now?
The current version of iTunes is 12.x.x and requires OS X later than Snow Leopard.

I have an old IMac with 10.4.11 & the most uptodate Itunes it allows me to download (this isnt the most uptodate as u'd imagine) I now have new Iphone 5 i want to add my itunes songs etc to but when i plug it in it doesnt register the device. Any advice?

Recently bought a new iMac and installed latest version of Lighroom 5. Tried unsuccessfully to move my picture files from my old iMac with Lightroom 4 to the hard drive of my new computer which has latest Lighroom software. Ended up with 2,000 pictures that are duplicates and the keywords did not transfer with the picture files. Can anyone advise best way to resolve this problem?

That is a very good tutorial. Installing a newer version of Lightroom on the new computer will involve Lightroom creating a copy of your old catalog that is compatible with the new version. But it should be very painless. -

Hi Lechwe,
I had this issue recently, due to changing HD for an SSD.
In my case, since the library in my iPod was synced to the HD it was not syncing to the library in the SSD, though they were the same (had the same contents).
I found there's this checkbox in iTunes > iPod > [Settings] Music, called "Sync Music". Mine was unchecked, I guess due to iPod being synced to the old library. I marked the checkbox and clicked then in Sync. iTunes asked me if I was sure I wanted to sync the iPod with the "new" library, i clicked yes, and the it started determining the song to sync. Since the library was essentially the same (just a couple songs more in the new one), it synced the couple new songs and that was it.

I cannot activatea second hand iphone 4s as i don't have previous owners itunes ID. I can't get anything on the phone after setting the language as its asking for activation. Please can anyone help ???? Ideally i would like to get it back to factory settings and start afresh but right now i would settle for anything. Should say i only have the phone and charger, no box so no details
Unfortunately, the only one who can help is the previous owner. Otherwise you will not be able to activate and use the phone. Apple can't/won't help you with this either.
