Old Iphone synced to Macbook pro, upgraded to 3.2.1

I have a new Macbook pro, then I wanted to download our pics to the laptop. It prompts an upgrade to this 3.2.1 upgrade. Then an tragedy happened, we lost all apps. Th iphone can be called in and texted but the screensaver is an ITunes logo and the USB connector. When we slide the bottom arrow, the dial screen appears. And that is it. What can we do to restore everything for our iphone? We remembered that we were told that our old iphone CANNOT be upgraded.

When you restore your phone, it will be detected as "original iphone" and the latest firmware for your phone will be installed, although the version might be 3.1.2, you might not get all the features because of missing hardware on your phone.

Sometimes, but not all the time, when I sync my iPhone 5s to my MacBook Pro 2007 using iTunes, all my previously selected books and PDFs are all unselected. Then I have to go and reselect each book and PDF I want to sync again, and there are a lot of them.

That is because that sync ability (for contacts and calendars) has been removed. Use iCloud instead.

Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.

Let's say, I have an Iphone 3GS and it was synced to my older pc (I know...) and it crashed and I can't retrieve my files on there. I want everything that I have on my 3Gs: photos, videos, music, notes, voice recordings, etc... Now, I recently upgraded to 4Gs. I can sync almost everything via icloud but there are files like photos, videos, other music that I cannot sync or for some weird reason it won't work over the cloud. So I want to move all of those information to my macbook pro (upgraded from pc... yes!). How do I move everything in my iphone backed up to my itunes in my mac book so that I can sync it to my new 4Gs?

I have a 3GS IPhone and have not been able to find Cloud on it anywhere (I was instructed to go to Settings, General, etc). I have also been told I should download update from I Tunes and have not been successful doing that either. I tried a few times like most of the users on this post without any luck syncing Iphone 6 IOS 8.1.2 with an old exchange server 2003 but now I sync EVERYTHING without any problems, and this steps are for my friends in the airport IT group (They know who they are, I appreciate their help always).
BE SURE THAT EXCHANGE HAS IMAP4 up and running.
The steps to configure:
1. Delete any exchange account configured previously.
2. Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts and Calendar>Add Account>Exchange and add [email protected] and Password then Next.
At first It wont find anything and goes to next screen where asks for
3. Server: mail.domain.com, Leave domain is optional, Your User: user, Your Password: password. *****Then It says impossible to verify account***** but now you have the SAVE option. Touch on SAVE.
4. ON on everything you want to SYNC and touch SAVE again.
5. It says account added but now you have to reconfigure. NOW it appears the name EXCHANGE on Account inside Settings>Mail,Contacts and Calendar
6. Touch on it and on the Exchange menu touch on Account>Advanced Settings> Here TURN OFF SSL. Then return back to ACCOUNT and OK. You are supposed to see the check marks on all boxes the Voilá Exchange is UP. If not RESTART your iphone. Tricky but it worked for me, hope work for you guys.

iTunes automatically syncs voice memos to your iTunes library when you connect iPhone to your computer. Voice memos are synced to the Voice Memos playlist. iTunes creates the playlist if it doesn’t exist. When you sync voice memos to iTunes, they remain in the Voice Memos application until you delete them. If you delete a voice memo on iPhone, it isn’t deleted from the Voice Memos playlist in iTunes. However, if you delete a voice memo from iTunes, it is deleted from iPhone the next time you sync with iTunes.
You can sync the iTunes Voice Memos playlist to the iPod application on iPhone using the Music pane in iTunes.
To Sync the Voice Memos playlist to iPhone:
1. Connect iPhone to your computer.
2. In iTunes, select iPhone in the sidebar.
3. Select the Music tab.
4. Select the “Include voice memos” checkbox and click Apply.

I don't know how you got to your current position, but you might want to start by replacing your calendar with your MacBook Pro calendar if it is correct (if it isn't, skip this): first disable calendar syncing on your phone (Settings>iCloud>Calendars set to OFF), then prior to syncing open iTunes on your computer and disable automatic syncing (under Preferences>Devices>Disable...from syncing automatically syncing). Next connect your phone and set your sync settings on the Info tab to Syc Calendars with iCal, and below under Advanced choose "Replace Information on this iPhone" and check Calendars. Now sync and this will hopefully replicate your MacBook calendar on your iPhone.
Next, carefully review this to see that you have correctly set up iCloud on both your phone and your MacBook: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/, and that your meet the minimum system requirements (latest version of iOS on your phone, latest version of iTunes, OSX Lion 10.7.2 or later).

If the phone doesn't power on and isn't seen by the computer then you wouldn't be able to pull data off it with the USB connection to your computer.
You could pursue data recovery if the notes are very valuable, but the cost can be similar to having data recovered from a failed computer drive(possibly prohibitively expensive).

For retrieving your songs, try Senuti. As for the contacts, I'm not aware of any way to recover them, but perhaps someone on the iPhone forums would be more helpful.

Not if it isn't in your itunes library. If you sync with a new computer iTunes will delete all iTunes media (such as music) from your phone and replace it with whatever media is in the new iTunes library. Sounds like that's what happened.

Check your Settings on both devices. Is iCloud's calender sync turned on (Settings > iCloud > Calendar)? Please make also sure that you are not only using local calendars.
