We were told at the Apple Store and I believe Apple/AT&T has stated that all (of course, again, there could be exceptions) current iPhone customers can receive the new iPhone 3G at the $199/$299 prices.
Then your wife can activate the old iphone. I took my old 4GB iPhone, went into the preferences and told it to wipe all data. After it rebooted, it was an un-activated iPhone. When I plugged it into iTunes, it wanted me to go through a sign up process. This is what your wife can do. And I was told this should work by Apple when I was there today.

Buying a iphone; what happens with my old games?

I am going to buy an iphone 3G next week. I have an ipod touch now with apps and games on it that I bought in the app store and will give this ipod to my daughter. What will happen with them everything I bought for my ipod? Will I lose all the games I bought or can I transfer them to my new iphone?

These applications work the same as music, movies, photos, etc in iTunes with it's own tab page. Once you get your new iPhone, you just sync them back to the iPhone from iTunes. You don't have to re-pay for them.

Overheating Iphone, What happened?

I charged my iphone into the outlet with the pluggy thing BACKWARDS. i know, how stupid of me.
Now, whenever i turn it on, it overheats! Everything works fine except for the fact that it overheats and battery drains quick. WHat can i do to fix this? i have no warranty. SHould i buy a new motherboard? i tried replacing the batts and it still overheats.
i have an iphone 3gs 16gb btw. & i really neeed to fix it or im dead meat.

I used window cleaner a few times on my iPhone what happens?

I recently got an iPhone 6 for my birthday. It got dirty a few times so I used window cleaner on the front of the iPhone because it said anti-streak and anti-fog. You should get your screen checked by visiting an Authorized Apple Service Provider or Apple Store and ket them have a loo at the screen, just to be sure.

Faced with replacing defective iPhone, What happens with purchased apps?

I am looking at the possibility of needed to replace a defective iPhone. If I get a "New" phone, how will that affect the apps I've purchased in iTunes? Do I need to "de-authorize" my iPhone before returning it like I would with a computer or laptop?
If I sync with a new replaced iphone in iTunes, will those apps load into my phone? How does this work?

Slightly scratched iPhone, what happens with Screen protector?

I have a small scratch on my new iPhone 3G, accidentally dropped it on the touch screen side when getting out of bed this morning. There is now a slight scratch on the touch screen, noticeable mostly when the touchscreen is off when against light. When the screen is on, if you look closely, you can see the line and the color disfigurement, it is like a little rainbow line. Anyway, to my point, i will be buying an invisibleshield, i am wondering if the scratch will become less visible. Common sense assumes probably not, but i have read that it might, not exactly sure.

To all AT&T or Apple employees out there on Apple Discussions,
Let's say, hypothetically, my old first generation iPhone breaks, and it is still under warranty (and it is replaceable by the warranty). What happens? Won't Apple have to give me the new 3G as a replacement? But will my plan remain the same, or will I have to upgrade just because my phone broke?
Also, is there an easy way for earlier iPhone owners to upgrade to the new 3G (I am expecting to fork over some money to do this, but it would be cheaper/easier than just buying a whole new phone with a new number and new plan)?

You will get a first generation iPhone. They have plenty for repair/refurbishment issues.
Also, is there an easy way for earlier iPhone owners to upgrade to the new 3G (I am expecting to fork over some money to do this, but it would be cheaper/easier than just buying a whole new phone with a new number and new plan)?
You do it like everyone else. Go to an Apple or AT&T store. You can keep your same number.

I'm writting from a new Apple ID.
Yesterday i set my old iphone 4 for my mother. I own an iphone 5s.
I wanted to update my apps on my iphone and it doesn't want to recognise my password. I'm sure of the password, because I've been using it for ages, and also every few days I use it to update the apps. I tried to reset it, but it doesn't send me the email for resetting.
I created a new apple id with the same email, so I really don't know what to do anymore. I have applications that I payed for so I don't want them to be lost because of it.
And my 5s and ipad are registred to the old apple ID.
I am not able to call the support because I'm from Slovenia and it costs me to much to call.

If i dropped my iPhone 5c in the sewage drain, what steps do i take to replace it and how much would it cost? What would happen to the old iPhone 5c if i can recover it (since its in a lifeproof case). I have AT&T and have insurance.

You will not have the old iPhone after the replacement - replacement
means they give you a new iPhone in exchange for your old one.
If your iPhone has been in the sewer, there is little chance it will recover.
And if it does, it most likely will fail in the near future. Use your insurance
to replace it.

What happens when I restore data to a non-factory set iPhone?

Okay, another iCloud question. What I did was basically delete a game, start a new one, and now I want my old game back (saved to ICloud). What happens when I restore full data to a non-factory set iPhone? Will it overwrite current data? Will it delete everything? I just want to know, I'm such an iOS noob. :-/

A restore is all or nothing.
If a backup is restored to the device, ALL data currently on the device is wiped and replaced with the data from the backup.
Restoring a backup to get one saved game back seems rather extreme and silly.
